The truth s i think we are winning. New york times, a phony paper. Meanwhile, a confident Hillary Clinton not quite measuring the drapes for the oval office. Not yet, but she goes after trump with both barrels. This is someone who roots for failure and takes glee in mocking our country no matter who our president is. Now, that may be who donald trump is, but this election is about who we are. So lets get right to cnns dana bash and mr. Mark preston. They both join me here in new york. Thats how important this is. Getting down to the wire. Lets start out with the polls. Mark, for you, it shows 5 thats tighter than all the recent National Polls which show clinton well ahead, there wassan one poll who had her 12 out. Right, an abc poll. Anything is possible . He needs to stop offending people, which he seems to do on a daily basis. He needs to stop offending women. He needs to do a better outreef to minor it to get the College Educated white vote who is on the fence about whether they should support him. When holds rallies for instance in gettysberg when he wants to talk about what his plan is to make America Great again he needs to stop prefacing it all these women accusing me of sexual allegations, im going to sue them after the election all that does is cloud the message. He should focus on the economy which he does well on in this poll and try to go forward and try to win night i have heard his supporters saying they dont want to hear him sort of crying for lack of a better word anymore how this is rig. That message doesnt play anymore. The New York Times is not a real paper. They want to hear him talk policy and stop saying that the system is rigged. They call them dark polls. They are phony polls put out by phony media. I will etell you what, all of us are affected by this stuff. What they do is try to suppress the vote this. Way people dont go out and vote. But we are winning this race. I really believe we are winning. I just i dont even know what to say because this is a man who started his rally after rally after rally during the primaries when he was winning talking about the polls. And even at one point, maybe multiple tiles, he even was self aware enough to say i actually only talk about the polls when they are good and when they are not i think they are bad polls. Thats what thats about. I think whats most important here is never mine the polls is the contenant of what he is talking about. Mike pence, his Vice President ial running mate was at an event today and was approa approached by a voter who is a supporter saying can you please get a message to donald trump, tell him to stop talking about all the garbage and talk about the issues. What is the news that came out today . It is that obama cares premiums skyrocketed. 25 , going to go up can you imagine a better argument against Hillary Clinton, against a third term of obama for obama than that . And yet he is is not really talking about it. The little bit that he is, and the little bit that his aides are, they are drowned out by these other things. And you know, peep who are working on his campaign, they cant say this publicly, but they are making it clear, they wish he would just stop talking about this other stuff. Absolutely. But i dont know about the campaign but maybe so when you hear some of the messaging coming out, they seem to be tone deaf, even to some of the people that come on i jokingly say help me help you. Sort of tongue in cheek but certainly better messaging would be a better way the reach people. That doesnt seem to be happening with donald trump when he talks about the polls and the phony polls. His Campaign Manager is a pollster. She would certainly prass them if they existed. And there was a tweet, winning is his thing. Is he stepping on his own message . As with all these things he seems to be. You know w 15 days left to go, why isnt he getting this. He is not stepping on his message, its stomping on his message. The laels that fueled his rise in the Republican Party when he joined and winning the primary have become a narcotic that turned on him. He goes out to the big rallies and he rants about the media. He talks about the establishment. People are riled up. They are shouting you are the best we are with you. Great, were glad certainly he is glad they are with him. That may have been a while ago when there was no conservative media, no fox news, when conservative radio didnt have money of an influence. I would venture to say that the conservative radio and media has more of a influence than Mainstream Media anymore. There is no reason to get that high two or three times a day of standing on a podium and having these people cheer him on. Doesnt need that he needs to get the people who arent cheering him on. Let me give you the yeah, but, i agree with you. Yeah, but. The yeah, but argument from the Trump Campaign and i think the way that they are trying to explain some what have he is doing is that they do have incredibly high numbers in some of these polls. Not just nationally but in the swing states among working class white voters. Much higher than mitt romney and other people had. So by making the argument against the media, against, you know, the poll, everything is rigged, so on and so forth, his hope is to drive that up even further. But the question is, whats the ceiling . I mean, there are only so many of those vote stheers can we talk about the polls since you brought them up. Yes. He said he is ahead in ohio, iowa and doing well in north carolina. There is a Monmouth University poll showing Hillary Clinton ahead 1 point in north carolina. In iowa, trump is ahead by 4 in a poll earlier this month. The problem for him if he wins all three of those states, he still has a very short victory he is still short of a victory, i should say. He has a very narrow path to 270. Thats right. He still has other potential blue states that he has to turn red. He has got to turn New Hampshire or he has to turn pennsylvania for one electoral vote in maine. And so on and so forth. You are right. I mean, we have said it so many times, but it bears repeating. Republicans start at a disadvantage no matter who you are based on the electoral map and where the Population Centers are visavis the electoral votes in each of these states. But his path is harder. There is no question about it, even, than others, because of where these blue states are that he has to turn red. I want to talk about women, i think this is important, because we mentioned Kellyanne Conway who is the woman whisperer brought into his campaign. She does well with women. The cnn poll soes a gender gap, 12 point advantage for Hillary Clinton among women, just 3 advantage for men for trump. How much do these allegations of Sexual Assault hurt trump. Is the way trump treats woman an indicator of character andable to be president . Nearly six in ten americans say yes it is. Put that into context what the allegations are, he harassed women, forced himself upon women, that he did things to women that were unwanted. S that a strong number in the negative for him. He is not going well in the suburbs of philadelphia. You know how important they are for that state. Right . So he is turning off women based upon what these allegations are, and frankly he fuels it when he makes comments at the rallies. Working in local markets you get to see all the markets and how it plays. That is a very important market, as is the midwest, chicago, very important market i worked in as well. Very strong for women and africanamericans as well. I want to talk to you about the president on jimmy kimmel tonight. Listen to this. When you watch the debate and you watch donald trump, do you ever laugh . Do you ever actually laugh . Most of the time. So the president really hasnt said how he feels about donald trump. He is keeping it close to the vest. [ laughter ] that was sarcasm, by the way. I mean, look, he says he laughs because thats a good line for late night comedy but he is not laughing when he is going out on the campaign trail because he knows its of the not just, you know, about the person who he thinks should be the next president. Its about his own legacy. And but he has a real disdain i think for trump. We have heard him say its not just about choosing between two philosophies, its from his perspective choosing somebody who can lead and somebody who would be a disaster as a leader for the country. And you cannot separate the personal. That donald trump made his name in politics questioning whether or not barack obama was born in this country. You know, sort of peddling conspiracy who are and the president hasnt forgotten that. There were still some of his supporters who dont believe he was born in america. I think its 2 in 10 appearance. Here we are, 15 days to go. Only. When we come back, win or lose, will donald trump change the face of his party for years to come . Between life and death. For partners in health, time is life. We have 18,000 people around the world. The microsoft cloud helps our entire staff stay connected and Work Together in real time to help those that need it. The ability to collaborate changes how we work. What we do together changes how we live. And now. Im in bristol, inia. Tennessee. On this side of the road is virginia. And on this side its tennessee. No matter which state in the country you live in, you could save hundreds on Car Insurance by switching to geico. Look, im in virginia. Im in tennessee. Virginia. Tennessee. And now im in virginessee. See how much you could save on Car Insurance. Or am i in tennaginia . Hmmm. Hillary clinton is pivoting from running against donald trump to running for a democratic senate. Donald trump says not so fast, im winning. Here to discuss is a historian, author of destiny and power. John myrtle beachham and Mark Mckinnon the co creator of the circus. And a former Campaign Adviser to john mccain and george w. Bush. A little joke in the break, i feel like this is evening don having both of you on. For those of you some of you may get that. Donald trump sounds optimistic about the race. Here he is in florida today. I actually think were winning, were up in ohio. Were up in iowa, were doing great in north carolina. I think were doing great in florida. I think were really i think were going to win florida big. I think were going to win florida big. So mark, does he know something we dont know. No. What he probably knows is hes losing, but he needs to sounds confident. The problem is he obsesses about the polls. In the primaries all he did was talk about the polls and he hasnt quit doing that. He must be and should be giving his voters the impression that hes going to win. How do you say were doing well in this and this and this, and then say, the polls are all phony. And theyre rigged. Just stop talking about the polls. Dont talk about them. Talk about your message, what people are responding to. Thats his winning message, dont talk about the polls. You want to say anything about that, john . I dont know why we would suddenly expect this to become a conventional october since its been a wildly unconventional 18 months. Marks right, i mean, ultimately he would be making his closing argument, hed be dealing with the message. Hed be driving it home, this is not in anyway fit any historical pattern, or conventional pattern, mark has worked in politics, ive read a lot about it, and this is just something thats suis jeneris. In the meantime, we saw Hillary Clinton on the campaign trail, moving her focus to down ballot races, does that mean she thinks her campaign is she has this election in the bag . I dont know if she has it in the bag, but shes thinking about governing, shes clearly mr. Trump may not believe the polls, i suspect secretary clinton does. Reminder of a ole joke, i think its attributed to bob dole doesnt believe polls unless hes ahead, which is sort of human nature, i guess. I think shes trying to get as much of a wave as she can. Because she knows because shes been to this movie before. That its really hard once you get there, to get things done. Weve been talking a lot. Youve been on the show. I want to put up this poll and discuss it. It is a new cnn orc poll out today. Hillary clinton leading, but its not a blowout. Heres something that surprised me, more and more democratic voters are saying theyre voting for clinton, not against donald trump, 69 , and 39 thvoting to support clinton, compared to 39 who are voting to support donald trump. Does this go against the norm . You want to close that Enthusiasm Gap and that may be in part people are starting to believe shes going to win. I think its helpful she has a strong surrogate team like the obamas out there, and bernie sanders. You know, and getting encouraging exciting that coalition, the millennials, i think thats showing up in those numbers. Even Kelly Ann Conway said she couldnt have better surrogates. Her surrogates are hall of fame mvps. Does it show that her supporters are maybe more enthusiastic about donald trump . Thats not what people have been saying. 59 and 60. Theyre animated by the donald trump presidency. Now they are getting a positive notion that Hillary Clinton might win. Its a great opportunity for her to close on a high note. John, president obamas out on the campaign trail pounding republican candidates. Lets listen to this. If the world that theyve been seeing is that im powerful enough to cause hurricanes on my own. And steal everybodys guns in the middle of the night. And impose martial law, even though i cant talk without a prompter, then is it any wonder that they end up nominating somebody like donald trump. Donald trump didnt start it, he just did what he always did, which is slap his name on it, take credit for it, and promote it. He is really enjoying this. Hes all fired up and ready to go. Did you say this was revenge of the birthers . Yes. This is a he is, i think thinking about the guy who almost ended his presidency, or certainly made his presidency difficult from the beginning, because for half the country, or a good number of republicans and conservatives out there, didnt give him credibility as being an american born citizen or legitimate president. It really handicapped his presidency. This is not only an opportunity for clinton to win, but in many ways to get back at the guy who handicapped the start of his job. Some two term president s have senioritis, this guys never had so much fun. Hes out there beer bonging rhetoric, its phenomenal. Thats an interesting way of putting it. There was this bloomberg poll. Asked republicans who better matches your view of what the Republican Party should stand for. Donald trump or paul ryan. The majority of republicans say trump. What does that mean for the party looking ahead . Its a terrific question. The movement in 25 years from george h. W. Bush to donald trump disprovens darwin. And we have this situation now where you have a Republican Base and to me, the question for the Republican Party is going to be how much of this is the Republican Base and how much of this is a trump base. And, you know, history is about history of politics is about personality driven leadership. So, you know, as you both know. Theres a great autopsy written about what the Republican Party has to do to win. But its four years old, and its sitting on a shelf. If theres not someone and it may be paul ryan. I suspect its going to be someone whos name we havent said recently. Somebodys got to come to lead them out of the wilderness, and its got to be a person, it cant just be an idea. Interesting. I dont know if you guys saw the first installment of trump tv tonight. Thats what its being called, at least. Well discuss that right after the break. As long as i can. New patented ensure enlive has hmb plus 20 grams of protein to help rebuild muscle. For the strength and energy to do what you love. New ensure enlive. Always be you. Sweet sun no artificial flavors. Philadelphia® strawberry. Rich. , creamy. And delicious. Nothing else tastes like philadelphia® Donald Trumps campaign went on facebook tonight to launch a nightly newscast for trumpsters by trumpsters. They were willing to by pass the left wing media. Back with me now john heechham and Mark Mckinnon. Interesting because the left wing media, according to them, played a big rogue in giving him a voice. Listen what what he said earlier today. The media isnt just against me, theyre against all of you. Thats really what theyre against. Theyre against what we represent. Like Hillary Clinton, they look down on the hardworking people of the country. Thats whats happened. Jon meacham, that goes right to the heart of trumps appeal. Is this attitude going to outlast the election. This attitude is, absolutely. Its outlasted george wallace, who was really one of the first to use it effectively. This is part of classic modern populism, where you argue that every institution in American Life has power over the common person, and the common person is subject to forces beyond their control. Enter a champion whos going to give them a key to unlock that conspiracy and return power to them. And the idea of a left wing media has been a trope on the right for well over 50 years. Used to just be cbs. Now its everybody. And i think that the one of the Great Questions from november 9th forward, i think less so whether trump is going to sue in various states about the results. Its going to be what is the form his permanent opposition takes. Is this media, is it just going to be him and his twitter account calling into shows . What is the scale hes going to take this to, i dont think hes going away. Mark, i want you to talk about that. This is the Trump Campaign taking to facebook tonight with a post, sure looks a lot like the model for trump tv. Anyway, here it is. Tommy leran here delivering you final thoughts. We are getting so close to the election right you no. Its down to the wire. Its more important than ever. The Mainstream Media is not going to hand this one to us. And the never trumpers are doing everything they can to make sure they dont hand this to us. Its up to the american voter, its time to the deplorables. Its time to get out of her basket and make our voice heard. Shes from the blaze, but thats tommy leran, i believe, on trumps facebook. What do you think of that, mark . Well, i in terms of whether its an impact before the election, its a channel directed at the supporters hes already got. Its not going to be helpful in expanding his base. On the other hand, its sending a message to the Significant Group of voters who are going to be around after the election, theyre not going to be any happier, theyre going to be a lot angrier. To meachams point, theyre sitting out there, somethings going to happen with them, i think its already divided the Republican Party in two distinct different parties, its hard to see how thats going to heal quickly. Want to ask you, john, what happens to the Republican Party. Before i do, you recently reported on an interesting bit of history a 1988 diary by george h. W. Bush that donald trump was interested in the Vice President ial spot on his ticket. Did he take that seriously . He heard of this from lee atwater, the diary entry is in bushs voice, strange, unbelievable. So no, i think its safe to say. He promptly forgot about it, i reminded him of it after i came across it in the diary. He was surprised to hear it. What does that say about the history of the Republican Party that donald trump has gone from you are not going to get the vp prospect at all to the president ial candidate . This rise of populism, its cultural and its economic. And the movement from george h. W. Bush, who was one of the most qualified people to ever run for president to trump is a sign that the party itself it seems to me, has to figure out, how are they going to incentivize experience, how are they going to return to a place where candidates like jeb bush who ran are going to be rewarded for being good at politics as we know them. And this year, being good at politics as we know them, being good at governance was the kiss of death. It seems to me that what the Republican Party has to figure out is not only what they stand for, but are they really happy with the splashy populous moments that burn brightly, but dont lead to victory at the polls. Here is a clip from the circus. Mr. Mckinnons show on showtime. Podesta says theyve taken on a lot of water. He says most of that has to do with terrible decisions made precampaign. But a lot has to do with her instincts. Someone writes back, almost no one knows better than me that her instincts can be terrible. Wow did that create any issues for you guys as reporters that it seemed strategically leaked . Yeah, i think every indication is that both of these hacks are stolen material on the other hand, theyre undeniably newsworthy. I have to say, i love the hat, by the way. Thank you. We have covered the content of the wikileaks email. The Trump Campaign surrogates always bring them up. The candidate frequently goes off message. Has donald trump missed an opportunity here . Absolutely. There was an opportunity at that debate to talk about it. Our show last night on showtime, the circus. Spent the whole episode talking about wikileaks, theres an interesting history about Julian Assange, about the russian involvement, weve heard people talking about it in the news, but its a really interesting kind of dig down and find out whats going on. But a couple of quick conclusions about that, one is, that theres no question that Julian Assange wants to go after Hillary Clinton, and number two, theres no question its the russians are involved. Im not saying its collusion between assange and the russians, its an open source link that he provides and the russians fingerprints are all over this thing. The other thing id say about that is theres been a ton of emails out there, the Washington Post reporters were just talking about it, its trump keeps saying, and the trump people are saying the media is not paying enough attention to it, that may be true. On the other hand, their candidate is not focussing and staying on message on that issue. The media is going to cover what he says. No matters what he says. If he goes off changing on all these other tangents, thats what theyre going to cover. Thank you, mark, thank you jon. See you soon, 15 days. Thank god. They out here saying, the new iphone wants your thumb print for your protection. Oh, okay, then, doug. What is i dont think so, thats how he get you. Yes. Yes. I dont trust that. Me either. I read that goes straight to the government. That is not bad, dog. They out here saying that every vote counts. Oh, doug again. Oh, come on, theyve already decided who wins even before it happens. Yes, yes. Okay, lets go to big girls for 200. Okay, the answer there. Skinny women can do this for you . What is not a damn thing. You golden gate right. You got it right. That was my favorite skit of the evening. I have not tweeted in weeks and it was the first time i said snl black jeopardy, brilliant. Cnn political commentator, a republican strategist, michael nutter, the former mayor of philadelphia, and j. D. Vance. Author of hillbilliology. A memoir of a family and culture in crisis. Thats the title of his book, im not saying that. Save your comments. Paris, lets see, is there some truth to this . Do White Working Class voters who support trump and africanamericans have more in common than some might think . I think they do. Think i its because when you look at the economy and jobs, i was at a panel earlier today at georgetown law center, they were talking about how white americans over the age of 50 have had no raises over the past 50 years. You look at wage stag nation, unemployment numbers. You look at a lot of things that are affecting middle class america, thats going on doubly with black america. So there is a lot of unification in terms of messaging that mr. Trump is talking about. Thats why i think that come election day, youre going to have a lot of africanamerican supporters listening to trump and saying, he makes a lot of sense all right, paris. No. Come on. Im serious. I really think thats the truth, don. I really do. Be serious. Come on. This is that would be great, and i agree with paris on the substance of whats happening. The problem is, that donald trump as a candidate has not really he hasnt articulated that at all. Donald trump really cared about reaching out to minority communities, talking about urban communities and the problems there, and how to fix them. He would embrace paul ryan and paul ryans antipoverty agenda, and the work that hes done in those communities and actually come up with real solutions. Policy solutions that could help that. Donald trump hasnt done that work, because he doesnt care. Unfortunately, people dont listen when he says ridiculous things out of his mouth like, youre going to get shot if you walk down the street. Or calls africanamericans the africanamericans. I mean, the messenger matters, how you present that message to people matters. They wont hear you. You could say all the wonderful things in the world. If they think youre a bigot, forget about it. Thats where donald trump is. J. D. , then mayor. Well, i think thats absolutely right, its not just that donald trump doesnt speak to issues of special concern of minority voters, its that he seems to like actively antagonizing a lot of the black vote. Unfortunately, thats been the Republican Party strategy for 30 years. I say that as a republican who wants the party to get more black voters. Trump seems to be taking that to the next level. It shows in the polls hes not going to do exceptionally well on election day. He is taking it backwards because there are a lot of us who have been in the party for years who look at the mistakes in the past and look at them, and people like paul ryan or jack kemp, they recognized what needs to be said and how to do it. And its gone to the wayside because of who our candidate is. And he cant articulate that, its really set us back, unfortunately. I think the important thing to remember heres the bottom line on this. You have a racist, sexist, xenophobic, sexually assaulting tax dodger who thinks most black people are poor, many are criminals, many are unemployed, were living in hell, and at the the end of the day black folks might feel a certain way about that, like not voting for him. Thats whats going on here. I think at 8. 4 unemployment, you look at the current black homeownership rate of today. You have more blacks owning homes in the great depression, i think theres a lot of us in our communities. 2 . Who are i think when youre polling at 0, 1 and 2 , in the Africanamerican Community that tells you the whole story about. If you want to keep because of people like you reinforcing a false narrative about who mr. Trump is and what he says about paris, come on. Im reenforcing the narrative he creates himself. Thats what he says out of his own mouth. You take a look at some of our communities and the communities especially that you have represented in the past, or currently do, you will know, and if youll be honest, theres a lot of improvement that needs to be done, and a lot of democrats have failed our communities. Especially detroit. Theres a lot of improvement all across the country. I believe mr. Trump is one candidate that can do that. All that man talks about, the black people. Hes the only one that talks about our issues as well. Hes the only one talking about the innercity. Hes pandering. Hes the only one talking about homeowner ship. Hes not pandering. Whats the definition on that. Most africanamericans dont live in the innercity. But enough of us do. And the truth let me talk, and then i will get you in. When he talks about africanamericans, he seems to be talking about innercity communities. That is not the bulk of africanamericans. Go ahead paris. At the end of the day, you look at the critique of cornell west and tavis smiley, they talk about the fact that theyve never liked president obama. Thats not true. They still when you campaign for somebody and go on the stump for somebody, you support them. The point is, they critiqued him because he didnt care about the least of these. For the majority of us, in the black community were doing okay. I appreciate the fact that donald trump is talking about the least of these. That might be those that are in the innercity who are suffering. And we should have more attention to those people that are suffering. Paris, look on the republican side. And on the democratic decide. The problem with that. The criminal justice system, and thats not true. He talks about unemployment. Student loans. Thats what he says about black people. Thats his image of black people. Hope owner ship. Thats what he thinks of us. And he does it in primarily white communities, because hes afraid of black people, he doesnt come into philadelphia or anywhere elsewhere they might actually be a black person walking down the street. Not true. When was the last time donald trump had a real conversation about policies that could actually help middle class black americans. When did he talk about homeownership or Small Business owners. No, every single time, he has an opportunity to do this, every single time he speaks in front of these crowds of thousands of people, but unfortunately, he tends to he decides that hes going to go for the stereotypes. He continues to stereotype, and speaks that way, and its insulting to the black community and i get it. Now im not saying that there arent griefances with the democrats. Of course, im a conservative. There are plenty of reasons we can be critical of failed democratic policies in the black commune. But donald trump has done nothing but pander and stereotype into predominantly white crowds and think thats the way to do that . Thats not. He also hasnt apologized for his very questionable racial history. This is a man that got sued for housing discrimination, the central park five issue hes never apologized for. We can go on and on about that. We can go on and on about secretary clinton as well. Were talking about donald trump. And republicans, and what hes doing. Thats why hes going to lose. What were going to talk about now is nice try to pivot. Its not a pivot. It is a fact. Lets talk about Hillary Clinton we could talk about Collard Greens right now, but thats not what were discussing. I want to play this clip. From snl, listen. Lets take a look at our final jeopardy category, lives that matter. [ laughter ] it was good while it lasted, doug. I got a lot to say about this. Yeah im sure you do. When we come back well play the National Anthem and see what the hell happens. Were laughing here, but that sort of sums up the conversation we were having, more than a grain of truth in that. Thats where the Common Ground ends, right . Well, i dont think it necessarily has to. Part of the reason that its ended there, Republican Leadership and politicians have been so bad about talking about issues, that are special concern to minority voters. I think its totally legitimate to say look the democratic policies have not been super helpful to black voters, at the same time, you have to look at the share of the black vote that republicans have gotten for the past 20, 30, 40 years. Conservatives like me have to start asking ourselves what can we do more, what can we do better . Its not just the fact that black voters have been hoodwinked by their democratic party, we have to do better. Ill let you get in first mayor right after the break. Watch the weak side ah, the time honored tradition of yelling out your own plays and opinions. Want some . Im on a cleanse. Its four days of vegetables and raw food 54 is the mic sure, no one on the team can hear her but does that stop her . Check out of it not one bit. And much like coach hindsight over here, courtyard is all about the game. Eight men in the box is that a good thing . Not if we run the ball its not were back now with tara setmayer, para sanard. Sorry to cut you off. Go on. I wanted to make the one point. Jd made his point with regard to what happened under policies. We cant ignore the fact for the last years weve had a republican controlled house and senate. When one like senator mcconnell says his number one priority is to make sure president obama is a oneterm president , that certainly hasnt been helpful to try to move president obamas agenda forward. For all of the successes hes had, could be doing more, the american jobs act, could go down the laundry list of things the republicans blocked that would put people to work and lift up many americans, including many africanamericans and other minoriti minorities in the country. Here is your turn, tara. We will talk about Hillary Clinton. Yay she is out with a new ad aimed at africanamerican voters. Take a look. Lets go, hillary. Thats my opinion. I will be voting for hillary. Her resume speaks for itself. She has experience in the office. I dont want somebody running the country as a business. Im a human being. If we want a hotel, well call donald trump. All of the respect she gives every individual, thats what i appreciate from Hillary Clinton. If obama supports hillary, im voting for her. Make sure you get out and vote. Im Hillary Clinton and i approve this message. Tara, effective or pandering . I think it is effective because, you know, if you see people in the black community, in the inner cities, not just the inner cities but talking in barber shop talk and salons, thats cultural, where you want to go and get a pulse of what is going on, thats where you go. It is unlike what donald trump has done, which is none of that. So, yeah, think it is an effective ald for her. You know, she is worry about the voter turnout not being as high as it was for obama and she needs minority votes to get out and vote. The upside for her is at least that the absentee ballots in places like florida, i believe it is 40 increase of black voters, democrats, increased absentee battle, so thats good for her as far as enthusiasm is concerned. Paris, what do you think of the ald . I know you want to continue to talk about pivot, and thats fine. Do you think it is effective or think it is pandering . Because people go to diners when they want to get a pulse. Why not a barber shop or beauty salon . Look, all i will say is this. I think if donald trump put out an ad that featured people in a barber shop talking about why theyre supporting him and not secretary clinton, i wonder if people would call it pandering. If donald trump put out the same ad and we wouldnt call it pandering, then i wont call secretary clintons ad pandering. If you would, i think it speaks for itself. Yeah, okay. Don, the difference here is Hillary Clinton actually has a record and a track record and a real relationship with real black people. So it is very effective. So im a fake black person . Out in winfield, it is a conversation people have in a barber shop. Donald trump would go to a shop in the suburbs and talk to folks there about black people, thats the problem. Mayor, here is a reality check for you. I go to a black barber shop and we discuss donald trump and we have conversations about him and its been supportive. Well see what happens on election day. I appreciate the reality check. Youre welcome. Our realities are probably a little different. I would be careful. My reality is similar to yours. You dont know my background and where i live and what ive gone through. You dont mine too. I do. Okay. Up know me. See, the problem here is that for the republicans, and, you know, again, ive been in republican politics for 20 years. Its been very frustrating for how we present the message. The finger pointing and saying, well, you know, im blacker than you, it is not going to work. So thats the problem. Weve seen that, weve seen it fail over and over again. It is failing again this time. Quick to mayor nutter, you cant blame republicans for being obstructionist on certain things with obama as president when you had a Democratic Congress for two years and they passed a stimulus bill which was hundreds of billions of dollars and green jobs and all of these things. With no house, tara, no House Republican support. Because we dont believe in larger government because theyre failures like we saw didnt help anybody. It helped obamas cronies, so i didnt want you to get away with that. Jd, you have been standing by so patiently. Black incomes went up. Im saying. Youre going to let the black folks talk about Collard Greens. I like kol arld greens. I like mustard. We do too, and people are asking for recipes online. I like mustards and clard greens. You have to put ham hocks in it. I dont eat pork. Got to have hot sauce. Pandering. Jd, do you think trump had a chance with africanamerican voters and did he blow it . Well, i definitely think he could have had a chance with africanamerican voters, but he never really tried, you know. Other commenters have talked about president obama and whether House Republicans have obstructed, but at the end of the day a lot of the problems that exist in the black community, the blackwhite wealth gap, the income gap and so forth, these problems are longterm. They didnt come about during the Obama Administration or the bush administration. So it is not like donald trump entered a vacuum where these problems were all of a sudden new. He entered a problem where republican politics maybe could have made a difference but he chose not to focus on those issues. I think it is his fault and it is going, you know, hurt us on election day zblur like the trump supporter on black engineered ardy on snl. Next episode. He had a chance and blue it.
