In a Church Basement she is addressing the media with support from Migrant WorkersRights Groups. She said simply, to my employers in hong kong i hope they will start treating migrant Domestic Workers as workers and human beings and stop treating us like slaves. Because in this case, that is exactly what she was treated like. A 22yearold coming from indonesia from a small village, looking for a better life taking up employment with a housewife and her family. She came back to hong kong to testify after she had left after investigators had visited her in the hospital. We saw orific images of her injuries. She came back to face her accuser. And the judge said definitively i am sure she is telling the truth. Her sorry, the employer here the defendant, she has had her bail revoked. Sentencing is going to happen later this month. And in an interesting sort of final moment in the courtroom, the judge ordered that she pay the wages to arianna that she is owed. She was never paid during her eight months of employment. Were looking at footage there was the employer found guilty of 18 of 20 charges. And you worn now you wonder now with the judge believing what this woman said being tortured the idea that this is systemic not just a single case where does arianna go from here and what about other Domestic Worker who now have a spotlight on what is a very person issue in many parts of the very important issue in many parts of the world . The European Union has delayed new sanctions against separatists and supporters until next week. German chancellor Angela Merkel met with u. S. President barack obama on monday. She opposes sending arms to ukrainian troops saying more weapons could escalate the conflict. She insists its too soon to give up on diplomacy. The situation has worsened on the ground. So now there is a possibility to try and bring about a ceasefire. And im absolutely confident that we will do this together. I, myself actually will not be able to live with not having made this attempt. And president obama says he is on the same page for now. Take a listen. If in fact diplomacy fails, ive asked my to team look at all options. What other means can we put in place to change mr. Putins calculus and the possibility of lethal defensive weapons is one of those options being examined. I have not made a decision about that yet. Chancellor merkel is supposed to meet with the president s of russia ukraine, and fran on wednesday to try and reach a lasting ceasefire. Meanwhile, in ukraine, a strong explosion in the rebelheld city of donetsk monday ripped through what a city website calls a chemical plant. A ukrainian lawmaker said it was a Warehouse Holding rockets. A separatist leader accused ukraine of carrying out the attack. And you can see that nearby buildings were damaged. We can tell you that there were no casualties reported. For the latest on the push for diplomacy in Eastern Ukraine, we turn now cnns Erin Mclaughlin live in moscow. When the facetoface meetings take place in belarus wednesday with the leaders of russia, ukraine, germany, and france all working to try to find peace, whats the most thats expected out of these talks and where do things stand on the eve of these crucial meetings . Reporter well german chancellor Angela Merkel herself yesterday said that success in these talks is anything but assured. That said there does seem to be political will for some agreement out of the talks scheduled for minsk tomorrow. But with leaders on all sides saying that theres no alternative to a peaceful resolution to this conflict at the same time all leaders continuing to blame each other for this conflict as well. Over the weekend, russian president Vladimir Putin gave an interview to an egyptian newspaper. He said the following, the ukrainian crisis emerged in response to attempts of the u. S. And its western allies to impose their will everywhere. That they consider themselves the winners of the cold war. Men while, ukraine and meanwhile, ukraine and western countries continue to accuse russia of supplying military personnel and arm to Eastern Ukraine fueling this crisis. As for the negotiations themselves few details have actually been made public. Its difficult to say how far apart these sides are away from reaching some sort of compromise. Although any agreement that they could possibly reach tomorrow in minsk is being met really with deep skepticism especially when you consider that the agreement that was reached in minsk in september has pretty much collapsed in the wake of the swelling violence in Eastern Ukraine. The question becomes, well, whats changed between now and then other than the fact that the separatists have gained significant ground in ukraine, and that people continue to die. Rosemary . Isis has been very successful in recruiting potential jihadis from all over the world, mostly using social media. Now an online guide has popped up that appears to show potential recruits how to sign up and leave their Western Homes been. Will ripley picks up the story. Reporter on the same social media sites where the fbi says isis is actively recruiting western teenagers, a new terrorist training manual. This 50page guidebook for prospective isis recruits looking to travel to syria. Who to call where to go even what to pack. 543. Reporter a 15minute shopping trip. Boots and jackets. A quick look through the closet. We fine pretty much everything we find pretty much everything the handbook says a wannabe jihadi needs for a pill immigration reformage to pilgrimage to isis. The howto guide also includes tips for slipping through Airport Security and sneaking cross the syrian border. How to get there. How to get there without being intercepted by western Intelligence Services how to mask travel, what to bring on your trip. Reporter cnns terrorism analyst says theres no way to verify if the guide actually comes from isis or a sympathizer. Who are they targeting here . This is an englishspeaking jihadi. So theyre targeting an end endlishspeaking audience. Reporter isis is aggressively using social media to recruit American Teens as young as 15. Luring them with false promises of adventure and glory. Analysts say the more westerners who join isis the bigger the threat at home. Now, this good day makes recruiting this guide makes recruiting that much easier. Cnn, new york. To get more on this apparent recruitment guide i spoke with paul crookshank. He joined me earlier from new york. Take a listen. Why do you think are we seeing this type of recruitment manual at this time . Very basic in its form really. Is this a sign of how desperate isis is for new fighters from the west . I think isis has put this stuff out consistently actually on line, on twitter, on social media. Theyve had a consistent program to get recruits from around the world and the western world. This particular howtoo guide is in english, so its obviously directed at englishspeaking wouldbe jihadists from the united kingdom, United States australia, canada those kind of countries. How to western authorities counter a recruiting tool like this one that targets perhaps less discerning young teenagers . Is it even possible to stop this level of recruiting do you think . Its absolutely impossible to take this kind of stuff on the internet if you take down one twitter account, they just create a new twitter account. If you take down one jihadi website, they create a new web address for it. So the Intelligence Services are always one step behind internet providers like twitter and youtube, always one step behind. You cannot shut down this propaganda. Theyre continuing to put it out, particularly on social media. People in syria and iraq reaching out to people in the west. Sometime even reaching out to their friends and trying to persuade them to join what they say is a holy war. Does this put the onus back on authorities on various western countries, various religious leaders, perhaps, to educate these young kids particularly teenagers who are vulnerable to this sort of the sense that theyre going to go on a big adventure . Thats absolutely right. And really what needs to be done is that the muslim communities around the world in the west need to be empowered to take the struggle against isis to argue against isis to say that this is an absolute distortion of islam, thats going to be absolutely critical moving forward if youre going to stop the flow of fighters to syria and iraq. And of course, theres huge concern about what happens when those fires come back to the west. Theres intelligence suggesting that isis is per suiciding recruits to launch attacks when they return to Western Shores and that providing them with training when theyre in syria and iraq. Paul crookshank, up this for joining us. Appreciate it. Thank you. Now back to a story thats been developing these past few hours. Malaysias top court has upheld a sodomy conviction against a key Opposition Leader there. The federal court on tuesday rejected Anwar Ibrahims appeal and upheld the fiveyear prison sentence. He was accused of sodomizing a former political aide. Well connect with Andrew Stevens, our asia pacific editor. Hes in malaysias capital. And this acquittal overturned in whats been a years long legal battle. Anwar ibrahim, if you listen to what he said on cnn is, as defiant as ever. What happened today . Reporter thats absolutely right. I mean he said a brief interview with our john vause, that it is the price i have to pay, and im telling malaysians and all democrats that i will not be silenced. I will continue to for justice and freedom. Ibrahim defiant. Perhaps expecting the decision would go again him given the fact that he has constantly said supported by Human Rights Watch and amnesty initial nin, that this is a international, that this is a politically motivated case. Human rights watch saying this of a politically motivated persecution of anwar ibrahim. The bottom line is that the appeal which was put up by the government to overturn an earlier decision which acquitted anwar has been uphealth. So the appeal was upheld and anwar will spend the next five years in prison. The prosecution was trying to increase that sentence to eight to ten years if he was found guilty. The court which is the highest in the land keeping it at five years. Remember even when he comes out, he will be banned from actively standing in politics for another five years. So its another ten years before anwar, consider actually standing in elections. He is seen very widely as the most credible by the long shot. Described as really the only man who can break the stranglehole of power that the ruling powter has had on ma library since its itsits has had on malaysia. Hes been effect ill silenced once again. So it seems obvious he will want to continue some kind of Political Behavior from behind bars. You wonder how much he can really do but as a charismatic leading figure, it may actually benefit him to be behind bars. Is there a concern of what his many supporters will do . Reporter well anwar has always been clear that he does not want to see a street protest go the way that we have seen in the arab spring for example. That he says yes, he wants to hear the voice of opposition raised but doesnt. The doesnt want the violence to accompany it. Hes been for peaceful protests. Its unlikely or not expected that there is going to be a will have reaction to todays verdict. There has been a heavy Police Presence in the capital, the administrative capital in ma malaysia where the federal court was sitting. He will continue to agitate from prison. He heads the free party coalition. The coalition will continue to make inroads into the ruling partys lead. You remember that in 2013 the last general election here that the opposition did have its most successful ever showing in the election even though they won more than 50 of the popular vote the ruling party through various electoral boundaries gerrymandering was able to return itself to power with Something Like a little less than 47 of the vote. Its an uphill battle for the opposition here. Anwar will claim that this verdict is just another indication of how the political process is distorted in malaysia. The mallation government itself has come out to say that the process by which this appeal of upheld was an exhaustive process. That all due consideration of given to everything. And this is absolutely a fair decision. Anwar points out that that statement came out within minutes of the verdict being handed down. And that anwar claim that that points to some collusion. That certainly hasnt been responded to by the government. But at this stage, hes going to be he will be been bars and his job will be that much more difficult. Still, you get the feeling that this is not the politicalen of anwar political end to anwar ibrahim. The news this his acquittal has been overturned and will serve five years in prison. Rosemary . The former marine is accused of killing chris kyle and another veteran at a gun range two years ago. Kyle had at least 160 confirmed sniper kills during his four tours in iraq. Opening sometimes set to begin on wednesday. If convicted, he faces life if prison. His attorneys plan to use an insanity defense. Now, it may be six months before police in california determine what caused that fatal crash involving bruce jenner. The former olympian was involved in a multiaccident this week that kill a 69yearold woman. Police will look at the cell phone records of all four drivers involved. Its against California Law to send or receive texts while driving. Phones must be hands free. For a closer look at the possible charges that stem from the accident, i spoke with cnn legal analyst and defense attorney mark geragos. This texting issue has come up. How could it or will it play a role in possible charges . Well the texting issue is significant for one reason, if it comes back that theres no alcohol or drugs involved in the system of any of the drivers including mr. Jenner then they look at whether or not somebody committed some kind of an infraction and texting while driving is potentially an infraction. If you have an infraction where you violate either by texting or speeding or something of that nature and a death is caused then potentially it can be whats called a misdemeanor manslaughter. So a misdemeanor is is still a crime, it not as serious as a felony. But that is one of the thing theyd be looking at. Thats one of the reason that i am sure they ask for the phone. They were given the phone of all of the people involve. They probably will either subpoena or do a search warrant on the phone carrier records, as well, to check out the timing and see if what theyre being told is true. Texting of course within Bruce Jenners control. Theres another almost that weve discussed that is not in his control. The question of if he was being chased by the paparazzi or not. He told police that he wasnt being chased at the time and wasnt fleeing. Is it completely ruled out because he said that or is may that not play a role and benefit him . Well it could have potentially it could be a benefit if he said he was trying to avoid or that the paparazzi was chasing him and was acting in some ways detrimental to his ability to drive. His admission to the police if its correct and i always caution if its correct because were getting thing that were not looking at the police reports, but if he conceded that that wasnt a problem, no that will not be a defense, and that will not be something hes probably to use. You mention that a misdemeanor manslaughter charge could be possible if texting possible some negligence involved. What is the worst Case Scenario . How bad could this be . Well the worst Case Scenario any time you have a death, a traffic fatality and they charge with a misdemeanor manslaughter is if you get convicted, then you can do county jail time. You dont go to state prison but you can be housed in the county jail. As a practical matter, generally if you have no record and you dont have a history of speeding or things of that nature they dont ask for jail time. Meaning the prosecutor does not ask for jail time. But when somebody asks the question, whats the worst this can happen yes, its punishable. Any crime is punishable by jail time. Clearly a misdemeanor is punishable by jail time. In these scenarios, do you see a situation where some payout is the outcome . Actually you do. Oft times with a misdemeanor in california you have whats called a civil compromise. And a civil compromise is where there is a payout either through the Insurance Company or the person who is being charged themselves does a some kind of a payment to the victim or victims, and then the victims come forward and say weve been satisfied in your honor, addressed to the judge, we dont want any further criminal proceedings. Thats also a possibility that there would be a civil compromise that would be worked out. Of course no money can replace a life but you worn what would be sufficient considering a woman did die in all this. Mark geragos, our cnn legal analyst, thanks for your time. All right. Were going to take another short break. Ahead, more than two dozen inmates broke out of prison. And police say these skimpy costumes gave them the help they needed. Fine out how it happened.
