What we are seeing in all these fires, especially the rocky fire is explosive growth. Over the weekend, 20,000 acres burned in just about a fivehour period. Thats unprecedented Historical Rate of spread, and we attribute a lot of it to the fact that conditions are so tinder dry, that it doesnt take much for the fire like this to burn so actively. What do you think the extent of the damage is going to be. As you now, whats the extent of the damage. Weve already seen two dozen homes destroyed by the fire. They have worked tirelessly to protect thousands of others that are in the path of this fire. With 60,000 acres already burned, this fire is now creating its own weather pattern. That makes it challenging for us. This fire is going to burn in the direction it wants to go in, and that really means to erratic fire behavior for us, and it means we have to do a lot of work ahead, over 3,000 firefighters taking a stand to protect those homes and slow down this fire. The dry conditions unfortunately will not get any better. We have several more months of fire season ahead until we get a bit of rain. Sometimes in these fires, evacuation orders are not heeded. Are residents listening . We are definitely seeing the cooperation from the community. Thousands of people. Well over 13,000 people across the region this fire is burning in have evacuated or are under an evacuation advisory. His new proposal would require every state to reduce by nearly a third its Greenhouse Gas emissions from coalburning power plants. This would take place over the next 15 years and could transform the way that Many Americans get their electricity in the future. This is one of those rare issues, because of its magnitude, because of its scope, that if we dont get it right, we may not be able to reverse. The fact of the matter is since the Clean Air Act went into effect almost 40 years ago, weve seen air place reduced by 70 and the size of the economy has tripled, so taking these steps is actually good for the economy. Josh, the Supreme Court just whacked the Obama Administration for not factoring in the costs of these measures on business expenses, when it comes to environmental regulation. Was that part of the decisionmaking process at all here . Yeah, and jake, again, what the analysis showed is there would be costses that would be incurred by private industry, as they begin to make some of these difficult changes. You dont think theyll be passed on to consumers. Listen, im relying on news reports i have seen from people who looked it and raised questions about the video themselves. This is no doubt an organization that has targeted planned parenthood for some time. What we know to be true is that planned parenthood provides regular health care for millions of americans across the country. They are not able to use federal funds to perform abortions. That is written into the rules. That is a rule this administration has not just followed, but actually supported. So its clear there are some ideological games being played here, and what this administration and this president has long fought for is protecting access for women to health care, and thats exactly why we want to make sure there is not an ideological effort to wholesale defund planned parenthood that provides those Important Health care somebody at the white house maybe should watch the videos in full. And do you think hes in a place emotionally where he could really even be thinking about such a thing as running for office, given how understandably devastated he is . Well, jake, i think its hard to imagine anybody whos going through a different time that the biden family is currently going through. But what we have seen from the Vice President over the last month or so is that he has really thrown himself into this job. He has some very important responsibilities here at the white house. A lot of important wog is being done, and the Vice President has been an important part of all of it. As you would expect, his hey taken time to spend time with his family as well. He as well as anybody understands what is required to balance those two critically important priorities in his life, and as far as i can tell, at least from my vantage point, hes doing that exceedingly well. When it comes to making a decision about running for president , he will make that decision in a long time. Given the skills and experience he would bring to that kind of campaign, hes earned the right, even the prerogative to take his time in making that decision and announce that on his own time frame.
