Jones industrials today, getting to that in a minute, but just 43 miles from here in coopertino, california, another tech giant with a big announcement. Apple unvailed two new iphones targets different customers, but is it enough to fend off samsung and google . Joining me now is robert gray of fox business with the details. Robert, apple stock is lower. I dont know, a few different colors, is that enough to get the apple faithful excited . Well, you know, apparently, its still the news, liz, and we got pretty much everything we anticipated. A lot of the views out ahead of time, and im joined by an analyst with gardener. Thank you for joining us on fox business. Pleasure. We talked about the 5s, the higher level and more expensive model, and the less expensive model, the 5c for cheap, we presume, for china, some folks say. Theres three main things that jump out at you . The touch id. The home button here, put your finger there, reads five fingers. How big is that for apple . Thats the wow factor, maybe if there was one from the todays announcement. Thats unique to the iphone. It is unique, and theres different layers why its important. Theres a security aspect for enterprise users so its adding yet one more step in making devices secure. We do more and more with the devices, take them with us, store information, lots of passwords, and so forth. That would be the password, stick your finger there, recognizes it, unlocks the phone. Thats onetouch purchasing, literally. They make it easier to purchase things off itunes. Absolutely. Thats how you purchase your identity through itune. Apple doesnt do it by chance. Right. We are talking about wearables. Liz is talking about that at the intel forum you have today. Not a lot of talk about it, but this is apple putting a toe in the wearable market . Absolutely. This is apple going out with a device that learn what we want as users, what wearables should do, and come out when they are good and ready with something we can wear. Okay. The 64 gigabyte processor, a true computer in the palm now . Absolutely. Maybe now people will not pick up on that versus the color of the gold 5s, but this is the new computing experience of today. And lastly, very quickly, no surprise, good or bad . I dont know that its necessarily bad. I think that the surprise is that the five is retired and 5c is plastic coat. As they said today, pvc free and android free. Got a lot of laughs and chuckles from the crowd here as well, and as apple tumbled today, 80 yards, up a buck, awaiting announcements tomorrow local time in beijing, could be coming, apple and china mobile, waiting to hear from them. Back to you. Liz thats just millions and millions of subscribers, you can only imagine what a big deal china mobile would be. The second anything happens, folks, well break in and get any news to you on that. I personally, robert, dont think the colors are great. Im not mean, but, i mean, oh. Lets go back to the floor show. [inaudible] yeah, true, right. Okay, look at the markets. We have a significant rally on our hands. Well well above 15,000. To nicole on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange with traders at every floor on the planet. Cme group, nicole, let me start with you, announced the major changes and that was surprising on who got the boot. At the close of trading, next friday, september 20th, well have names going out, but first, the names going into the Dow Jones Industrials. Goldman sachs, nike, and visa. They will be in the Dow Jones Industrials in the close of trading on september 20th. The names out of the dow, well, they are all too familiar, bank of america, aluminum maker, alcoa, and hp. Talk to the experts and the people who do the dow and why they picked these three to come out, number one . They are under performing the major markets over the last several years. Despite the fact that hp is a great performer this year, but overall, under performers. Second reason, its a price weighted index. They have low prices per share. They bring in some other heavy hitters to join the Dow Jones Industrials. Liz, as you know, the biggest shakeup seen in the Dow Jones Industrial average since 2004. Its been almost a decade, all right, comprised of 30 names with three new ones at the close of fridays trading. Back to you. Liz i love the sneak attack. I say, teddy, people were not ready for the change; right . Lets bring in the traders. In the grand scheme of things, its 30 stocks. That matters. Its not the biggest deal in the world. To see the markets move today, you tell me, is it syria, a breather, a moment people saying, okay, its not that disstressing of a situation . I think its syria, liz. You know, up 250 points in two trading days. The news cycle changed dramatically visavis syria, decent news from china, but i think we talked about this last week, you know, syria, its all about syria, and thats the trump card for the moment, and clearly, you could flip the other way if the rhetoric turns out to be nothing but rhetoric, and we dont see something of substance to support what seems to be the positive direction of the events in that country. Liz okay. Bob, do you agree with that . As we look at how the rest of the markets reacted, were so much bigger than stocks, of course, treasuries, the yields, throw those up on the screen. You know, give us a sense of how traders really reacted here . Well, the yields here are the only real negative in the short term. Teddys right. The news is syria. The last week and a half, two weeks, its inverse data dependent and shock vulnerable. What i mean by that is when the data comes out poorly like the jobs number did, we start not to worry about tapering so much. You saw when the tapering was a done deal in september, markets sold off. You saw when the conflict in syria might expand to some other areas in the middle east, the markets sold off. With both of those things, sort of being priced out of the market now, we got a really good bid here. The treasury yields are the only thing backing up as much. The yields increasing since may, backed up a tiny bit, but the only real head wind in the short term, but that shock as a vulnerable bothers me. Liz relatively low. Meantime, allen harry, imex, it is true, look at the air coming from the oil market today. You know, coming down 2 at any given point plus, clearly, with less concern about what might happen in the middle east, and i like to remind people, syria is not an opec member, okay . Theres 2. 28 coming from the market. Do you see 105 before you see 110, allen . I think well see 110 before 105; however, we are losing the war premium. I think this is going to be a delayed situation. Its going to take awhile before we figure out what it means, what they have in the way of chemical weapons. Theres nothing three to four weeks from now, any news event spikes again, but fundamentalwise, we are bullish. Liz id like to point out, golds down 22. Gold stocks rolling over, getting anxious. Good to see you. Thank you so much for joining us. 1364. 83 an ounce for gold right now. Stocks moving in and out of Dow Jones Industrials. Intel, the Company Making huge news today, and, you know, theres a new ceo. When a new ceo, a new heard is placed atop a big company, a dow component, nonetheless, its a big deal. They know about the new guy. In may of this year, the ceo retired, and after a sixmonth long search globally, intel came back home to tap a man who started there 31 years ago as an engineer. In the first broadcast interview, we introduce the ceo of intel who gave the address at the forum. Welcome to fox business. Thank you, liz. Liz thank you for being here. Thanks. Liz when i researched you, couldnt find a lot. People were questioning, what kind of name is that . Is that croatian . It is. Liz you started as an engineer, manager, assembly, testing, but this is a moment in time where technology moves at the speed of thought. What was the number one message to get out . The number one message is that movement, that rapid change, is an opportunity for us. Our leadership in technology really provides us an opportunity to lead, and any time theres change, theres a chance to move in there with new technologies, new capabilities. Thats what were about. Liz well, okay, you know as well as everybody that the criticism from analysts and people who want to see the stock go well is that intel didnt lead with things like mobile, but jumpedded in and started getting involved, but what do you need to do differently, what are you, the new ceo, going to do that shows leadership in those areas and, plus, the new trend in wearables . Well, you know, the part on mobile is simple. You just have to focus resources. We have the technology. That Silicon Technology we led for years is a pride for the mobile space now. We move forward in doing that. It takes time to get products out the door and customers signed up. The other thing on wearables we did was we anownlsed today a new family of products called quark, and quark is a smallest xoc. Liz hes holding it there. Lance can zoom in here. Okay. Its the smallest ever made, a fifth the size of the current smallest device using a tenth of the power, and its designed for the wearables and industrial internet of things. Liz do you have customers for this already . Where is it going . In what type of products . Youll see the product in everything from wristbands and watches that are smart and connect to the internet to simple controllers that sit out on air conditioners out in the middle of nowhere signaling back to the home office that says, im okay, im not okay, send a service agent. Rather than send on a schedule, they send agents when needed. Liz samsung came out with the smart watch. Rumor has it, apple has that iwatch. Will your chips be inside the watchers . Theyll be inside a variety of the wearable devices over the next year. Weve already got customers signed up, and we also already have reference designs to go out and sign up new customers as well. Liz are the customers from companies here in the United States . You know, is this a dell or a hp type of company, lenovo . I cant say who it is. There are u. S. And international companies. Liz both signing up for the chips or what they can do in wearables . Well, more wearables. Some sign up for quark and others other products as well. Liz you have the 22nano chip going in 2in1 devices. Who is making those chips now . You have partnerships with acer, hp, dell, apple as well. Well be, in a few minutes, youll show us these things, but tell me which partners appear to be strong for you in the relationship with intel right now. All the ones you listed. If you look at the trail, its a phenomenal product allowing us to get into price points. Youll see 2in1 devices at sub price points. Liz what is 2in1 device . A lab top and tablet in one. The best of both worlds. You can have a tablet mode where its disconnected, and its touch screen, or you can be in a real pc mode. It does both. Youll be able to get that at 4 00, and all the oems listed, all of them. Liz did i miss some . Well, what youre also seeing and what a lot of people, especially in the u. S. Dont see, is theres a whole ecosystem building in asia, especially in china where coming out of the ecosystem and producing these lowpriced tablets. Liz before we go to a break, theres qualcom, heavily ahead in mobile. Theres the british chip architecture company, and every time i talked to intel, they say, theyre a partner, they are not. They are a competitor. They are in 95 of mobile areas. You got want to beat; right . Sure, were here to win markets and get our parts into usable products, but, also, you know, i think what were talking about here is were moving towards mobile, moving our products in silicon, and what we have that differentiates us is Silicon Technology as well. All the guys you talked about dont own their own fabs, dont have the silicon leadership that intel has. Liz spoken like a true engineer. When we come back, well continue showing devices that intel is inside right now. Plus, well talk about potentially the set, the fox business, the stock, dividendses, so much more, again, his first broadcast interview since being named ceo here, only on fox business, and another exclusive, this time, the ceo of adobe systems, the Worlds Largest maker of Graphic Design software with huge ambitions in the cloud. Every investor needs to Pay Attention to what hes going to tell you in just a few minutes. By the way, apple steve jobs tries to kill off adobe in its own way. It didnt work. They are growing, jumping into new markets. Is oracle a new competitor . Stay tuned, well be right back from the Technology Forum in downtown San Fransisco, california. If youve got it, you know how hard it can be to breathe and man, you know how that feels. Copd includes emphysema and chroc bronchitis. Spira is a oncedaily haled copd maintenance treatment that helps open my obstructed airways for a full 24 hours. You know, spiriva helps me breathe easier. She took an early sprinbreak thanks to her double miles from the capital one venture card. Now what was mrs. Davis teaching . Spelling. Thats not a subject, right . I mean, spell check. Thats a program. Algebra. Okay. Persons a and b are flying to the bahamas. How fast will they get there . Dont you need distance, rate and. No, all it takes is double miles. [ all ] whoa. Yeah. [ male announcer ] get away fast with unlimited double miles from the capital one venture card. Youre the worlds best teacher. This is so unexpected. Whats in your wallet . Liz back live at in San Fransisco at the Intel Developers foreign up. I have the wrong number. This is the brand new ceo of intel, first interview since being named ceo. I thought it was 4,000, but now more than 5,000 people here . Thats what i was told. Liz why do the People Matter to you guys . They make the products real. Without them, our silicon is just that, silicon. They make the product, the software, the operating system, everything about the products, these bring us to life. Liz brian started as an engineer 31 years ago as intel. Never got sick of the place . No, never. Its about technology, and if you love technology, this is the place to be. Liz youre going to show Us Technology now that youre passionate about. Go through each one of these. Sure. The whole idea here is to just give you some examples of where our technologys headed and, really, how were moving the mobile space, and first one is one of the new mac book pros. This is the haswell based system, the system everybodys been talking about where you get 13hour battery life, great performance, a core product with allday battery. Liz i just bought this. Did you . Liz just bought it. I gave in, but i had to jetson hp. I have to ask, how will your relationship with hp change if they jettison the personal computer business . Do you think that will happen . You know, i cant predict what hp will do, but we do a lot of business with them on servers and data centers, and thats actually a very large section of the business with them, so no matter what, wehp will continue to be a great partner for us. Liz lilts dell is going private. How will that impact your relationship if they go private and michael dell buys the company . Weve spent time with michael and talked to him over the last couple months going through the process, and our relationship shouldnt change, and if anything, it just continues to get stronger. Hes got a great plan for what hell do with the Company Going private, and i think hell do a good job. Liz show the 2in1. This is what i use, liz. Liz okay, everybody, this is the computer brine uses personally. You can buy these, you know, maybe well have the ceo of lenovo send you one, but whats great about this is its a pc and its a tablet, and its the core base products. You can have your full keyboard, full pc experience, and literally, just a push of the button leer, it pulls off, and its a tablet, fully functional, touch mode, tablet, and its a great experience. What we talk about is 2in1 devices, the best of both worlds. We no longer have to carry multiple devices, but just carry one, the tablet and the pc. Liz stock is down 9 year over year. People watching right now own intel. It is one of the most widely held stocks. Will you continue to raise the dividends . I mean, as a new ceo, these are decisions that will rest, in part, on your shoulders and the board. Dividend and stock buyback are both key programs to us to bring value to the shareholders in other ways. We generate cash. First priority, push that back into the business, research and development, back into new products. Second, after that, shareholder return. We look at both stock buyback and the dividends to give shareholders back some of that money. Liz okay. Hes in the game. The brand new ceo of intel, and, by the way, he follows in a great legacy of leaders, but none of them was a san jose state spartan. Congratulations, your school must be proud. I talk with them regularly. Liz good for you. Great to have you. Thank you so much. Thank you. Liz when we come back, adobe ceo, hes on the dell board, well talk about dell as well. Boy, brand new cloud businesses right and left. Wait until you hear what they have to say on another fox business exclusive. Stay tuned, were live at the Intel Developers forum. Liz markets right now, we are holding on to most of the gains of the day, so much of that attributed, perhaps, to a little bit of tension leaving the markets and concern within traders and investors mind about the syria situation. 8 p. M. Eastern, fox business neil cavuto begins special coverage in advance of the president s speech at 9 p. M. Eastern on the very subject. Peter barnes live in washington, walking up to the very moment. Peter . Well, hey, liz. The president back at the white house now after his meetings on capitol hill with Senate Democrats and senate republicans. Hes up there trying to rally support for his syria strategy. This morning, the white house decided that he announced, rather, he decided to begin discussions at the u. N. Security council as the white house puts it to seriously explore the viability of a russian proposal to secure syrias chemical weapons. That could lead to a u. N. Resolution to put syrias chemical stockpiles under International Control to, quote, ensure they are verifiable and enforceable destruction. For now, an American Military strike against syria appears to be on hold to give diplomacy another chance. The u. P. Security coup sill scheduled a meeting for four oclock this afternoon, but that was canceled just in the last hour or so as they as the parties try to negotiate how to proceed with this discussion on resolving the syria chemical weapons issue. The administration continues to Lobby Congress to make sure that a strike remains a credible option with any credible resolution with syria. After the meeting with the president , harry reid came out telling reporters that as far as the u. N. And syria are concerned and a Congressional Senate resolution on addressing that, the strategy is wait and see. What we have going on now with the International Community is a positive development, but its only just that, its a development. Its important to remember that syria has an extremely, extremely low level of credibility. And just to drive home the importance of the president s comments to the nation, tonight, the latest fox news poll on syria asked people how is the president handling syria . 29 said they approve of the handling of the situation there, and 60 said they disapprove. Liz . Liz peter barnes, live from washington, d. C. Okay, so, as we know, not only did stocks start to rise, and they are still continuing so, but gold and oil fell, gold down around 22, a stunning drop, at least when it comes to the market psychology of commodities. What are the big movers in relation to that and Oil Moving Lower as well . Sandra smith right there with the big movers, sandra . Hey, liz, back on the data, here are commodity movers right now. Oil prices, as mentioned, seeing a significant plunge in todays session, on 107 a barrel, down a full 2 on the session, and just to give you an idea, the selloff seen over the past couple of days, a lot of analysts that ive been talking to in the oil markets trying to really price what the premium, the syria premium was in a price of a barrel of oil, obviously, a lot coming out now, a 2 sell off, wholesale gasoline prices seeing a significant decline, and gold down 20 bucket bucks on the session, the oneweek chart, continues to fall from about 1400 a troy ounce, and meanwhile, guys, look at the sectors. Whats moving on this right now . In the surgery sector, a huge green arrow for the markets yesterday, mixed trading, the mixed action there, and if you look at the Dow Jones Industrial average, the leader now, general electric, worst performer, hp, of course, coming out of the dow on september 23rd. Back to you. Liz and you just heard, brian, exclusively here on fox business, talk about the relationship with hp, make it sound no matter what happens in the pc business, the server business is huge, billions of revenue, important business between hp and intel. Coming up, graphics and how they look on computers. Lets peek over the shoulders, looking at beautiful things here at the Intel Developers forum. Guess who creates the graphic world . Adobe, a fox business exclusive with the abobes ceo. [ tires screech ] [ male announcer ] 1. 21 gigawatts. Today, thats easy. Ge is revolutioning power. Supercharging turbines with advanced hardware and innovative software. Using data predictively to help power entire cities. So the turbines of today. Will power us all. Into the future. [ male announcer ] one pill each morning 24 hours. Zero heartburn. Liz more than 5,000 developers here. You know, that says a whrot considering apple is drawing quite a crowd just down south in coopertino, california for a big announcement. Intel is inside the mac book air, not the iphones yet, but that could change with the brand new announcement of the tiny quark chip that brian, the new ceo of intel shows us. Fascinating stuff. Shares of netflix right now, record high today. Lets get to nicole on the New York Stock Exchange floor. Nicole . Great stuff, liz, more great stuff here. Net flick, new alltime high, folks. Remember the 300 stock . It went down to 50 bucks, everybody thought it was done. Well, no, not so. In fact, it has jumped to the new alltime highs today. Lets break it down today and tell you why this is happening here. First of all, the stock is up 227 this year. Also, they continue to add some distribution, and each dollar made is spent on revenue and original content for subscribers, more subscribers, more money, more content, a great circle working for netflix. By the way, liz, rbc put a new price target at 330 up from 280, and you know, from the shows, orange is the new black, house of cards, original content, but new highs, back to you. Liz survivor stories are fascinating in the market. People count out just doesnt happen, survive, and, you know, turn the hit show survivor into Silicon Valley companies, adobe would win. They survived all kinds of attacks. The worst being from apple founder steve jobs to back a couple years ago called adobe products horrible. Guess what . The customers did not think so. Adobe moved on, up, creating new businesses and facing adversaries now because of the businesses. They are going into Digital Advertising and digital marketing, and so now its oracle and google to fight against. The fighter in chief and ceo of adobe, plus, he sits on dells board too. Well talk about that too. Great to talk to you. Great to be back. I think three days is not enough in the valley to cover exciting. Liz you were an original, always joined us nearly every single year, and each year another story for you. This year, it is a clear win for adobe because you moved from packaged suites of software to the cloud; correct . Its been really exciting. You know, we said theres two big things to do. The first is rethink the entire Creative Business and move into the cloud with the introduction of the creative cloud, and equally exciting emerged into a brand new area called digital marketing, which i think is the most explosive category in the enterprise. Liz a couple years ago, everybody said, what are you doing . Arent you photoshop. If thats a verb, cant you just rest on your laurels . You said no. Now we see why you bought this. What do you do with the business now and how you compete against the oracles of the world . Absolutely. Every business has to move on life, think about replatforming the website, whether youre mather card, kia, fox, and you have to think about what experience you want digitally on life, how you move commerce. The entire infrastructure of enabling a marketer to have a brand online to move the presence online to interact with customers, and to actually use data in the world of big data to provide customized delivered experience, thats what adobe does. You shifted to the cloud, how many users you have now . We just finished the quarter. We said we would be able to move over a million subscribers to the cloud in the first year, which i think would be the fastest transition ever to a cloudbased model, and were ahead of that. Liz a lot of that is free; right . What about paying customers . They are all paying customers, actually, liz. Theres a significant portion above that who are trial customers, but its really reimagining the creative process, all the products available on the cloud. Its always automated. Its, you know, updated whenever you need it. Liz well, your comment about companies always having to grow and morph resinates now because while photoshop was the original ability to craft photos in different ways, instagram has it directly on the smart phone. How do you battle that . We focus on photography, dealing with pictures across all devices. We have a product called revel, dealing with pictures whether they are ipad, on a smart device, whether they are in the cloud, and when you talk about photo shop, we continue to push the envelope on magic, and being able to do things that people look at it and say, wow, how did they do that . Liz well, dont google me. Some people, crazy people photoshopped pictures of me, and you say, how did they do that . The point being that adobe is growing. You brought a product thats brand new. Can you show it to us and tell us what it is . Id love to. Id love to. As part of the creative cloud, were trying to reinvent the entire creative process. Adobe, traditionally, has not done anything in hardware, but when you think about it, its practically impossible for people to use a mouse to actually draw. We said, why not push the envelope . If tablets are used for drawing, if tablets are used to, you know, figure out how to get precise representation, and we have both a stylist, its a brand new stylist, you keep all your assets, may be in the crowd directly on the pen so you go from device to device, and it has a ruler. Liz work with iphones . Works with all ipad devices right now and android. You know, we delivered a set of applications for all tablet devices, and what that allows you to do is draw naturally. Liz what do you think of the apple announcement today . There was a couple announcements. As you know, the 5c, the 5s. Whats exciting is as a leader in digital photography, the more they push it on cameras, people take more pictures, requiring more software. Liz before we go, yourself is on the board of dell. Theres a vote to go private in a couple days. Why go private at this point, and do you feel michael dell is the best option for this Company Versus that carl icahn bid . Well, i think michael has done a great job of reinventing the company and talking about solutions, and where the Company Needs to go, and, you know, as a board, we said that what we need to do is really have a transformation for the company. We think its a good thing for dell as michael reinvents the company, and its a good thing for shareholders. Liz voting for michael dell. I will. Liz good to see you. Thank you very much. Great to be back. Liz you know what i think . The song, im still here, because adobe is still here. Thank you so much. Coming up, the closing bell rings in just 15 minutes. Apple unvailing the new iphone 5s and 5c as we told you, but forgot about the phonal. Should you buy the stock . Coming up, who has, howard ward, the Biggest Holding in the fund is apple. Why he thinks the stock is still cheap falling again today, yeah, cheaper than it was yesterday. Well have howard after the break live right here from San Fransisco. Liz we have a crowd filling up here in San Fransisco, california, day one of the sixth annual three days in the valley. Tomorrow, live from sony playstation, dont miss it. Today, huge news that was expected out of apple, but it was not a good telegraph stooch that the stock is down 2 , again, and this happens often when apple unvails new products, theres a disappointment factor, but, yes, today, the stock falls on news of the new phones, different colors, but im sorry, look what i got. This is my iphone 5 with the bling and bedazzle. This is more exciting than light blue, isnt it . A guy who owns a chunk of stock in the fund, howard ward, chief Investment Officer of the gamco growth fund, howard, you have 54 thowrs shares of apple, down today, what do you think of the announcement . Well, i think it was pretty much as telegraphed. To me, the one mystery that remains out there is whats going on with china mobile. Theres been a lot of high level expectation and rumor that they would use today or tomorrow to announce a definitive deal with china mobile, which you know, has over 700 million subscribers, not happened yet. Id like to think they announce that tomorrow, but, to me, thats the missing link. Theres a little of disappointment also that the pricing was not low enough for some peoples liking. Now, i have to tell you if the pricing was lower, wall street would be upset that the low prices infringes on the margins so the company is walking a fine line here. They have to bolster the market share without sacrificing margins. Its not easy to do. Thats the tradeoff. Margin versus volume. Liz well, listen, wall street is classic, what have you done for me lately, never satisfied. You should be satisfied. You were on the show back in april, i believe, about april 29th, or so, and you picked apple, up 17 since. Priceline up 38 since you picked it april 29th. You got three new names, howard, right now, but before that, what do you think happens by years end . We got a couple months left. What do you think of the s p 5 hurksz 500 at the end of the year . I think theres a bit of a positive story developing here with the Economic Data in the United States as well as the eurozone, china, and japan all beginning to improve, and so i see some acceleration in growth, certainly better expectations for growth for next year as we move into the final couple months of this year, and i think the market moves higher. Id say 15 times 117 earnings on the s p, the con consensus expectations for next year, a good target for year end this year. At the end of this year, we should be discounting expectations for next year. That gives you about 5 , upside, not a lot, but over three to four moments, a reasonable, annualized return. Liz well, then, lets throw up on the screen the stocks you like right now, three of them, bea aerospace is one of them. You like google right now, and continental resources. Tackle dea aerospace right now. Aerospace is a touchandgo business. Where do you see that . Why is that the choice .
