Hillary clinton in the Lone Star State today holding fundraisers in dallas and austin as her campaign deals with new fox news polls that show many trump leading the former secretary of state on two key issues. Well tell you what those are. But there are some surprising wins in those same polls for clinton, so well bring in our political panel. How these numbers could change tactics on the trail. And the search continues for that black box of egyptair flight 804. Officials have now confirmed the grim discovery of body parts and wreckage but still no sign of the main fuselage of that plane. And were lending more about learning more about the passengers, about the crew and about the planes two pilots. The two men who shared more than just their first names. Well get a live report. Will this crash actually shut down certain routes that go through countries with sketchy security . Be what does it mean for you when you travel . Captain chuck nash is here to tell us if americas airports and airplanes are vulnerable. Plus, hedge fund wipeouts. More on mickelsons money. Were going to go inside leftys wallet. Wait til you see what the pro golfer keeps in miss wallet. And charlie breaks it. Were less than an hour to the closing bell on this friday, lets start the countdown. Liz here we go. As the fed fears fly away, tech takes flight. Markets are higher right now, but its going to be a horse race to the finish. Will we end higher for the week . Right now the bulls have wings, but to achieve real liftoff to win for the year, we need to close above the current key levels on your screen. Look at the dow, 17,425, were at 17,500 right now. This is for the year, remember. The s p comfortably above the 2043 threshold, the nasdaq not even close right now. But to tech, which is doing really well, and you can credit an old School Silicon Valley name for the gains on the nasdaq. No unicorn here. Applied materials makes the equipment that helps Companies Like intel and qualcomm and invidia make semiconductor chips. They came in with a big Third Quarter profit win, demand particularly strong for smartphone chips. That helped in a big way. We should check intel and qualcomm because that number may bode well for those names. Intel better by nearly 2 , qualcomm up 3. 25. Qualcomm tends to do a lot of business in smartphones. And advertisent the season for soup. Campbell soup shares missed quarterly sales. Weak demand here in the u. S. Not just for soup, but for its signature drink, v8, falling to 59. 76. Weve got this breaking right now. Youre looking at live pictures of the Presumptive Republican nominee, donald trump, speaking to the National Rifle association. The billionaire businessman once having supported a ban on assault weapons now changing his tune, vowing to end gunfree zones in schools and on military bases. His stance in pretty sharp contrast with democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton who has made stricter gun control laws a central ingredient of her campaign. Peter barnes has been following the speech, and, peter, donald trump argues that a concealedcarry permit is, quote, common sense. I know he has one, but the flipflop on assault weapons is catching some people with question marxs here. Reporter yeah, thats right. And thats the challenge because gun owners have been very important republican voters. So this is a very important speech for him today and a very important crowd for him to talk to. And by the way, liz, he just picked up the official endorsement of the nra. But if you look at some tweets of nra members, you can see what kind of challenge he has in winning over gun owners. One nra member tweeting today, quote trump wrote in his book that he hates guns and sported bill clintons ban, thats the ban on assault weapons, back in the day. Cant be trusted. A second nra member tweeting trump is pandering. Do not trust him. If you do, you are making a huge mistake. He has and will change his mind. So this is a very important sales pitch for him as he tries to rally the Republican Base ahead of november against Hillary Clinton. Liz . Liz okay. Thank you very much, peter barnes. Lets take a look at some gun stocks. They tend to move on any kind of speech like this. We do have them moving higher. No massive jumps. Vista outdoors up 2. 5 , smith wesson up under 1 . By the way, look, the nra may be giving donald trump a big move right here and a win, but what about a finger on the Nuclear Button . Oh, boy. Coming up, our political panel, julie probeginy and kelly ridell, discuss the he said she said battle between trump and clinton and the he said she said on the new polls out. Whos most qualified and unqualified to be president. Lets get to that breaking news in the disappearance of egyptair flight 804. Investigators have found new wreckage from the crash including luggage, passenger seats and human being body parts. This according to an egyptair official. The telegraph reporting one of the pilots of that flight was a cheerful and deeply religious man who would pray onboard and helped others find the direction of mecca using the flights navigation system. Dont know if there are any rules against that. Both of these gentlemen named mohamed, but by all reports both of them always wanted to be pilots when they grew up. Fox news kitty logan is standing by with what else investigators have discovered in their surgery. Reporter liz, well, finding items from the plane is, of course, a very important breakthrough, but it is just the start of a very long process of finding out what happened to it. First, the recovery of the wreckage needs to happen and then a full investigation. Now, earlier today Egyptian Navy ships retrieved some personal belongings and wreckage. They also found human remains, sadly confirming that none of the 66 passengers and i crew is likely to have survived that crash. There is no sign yet of the main body of the plane. The wreckage found so far is located around 180 miles north of the egyptian coast, not far from where the last signal from the doomed flight was picked up. Its spread around a 40mile radius indicating perhaps that the plane had not broken up in midair. This oil slick was also picked up by satellite images not far from that crash area either. It may have come from the plane. It appears this oil did not catch fire and other satellite images dont indicate an explosion onboard the plane. Other than this there is still very Little Information on what may have caused the crash, why it swerved suddenly. Its cruising altitude remains a mystery. The plane was flying in good weather. The pilot had around 15 years flying experience. None of the passengers were on terror watch lists and no terror group has claimed the downing of the plane. The egyptian president today offered his condolences to the relatives of the lost loved ones onboard, but so far the authorities cannot give these agonized relatives any answers. Those will only come when the black boxes are recovered and that data analyzed. So far theyve not been located although that search is p ongoing. Liz . Liz yeah. And, remember, if its in the water, it takes a long time to locate that kind of thing. Thank you very much. Here in the u. S. The safety of american airports the top priority in the wake of the egyptair crash. The tsa holding a News Conference at chicagos Ohare Airport along with illinois senator dick durbin and chicago major rahm emanuel. Tsa administrator Peter Neffenger said he makes sure travelers are more secure by checking his workers constantly. Listen. Anytime you have a trusted population, you want to verify the trust of that population. We run them continuously against terror screening databases looking for affiliations with people who are in those databases or in databases associated with that and then looking at their criminal history, background check. And we do that ourselves regularly with the intelligence community. Liz but if a flight originates in a sketchy country, jeff flock, youre at ohare right now. How can they check that . That, i think, is the real weak link perhaps here. Reporter that is absolutely a weak link, and of course, theyre balancing this all, liz, against this problem right now with lines at security. Curiously enough, the lines are not too bad today. Of course, the tsa administrator was here, the boss was here in addition to the mayor and the senator from illinois, and so there you go. And, in fact, they announced a number of measures that they will take in order to try and beef things up here at ohare to reduce the number of lines like transferring 58 tsa agents to chicago. Theyre going to take 100 agents that are parttime now, make them full time. Theyre going to hire by august another 250 agents, and theyre going to put k9 teams in is that they sniff you, then you get to go through i the tsa precheck line. Heres a guy who was dreading coming to chicago. Yes. Well, not coming to chicago, but leafing from chicago. Leaving from chicago. [laughter] reporter well, once you get in, you never get out. Yes, yes. Reporter the lines, youre a canadian, yes . Yes, i am. Reporter lines in canada . Yeah. Reporter real bad . Its gotten worse, yes. Yeah, but i hear that this ones going to win out. Reporter you lucked out today. The boss was here today and i leave you, liz, with a picture of this line thats not so bad today. Ive seen it a lot worse. Liz depends on the airport. And, listen, i think that it is really important to make one important point, jeff, and i know youd agree with me. To me, a great flight is one that lands safely. [laughter] last we checked, we havent had a crash since 9 11 that was due to terrorism, at least here in the united states. So, you know, its really, its really kind of reporter im with you. Liz im not going to beat up on tsa at this point right now. Reporter its hard work. Its not an easy job. And you know what he said today was dont blame the agents, for god sakes, if theres a long line. Theyre doing their best. Ive never seen an agent, you know, try to hold up a line intentionally. Liz yeah. There are accusations of slowdowns and things like that. Maybe, were going to look into that. We have been looking into that at fox business, but give credit where credit is due. Jeff, thank you, and thanks to your canadian passenger. Later were going to talk to captain chuck nash about this tsa security, the search for the black box of egyptair flight 804, protecting americas skies from terrorists and will we start to see only closures of certain routes to scary countries. Liz weve got breaking news right now. Lawn. The white house lawn has just been cleared after an incident listen, details are very sketchy, but there are all kinds of reports that there was a very tense situation just a few minutes ago on the white house lawn where there were some serious concerns about security. The lawn has now been cleared after this incident. Any other details that we get, were going to bring them to you because, again, it was supposedly very tense and very dramatic. All right, the dow up 51 points is still looking to hit its fourth week of losses . That would be the longest losing streak in a year and a half. We need to close above 17,535 to be up for the week. You can see were not there yet. Look, that nervousness is enough for investors to drain the tub of cash theyve got in things like mutual funds. According to thomson reuters, last week 4 billion left u. S. Mutual funds and etfs, and nobody, perhaps, is feeling the pain worse than an area other than mutual funds, hedge funds. In 2015 hedge fund shutdowns outnumbered startups for the First Time Since 2009. Looks like the partys kind of winding down in hedge fund worked. York Capital Management founder jamie dynan says much of this can be chalked up to inexperience. Listen. I mean, everybody who left wall street used to start restaurants, then theyd say im going to start a hedge fund. Most of them probably really didnt know what they were doing. Liz how right is he . Listen, hes right, can i tell you . Jamie dynan is very, very smart, highly respected, and hes talking on wall street week tonight, 8 p. M. Eastern. Much more of that interview. The iconic show has a brand new home on the fox Business Network. And stick around afterward for stossel tonight. Johns new time, 9 p. M. Eastern. One industry seeing a snapping a losing streak. Oil rigs for the first time in nine weeks, the rig count did not fall. Theyve been shutting down rigs right and left because theres just been oversupply and overpumping. Well, this is happening as oil heads for its second weekly gain due to supply disruptions in nigeria and canada. Looking ahead to next week, whatll matter more fed fears, Economic Uncertainty or outright data . Lets get to the traders. Jeff, at the nymex oil has held a leash to the equity world at this point, and now you start to see the rig go up because we saw temporary supply restrictions in nigeria. Let me stress temporary. Wont we continue to see this march of too much supply and once again a mistake when it comes to oil guessing . Well, i dont see that really. I think were, again, this market is behaving very, very well here. I think, again, with that rig count a very number that you cant really count on that much. It is showing a trend that maybe now theyre going to stop shutting them down because now theyre coming up as far as price is concerned now. And we may be working our way, as i said in the past, were probably going to creep higher. I think by the end of this quarter were going to be in the low 50s. It could be a case where suddenly some rigs are going to restart, a little more profitable to pump your oil. Liz okay. Well, i still think that we are going to be seeing that supply continue to march higher, and its just going to be a problem because the canadian wildfires over, under control. Nigeria still has some attacks on its pipeline, but this may be temporary. In chicago were looking at perhaps a snapping of certain loss streaks. Not quite yet for the dow, but double witching, we can throw up what that means, but its basically expirations of certain options and certain futures. What are you seeing on the floor right now as people position for monday . You know what . Right now were looking for upside. I think right now what youve seen is a mid mild correction and just an overall up trend. Ive been talking to clients and guys in the pits, and were looking for a challenge of, you know, that 2080 level. And, you know, right now there are plenty of catalysts that are giving the upside bias a little more of of a push going into next week. Liz okay. Push into next week. And by the way, were getting some major key data next week. Among it, a revision in gdp. So were looking, tim, at a possibility that the numbers slightly better than this horrible fivetenths of a measly prosecutor the last time around. Percent the last time around. We could be off to the races, maybe . I dont know the that were going to be off to the races, but i think this weeks been constructive for stocks given that the probability of a rate hike in june has gone from 5 to 35 . The markets certainly did not get hit nearly as hard as some people might have expected under that scenario. And youve had, you continue to have a little bit of outflows from mutual funds. Some of that cash could come back in we continue to hold the low 17,000 level in the dow. The transports have held the 7500 level pretty nicely, theyre up four of the last five days, and the russells having a very good day today, up over 3. 25 . 1. 25 . Liz and remember, those are small and mid cap, gutsier stocks. Tim, joe, jeff, have a great weekend. Weve got the russell 2000 up 1. 25 or 13 points. We now, as i promised, got more information. Weve got an update on the situation on the white house lawn that has been cleared by the secret service. We want to stress we do not yet know why, but we have a cameraman who said that the secret service had their weapons at the ready. Now, they were not drawing them and pointing them at anybody in particular, but they were clearly ready. We are locked in place at the white house with those cameras. The briefing door room is still locked. The camera crew not able to get out. And its something thats slightly unusual here because the crew is being sequestered downstairs in the basement. That happens to be where the fox booth is. Crew members stayed down there for now, so were getting those reports from the inside. You do see police on the screen here, but no real, massive activity except for a squirrel thats moving very stealthily to the left. We shall see what happens there. But we will be right back with much more. The Dow Jones Industrials up 45 points. Weve got much more ahead. Today tuned. The eclass has 11 intelligent driverassist systems. Hillary clinton wants to abolish the 2nd amendment, just remember that, were not talking about change, here, she wants to abolish the 2nd amendment. Were not going to let that happen, were going to preserve it, cherish it, were going to take care of it. Liz donald trump just now getting the endorsement of the National Rifle association. Lets bring in democratic strategist and Fox News ContributorJulie Roginski and kelly ruddel. Great to have you both. Cant be a surprise, kelly, hes been vocal about supporting the nra and the right to own a gun. Now hes going backwards and changing his stance, he once said assault weapons should be banned, he changed that, what does this mean for the other side, Hillary Clinton, whos very honestly taken the very opposite side. I mean this, is the key difference between donald trump and Hillary Clinton, and quite frankly, the nra endorsement did come as a surprise today given the fact that no one really expected it on the conservative side, and he need this endorsement, one million active members, the nra is crucial in getting the grassroots out there and activated for the general election. And one thing that chris cox did say and the nra did say is donald trump has been consistent on position for the 2nd amendment since he entered the race in june. In all of the stump speeches and rallies he consistently calls for the abolishment of gunfree zones at schools. He stands up for the Supreme Court decisions about concealed carry, hes been very consistent on the issue, and he needs this base. Liz julie, what do you think about that . Very nice that donald trump has been consistent on the one issue for the 11 months has been talking about it. I happen to remember when he had a very different issue and those of us in the new york media market remember that as well. The reality for donald trump is that he will say whatever he needs to say to whatever audience hes saying it to. If he were running in the democratic primary which you dont know where he stands because hes been a republican for a short period of time he would have said something very different. If im an nra conservative, do you trust him . I dont trust him. Liz can we go from being a Business Network to the fox poll showing economy is number one, front and center for all of the voters. Interestingly, donald trump comes out ahead of Hillary Clinton in a head to had matchup when it comes to trusting which candidate with the economy. That may have surprised some people. Not surprising to me, what donald trump has done is what a candidate does after the primary, consolidated base or on the verge of consolidating the base. She has not consolidated hers, his numbers are slightly up now. See where we are after the conventions in the summer and see what happens there. I dont believe hes going to be more trusted on the are Going Forward because again, when you explore the totality of Donald Trumps record, four bankruptcies, last time we saw his taxes, paid zero in federal income tax, the last time we had access to federal income taxes. When that is more absorbed by the electorate, questions about his handling of the economy. Liz kelly, he wins on national security, too. He beats former secretary of state Hillary Clinton on that . Yes, that is also a key indicator going into the fall, which turns out the electorate is do you feel safe . Do you feel safer now than eight years ago, and i think the answer is no. Just look what happened with the paris plane crash. Donald trump was quick to call that out for what it was, for what it may be, islamic terror, and hes been very honest and forthright about this issue. Liz what do you guys make of this one . This is in the same fox news poll. Question was whom do you trust with the Nuclear Codes . Meaning when you get to push that code and set off a nuclear bomb, Hillary Clinton wins by 11 points, which is interesting if people feel that donald trump is better on national security, they dont think hes the one who should have the codes. Hes erratic. Do you trust somebody that the majority of the population considers to be erratic, that is a mathematical fact. Julie, that is not true. Kelly, let me finish my thought. He is erratic, the only person i remember him praising as a european leader is vladimir putin, who i think is the biggest threat to our world security. Is this somebody you trust with the nuclear code . I certainly wouldnt. I think it is someone you definitely trust with the nuclear code, that is the line the left is using over and over again. Liz this is a fox poll. Let me be clear, this is a fox poll. Yes, im saying from the left establishment, from pundits this is something theyre trying to engrain in the populace. Hillary clinton went to libya. Liz trump supported her doing it. She got rid of moammar gadhafi, huge mistake, the rise of isis is to blame for that decision, it was a disaster. Shes got Foreign Policy questions she has to answer for as well. Kelly, you know who liked and wanted her to go libya and advocated for . Donald trump. Donald trump was a private citizen and wasnt getting the Foreign Policy reports. Hes not getting them now, so. Liz speaking of security, i need to interrupt, we have more on the situation with the white house lawn. The wires are calling it a lockdown. White house on lockdown. The lawn has been cleared but now we have that the white house is on lockdown after reports of what sounded like gunshots. Sounded like gunshots. It sounded, according to police, that somebody had shot to the west of the white house. Thats why secret service, as i reported earlier, had their guns at the ready. We dont want to say drawn but at the ready, and let me get to peter barnes, were hearing from Leland Vittert of fox news, nearby in the building. Please explain. Reporter thats right, leland talked to a witness who said that a secret service agent, division uniformed agents were yelling, quote, this is not a drill. Uniformed officer at scene says that it will be a while until this situation is resolved. Were monitoring developments there. We dont have any more oo ooch more information than what youve been getting off the wires, liz, obviously were watching it closely. Our colleagues in the news media were told to go downstairs in the Briefing Room area and the adjoining office space where all of the news organizations. Liz hichs unual, eter corrt . Repter ery usua tha is usual iveeen theockdn tuatns, at h nev ppen to , obousl the cretervi fls ts is very serious situation and that peoples safety is paramount. Liz okay, we have from leland, and forgive me if im repeating what peter said, hes on the north side of Lafayette Park, and he was speaking to witnesses who said that the secret service came through the park yelling at get their, quote, m 4s out. This is from leland speaking to some witnesses. Ing to come right back, 25 minutes before the closing bell rings, well get you more in just a second. Dont go away, please. Verizon is considered to be the frontrunner or a front runner a crowded field that includes a bid by dan gilbert, the founder of quicken loans and yahoo Ceo Marissa Mayer gave weeks of presentations in the bid to sell the company at higher prices. Liz it appears this incident at the white house is far from over. White house is now at least on lockdown. Were also hearing that the fbi is responding now to reports of shots fired near the white house complex as theyre calling it. We have this from fox news, crews and reporters, they are being held inside the Briefing Room. So they cannot get out at this point. Secret service apparently, about 20 minutes ago, came out yelling with their hands on their guns saying there was apparently report of shots or a shot fired. No word yet on whether thats true. Theyre trying to figure this out. You dont see any activity, theyve cleared the entire scene. I want to bring in captain chuck nash, 17 blocks from there in front of our cameras. When you hear shots fired, it could be a car backfiring or somebody with a gun . It could be. At this point, nobody really knows, but if you were to brandish a firearm and discharge it where this supposedly took place which is the corner of 17th and pennsylvania avenue, thats by the Old Executive Office building, which is half a block from the white house. That would probably be the dumbest place to do Something Like that. And with donald trump today speaking in front of the nra, if this was an intentional act to draw attention, its probably going to be successful. I think thats an excellent point. Donald trump just got endorsement of the nra, National Rifle association and saying lets get rid of gunfree zones. You talk about that would be the dumbest location to do it right there, its so heavily guarded, we know dont know what this is, could be a car backfiring, but sometimes people who get guns are crazy or mentally ill certainly, and theyre not so smart anyway. The president is not there, at Andrews Air Force base at the moment. He reportedly is safe. When weve got reporters in lockdown and held in the basement, thats highly unusual. Ive been at the rotunda when something happened, a suspicious package, they wouldnt let us out and locked every single door. We were able to lean out windows and see what was happening . Well, the secret service obviously takes security very, very seriously. When people think of the secret service, they think of the uniformed guys with the earpieces with the stern looks and the sunglasses following around the president. They are a uniform division and the uniform division of the secret service is all over that capitol mall and the complex around the white house. So Lafayette Park across the street from the white house, if you were to walk out the front door and walk straight through, you would walk right into Lafayette Park, which is a popular Tourist Destination because people come since pennsylvania avenue has been closed off and its a pedestrian way only since 9 11, but people would walk up to the fence and take their pictures and everything. Liz let me interrupt you here, i have this from the Washington Post. The Washington Post is reporting that someone has been shot and wounded outside the white house. Again, im attributing this to the Washington Post, but police have said a person was shot outside the white house and that the u. S. Park Police Tweeted that the shooting occurred after 2 00 p. M. On west executive drive, captain, near as you said, 17th and pennsylvania avenue. Northwest. The victim has been taken to the hospital in, quote, Critical Condition. So we can take down reports of gunshots, if we can at least attribute this to the Washington Post. What do you make of that . Well, again, we dont know, first off, lets say the Washington Post is correct and if theyre putting it out under their banner, im sure theyve sourced it well. Lets say somebody is shot, we dont know what that was about. It could have been a drug deal, it could have been a personal argument. At this point, you dont know, but obviously, Something Like that occurring in ground zero where you have more Police Officers than you cant swing a dead cat without hitting six of them. That is the most densely populated and controlled area in all of washington, which is a pretty remarkably policed area itself. Liz captain chuck nash, thank you very much. Thank you for pivoting here. We were going to talk about egyptair and we do know that debris has been found about 180 miles away from alexandria. Thats the situation now. Ashley webster at the New York Stock Exchange. Looks like weve pared some of the guns, dont know if it has to do with the lockdown situation and the reports that somebody has been shot near the white house. Were three points away from, or above that level for the s p of being positive for the week . Reporter yes, snapping a three week loss of the dow and s p. No reaction to what were just seeing unfold at the white house. The market has lost some of its steam, no doubt about that. But compared to yesterday, a bit of a recovery today as we head into the weekend. I did want to mention tesla to you. This is interesting, the electric carmaker refilling its coffers ahead of ramping up production of the model 3 sedan. This is an interesting stock. Up 1. 6 today, raising capital, 2 billion worth by selling nearly or over 9 million shares and sold those at 215 apiece. As you can see tesla right now at 218. The discount on the Capital Raising not exactly great, razor thin as is being described by some. But tesla says its pumping out half a million of the model 3 sedans by 2018. They say they have reservations of 373,000 already in place. It all sounds great. However, Industry Experts still are very, very skeptical about teslas ability to pull this off. Of course, we know that elon musk, tesla ceo, is very confident, optimistic they can get this done. As you can see, the model 3 is supposed to be mass market electric car starting at 35,000. Before you add on all the bells and whistles, a lot more affordable, can do 215 miles on one charge. Now the question is can, they have this ready to go in time . There are, as i say, liz, those that say not going to happen, but tesla continuing as we should say to motor forward and say theyre going to have the model 3 ready to go, ramped up by the end of next year and certainly by 2018. We shall seesa the cliche goes. Liz the stock is up 2 here. Whats interesting is the annual high is 286. Tesla at 219. The low is 161. Well above that. When you raise that much capital, it minimizes the bear. Mayhem in media stocks, gannett trying to have a blockbuster deal with tribune publishing. Today pharaoh making shockwaves with reports coming out he was working on a bid to take over gannett. Charlie gasparino, why are there questions about that possibility . Its a long shot. Lets be real clear here, this is the final death throes of the media industry. There are a couple of companies emerging as strong players, gobbling up others, gannett is a Stronger Company than tribune, and when you have this type of problematic, problems in any industry whether its paper, media, have you consolidation so, this has to happen. Theres going to be some deal here. The question is which deal is going to happen. And if you looked at financials, it seems like it is impossible for the Chicago Tribune to literally take over. Liz and also the l. A. Times. Still, they have 100 million in cash equivalence on the balance sheet. Liz 100 million is not a lot, folks, when youre dealing with these deals. Right. This isnt a huge deal. Gannett is worth Something Like 1. 5 billion. Thats not a huge deal. But still they would have to borrow heavily to do that type of reverse, and gannett is offering cash. I dont know how tribune stays out of this deal. Look at news corp. Wall street journal deal as an interesting template. Our boss comes in there and says listen, were going to offer you whatever it was, 75 a share. I think he offered cash, correct . Yep. Yep, i said not really knowing the answer. I think he did. He offered a far superior deal than they were getting. He was offering liz a long time ago. He was offering a far superior deal. Gannett is offering these guys a far superior deal than the current shareholders are getting plus offering them cash, i dont know how you turn that down and have a fiduciary responsibility to share all this. I think its going to happen. One thing you do notice how bad newspapers are these days, thats why they need consolidation, private equity hasnt been snapping them up and spinning them out. Liz fascinating flipflop. I have to ask you about Phil Mickelson, yesterday news broke the famed golfer said he was going to skirt any kind of Insider Trading because he had gotten a tip and made money, hes giving back the money. We dug up an old golf digest article. I saw that. Liz you saw that you . They asked how much money do you keep in your wallet . And they asked all the pro golfers. Guess how much Phil Mickelson keeps in his wallet to throw out a guess. 8,000. Liz you guys could have waited. I heard he likes to tip well. Liz he likes to tip well and feels people who dont make a lot of money in restaurants should be tipped well. Thats a lot of money where does he keep it . Strapped to his leg . I knew a lot of gamblers, im not saying Phil Mickelson is a gambler, he hangs around with that billy walters, gamblers keep a lot of money in cash. Liz the golden bear said 3 to 700 bucks. For all i know Phil Mickelson gambles and makes money. Liz he was in debt, you know that. Phil mickelson is not in debt. Liz he owed debt, thats what they said. He owed money to walters. Liz isnt that called i have debt. No, because hes worth 200 million dollars. Liz career earnings, 79 million. Okay. No, but he has a net worth of something close to 200 million. Liz he doesnt have to worry, he just paid back the million he made. Probably keeps it in his pocket, a million dollars. Liz golf digest doing that article. Isnt it odd the markets arent selling off of the great news in washington. Liz ashley was telling you and for those of you just joining us, peter barnes too, there has been a shooting according to the Washington Post, a person shot and wounded in Critical Condition now outside the white house. Peter, we didnt see a lot of reaction with the markets, the dow is still up 47, 48 points what it was before then. Give us what you know now . First and foremost want to say that the president is not at the white house, as you just said, liz, he is at joint base andrews, left the white house around 1 00 to play golf out there and teed off around 1 30, usually takes about four hours to play 18 holes. We assume he is at the golf course at joint base andrews and would be safe and protected and not brought back to the white house with this situation unfolding. We also can report the u. S. Park police have confirmed a shooting near the white house on west executive drive, and finally that the d. C. , the district of columbia is reporting that streets have been blocked off to the west and south of the white house, about four blocks down 17th street from pennsylvania avenue to constitution avenue which runs along the national mall, and then constitution avenue from 17th street down to 15th street in our direction. So a good chunk of the traffic area has been shut down as Police Respond to this situation. We had heard that this shooting did take place on the south side of the white house towards the national mall. So this would make sense that the first area closed off would be around the south lawn towards the national mall, and again, were waiting more details here and more confirmation from police. A Public Information officer for the park police is en route to 17th and pennsylvania to brief reporters. Liz stay there, peter. Charlie, weve had other incidents, there had been a shooting in november of 2011 where the secret service was blasted in a congressional hearing, excoriated by the House Oversight committee. Were remembering this because Representative Trey Gowdy of South Carolina said why did it take so long . The shooting was outside the president s window. They dont want to be accused of not reacting there. Appears to have been a real shooting here, and somebody is in Critical Condition at an area hospital. You know, listen, we should point out that the white house is in the middle of its not in a secluded area. Stuff happens. Liz this is from james rosen. The report, a man with a weapon approached the white house compound, refused to drop the weapon by law enforcement. They shot him. And transported him to a nearby highway. Somebody with a weapon walking up. And its in the middle of the city, not in a secluded area, and you know, stuff like this happens, and they did the right thing. First and foremost, you protect the president , protect our leaders, protect our government officials, and you ask questions later. Particularly when you come with a weapon. Liz by the way, there are a whole bunch of witnesses who saw. This lets listen to one of them. This is just coming into fox business. Told to evacuate the park. What were they yelling . What was happening . They were saying get out, this is not a drill, get back. Liz again, a heavily touristy visited area, peter barnes, correct . Now you see nothing, you see police cars, official vehicles and i can only imagine a while before everybody is allowed to move around there. Thats right. This lockdown continues at this hour with streets closed off. As i just reported, liz, and do want to mention that you talked about that one shooting at the white house that hit the truman balcony area several years ago, that shot came from the south area along constitution avenue, as i recall, so that is a vulnerable area. There are i can tell you there are crows nests on the top of the white house that secret service sharpshooters occupy from time to time just to make sure that if a plane or a person or anybody invades that space, comes over that fence or who may brandish any kind of weapon, theyre usually up there as a precaution. Not sure, obviously, have no information about whether that occurred in this instance with this report of this person with the gun trying to get onto the compound and being shot by secret service officers. Liz well, you know, its incredible, we had a guest named Steve Blumenthal booked. Are you with us . From cmg capital . Yes, i am. Liz the last time you were with us, there was also a white house shooting. Thats very coincidental. But as you look at this, there is no reaction. In fact, the markets are climbing higher. The dow was up 47 at the moment. Now up 57, perhaps because and i dont know, you tell me if the markets react to these things now that the man with the gun has been shot and neutralized for the moment, in the hospital in Critical Condition . I think they tend to, and they react initially and then of course, theres a lot more comfort now. I would suggest to the white house that perhaps they check my schedule with you. Seems to be a pretty good indicator is when something might strike up. I think the markets are getting immune to this sort of stuff. Obviously this is different, a crazy guy with a gun. Police take appropriate action, its different than a real terrorist attack. We didnt see much Market Movement on the San Bernardino thing, and im not saying listen, we should reduce this all to Market Movement in our hierarchy of what is important, what is news, business news. For the average investor, its kind of clear that markets, which used to trade off of terrorism a lot, they dont. Its kind of were becoming inured to all this, it used to be considered a massive economic event i. E. , 9 11 was. Liz steve, when you look at headlines, what is your advice to the investors . Ignore them . Everything from the egyptair crash or attacks on the oil pipe lines, the markets get closer and closer but the dow does not look like it will win for the week, steve . Boy, if we look at it shortterm, that doesnt make sense, investors should ignore this type of information. Liz and ignore too, youre saying you expect a recession. Weve got pretty decent data, wont say healthy and robust but decent. If you look at the last decade, we had two recessions in the 1990s, we had a recession. In the 1980s there were two, in the 1970s there was one, in the 60s there was two. We get recessions every decade, one to two each decade. Were very aged in this cycle. You see corporate earnings slowing down significantly, four quarters in a row of decline. Debt is our biggest issue. It takes more to drive one dollar of gdp. Recessions are healthy, we need to have them, equity markets decline 3060 in recession. Liz you know, charlie, we got existing home sales data that surprised to the upside, upward revision of next week. Revision on gdp, could be positive. I know, i get the seven year itch thing with recessions. Weve had such slow growth for the last seven years that there is a theory that, well, that that changes the tune, you know what im saying a little bit . Liz okay, as we gear up for the closing bell for the week, the s p and the nasdaq have snapped the losing streak. Up for the week, the dow doesnt quite make it. Thanks to steven blumenthal, peter barnes and charlie gasparino. After the bell, lots of news, guys. David we are going update you with every breaking detail from inside the beltway, but meanwhile markets ending on a high note, down for the week. Im david asman. Charles and im melissa francis, this is after the bell. Weve got you covered on the markets. First heres what else we have for you this hour the white house on lockdown, the fbi responding to reports of shots fired. The reports that someone has been shot, were going to get you an update as soon as we can. This, as donald trump addresses the National RifleAssociation Getting the nras big endorsement despite once supporting an assault weapons ban. New details in the crash of egyptair flight 804.
