Because i think we have that common ground. I think when you say to someone the past doesnt matter you know, it doesnt matter. Of course it does. In your case, it matters that your father went to a substandard school you know, and it matters that his father before him barely went to scho school. Whereas my father has a college education, my grandfather had an engineering degree. His father before him had an engineering degree. Where we are today has a lot to do with where we start. I am going to be turning 50 soon, so im middleaged and i was one of the last generations to attend the segregated schools. I remember a time where there were whites only water fountai fountains. My memories of that era are very few and very distant but you know, im past midlife. So we have a way to go, a ways to go. I think there will always be these marginal groups who will choose to follow racist ideology just like we have people who choose to become neonazis. Thats its own kind of Mental Health question really or Behavioral Health question. I do believe that the days of children being brought up to believe that my racist superio superior my racist superior and the other races are inferior and therefore i should have economic and social control over other people just because of the color of their skin, thats an idea thats dying out. Thank you to everyone for taking time out of your friday in the summertime to come and hang out with me. Thats that is something that i still cant get over. I cant believe its an overflow crowd. Students in the back, waving to you. I talked to this morning. Thank you everyone for being here and thank you to wendy macau for the roundtable. She is of course a longtime supporter of Young Americas Foundation and also i wanted to, mr. Rodriguez let you know that although a lot of people are wearing che guevara tshirts when i was in college my grandma sent me an antiche guevara tshirt that i proudly wore to my latin american studies course. [applause] you can imagine how well that went over. Specifically i were particularly when they would start on the same day. I knew that was in the lesson plan so it was great. I want to start off by thanking Americas Foundation for having me here today. When they say i was inspired to do what im doing what im doing now as a result of the conference in 2008 its absolutely true. Young Americas Foundation does change lives of students especially when they are constantly in a hostile environment on their College Campuses and what Young Americas Foundation foundation provides a source tools and mentorship is extremely important. I can tell you the work they do really has an impact. Living in washington d. C. Now and seeing all the graduates of Young Americas Foundations programs working and policy positions or media really making a difference really proves how important important are supporting us and how important his organization has been for years. But especially now in the modern age. Obviously im here today to talk about my latest book, assault and flattery and im going to start by addressing how utterly absurd it is that the left is portrayed as the champion of women. Every book comes from an idea or a moment. I have definitely had a few of those moments leading up to the writing of this book. The first came in february of 2012 when nancy pelosi invited 30yearold georgetown law student sandor flock to testify on capitol hill about why taxpayers should foot the bill for contraception. At the time difference and the media she was portrayed as a young woman in her early 20s. That was not true. She had been well into her adult years for a decade before making her statements on capitol hill. My office is in roslyn which is right across the river from Georgetown University where sandra went to law school. After listening to her testimony i looked across the river in disbelief and just thought you know how is it at my age which was 23 at the time of the testimony as a young professional working hard to pay my own bills this 30yearold woman wants me as a taxpayer to pay for anything other than my own medical bills and needs than anything else i should be having in my life. I was in disbelief. I couldnt believe why wasnt that 9 a month that big of a deal for a strong independent woman to come up with. You know the answer to this was that the left obviously likes to a poll people who simply pass responsibility for their actions onto others which aside why i wasnt surprised when sandro fluke was upheld as a hero and of course put out on the 2012 campaign trail. Another moment that led up to the writing of this book came when i was sitting at the 2012th Dnc Convention in charlotte north carolina. My job as a reporter and a journalist is to sit through lots of speeches. For hours and days ive been listening to speech after speech about mitt romneys war on women conservatives hate women. Not only did bill clinton speak on the same night that sandra fluke spoke with the dnc honored a man ann coulter described as having the only confirmed kill in the war on women. Pettitte v. Cameras didnt catch this because it was during a break but because i was there i did. In between speakers the dnc played a seven minute long glorious tribute video to none other than ted kennedy. A reminder they are complaining about the war on women. So as if that wasnt bad enough they plastered the words womens rights champion in all capital letters across the screen on the video that they were playing in this arena. It was Pretty Amazing actually. For some reason they skipped over one of the most important and iconic moments of his life, the time he drove drunk off a bridge wandered away and left a 28yearold Royal Campaign staffer who happen to be a woman to die in his car. No one dared to utter the words chappaquiddick that night. They werent going to talk about in the arena and they certainly werent going to talk about in the media but i sure had plans to talk about it later that night. [applause] luckily at this point. Morgan still had a show. I was booked on a Political Panel for piers morgan show that night and i was on with piers morgan obviously. My friend Richard Grenell who served as one of met romneys security advisers Hillary Rosen who is the woman who face in late famously said ankle romney ever worked a day in her life and dan jones was a selfappointed communist. Before sitting on said i was just hoping that piers morgan would bring up ted kennedy because it would be my moment and thankfully that moment came. In this video that they played back to the convention they showed that rummy debating ted kennedy when he was challenging and proceed in the 90s said in this debate featured in the video that he was prochoice. Obviously he has since changed his position. That didnt stop piers morgan from asking me, katie did it make you uncomfortable hearing that romney espousing the joys of being prochoice . I just responded and said you know, do you know what made me uncomfortable peers, that convention that claims to be fighting the war on women that they would play a link the seven minute video, a tribute to a man who left a woman to drown in his car. [applause] so after that the panel exploded. It was like we cant bring up chappaquiddick, no way. We can talk about how mitt romney bullied a kid when he was 13 but we cant talk about what happened with ted kennedy. So Hillary Rosen stanched defender immediately yelled. Smark and said my comment was below the belt. So im just like all right, whatever. So during the commercial break Hillary Rosen turned to me and said i think what you said was disgusting to which i responded i think what he did was disgusting. [applause] but on a serious note ted kennedy is portrayed as a perfect example of how the left is supposed to behave. He is really a false hero but he isnt the only false hero that the left has portrayed in the media as if there is a difference, portrayed for liberals to live up to. Hillary clinton is also one of those people. Most people dont know about Hillary Clintons real record because on College Campuses she is portrayed as the ultimate female figure who provides a growing example for women everywhere. The fact is she doesnt and are underreported legacy is rapists and sexual predators and im not just talking about her husband bill clinton. Are you okay . To give you a little bit of evidence of this last month the audio was published. To give you a little back story on this in 1975 during her time as an attorney Hillary Clinton took on the case of Thomas Telford taylor a man who brutally raped a 12yearold girl at the age of 41. Clinton said she thought taylor was guilty. The issue isnt her defense. After all this is america and the worst of the worst in our society yet they are entitled to an attorney. Instead the issue is clintons favor after getting taylor out of a lengthy sentence for his crime when she thought he was guilty. He served less than one year in prison. This is what they reported. Quote describing the offense almost a decade after they occurred clinton struck a casual and complacent attitude toward her client in a trial rate before a minor. I had them take a polygraph clinton said what he passed which forever destroyed my faith in polygraphs and then she started laughing. You can hear her several points during this audio laughing and saying that the crime lab lost all of the evidence. The accidental destruction of the evidence is why taylor got off at the crime because he was no longer tied to the crime due to the lost evidence. Apparently the destruction of dna evidence wasnt enough for Hillary Clinton to go on. Instead she attacked the 12yearold victim girl as possibly emotionally unstable and someone hit me exaggerating or romanticizing a sexual experience. A 12yearold. Further clinton wrote in an affidavit at the time i have been informed that the complaint is emotionally unstable with a tendency to seek out older man and to engage in fantasizing. So she went out of her way to attack the victim in the case who was a 12yearold child who just happen to be a young girl. The daily beast followed up with an interview of the victims a couple decades now and she heard this video of Hillary Clinton. She said Hillary Clinton took a case of mind at and 75 in light about me and realize the truth of what she did to me. She is supposed to be for when and . I hear you on that tape laughing. It seems pretty shocking, right . Is newly uncovered audio is one piece of Hillary Clintons long legacy career and life of defending sexual predators. Clintons history of brushing sexual assaults and abuse of young women under the rug for her own personal vertical gain just as the left has done to women in decades is nothing new and a persist today. Fastforward a few years after clinton relieved a child rapist is any justice and youll find for decades she willfully helped destroy the women who her husband former president bill clinton was accused of sexually assaulting her raping. Its funny how the left constantly screams out rape culture but yet they receive t to refuse to address the rate rate that was on elm party. Instead of holding her husband accountable she defamed his female is mentally unstable and looking for money. Her philandering husband could hold onto power which eventually led to her own position as a senator from new york a president ial candidate and president obama secretary of state. Speaking of the state department what exactly did she do that during her tenure there . The pattern of behavior continues. She nor to diluted rampant sexual abuse of minor girls by highranking state Department Employees and under her watch she was accused of routinely ditching his security detail in order to solicit sexual favors from prostitutes and minor children in a nearby park according to an internal memo written by an investigator. The state state Department Security officials stationed in beirut was accused of engaging in multiple sexual assaults. For their u. S. Official was booed for allegedly trading basis for sexual favors. If cbs news first reported last year at least seven of Hillary Clintons security agents routinely hired prostitutes on official trips overseas. This bad behavior was described as endemic. Although the agents were eventually reassigned they werent seriously punished and when investigations are launched into misconduct they were manually shut down by Hillary Clintons chief of staff. The female whistleblowers who brought this to their attention he spoke out against an expose what was going on inside the state department they were retaliated against for doing so. She was run out of Foreign Service and stripped out of her job employed for exposing donald moore when he allegedly engaged in sexual activities with lemon inside his Government Office and with call girls in naples. So this is just a snapshot of clintons legacy of defending sexual predators. She has done it for decades yet somehow is has been portrayed as a womens rights champion. Her record proves the opposite. Hillary clinton will go down in history as americas most famous enabler of abusive and powerful man. But debate about Hillary Clinton and other false heroes like ted kennedy and historical record that comes with ms office and on College Campuses and its my job and the job of the people in the overflow room for students in the job of Young Americas Foundation to break through that. I am often asked why young people in general but specifically why single women vote for the left or tend to lean to the left but you really cant blame them for doing something when they have never been told otherwise. The educational system is about indoctrination of the University System is no different. The only thing they are hearing on College Campuses is a great Hillary Clinton is and how left is the way that women should be leaning towards. You have to be able to go in and tell them that there is another side to the story. In addition in order to effectively fight on campus is very important to understand what exactly students are up against. The left is dependent on ignorance to come push their goals and to push their agenda. The left has been playing a longterm game with women since the 1960s and has been lying about female empowerment and equality ever since. So the question is how do we understand the last . You have to infiltrate the left and go to where they are, go to where the battle actually is. Last year i applied for press credentials to handle the National Organization for Women Conference in chicago. I figured you know now the Largest Organization of feminist activists in the United States with 5000 shooting members and 550 chapters in 50 states. According to the web site since its founding in 1966 nows goal is than to take action to bring about equality for all women, yes all women. You are familiar with the hashtag. Unless of course you are woman who happens to be a conservative or a capitalist. Prior to my applying for the convention i came across a now letter which claimed that the goal for the future of the organization was to expand and diversify membership and ongoing efforts to bring different perspectives to the organization. I was pretty sure i was going to get in and i was pretty sure i would be welcomed with open arms and providing this different perspective of diversity of thought to the conference. It didnt happen that way. Two days before he departed for chicago i was informed that despite being a credentialed female member of the press my press credentials for the conference were being denied. Thank you for your interest in attending this years now conference. As a member of the press. A woman named sarah and shes on twitter by the weight you want to get into contact with her. Press credentials for the conference will not be issued to you. We regret any condemning inconvenience this may have caused. No other explanation was given. I wrote back and said you know as a credentialed female member of it like to know why the conference was denied especially since flights and hotel rooms have already been booked. She never responded to guess who is going anyway . That was me. I was going to go anyway but the only way to attend a the National Organization for Women Conference i found out made me do something i thought i would never do. I had to become a member of the National Organization for women. Im a cardcarrying member who pays dues. Im also a member in Good Standing and after the speech im not sure if i will still have that membership. When my plane touched down in chicago i wasnt really sure what to expect. I knew that chicago was ground zero and the feminist movement was no exception. Chicago after all was the home of sol wilensky Jeremiah Wright and of course barack obama. How when i walked into a conference at the hilton in chicago i expected to see a lot of women they are fighting for their rights but instead the room was pretty much empty. We get the question was why do you care what the National Organization for women thinks . Arent they irrelevant . They are important to Pay Attention to because people like barack obama are paying attention to what they have to say and they take their device when it comes to implementing policy changes and messaging on certain issues. It wasnt necessarily the speeches and this conference that caught my interest at the convention. Instead it was the exhibit hall and so they were selling books about marxism and the feminist movement. Things like oh the communist manifesto is available for purchase at all to pull exhibit tables. I picked up a copy. Things like oh i dont know education for socialists. Communists continuity in the fight for womens liberation. Documents of the socialist Workers Party. These are only two books. I bought five of them. They didnt just get them to me which i thought was weird considering they wanted money for it. Thats capitalism, right . Thats weird. You want me to give you money for these . Arent they free . So thats the kind of material that they were selling at the now conference. So i was quickly realizing that now wasnt about womens rights actually but about socialism that government and capitalis capitalism not abolishing capitalism. When any organization like cpac is deemed heretical this leads to an number of headlines to embarrass the conservative movement. By contrast one of the nations largest womens Rights Groups that condemns American Cattle or some there is no comment about it anywhere. In fact marks teaching is a tiny fraction of the modern feminist agenda and its not a friendship either. It is a centerpiece. From the time of karl marx up until today the progressive womens Rights Movement has hardly been about womens rights at all but the transformation of American Society and the transfer of wealth. Go womens rights have acted as a failed two intentions of progressive activists say. The socialist revolution depended on two things a breakdown of the family and women voting for progressives both of which they have been successful at doing. In the 1974 manifesto. Fire the politics of antiimperialism domestic terrorism bill ayers and the Weather Underground devoted an entire chapter to other womens Rights Movement should be used to advance revolutionary goals calling feminist to join the ranks and their political agenda. They world quote sexism am not be destroyed until that imperialism is overthrown. Its in the collective interest of women to do this and to take full part in building a socialist revolution. We need power. Socialist revolution lays the foundation for the liberation of women and begins dismantling the tenacious institutions of sexism. Now there are only a few hundred copies of prairie fire they were produced in the book has obviously been long out of print. As introduction to the manifesto states it was written to communist minded people but more importantly was written to womens groups and laid the groundwork for a longterm takeover of the feminist movement. This analysis represents the beginning of a process not its final conclusion they wrote. In this manifesto bill ayers who has close ties obviously to the president even though nobody wants to talk about that bill ayers gave women a set of tasks based on his realization of the power of an uprising by mchugh bring to the progressive cause. He said pill our goal is the development of feminism which genuinely determines safeguards and defends the collective interest of women and which puts points in the direction of revolution. We need to build a revolutionary feminism. Women are at the intersection of the crisis and the will to survive. They believe that men act in this male supremacist to women and in order to change society of breakdown in the Family Structure was necessary and in order to destroy that structure they portrayed women as victims. Quote the individual capitalist Family Structure is a wasteful social forum and not healthy for children to grow up in. Its a trap for women. As a sanction form for sexual explication in a hypocritical double standard. The family brief competitiveness among us. If you think the left hates competition they do. The family based allows no future for women to means older women separating from the life of the committee and the ability for single mothers to maintain a household is a monument to womens strength and determination. They should be no surprise according to reports in the United NationsDevelopment Project women living in antifreemarket socialist systems especially in Eastern Europe experience higher rates of poverty. And so the prairie fire manifesto was not on the fringe of far less far left policies positions. They were deeprooted in marxist and socialist thoughts and prevalent in literature. Take for example feminism and the Marxist Movement another book that i picked up at the dow Conference Held the liberation of women is linked to the struggle of the working class to transform all economic and social relations by Mary Alice Waters from 1972. Waters was the editor of the marxist journal of politics in theory and idolized mass murderer che guevara and her writings. In her work she details the bold socialism played in stoking the 1960s revolutionary feminism has the socialist Workers Party and Young Socialist Alliance promoted the idea of womens liberation be necessary to change the economic structure of the United States. Quote with her so since the movement to learn from it to better understand it to help lead it in an independent fighting direction and when the most conscious feminist to frame the most conscious feminists to understand only a socialist revolution to provide the necessary material foundations for the complete liberation of women. So they are saying in order for women to be liberated you have to tear down the capitalist structure. At the same time she wrote we began the process of farming ourselves theoretically and studied the relevant marxist classics more deeply before and try to ground our practice and political orientation the fundamentals of marxism. So marx was a hero for waters who became a hero of the feminist movement so someone should glorify them pointed out, she pointed out that he was right when it came to the socalled oppression of women inside the capitalist Family Structure. She lamented the idea that many women choose to stay home and be a wife and a mother and acknowledge that Womens Suffrage Movement was not built on the idea of destroying capitalism but that was something that needed to be changed for the hijacking and renaming of the Womens Liberation Movement after the 1960s. One thing that people might not know is the Womens Suffrage Movement is actually a conservative movement. It was conservative who wanted women to have the right to vote. It was conservatives who push their legislation that allowed women to get the right to vote. It was the left that voted against womens right to vote and it wasnt until later when it became politically convenient as bill ayers put in his manifesto and many others that they hijacked the movement and credit for being prowomen ever since much like they did with the civil Rights Movement. So a socialist begin to put trade hijacking Feminism Movement that demands movement that demand to create new organizations as womens Rights Groups with an underlying agenda of socialism and redistribution of wealth in america. The National Organization for women was one of them and there are more. Now we have heard a lot about marx but i think we need to take a look at what exactly he said to go straight to the source on the issue. What did he say about women . You can find it on the communist manifesto which is sold at your local socialist bookstore. No, but they really can be found in his communist manifesto. He boldly states his goals of destroying the family in promoting single women in addition to dependence on an allpowerful state government. He says that we plead guilty, but you will a that we destroyed the most hollowed out relations by the social state. Social studies coming to that reader. Does that ring a bell . And so in closing, there are a few questions that we can ask in the modern era that are based on the feminist movement and the left claims to be prowomen in the modern era of rock obama. There are a few questions that we cannot do destroy this idea that the left is where women belong. If liberals really believe that strong independent women can protect themselves, then why do they oppose the right to keep and carry a firearm for selfdefense . Rock obama is the most proin the feminist history as many have classified him, then why does he seek to make women more dependent on the government for everything that they have no remember in the 2012 president ial campaign the Obama Campaign produced a life of julia slideshow and, you know, i always like to hold the left accountable to their own standards, but to their own standards and statements. And they are constantly talking about sexism. And this life of julia slideshow retrace a young woman who was born and dies and her entire life she is dependent on the government for everything from the food to her education and her housing, raising her children without a router, everything. But where was the life of john . Why is it that the left only thought that it was women who should be raised by the state and weaker of the generous and theres no way they could survive any time in their life without the government handout and them holding our hands. On that issue, the right to an abortion, effective some economy, i cannot be conveniently ignored. We often hear that conservatives are against womens health. If they are against womens health, why do they want women to know all of their options and information before they go in to have that procedure . If the left is trying to keep information out of the hands of women on very serious lifelong decisions in that those medical areas exist. And finally if conservatives are so insensitive to women, why has the sexuality of ted kennedy and bill clinton and covered up for years . They have been lying to women in all of us for decades and they have successfully rewritten history. The left talks about women in one way but in reality they treat them very differently in the left has been selling victimhood as empowerment for decades. And i know that i am sick and tired of being defined by the pills that i take for being defined as a victim of my gender and im sure that a lot of women in this room are as well. And im sure that the men are tired of being accused of hating women because you want them to pay their own bills, which once upon a time was an empowering thing to do. In the bottom line is that women succeed your opportunity and free market and our work and not through dependence on the government or socialist policies and we all succeed in this way and the place to push back is on College Campuses and is important for Young Americans to continue the fight. My question is how i want to thank you for your insightful remarks and the covering up of the issue with their own falsely created issue. So what do you think that we should draw side that veil and provide clarity and how can we do that going forward. It is good to see you, doing good work. And that is a broad issue that needs to be addressed issue by issue and in terms of not allowing the left to distract from what the real issues are. The reason they got away with this and this happened in virginia with ken personally and others is that as conservatives we kind of give the American People a little bit more credit than we thought that talking about Birth Control and contraception was kind of below the rim conversation. And it used to be the a woman and her just look nice and now its appropriate to talk about contraception lately. I dont know when that happened. But the issue is if you dont define your own position, then they are able to distract away from what the real issues are. Can kuchen only in virginia didnt really do the best job of defining his own position right away. The Chris Christie did in his run. And he said that this is my position, take it or leave it, leave it on the table, even though he was running against a woman. And so if you dont define your position right away that allows the left to define it for you and allows for it is action on those issues, defining issues right away is very important and then telling people, i think that conservatives want to be polite when it comes to pushing back on those things. Its important to talk about this. The hobby lobby decision is a perfect example and its coming from the highest level. However clinton, Debbie Wasserman schultz, defining positions and standing by them and addressing them instead of acting like theyre going to go away if you dont address them is the best way to kind of focus on the issue that is the most important issue of jobs and the economy and by the way, womens issues, i think, it is also kind of an offensive term. And i dont think that this should be the only one that women are focused on, but yet the left automatically thinks that i want to talk about it. [applause] and i have been saying that as well. What he think that women care about this . Do not think that they care about other things . Is in that kind of absurd that absurdity think that that is the only thing that they care about and theyre too stupid to talk about the economy . So throwing it back at them that way is a good way to start. Hello, katie. I told her that i had three sons and a daughter and i said that id like to adopt u. N. That still goes. Done. [laughter] i live in santa barbara, so i will be at the beach. I would like to ask you about this. Ive seen so many women in good positions and have done some great jobs. So my question is would it help if the women who are in these jobs would speak out more with letters to the editor, editorials, taking a stronger voice with whats happened. So we here nancy pelosi and the rest of them get all this credit. But like i have said in the 41 years that i have worked there, ive seen great women i know they can do great jobs. One of the things that drives me crazy about the left is that they ask it seems like theres no other thought process on the other side of the spectrum. After the hobby lobby decision, the president going on and saying this is an attack on women. There is going to be hell to pay, i am a woman and i am pretty happy about the hobby lobby decision so why do i not matter . So one thing that is completely ignored conveniently is that the entire hobby lobby legal team that fought on behalf of hobby lobby and all of the businesses on behalf of that company were women. They were women. Have you been hearing about that in the media . How this amazing female legal team just won one of the most historic import cases that are country lovers the that we have talked about for years . Now, but they did. And so the great thing, we are going into the media, we complain a lot about media. But the fact is that we have more media now than we have ever had before and its never been easier for everyone to have a voice. And i think it is time to really stand up and for women to say that we dont all think the same. Its ridiculous that we do think that we think the same. And its important for us untrained conservative women to speak out. As i said earlier, you cant blame people for not knowing something if theyve never been told. If theyve never been told theres another side to the story, they will think okay, that is all they know.
