Activist investor likes the communicate with the public. He is leaving the trump he was an unofficial adviser to donald trump on economic manners, regulatory manners. That is no more. Hes basically resigned from this post gerri was this a show up at work with every day post or call me up on the telephone. No. It was more of that. He did have a title. Hes trying in his letter that he released to President Trump, hes trying to say it has to do with, essentially, overlap with somebody else in the administration and some possible controversy that that has created. That, i dont believe that, okay . Listen, i think that carl icahn is doing what jamie dimon did, what Steve Schwartzman did, what all those top ceos did and that following charlottesville to be associated, be a businessman and be associated with President Trump given how he framed the debate following the tragedy this charlottesville, theres a degree of being toxic. And i think this is where its, you know, listen, people on twitter are going to go nuts on this, but, you know, grin and bear it, guys. Gerri what you see is Corporate America walking away because of the discussion, the tone, the texture of all of that. Right. If youre a businessman, he is almost toxic right now. Because of, because he seemed to maybe it was inartfully put, seemed to say there were good nazis. Gerri well, you know, he didnt say that, but it was interpreted that. He said there was some good people on both sides. Gerri lets talk about bannon. Whats going on there . Listen, you know, theres no doubt that he was on the outs. The notion that he resigned and that he was putting off his resignation, resigned two weeks ago and was putting off his resuming for reasons resignation for reasons were not quite sure of doesnt make sense to me. My guess is he knew he was on the outs. He was butting heads with mcmasters and kelly gerri very publicly. Very publicly. And the last straw was literally that interview with american prospect magazine. Gerri was that an unforced error, or do you think he did that on purpose . I dont know. Steves a really smart guy. My difference is he know my guess is he knows the difference. My guess is he dared donald trump to fire him. And in that article it was Pretty Amazing that if he didnt say it publicly, if you look at what he said, each part of it, it made complete rational sense. The altright, these jerks that were marching in charlottesville are losers. I mean, theres no doubt. These are, like, despicable people, he said that. Theres no doubt we dont want a war with north korea, you know . I know the generals are saying well blow them up, obliterate them. But just with conventional weapons, they can literally wipe out south korea. Gerri i think he was too honest by half on north korea. Do you know what i mean . Like, that is the reality, is that you cant do that because youll end up killing ten Million People in seoul. Yeah, youre right. And everything he said, there were a few other points he made about white house infighting. He was saying how the Establishment Republicans inside the white house wet themselves whenever he makes points, and thats true. They fear him. They know hes smart and effective. Gerri what does this mean for the white house Going Forward . Is this a good thing . Does it hurt trump with the base . Listen, heres what i would say, i dont know. It could hurt him with the base if he leaves breitbart which is the magazine that he i think he still owns a piece of it, goes after him. Heres what i would say, its very interesting. The markets, i thought, should go up on this. Everybody thought that. Why is that . Gerri they did at first. They did at first because, listen, hes for restrictive trade policy, building the wall, you name it. People think thats bad for the markets. Not crazy about tax cuts, but they went down anyway. What does that mean . That means sophisticated investors right now are basically saying that the guy at the top is the problem, not necessarily these advisers. And ill just say this gerri youre going to be in a big twitter war with the viewers. I feel it coming on. Bring it on, you know . Heres the thing, you know it as well as i do. Every time there was a terrorist attack, just about every time, the markets were essentially muted because they all said, oh, thats overseas. Overall Economic Conditions here are good. This time there was a 300point decline, and there was a decline today. Why is that . Because when you couple that with unstable, an unstable president or what investors view as an unstable president im not saying he is, but they view him as that. Thats why jamie dimon and those guys, the business leaders, are running away. Gerri weve got a long darn time until this is over, three years. I agree. Thats why the markets are selling off. Gerri charlie, great reporting. Thanks for coming on. Blake burman joining us from inside the White House Briefing room. Blake . Reporter charlie just went through some of the timing there. A white house source telling fox that steve bannon had tendered his resignation back on august 7th, about 11 days ago, and then came this article, an interview that he gave to a liberalleaning outlet in which bannon made some comments that had undercut the president. Fast forward to today, the white house is saying, hey, look, this was at least a parting of mutual terms. Here was the press secretary, Sarah Huckabee sanders, quote white house chief of staff john kelly and steve bannon have mutually agreed today would be steves last day. We are grateful for his service and wish him the best. A source tells fox that bannon will 100 go to bat for the president , that there wont be a sort of bitter parting of ways. Joshua green, who is a reporter for Bloomberg Business week and just wrote an extensive book on bannon, profiled him, said he spoke with bannon a little while ago, and heres what bannon said, quote if theres any confusion, let me clear it up. Im leaving the white house and going to war for trump against his opponents on capitol hill, in the media and in Corporate America. Bannon, as you know, worked closely down the stretch during the campaign with david bossie. Bossie appeared on fox a little while ago and was asked if bannon would direct his ire against the socalled, as he sees it, globalists. Some of the people inside of your administration werent with you during the campaign, and they dont agree with you on these policy positions now. And i think that thats going to continue, that hes going to continue to point those things out when its necessary because hes always been the voice that has had to rise up to be able to stop certain things from happening. Reporter so, gerri, bottom line steve bannon gone from the white house, but expect him to remain active in some role in some capacity outside of the white house. Inside of the white house here in the building, john kelly, the new chief of staff been on the job for only three weeks or so he is certainly putting his imprint on this white house. Gerri thats right, blake. Starting to look like a clean sweep. Thanks for that. President trump was lukewarm on bannons future on tuesday. Watch this. I like mr. Bannon. Hes a friend of mine. But mr. Bannon came on very late, you know that. I went through 17 senators, governors, and i won all the primaries. Mr. Lap northern came on very much bannon came on very much later than that. And i like him, hes a good man, he is not a racist, i can tell you that. Hes a good person. He actually gets a very unfair press in that regard. But well see what happens with mr. Bannon. Gerri and that appeared to be, at least to observers, the kiss of death, a signal that bannon was on his way out. This, as were hearing at least 19 conservative groups are protesting the removal of steve lap nonand the potential removal of bannon and the potential removal of kellyanne conway. Joining me now, rich lowry, former george w. Bush policy adviser Michael Barnes and former Obama Campaign regional field director robin birro. Rich, im starting with you. This had to be one of the most telegraphed resignations firings [laughter] weve been talking about it in house for days and could not confirm it. The question was really just timing. What does this mean Going Forward . Is this the clean sweep . Well, its going to be very interesting because donald trump is a committed populist nationalist, and now hes surrounded and his top team with very few people who agree with that world view. You know, you have a lot of new york democrats now with the family and various investment bankers, former investment bankers, and you have very impressive, patriotic but not highly ideological generals. So its going to be an interesting match, and i think the report we just heard is accurate. You will see bannon go after all these people around trump that he thinks arent truly part of the agenda and arent serving him well, and that could get really ugly. Gerri lets turn to agenda. Michael, to you. What happens to tax reform . What happens to fixing obamacare . What happens to just getting a budget done next month or maybe raising the debt ceiling . Until the president imposes some discipline on himself, were going to see that none of those priorities are going to be achieved, because weve seen this week with the president s remarks on charlottesville forever so far that the chief of staff, john kelly, a fourstar marine general has not been able to impose discipline on the president , perhaps the white house today was Steve Bannons departure. Until there is discipline from the president , theres going to be no deal making with members of congress and no desirable outcomes on these policy issues. The president has to recognize hes got to get into the mainstream on American Values like his response to the charlottesville massacre in terms of this attack on main street American Values. Gerri well, you know, is this turning a page with, you know, carl icahn gone, look, i think weve even got a full screen on this, six folks have departed. The administration is only seven months old, and already youre seeing this is the old guard, okay . They are gone, they are done. Carl icahn has resigned as well, sort of an informal adviser. Youre seeing a big, big change in the leadership here, robin. Could this signal that things are about to get different . You have other people in charge now. Treasury secretary mnuchin, you know, people who may be more dedicated to getting things done. Is it a good signal or a bad one . Thats a good question, gerri. You know, i would argue that the ceos to know whats up. They have their finger on the pulse. They could not have their businesses, the brand of their businesses be damaged by the chaos of this white house right now. Especially what happened this past weekend and the president s floundering response that just kept going back and forth. So, you know, i know that they were basically protecting their companies. I dont argue, i dont disagree. Carl icahn basically let the president know, he got the president s blessing to leave today, in effect, and said that it meant no harm to the president. But i do think that theyre concerned, like i said, for the sake of their own business. Now Going Forward gerri right. Weve got general kelly. Hes going to be, im still hopeful that once trump comes back from vacation that kelly can rein him in maybe on some of these tweets gerri all right. So let me, weve got something thats just in right now that i want you guys to hear fresh tweet bannon will apparently return as executive chairman of breitbart. Hes going to host those evening editorial meetings, rich. What does this tell you . Is he going to be more effective outside the administration than in . Well, thats what trump has to hope. And trump actually has a history, there are various people he fired during the campaign that he still has a warm relationship with. So id expect him to serve trumps interests to try to keep bannon within the circle even though hes no longer in the white house. And i just agree with my two colleagues on this panel. This week has not helped the agenda. It hasnt destroyed it, but its made it marginally more difficult when it wasnt going great guns anyway. So, you know gerri big question about what happens next. Right. I think kelly can run the staff better, but the question is can the president run himself better. Gerri well, i want to ask a question amen. Gerri michael, to you about these conservative groups, some 19 writing a letter protesting whats going on with bannon leaving. While others may come and go in the white house, we feel sure that with steve and kellyanne at your side you will always hear the voices of those of us who have supported you despite the efforts by some to manage you and your message. This letter penned by tea party people, a lot of conservative activists. Is the base at risk here . Do you worry that those folks might run away . Is that the concern for trump . No. I think that what happens in the white house with staffing is going to have no impact on the base, but it has an important impact on the moderates and independents who are the ones who got trump elected in the first place. What we see now with a 35 Approval Rating is that trump has lost those individuals. So he has got to get in line with moderate, mainstream American Values on issues like charlottesville and be able to make deals with members of congress and be able to advance the priorities that are not the priorities of this conservative base, but actually the priorities of the mainstream independent and moderate voters who elected the president gerri michael, let me interrupt you for just a second if i can, and we dont have much time. Michael, youve got to have a congress that can operate, that can get something done, and we just dont seem to have that. Well, what we see now is that the congress is not going to be pushing for the president s agenda anymore. They are not going to stick their necks out. Theyre going to proceed with their own agenda and require that they negotiate with femme accurates. But they democrats. But they will get something done. Gerri thank you, panel. Great job. Appreciate your time tonight. Thank you. Gerri next, the terrorists who attacked spain, Authorities Say they were planning something much, much larger. Well tell you about it coming up. Its a highly contagious disease that can be really serious. Especially for my precious new grandchild. Its whooping cough. Every family member, including those around new babies, should talk to their doctor or pharmacist about getting vaccinated. Your insurance on time. Tap one little bumper, and up go your rates. Gerri well, there is a manhunt underway for anybody involved in the two terror attacks in spain that left at least 14 people dead including one american and more than 100 others injured. Isis claiming responsibility for the barcelona van attack, and Authorities Say it could have been much, much bigger. Police believe the suspects originally planned to use explosive devices to wreak greater devastation, but those were detonated prematurely south of barcelona wednesday night. All of this coming together right now. Here with me now, former member of u. S. Army special forces jim hanson and American Islamic forum for democracy founder, zeusty jasser. This was much more elaborate than it first appeared. In the first hours we were saying, oh, this was just another vehicle that somebody ran through pedestrians, no planning, but thats not right. It was really much more elaborate. What does this tell you . Does this signal some new version, some new wave of terrorism . Well, i think it signals that as we squeeze isis in syria and iraq, theyre doing everything they can to stay relevant, put us on defense, to make us more isolationist in the west and, ultimately, their inspire magazine talk about attacking trains. Theyre doing whatever they can, they had the plot out of australia where they were going to use some phosphorous on an airline. And then they had a successful plot a month and a half ago many tehran which actually, if you think about it, for an Arab Organization to complete a successful plot inside tehran shows you the sophistication that isis has in infiltrating foreign areas. So these acts in europe, theres been so many now, almost every two weeks were seeing one. Is, ultimately, it shows they want to maintain the primary brand of jihad globally and that they may lose territory, but they will remain the global threat of jihaddism until we start to address the precursors of the violet jihadists. Violent jihadists. Were learning these four or five or however many, most of them werent known at all. Most of them are unknown. Gerri right. These are new folks x thats why its so troubling. Jim, to you. You look at all the people involved and all the planning, and we know that the cia essentially told spain youre going to to have a problem right at the location where we had this massive loss of life. So why cant we put that all together . How did we miss this cell . I think the problem is were afraid to look at the blisteringly obvious point that theyve got jihadists in their midst. You know, the open borders policy, the essential free travel and all the other good things that people like about the e. U. Have brought them people who dont believe in the essential values of western free society. And theyre willing to do whatever they can to subvert those using violence or other means. And right now, you know, theyre there, we know where they are, they know where they are, but they dont have the will, the political will to go in and actually investigate in the mosques where they need to. Gerri dutity, do you agree with that . Do we just not have the political will in europe . Oh, absolutely. Its so obvious. You see mosques in barcelona and elsewhere, qatarifunded mosques that had an imam in barcelona preaching antisemitism, preaching hate for the west. The separatism, be it the ones like the violent ones or the nonviolent insurgents that are teaching our muslim families to separate from the west, not to be part of the society. That separatism is the future jihadi pool that will either become violent or become part of the movement to protect these cells. This is why youre seeing more and more arrests after every one. You had the paris attack on november 15 that then had a belgium attack in march 2016, four months later, where those guys hid out within the Community Across the e. U. Because you had protection in neighborhoods, etc. So we are so far beyond the power curve, its frightening. Gerri jim, so far beyond the power curve, what do you say here . Final thoughts. Wrap up for me, you know, your best advice. I think it points out the value of President Trumps executive order. Its not just a travel ban. He asked all the security agencies to institute vetting procedures that will actually stop these jihadists and islamists from coming to this country. Thats what we need to do. Theres no reason to bring people here who dont share our values. Gerri great commentary, thanks for your insights. And trump and his generals agree on a plan forward for the war in afghanistan . Were going to discuss that coming up. We have a question about your brokerage fees. Fees . What did you have in mind . I dont know. 4. 95 per trade . Uhhh and i was wondering if your brokerage offers some sort of guarantee . Guarantee . Where we can get our fees and commissions back if were not happy. So can you offer me what schwab is offering . Whats with all the questions . Ask your broker if theyre offering 4. 95 online equity trades and a satisfaction guarantee. If you dont like their answer, ask again at schwab. [brother] any last words . [boy] karma, danny. Karma [vo] progress is seizing the moment. Your summer moment awaits you, now that the summer of audi sales event is here. Audi will cover your first months lease payment on select models during the summer of audi sales event. Gerri well, just a few hours ago President Trump met with the National Security council at camp david to try to forge an agreement on the american strategy in afghanistan. Reuters reporting that options could include pulling all troops, reducing troop levels or even boosting troop levels. With us now, retired Master Sergeant jason beardsley, a former Army Special Operations counterterrorism operative. Great to have you here, jason. Were getting reports that pence and mcmasters were making the argument maybe not a surge, but for putting more troops in. What do you make of that . I think its worthwhile that the president looks at every option. I mean, you mentioned three of hem. We withdraw, we reduce, we stay where we are, or we kind of boost that force. Thats why they all met in camp david. They hunkered down there with some great advisers, you know, general mattis, general kelly, h. R. Mcmasters. Theyre going to come together with a plan, and its going to take some time, but theyve got to look at all the variablings. So i think its good that youre hearing them talk about the different options. Gerri well, but look, theyre talking about all the options. This is the longest running war this country has ever seen. Do we need a new approach, in your view . Absolutely. Absolutely. Theres no doubt that we need a new approach. All we have to do is kind of look at the evidence. Weve got our Service Members in the harms way. Theyve been doing this for 6 years. If we dont 16 years. If we dont change something, stasis is not good enough. Its not good enough for the families, and it shouldnt be good enough for the president , and i think hes said that its not. I think what were seeing with this clear sort of direction to say lets go ahead and find out what the new plan is, look at all the options. I know hes brought this different people, different advisers with different ideas to say whats going to work here. Youre absolutely right, it has to be different. Gerri i want you to respond, senator Lindsey Graham put out a statement telling trump to listen to his generals, and heres what he said. If we were to pull all our troops from afghanistan, it would be a disaster for our National Security interests and set the stage for another 9 11 on american soil. Do you agree . Well, i think senator Lindsey Graham brings up a great point that if we to withdraw, were going to see terrain that the americans fought for, and were going to hand it over to our enemies in iran, and youre going to have the same kind of fighting, and its going to be the same kind of hosting of terrorism weve seen in the last 20 and 30 years. Will it be the same thing we saw before . Its going to morph a little bit. But make no mistake, this is not a simple problem. Though senator graham makes a terrific point, the problem is its not just dealing with afghanistan in a bubble. It has to consider whats happening in tehran, what the irgcqf, their covert operations that have been inspiring the taliban, theyve been colluding with them, and then it looks like pakistan too on the other side of the border. Its not just dealing with afghanistan and the resources that are there. Its dealing with all the players. So you dont just need the military, you need to get the whole of government approach involved. So its a large problem set, but weve got great advisers in the seat now. President trump has appointed some stellar people, and theyre going to talk about this thing and get down into the weeds. The fact that theyre looking at new options, that should make americans feel good. Lets come back to the table and say what is it that the generals actually think will be successful here. Gerri well, ive got to tell you, i dont envy this is like, this is like a board game on three Different Levels in 3d, the way youre describing it, with all these countries involved and all their interests, our interests. Very difficult. Like you, i have a lot of confidence in the leadership driving this thing forward. Thank you so much for being on, jason. Thank you, gerri. Gerri and next, the white house confirms steve bannon is out hours after trumps tweet storm p blasting targets from the courts to democrats. But is the president in danger of becoming isolated by his own party . Stay with us. Copd makes it hard to breathe. So to breathe better, i go with anoro. Gerri steve bannon is out just hours after President Trump went on a wideranging tweet storm blasting everything from obstructionist democrats and the court system to praising tough border security. The president also tweeting about terror saying this, quote radical islamic terrorism must be stopped by whatever means necessary. The courts must give us back our protective rights. We have to be tough. And all of this comes on the heels of a tough week for the president who is now facing increased isolation even among his own party. His controversial Charlottesville Remarks left Party Members like mitt romney outraged. To my panel, democratic strategist robin birro, White House Correspondent Sarah Westwood and daily beast political reporter betsy wood rhode island. Robin, is the president isolated . I mean, some people make the point, you know, hes been fighting with some of the senators on capitol hill, obviously, hes fought in the past with the house. Now we have ceos walking away. Resignations. Whats going on . You know, i did my research for this piece. I did thorough research gerri thats good. Of the 52 gop senators, all of them but 12 had to issue statements condemning the kkk, neonazis, so thats not the position that they want to be in. So, yes, i would argue that the president right now is becoming increasingly isolated, and they are concerned. They had themselves distanced themselves, like i said, from the president. Its not good optics for them and definitely not the position that they want to be in especially, you know, when you have david duke i havent heard david duke be relevant in 20 years, but weve been talking about him. Gerri i dont think hes part of this conversation, frankly. No. Gerri you know . But i want you to hear what mitt romney had to say in a facebook post. Quote whether he intended to or not and, again, this is mitt romney what he communicated caused racists to rejoice, minorities to weep and the vast heart of america to mourn. And, lets see, betsy, to you. What do you make of that . This is the kind of criticism that will not carry significant weight within the trump white house. The reality is that romney has been criticizing trump ever since he first entered the republican primary. Hes been one of the most vocal Republican Party elders to go after him, and the white house just doesnt put that much stock in what romney has to say. All they have to do is point out that there wasnt a president romney, that his approach to republican politics doesnt prove successful in an electoral manner, and thats enough for them to just write off what hes saying. Whether or not his criticism is valid, its obviously a criticism a lot of republicans share. Its going to have very little bearing on whether or not it actually changes the way the president speaks and behaves. Gerri sarah, a lot of people saying the president s isolated here. And, of course, weve seen some defections, obviously, lots of fights, lots of twitter fights. But at the end of the day, what happened at the tail end of this week with resignations, weve had six major officials leave in seven months, right . Reince priebus most recently, steve bannon today, does it mean were turning over a new leaf . Does it mean theres a fresh start here . Is this the clean sweep that the Administration Needs in. Well, the the bannon departure was really a gift to President Trump, because he ended the week not talking about racism, not talking about his lackluster response to charlottesville, not talking about the myth about general pershing that he tweeted out in the wake of the barcelona attack, but were talking about steve bannon. Were talking about what steve bannon meant to the pop list ideals that put President Trump in the white house. And then the president will have the breathing room that the weekend naturally provides. So this was a gift to the Trump Administration if trump wants to take it that he can try to move on from this controversy that did kind of cause republicans to take a step back away from him. And, hopefully, heal the divides before lawmakers come back to washington in just a couple of weeks, because hell need them when they move on to their legislative agenda. Gerri they will, although youre talking about the weekend being the pause that refreshes. You never know. I mean, weve had [laughter] its been so busy for the last many, many weeks and months. Panel, thank you so much for being with us tonight. Great job. Sure thing, gerri. Gerri and stocks getting a boost from Steve Bannons departure, but it wasnt enough to keep them in positive territory. Thats right, your 401 k , its down. Well tell you about it next. Im living that yacht life, life, life top speed fifty knots life on the caribbean seas its a champagne and models potpourri on my yacht made of cuban mahogany, gany, gany, gany watch this dont get mad bell mnemonic get e trade and get invested gerri feeling lucky this weekend . Well, the Powerball Jackpot has ballooned the an estimated 535 million. The cash value of the jackpot, 338 million. Gerri well, stocks rallied earlier today on word that Senior Adviser steve bannon is out of the white house, but it didnt last long as may sure averages wound up major averages wound up the day in the red. Joining me now, ross gerber. Great to have you here. I want to show folks the chart of the day, because its confounding, my friend, and i want you to explain. We got like a 90point swing in the market when bannon, when the word started trickling out that bannon was leaving. And so it seemed like things were on the up and up and then, boom, we started trading lower. Why . What was going on . What was in traders minds today . Well, it is friday in the summer, and with trump it seems like every week is a new, you know, i would say disaster that hes got to get himself out of. Its like a game almost. Last week it was north korea, this week its bannon and the racists or whatever. But, you know, were so happy to see a move that refocuses the white house on the economic agenda of this nation. That is what they should be thinking about. So clearly, the Goldman Sachs side of the white house won here. Look, trump is more about money than anything else, so im sure he gets that. Gerri but let me, let me at the end of the day. Gerri ross, let me just ask you this because, you know, i think the markets are very interested in tax reform and a lot of the reforms that the president has talked about over time. Right. Gerri do you think they have confidence its going to happen . And isnt that why the market went down at the end of day . No. Absolutely, and thats why weve been selling as well. We have no confidence anythings going the happen at this point. Ive never seen a more dysfunctional situation in the white house in my whole life. And, you know, they came in with all this promise, and we want to see it happen gerri but, we are seeing a whole new group of folks leading the path forward. I mean, look, at the end of the day now youre going to have mnuchin, now youre going to have gary cohn, a person like you, somebody whos a financial adviser, a money manager should be thrilled. Right. I am happy about the fact that bannons out. First of all, he wanted to attack china which was not going to work out well for the United States and our economy. So i like gerri he wanted to attack the economic policy, right . Wasnt that what it was yeah, but see thats a dangerous game with our biggest trading partner in a lot of ways. You know, i think we need to we have the right people now to work on the economic agenda. But the issue we have is will anything get done, and so far trump has done absolutely nothing but cause problems. And thats why were selling on a friday. Its hard to be confident going into the weekend. Gerri were going to watch that at t time warner merger. Didnt have time to talk about it today, but, ross, appreciate your expertise. Thank you. Gerri well, boston bracing for whats being billed as a free speech rally, and officials are pulling out all the stops after last weeks deadly events in charlottesville. Gerri must respect our city. That was boston mayor marty walsh earlier today speaking about the citys plans for tomorrows free speech rally on the Boston Common. The boston Free Speech Coalition, thats who they are, theyve said they are not affiliated with the group from charlottesville last week, but they have invited joe biggs, Gavin Mcginnis and a Republican Senate candidate from massachusetts as well as holocaust denier augustus invictus. Joining me to discuss is the former commissioner of the nypd and i hope youre pronouncing your name right, sir, you can correct me a cambridge, massachusetts, city council member. Is this what we should be doing . Should we be allowing free speech on the Boston Common . Well, these protests are allowed, this socalled Free Speech Coalition and their rights are guaranteed by the constitution. So, of course, we should allow it. But that doesnt mean we have to believe its a free speech rally. These people bring hate into our city. We saw the type of hate they bring in the events in charlottesville, and people are right to be concerned, theyre right to speak back. And i believe that the nonviolent response much larger in number, expected to be much larger and much more reasonable in nature speaks for itself. Gerri bernie, do you agree . I mean, the mayor called it repugnant. What do you saysome. Well, yeah. If theyre not there for free speech, peaceful protesting, you cant let it get out of hand. And i agree with what the councilman just said. But my concern about this protest in boston is they have the group answer in there, they have extremely close ties to workers world which was the other lunatic protest group down in charlottesville. Theyre extremely close tied. Its a communist organization, the communist party organization. And, you know, theyre partners in crime. Theyre going to be up in boston. Gerri are these partners in crime . [laughter] you know, a false equivalency is typically drawn between these types of parties. You have an incendiary racist organization coming to town, and you have a whole host of organizations from black lives matter to combat and many others arriving on the steps of the statehouse at 11 a. M. Tomorrow to be reasonable. And i think these groups have been reasonable in Greater Boston in the past. I know some of the folks who organize for someone far away who doesnt know these groups locally to say that theyre communist groups or some other thing that viewers might take at face value is, frankly, not in keeping with the facts. Gerri bernie, i want you to respond [laughter] go ahead. You go ahead. I think the councilman should just go to their web site. Workers world is a communist party im not talking about workers world im talking about all of the organizers, all of whom are very reasonable, black lives matter disturb. Gerri are black lives matters region . I mean, i think thats open for debate, bernie were talking about in boston. Black lives matter is an extreme hate group. When youre calling for the mass murder of cops, protesting in the streets of new york city and attacking police and doing the things that black lives matter has done, you have to look at it realistically. Now, if they go to boston and they stand on the steps of the statehouse and theyre there peacefully, i have no problem with it. Gerri no problem. Im not talking about people going to boston, and i didnt want to make this a referendum on black lives matter. Im talking about people who are organizers in Greater Boston who are loved by people who agree and disagree with their politics because people involved in this leadership are quality in boston. Theyre not flying in to make the problem. Were talking about boston leaders, boston voters, boston centrists, democrats and republicans coming together to oppose hate speech. And i think to paint some kind of illusion that these are a Workers Party or a communist party even if they were, thats not the point. Maybe your facts arent correct. Well, heres the issue. Thats all flourly and nice flowery and nice if the people that hes saying are going to be there are the only people there. Bottom line is thats probably not going to happen. These other groups have instigators that they shove into these things, and they go hay wire. Thats exactly what happened in charlottesville. You had a group of nuts, these ku klux klan, white supremacist guys on one side and you had the other group of lunatics on the other side. People pushed them in there, and then you have problems. And hopefully, thats not what happens in boston. I agree with you in that hope, and i just have to say in boston like this charlottesville theres not two sides to this, as President Trump was saying. Theres the incendiary side gerri okay. And in my opinion, theres the righteous side. Gerri well, everybody feels like theyre righteous, right . [laughter] guys i just mean the nonviolent side.
