Today 14 states have enacted near total abortion bans and in florida, republicans passed a six week abortion ban, six weeks. Thats before many women even know theyre pregnant. How can that be considered anything by cruel. , inhumane. Now republicans try to dress up their extreme agenda as being about states rights but the American People know the truth, they saw when nearly every republican in the senate sponsored and voted in favor of a nationwide abortion ban because thats what this is all about. Republicans deep down want to ban abortions for everyone, everywhere. So thats why this week our senators behind me will be asked consent on common sense legislation to protect womens most fundamental rights. Jot impact this has had on women like amanda forced to wait till near death and suffering from infection before she could terminate her unviable pregnancy in texas. Going to another state to get critical reproductive care they need. States like texas forced to carry pregnancies for days after learning their baby would not survive because their doctors cant legally provide care. Think of the heart breaking story of that 10yearold in ohio that no one believed that the media said and number of people said it wasnt true and turned out to be totally true. Had to go to another state, a 10yearold girl after being raped to be able to get her healthcare. Z men and women are showing umm for decades and freedom that weve stood up for for years. I want to talk about the devastating impact the Dobbs Decision had on the female Service Members but before i do that, i want to respond to a story that broke this morning. We keep talking about since the Dobbs Decision, whenever women and voter haves had a chance to overturn dobbs to reinforce the importance of having women have access to reproductive rights that they have succeeded. Well, now what were learning this morning is that there are billionaires funding efforts to manipulate or voting process to keep women and voters from having a chance to weigh in on this issue. Thats just unacceptable and another example of an effort to try and change Voting Rights and the people vote willing the ones that support them. Mow back to impact on servicewomen and the service and military men and women have o no choices on what state laws they govern womens bodies. Odds are that women who are stationed in republican controlled states and the pentagon enacted policies for reproductive leave for Healthcare Services and thats not nut enough and thats why ive introduced legislation to protecting servicemens and military families access to healthcare act, which would codify the policies and ensure that Service Members and their families can access noncovered Reproductive Healthcare, including Abortion Services regardless of where theyre stationed. A woman in the military was afraid to tell her Commanding Officer and had to go some place to tell her healthcare and afraid to be drummed out of the army. She had a shock and reaction to the abortion and she went into shock and said she was she had to go back to work and afraid to tell anybody why she was so ill. We need tone sure those women like all of the men in the military have access to the healthcare they need. I and Senate Democrats will not stand idly by. In my home state of wisconsin, women in 1849 and i did not misspeak. It was passed in 1849 one year after wisconsin back a senate state. She went to see her doctor and said there was nothing he could do and she had to she didnt get care till her favor reached 101 degrees and sepsis had begun. Another wisconsin couple who i spoke with were told that there were serious anomalies with the pregnancy at 13 weeks. But she was forced to stay pregnant and with an unviable pregnancy and play travel agent to get to another state. Another wisconsin woman reports bleeding for more then ten days after an complete miscarriage after emergency room staff would not treat her. And sadly the list of these harrowing stories goes on and on. Wisconsin women have been left with no good options. Some women with means are forced to travel across state lines to get the care they need. Planned parenthood in illinois is experiencing 12 times the number of monthly patients from wisconsin since roe fell. An influx of hundreds of patients a month. X these are the ones who can afford to travel to access the care they need. Others aredoing it without medical supervision and others forced to carry pregnancies they didnt child abuse. As long as women have to travel to exercise the right to their own bodies and get the healthcare they need, it is our job to help. Our Healthcare Professionals have to travel out of state to get the training that they need to serve their patients. I will not stop fighting till this passes into law. Having freedom to control healthcare, body, and your future, free from government control is a fundamental right and i refuse to let the next generation of women be left with fewer rights than their mothers and their grandmothers. Its not even about trying to grow families. I had to have a d c after having a miscarriage because i was trying to grow my family. Hi a miscarriage in the middle of ivf series and could not begin another ivf procedure without a d c. This was after six weeks. Thank goodness im from a choice state of illinois and able to access that d c to immediately begin another ivf cycle that resulted in my baby girl miley, who is now 5 years old. I was okay and allowed to make cisis. A lot of us are tired from the seemingly endless spike to protect the basic human rights but we can do more. We can pass bills like right to contraception act or the Womens Health protection act and these things allow women to seek the Reproductive Healthcare that they need. When i was deployed to iraq, there was no sanitary control. They put me on the Birth Control patch to skip my menstrual cycle two, three, four months in a row to continue to fly combat missions because i would not have access to san stair splice. Its okay to control my reproductive cycle for the needs of the American People. For the needs of the army, and yet when it comes to choice, when it comes to the rest of my Reproductive Healthcare, i cannot be trusted to make those decisions. Our military women cannot be trusted to make those decisions. This is hypocrisy. Today, tomorrow, and the tomorrow after that, each of us needs to keep pushing. We need to keep working and fighting till we pass legislation that ensures women have the same say that men have and ill stick with this fight as long as i have to. Thank you. Thank you.
