Millions of americans hitting the road and the skies for the Christmas Holiday, travelers should not have to worry about snow, thats for sure. Rain and fog could cause delays to travelers today but big story in weather is the unseasonably warm weather hitting retailers as well. The specially retailers have lost 421 million. No one wants to be on the list of overpaid actors. His recent movies earned one dollar and 20 cents for every dollar that hes paid for. Second Straight Year on top of that list. Republican president ial camp dane defending on derogatory comments he made to clinton. Gary is with the latest on the showdown and where the 2016 race stands, good morning to you. Gary good morning, maria. We are six week away and donald trump dominating the republican field. Ted cruz continues surge in the polls. Thats far ahead of marco rubio and ben carson who are nearly tied for third place. Ted cruz says he doesnt expect his surge to change any time soon. I did think it was interesting. Donald said a couple of days ago that he thought that the republican could come down to just him and me. The decision will be made by the voters. One of the central issues on the race also has been who will stand up to washington. Donald trump leads the way in another category of the poll, 50 of voters said they would be embarrassed if he was were to be elected. Theyd be embarrassed with her in the oval office, the two front runners have been locked over trumps use of what Clintons Campaign has called craft indefensive language describing her loss in 2008 election. You are looking at somebody who has had a lot of terrible things said about me and i am well affair of the fact that its really easy to do that and you say it and you send it around the world. Thats why its important to stand up to bullies wherever they are and we shouldnt let anybody bully his way into the presidency. Debate stage will be a little smaller with just six candidates set to make the main stage for fox business debate on january 11th, criteria was announced yesterday, right now the six would be donald trump, ted cruz, marco rubio, ben carson, jeb bush and chris christie, maria. Maria thank you very much. Do join us in South Carolina right here live in the Fox Business Network. Senior correspondent, david, thank you for joining the conversation. David good morning, good to be here. Maria whats your take on the latest moves . David we are so focused on what a particular candidate said as we usually are is that donald trump is not invulnerable with ted cruz surging within four points of him overtaking him in iowa, tieing him in South Carolina, donald trump is beatable. Somebody has to go out and do it. That tells us where the race could be doing in january and february once people start to consider who they are going to vote for and once the voteing is going to look. Maria donald trump is beatable by ted cruz but is ted cruz going to beat Hillary Clinton . Antiantido anthony moving against donald trump. David she more or less has this thing wrapped up unless theres no major mistake she has made. She has checked all the liberal boxes. But shes really the only plausible president in their field and it makes her look stronger to focus on the republican field and she wants to highlight donald trump because thats who she wants to run against. They figure its either one step closer for him to nomination or another day that the other republican candidates cant escape sort of the dome that hes placed around the campaign. Anthony if you were donald trump and had the nomination what would you do visavis her, would you change rhetoric or slamming and all this sort of stuff i sorry i had to throw that word in there. [laughter] david its not a big deal. If youre somebody who has run either hard to the right or has used really strong rhetoric in a primary and worked in a republican primary in a political environment, youre going to have to change it up in the general election and what youre hoping to do is youve created enough credibility with your own base that theyre going to allow you to shift a little bit. Any republican candidate who has offended or pushed away hispanic voters or female voters or other ethnic minorities, every four years the president ial election is decided less and less by white voters. You have to appeal to other voters, if you dont do that, you might have a good time and entertain a lot of people but youre going to lose. Maria do you think that ted cruz can beat Hillary Clinton . David i think its possible because he knows how to organize, hes very sharp when it comes together in putting a campaign. I dont think its a given because his appeal is not as wide as would be helpful for a republican candidate. Maria right. David i dont think you can dismiss him the way i think you can dismiss trumps general election. Maria so you think its more likely that ted cruz can beat Hillary Clinton than donald trump beating Hillary Clinton. David daid david by far. He has shown he can raise money and can organize and hes young and fresh and against clinton. People are turned off by the idea. Now is he the best possible election candidate for republicans, is he better than donald trump, by far. Maria we appreciate it. David any time. Thank you. Maria dont forget to tune in to the next gop debate live from South Carolina. First debate of the new year, we will be covering issues that you care about. I dont want to sound paranoid, if thats the case, they have a radio and what the transmission codes are, they understand how the design is of the badge and it goes on and on from there. Thats going to be a drawdown on the economy. Maria what do you think . We have the gdp out yesterday, it was 2 , you know, we cant get off this 2 number. Anthony theres a number of different why. Lets talk about three. Overregulation, lack of tax reform and now the possibility that the fed will be 150 basis points higher in about 18 months. That combination of things is going to be a regulator, maria, to the overall gdp numbers. Maria does oil bother you in terms of an added pressure . Anthony you and i talked about this a year ago. Energy prices recovering a bit driving this rally, the dax index in germany and 13 4 , the s p 100 up 200 110 points higher, in asia stocks are mixed, fractional moves, nike, the stock is up in the premarket after the Company Reported strong profits and Revenue Growth after a good holiday, strong orders from retailers and building its own ecommerce business, take a look, it is picking up strongly. Millions of americans king roads and skies for the Christmas Holiday, travelers should not worry about snow. Rain and fog could cause a delay for travel today, we are looking at unseasonably warm temperatures. Google working on the new mobile messaging apps, and looking to use Artificial Intelligence, wall street journal reporting google trying to catch u rivals including facebook. The service will be able to text friends or Software Programs to search the web for information and answer questions quickly. An early christmas gift, the bands music will be available on Music Services beginning tomorrow. One report says all their music will be available on spotify and google play, pandora will have some but not all available. Markets set for a flood of Economic Data in the Christmas Holiday and holiday shortened week. At 8 30 eastern we expect a report on u. S. Durablegoods orders with analysts expecting a 0. 7 decline in november. That is where the weak spot is, durablegoods and manufacturing, personal spending and income for the month of november out of 8 30 a. M. And 10 00, the university of michigans final estimate for Consumer Confidence in the month of december, waiting on data for new home sales as well. Joining us from philadelphia, rob morgan and washington d. C. Chief economic correspondent jon hilsenrath. Good to see you, thanks for joining us. What is most important this morning . What reports are you most focused on . Looking at personal income and inflation to see if there is any sign of inflation starting to pick up because the fed wants to see that happen if you raise rates again. One thing on the personal income report, some of that data was released, the commerce departments send an email that it was released inadvertently. Some of these numbers are out there. The spending side of the economy held up pretty well in november and they got out early. Maria this is the area of the manufacturing part of the area and, big ticket items have been under pressure. How important is durablegoods to you . It is the number i am watching. As you pointed out, manufacturing is in a couple spots, job growth has been steady, as we talked about, inflation is seeming to move back in the fed stands the that is all well and good, a lot of times manufacturing if it continues to be weak can be a harbinger of overall weakness to come. That is what i am watching. Those are two big things but i am curious what john thinks, what do you think of the mixture of income, are these jobs sustainable, parttime jobs, is the fed worried about that . One of the things the fed worried about, we had a good run in the job market. And and broader measures, and those were down from the overate it has to do with a consumption. The mixture of jobs is not high quality. They are not supercomfortable spending. On wall street week mentioned it being a concern. This mixture of jobs in the 2 zone. Ive bristling little bit at that. The fact is if you are a low income worker, not waiting for more lawyer jobs, we need jobs created by restaurants and retailers and that is what is being created that is money that is going from lower income, lower educated workers that might get a lot higher track. It cuts both ways and we have to be grateful this Holiday Season that the economy is creating jobs. Unemployment in europe is near 10 . This is an Unemployment Rate near 10 , something to be thankful for. We talked about how energy has taken jobs away, what about jobs are tough to create. Look at these power plants, manufacturing the use energy, a lot of growth, chemical plants and things like that. With the Positive Side of job growth, lower Energy Prices. It supports consumption. Many in pockets of households. There are parts of the economy, in texas and north dakota and louisiana that are hurting the energy price decline. Those concentrated pockets of pain are broader prosperity. You want to put more money to work . Talking about how tough it is, what does that mean for 2016 . Being really careful and selective sectors your looking at, one of the areas we are focusing on is the highyield sector, the bond sector. It has gotten pummeled and is a story of two markets if you can focus on the good side of that market there are a lot of opportunities in 2016. Maria where do you stand on stocks going into the new year. Still relatively bullish bet at the same time the fed rate hike, is going to end a bull market. The chips off the table equity wise, stocks and market weight, i started to rotate more in the defensive sectors. Still like technology, elevated banks and also utilities as well. Cutting back on stocks a little bit rotating more defensively. Maria john morgan, jon hilsenrath, see you soon. Thank you so much. Chipotle shares continue to sing, the sector of Disease Control announcing monday, a different equalize strain linked to the restaurant chain. Is it slowing consumers apatite . Nicole petallides, good morning. Nicole absolutely right. A quarter of a matter atkins who heard the reason the coli outbreak at chipotle say they are eating less often there. According to a new reuters poll. Jacobi sparking broader concerns. Fast food less often since the outbreak. Shares of the restaurant, touching 19 month lows, jpmorgan downgraded stock to neutral from overweight yesterday, doesnt come as a surprise they did that. Theyre taking concern straight to social media, there were 30 more negative tweets than positive ones concerning chipotle. People are nervous even if it is still open, across the nation. More tax motivated selling and until they come up with a plan the stock will language. We talked to an analyst this weekend assured it that this is a great company, and maria telling you bought by the stocks. He is concerned. Let me make sure things are fine and then i will return. Maria if you are a fan and think they will make it through you will buy the stock but it is one of my main recipes. That is how i cook. The diner, and to liz claman 8 an entire breed no. She did not get sick. And the tylenol scandal in that scare. And here are the steps we will take. Make sure you a tylenol State College anybody from chipotle, a we are fixing the problem. They can determine what the problem is that didnt produce and sales are dropping and it could take years. They need to say that, that scares them because what happens with the public is once you are in this is a code of not knowing what is going on or admitting. Can and to tylenol, bp, if these companies can fix it these become buying opportunities. Maria sometimes, this is what they learned, is a cloudy situation. It came out to those it wasnt enough. 27 people dont know where it comes from. They still dont know. Maria does it affect other fastfood companies in a good or bad way . When is the next time you are going to chipotle . Not next week, not in 2016. Thank you. Dont forget to start your day every day with Nicole Petallides on fbn a. M. Right before mornings with maria. Maria warm weather temperatures making Holiday Travel easier lori rothman with other headlines now. Lori apart from a White Christmas in many cities across the country in the south and east, temperatures Christmas Morning will be attended grease above the average high for december 25th. This will also be the case in days leading up to christmas. In new york city average High Temperature 40 degrees, the big apple may wake up to temperatures nearing 60 degrees. Fortune reporting the warm weather affecting eastern half of the u. S. Hitting retailers where it hurts, right in the pocket books. Specialty retailers have lost 421 million so far this Holiday Season and this should come as no surprise, sales of outerwear have been decimated. Estimates nationwide hour where sales are down 10 while sweater sales have fallen 6 for the season. Maria big ticket items. Bring in the ceo, tom pgi. Thanks for joining us. You are at the forefront of the shopping industry, characterize what you are seeing. We are seeing a very robust shopping season. Our forecasts of for sales increased 3. 5 from last year. Supersaturday this past weekend, really was supersaturday. We estimated 120 million americans went shopping over the past weekend and we estimate 20 of Holiday Shopping still left to come and people expect to do that over the next couple days. Explain the weather thing. We blame the weather when it is to preserve the cold, why people are not shopping, now we blame the weather when it is warm. We need the what it to get people to shop when it is just right . It is nice to have this warm weather. Obviously obviously it impacts cut sales and things of that nature but also the fact that the weather is more enjoyable brings people out so you will see other aspects of the Retail Industry do better. Home depot loves it. You can actually part of their sales going on. Is driving a lot of other areas of growth. The other big thing, there has been a lot of conversation about bricks versus collects and the impact on line. I actually think that story is a little dated. I think what is happening is one of convergence, you see the Shopping Center, physical retail center, the shopping experience, one interesting fact, a third of the folks that bought things online picked up in the store and when they read their 70 of them bought Something Else so is driving traffic. People do a lot of research on line and i think it is additive to the shopping experience, not really a competition. Maria when you want to buy something you want to check out on line, see what it looks like, Price Comparison and then go do research, you see more customers coming in 2 Stores Better informed as to what they want, they tend to be more efficient, shoppers as a result, that drives them to do other things, theres more experience in malls and Shopping Centers, restaurants. Maria what are the big sellers in terms of product . We talked about offline star wars, everything star wars, and things of that nature. It is five years from today, Shopping Mall look any different, different experiences at the Shopping Mall other than shopping. You have seen that began with a lot more dining options, restaurants, entertainment, service providers, that will continue a you will see more Technology Integrated in the shopping experience, Beacon Technology that our Wireless Technology within malls etc. And i think that trend around technology and experience will continue. More of a community center. It is interesting, and often been told how import Shopping Centers are to local communities, and things such as how much of the level of jobs they create, salestax revenue, 140 of sales tax revenue created from Shopping Center is which and Municipal Services so their central to local communities across the United States. Maria it makes sense technology would change it. It goes off by the store. Maria google will say you bought a pair of sneakers last week, we know you did. The cheapest air around, that is a little scary but that is what google is doing, sending you emails next to the store. Ever see a bookstore in a Shopping Mall . There is said the direction of that. I think you will see things like that come back because it is the experience, the reason people enjoy them was the level of experience you may not seek at the scale it once was but you see things like that come back, not just reading books but drinking a cup of coffee and mingling with friends and so forth which is a big trend in shopping. Maria good to have you on the show. Superoptimistic. You need a white beard and red coat. Thank you. Maria one day left to get a Christmas Present for that special someone. How about something that really shines. We have more on that coming up next, stay with us. Maria welcome back, looking at a higher opening, checking markets, futures indicated gain of 60 points on Dow Jones Industrial average, the nasdaq index and the higher this morning, and we are waiting on Economic Data. The Company Behind the 2012 victorianas secret fantasy braw worth an estimated 2. 5 million, london jewelers is a fifth generation familyowned business celebrating its 92 anniversary next year. Vice president randy adele joins me, head of the special Holiday Season with items from their collection and outlook for the year. The liberty of this, you brought some beautiful items for us, characterize what you are seeing in terms of the retail environment . We are actually seeing an upswing in all of the high an end items like high end diamonds, colored diamonds, high end pieces. Maria i looked over the last 20 years and it seems diamonds usually go up in value. Have you ever seen diamonds lose value . Never seen diamonds lose value . No especially what we do, the diamonds that we sell and the quality we sell, we dont see diamonds losing value. Maria in terms of the retail sector, the upscale luxury part of the business. Very much intact, very upbeat, we have seen it in full swing, Holiday Season, we see people coming out and shopping. Maria they you see International Coming in. Theres Nothing Better than putting money into diamonds, it is your investment and no matter what we have it. Maria looks pretty good. This brazen and this ring what are the price points on these things . The ring is 59,000 and the bracelet is 1 a good 2,000. Maria that is it . Lets talk about what else you have here and what are hot sellers. Hot sellers, we make the diamond pendant in our stores, something london does. Maria how many carrots is the diamond . It is all small. Bit of cycle one stone. That is a london jeweler. Maria it is a round four carriage and 10,000. We make it in house, is beautiful and we have every price point across the board here. Maria as you mentioned, Yellow Diamonds, gave us the popularity of colored diamonds light Yellow Diamond versus white diamond. Yellow diamond, fancy, diamond, will always retain its value and in london we do a lot of mixing with yellow and white diamonds and, fancy diamonds. Do you do crossword puzzles as a kid, the word is pretty effective word because it does have a couple different meanings even critics defending him last n saying, that what the word means. She got batten badly frankly she did i think hillary the last person wants to go against trump tough as nails could not be tougher push i dont think she wants to look him in eyes stage or general election with. Every time he opens his mouth, turns into this mega. Going sfloong he has to love. It 39 in polls, by the way, a big field this isnt 39 against one other person this is 39 against big field doing well i think america is speaking public speaking i cant tell you said 100 times cant tell you how many times i walk down the street people come out my entire building voting for your father tell him keep it up you have that person hasnt voted 2r5 years case totally disfranchised say we are going for the first time in 20 years because we believe in what your father is doing he started the revolution there is no question about it, and he is contributed a tremendous amount to politics. Everybody that attacks him seems to have waterfall inventory, in a barrel why do i think that is what is your dad saying. Refreshinging not as politician downed use same soundly bytes. I am saying they attacked your dad, and then all of a sudden they drop in the polls, seems to be like i could name many the gone bobby jindal an example. Staflt guy i am a practicing guy means that people really like his message, right, i mean, every time he is attacked one of them many Lindsey Graham another one, quite frankly jeb. Another one. Every one. I dont think at all based on pol, ted is a great guy we have got to known on trail a great guy but i think my father is going to win my father believes he is going to win will polls suggest he is going to win. The other the other, is there some friendship or are arrangement. I think ever candidate hit him very, very hard ted making a certain level of respect for whatever wln that happens maybe apple camaraderie i am not sure i can put finger on it. He has broke ennew ground should be applauded how did he get the tent back together as new age candidate if you will. I am a republican, and you are going to need to get tent together game plan for that. I think that is radio it the plan for that pu beat hillary the tent is together when you beat hillary everything he is totally. You got to bring the fragmented Party Together what do you think the game plan before we beat hillary. First of all, you neither need to get to convention hope of weakening sweep it through a lot of states where you are almost automatic candidate but my father is somebody who is a unifier in a certain way might be divisive like this you have to be running against other people you have to make points known, et cetera, there is no person more ofpatriot than my father you know him better than neighbor Amazing Company Building Hotels all over the world an amazing life doesnt need to be doing this in a certain way i have said a mill times putting his life on hold, to do something that for him is almost fi. What if he becomes president 99 on business he is 99 on politics we have been there a long time done about unbelievable job he has immense faith in us. In terms of wealth stwok that go on blind terrorist how does that work. I dont think we quite figured it out would be running the company for him he would be focused on politics, it is if it pushes. Last stance 180 on attitude towards your father this is last stance, he is dead i always think most dangerous person is the person drowning right you see that right now, he is 3 in the polls, seems like a nice guy i dont know him but you know seems like most dangerous fern that is person doctrining, seems like a lot of a hill master yooz need to be thrown by a lot of candidacy quite frankly if anything you are going to see 140th at debate exactly that a lot of hail marys in disputed frontrunner. Is he going to be able about to put leave it to guy tough as nails serious fighter will fight until dead to win this that is who he is in business in life, he is a guy wins, i think he will give a great run for money i am proud of him. We hire more senior level successive women amazing people do a great job for us, than anybody. The whole the whole. So because when i was in your office, you had a contingent of people, of muslim faith in office as well i think that that message that you guys need to get out there more if you dont mind me saying this that he has done that in his business he has been very inclusive in business. Deals in dubai other places, there is no question about that, i think what fundamentally letting hundreds of thousand dollars refugees isis infiltrated them, the other day 100 greats one poisonous, kind of same thing, why let them in especially when you create camps and other areas then much closer. That is a different subject, the syrian refugee crises versus all he american muslims his point when are we going to pump brakes pump the brakes let governmentfying thementz out that is what he is saying, this is not a war on religious this is a safest war. Sometimes sometimes others i agree with that, said. We need no, no, i grew he with that how often that is argument misconstrued, it really his message was lets pump brakes until a lot of leaders can figure out what is going on we dont have the o more California Shootings dont have more preys the attacks more 9 11s, we are going to see this go, going to continue to see this better do something about it. Maria thank you so much Forbes Magazine turning a lot of heads the naming a Pharmaceutical Company linnet as Fastest Growing company in 2015, linnet develops manufactures drbts drugs that treat diseases from gorilla councilmana to migraine headaches joining us, lippett company ceo arthur, good to see you thank you for joining us. Congratulations to you. Fastest growing company according to fortune has to make you feel good. I dont rip Drug Companies by myself 460 employees acquisition almost 1,000 erupt the company i am just the face we are in health care treat diseases hopefully cure people. Generic company that is able to offer these drugs, much lower prices, than drugs that are on the market lets not forget that in terms of generic story. That is absolutely correct doing this 47 years one of the stories nobody talks enough about, is we reduce the cost of health care, we bring more affordable products not marketplace most people cant afford a brand product are able to afford the product generic one of the things we do of a glad you mention the acquisition creamers urban affordables inc let me ask you why this acquisition, was so important, you say that you are expecting to achieve approximately 40 million in reduction why such important acquisition. Two companies came on the market suddenly one of them of interest was the one i have known longer period of time, then we we looked at two we thought any information about them looked at product lines, we found that urban was more similar to same size, same type of thinking behind it where they wentoff blockbuster drugs, planned limited competition we went after lower marketed brand drugs, theory less competition you have 10 competitors probably knees one or two to cover United States a lot of competition usually very low margins sometimes no profits at all. We know that health care has been the one area, of of business, that is consolidating huge the leading sector in terms of m a volume expected to continue, what is behind all these deals so that with all regulation it is easy to apply a company than build or expand one unfortunately the dilemma of regulations we deal with, we were the most highly regulated industry in the kin, when you are trying to open a pharmaceutical plant for example, as we wanted to and an philadelphia it would have taken two years, roughly 180 Million Dollars, before any fda approval to manufacture mr. As acquiring a company cap market right away. We spoke with chairman ceo of ebb Merck Ken Frazier yesterday we talked about all the consolidation, but as it relates to taxes, and why were seeing so much change because companies are trying to get a better situation when it comes to taxes on there what he had to say want your take on tax reform. We need a tax code, that doesnt put u. S. Companies out disadvantage lowering statutory rate also means perform going to a territorial system u. S. Only vansed Company Wants to tax ex u. S. Revenue as though taking place in u. S. Companies like merck apple face double taxation penalty if they bring offshore cash to the United States. Do you agree with that. I do, unfortunately i am one of those that manufacturers does everything in United States, so i am panhandled for that, i am competing against Global Companies that are far lower tax rates, that is one of the reasons it is cheaper to acquire a company in where is money going to come to build when taxes they stake 35 corporate earnings. When pfizer merges with allergan going to pay 14 , okay, because that is they are are in ireland that is lower tax rate let me ask you about k Fortune Magazine cease calling you Fastest Growing company of 20 is a where does growth come from in 2016. Within of the reasons for acquisition we chose fiscal year year ending june 30, 2015, for a time for us to do acquisitions, 3 years ago started to put efforts into Business Development looking for acquisitions, we met a few people, did a lot of Due Diligence most tell you look at a lot of companies before you focus and settle on one closing transaction taxi doing as well, so we are able able to focus on it this year we did one called tuckin, 13 man and a woman Revenue Company now when we close transaction june 1 fillerx kraimers in the works we head over heels to try to close that. Growing Company Makes you less vulnerable as a company, because the market you know is conattracting the Customer Base find acquisitions merges going on, at the retailers, and the other end manufacturers you have a lot of consolidation there, because heavy competition. I know you are in business of keeping prices plo, for jobs, that is your business, you are generic drugmaker what do you think of a guy like Martin Shkreli raved hiv drug by 5,000 percent. Kind of a shame as industry he doesnt represent the other 10,000 companies that dont do things like that, and it is unfortunate tainted by that i understand everything wants profits he dont you come from phrma didnt understand what he was doing make a mistake, two shareholders i think to general population phrma industry he is harmless. Good to have you on the show. Thank you for joining us, congratulations on magazine mes appreciate you joining us you love them know lyrics until now you would have to shell out a lot of money to license to practice to greatest hits, nicole with beetles move has fans going wild this inning month. I think we should have been doing this 10 years agoes there a lot of things involved the cyberaspect of this, getting remember the president of the United States will no longer staple at the waldorfastoria from 1933 till past year president was when china bought that or Chinese Company bought that, the president elected to move out, real issues for the United States particularly on defense side, about where probably still 20 years ahead of our competitors on defense and defensive weapons. What he just said if president doesnt stay at waldorf because acquired by Chinese Company so the rooms are tapped, now i want to say condoleezza rise told me dont you think no kons density every time i go to china russia put me in same hotel, hotel room yeah because they tap the rooms. We now have apple phone completely manufactured in china the components of military equipment could be manufactured anywhere in the world you can say that company cant do business with that company, but where are components being manufactured . What about that, dominique makes a good point what about that. I dont think it is that, i think that sort of a commodity aspect, what is not commodity aspect is the infrastructure inside the company, that decisionmaking, and also what is on their internet, that is the intranet. Comemd with technology how do we know what comemd with. You say chip hear from china. Goes in that is possible but if tim doak w cook on set after 60 minutes interview i am pretty sure that isnt happening i sit on board of Business Executives for National Security is that we are being infiltrated there is a war going on right now in the United States with china, they are a comprehensive on property front. Economy is growing enough to stain increase economists expect market to continue to grow into new year next guest says new factors are causing dramatic changes to the distribution of talent across the workforce joining us korn ferry vice chairman thanks for joining us changes give us headlines into new year what is more important in terms of how the market is change. Very interesting, barring a down turner i will have to react if and how it happens if you look next decade big transformings in the way we go to work about robots the studies say over 20 years 50 of jobs on daily basecan be placed through some form of automation. Think about analyst hedge fund what watson is able to do ask how much is that why looking at me should i leave right now i mean that is it . My job is over . Here is the interesting thing. Maria ibm super computer. What they are saying actually is that ceos are going to have a different type of life as he robotics enter 20 of ceo analyzing reports a lot dash boarded wont pour through as much they will get the punch line can spend time in other things like their people. All right, so we were looking at video i remarked about it because we had a video of santa and reindeer the reindeer were googled, robots, so robotics taking more jobs we know that this is a fact. Where are the jobs if many jobs are going to automation where are people getting jobs right now . So, one Interesting Data point, in the fast 100 years weve automated grown faster than automated now concern as to whether we keep that trajectory the jobs that are hot like, ing organizational psychologists. Financial advisories 30 a year talking about the robo advisors till a need for people to people cock youve got Market Research data analystsious big data to make Companies Run better, so now big data is giving a resource you create more people who know how to do things with big data. Maria that is an important question. Maria job safe not a robot that looks like maria talks like maria. I hope not. You and i we are out what does research say about replacement . Got you. Maria kidding you made important point now the skills the onus on the individual to have right skills, we dont have that goes to education who is responsibility is it is it government is it businesses . That are actually going to come up with the right skills, to is actually arm us with right information to get the jobs that are available . Yeah great question, not to be cliche does take a village, so education has to do better, i am onboard of a higher ed institution, constantly innovateing to figure out how to deliver good education that is broad enough to make people think, but narrower enough to prepare for workforce organizational psychologists high demand a correlation, Companies Need to make the talent they have better, because recruitment is not always the answer, so those orlgs psychologists k deploying great intellectual property psychometrics can predict should you investment in korn ferry to do that a learning get a good roi five to 10 jeer investment. At the predict five years going to surprise on robotics front. Interesting question, robotics you know, five years, i this i this notion, that that low paid low skilled jobs are in the greatest jeopardy i think if you look at a scatter gram would be surprised to see the the tail to the right that identifies rolls we may have thought automation proof going to be taken out by aujs or supplemented greatly if we dont have enough ceos to deal with complex accelerated Global Workforce because that is the dynamic makes being a ceo harder than ever before if we make parts of jobs easier may offset the fact the talent might not be there for bigger jobs. How would you characterize jobs market right now. I think the jobs market is highest it has been in sticks, seven years, and the question is how much more momentum do we have. Hottest in terms of job availability . Hottest in terms of companies calling looking to fill rolls cross the spectrum. Fantastic news. I have always said this has not been our you know our previous roir this is sluggish a couple hundred,000 jobs at best but no decline. You said 6 or 7 years got look at that,ed a good news alan good to see you thanks for joining is, next hour we will talk with former homeland secretary tom ridge on Cyber Security threats facing the country how the current strategy to defeat isis could be leaving us vulnerable at home, were back in a moment. Gop president ial candidate donald trump hits back on criticism over his attacks on Hillary Clinton blake burman in washington with latest backandforth. Good morning. The two frontrunners continue to take aim at each other Hillary Clinton, did anything but apologize to donald trump, as requested. When rehe maerjdz on trail yesterday clinton refined her claim from saturday nights debate that isis is using trumps rhetoric to recruit. You look at what is being blasted out with video of mr. Trump being translated into arabic, no muslims coming to the United States other kinds of derogatory defamatory statements, it is playing into the hands of the violent geohad arists. Trump not backing off for his monday night comments at Campaign Speech clip campaign called degrading trump used a yiddish word to scribe male anatomy talking about clintons 2008 primary plos tweeted the term he feels is not vulgar he meant that clinton was beaten badly. Eric trump told you last hour he believes, clinton doesnt want to run against his dad. The saying batten badly frankly she did i think hill is last person who wants going against trump he is tough as nails. National pol out from cnn several months trump way ahead republican side 39 support next ted cruz back at 18. Notable because that is the exact spread from the fox news poll last week, but also a big difference from the quinnipiac poll out yesterday that essentially had those two tied. Maria. Maria thanks so much blake burman d. C. Turning to fight on terrorism have a brandnew quinnipiac poll showing majority u. S. Voters oppose accepting Syrian Refugees into the country a former homeland speaker second tom ridge mr. Secretary good to see you thanks for joining us. Very nice to join you and colleagues. What is the answer we know that isis has begun, to at least try to infiltrate the syrian refugee flow, we know that there was a syrian passport found on one of the the refugees socalled refugees in paris what is your take on this should we stop accepting refugees right now . Well maria i think we need to to from the president obama draw a red line between, denying access to all muslims we should not do unlike what donald trump has said, and being very careful and cautious as many people, republicans and democrats from bringing in refugees particularly from syria iraq, because the information we have about these individuals, the data base, the connection, where Intel Community is xhup existent Law Enforcement nonexamine xivent we have to distinguish in this season of political rhetoric between allowing muslims in from other parts of the world and superseding very, very cautiously, from certain parts of the world i think that is best approach to take. Maria no speaking specifically of refugees from syria, you know there is a real debate about these refugees, and you know problem with red line analogy the president drew a redline then didnt do anything about it. That is the point i do think, the other night when he spoke to two sunday nights ago when he spoke to america he could have said reminded everybody we have 8 million muslims living in. You states peaceful lawabiding once in a what i will we saw a San Bernardino one wrapped minimizes in ideology brought that who are oar evil to San Bernardinolet be really clear denying, access to muslims globally would be a huge mistake. But being very, very cautious, before you let refugees in particularly from syria, perhaps iraq probably the most prudent thing to do at this time. Maria what do you want to say in terms of those of the next steps to defeat isis . Well, for several months, has been encouraging that the white house or anybody else listens but i do think it says reflects of a global scourge, of terrorism going to have to deal with forever more i think dealing with isis requires a multinational effort, i realize we got special forces to ramadi that is good listen isis has past three they are embedded they are did you go in deep these are Occasional Air strikes Strategic Moves with to some special forces is not going to defeat them do i think at some point in time, we have to have broader strategy Multinational Force pry on troops from neighborhood as well as nato somebody has to lead that coalition right now no won is stepping forwarded. Maria yep. We have to wait for next president to do it. How long has Syrian Refugees been coming into this kin how many roughly in the can you please right now. I cant give you a good answer known i wont speculate i think past couple months probably let in a couple dozen beyond that i cant really tell you. Maria home ask you reason i a Cybersecurity Firm governor, the issue of technology, companies, has become front and center how much Responsibility Technology companies should take in terms of tracking terrorism activist on line where do you stand on this it is a slippery slope if government has a backdoor starting to over70 communication when does it end then how do we track terrorism better. Well i think, jim comey caught called on sprite to high to help evolve this issue the balance between Civil Liberties privacy the need to protect america, i would like to think that we could build a Public Private partnership to help answer this problem, frankly, one of the challenges we have, is that groups like isis have really affected a pretty good infrastructure in social Media Internet world by off the shelf encryption material frankly we need to work with private sector is to under circumstances perhaps with a warrant to break through that code and get access to it, it is a real challenge for us, frankly the government is not in a position to respond to that challenge itself so take laparoscopy wp private sector to get a solution make everybody comfortable. Governor, tony blair just came out with a report saying that if we defeat isis, there are 15 other militant groups approximately 70,000 more potential military combatants will rise up to playoff isis, so my question to you sir is this is problem ever going to go away . Is there any way to like wipe out that entire thought if you will . Im not sure why given everything we have seen global scourge of the terrorism is actually has broadened just about every continent, the focus is drying devices eliminating the comfortable base from which they or any other radical group cap operate i dont believe there are 70 radical grupts that have reach protected territory that isis has into i think you have to be very selective as we talked earlier this is a Global Challenge and it is not just the the challenge to the United States, of america. To respond to it that is why i do believe under different leadership perhaps in the future from our white house much more concentrated efforts among community of nations have to deal with this threat wherever it arises but right now biggest challenge, to that Global Community is the embedded isis in iraq, and syria. What about the syria end of it though . America needs to do something about that propriety . I mean just this week we had the story that if there were iranian hackers, that targeted the new york dam doing this through computers, what about that . And how vulnerable are we when it comes to cyber . Im glad you raised it i think we need to be plainspoken about what is going on in the world there is a syria war going on 5th dimension of warfare no i cyberarena china, instructora iran, and youve got organized crime so it is going on every single day, and in the internet of everything we have a role to play the government is now going to share more information with the private sector took four years to get that bill through congress, but it is Good Relationship good start one of the things we do in our company work with a company navex one of the real challenges to educate your employees, and with Online Education the public has a role individual citizens have a role companies have a real to and that a combination in the internet of everything is John Chambers stayed every point of vulnerability every access to the internet every point of access is a point of veshlt we ha vulnerability we have to understand challenged every day thousands of times a day lifting defensive contractors Financial Institutions grid, et cetera, et cetera accept that as a reality, and build relationships that also means we have the better information sharing from federal government, Corporate Enterprises invested billions and billions of dollars and they have to accept it as a dynamic environment, software you have on that system today the strategy swepd day may change tomorrow the enemies are well trained, well financed, and the malware more specific every single day, so, we have got a lot of work to do we have to accept that just like the global scourge of terrorism i think two permanent changing adjust to not be reckless we have to understand we can manage the risk if we accept reality. One, is global scourge of terrorism the other is the cyberwar going on probably will go on for evermore. Do we have capability to deal with this . I beg your pardon. Do weve the capability to deal with it say we accept what it do we do about it. I think we have the capability to reduce the risk, i dont think we could ever say to ourselves we are going to the yeebt of internet government to hope us companies to do it you have to make employees, and the so he everybody understands. Here is the question. Certain things they can do. Secretary. They are not doing. Listen, i mean tim xook ceo of apple, the other night on 60 minimizes basically said if we have a backdoor for government, government is oversteeg communications that is just a back odor opens up the door for good and bad guys we cant have a backdoor government cannot oversee communications because some evil person is going to figure it out they are going to have it so that is the question. Should Technology Companies be focused to have government oversteeg communications a that they can track terrorists yes or no. The opportunity to work in america Free Enterprise system exists because of government, and if i would come into one of these companies with a search warrant, based on a specific request from that company to help us with the encryption i would like to think they would honor it. Propriety. Whole notion we can operate freely we are that we have no responsibility as citizens, corporate citizens person citizens, on selected surgical basis to assist government i just reject that completely. Fair point, secretary good to have you on the show thanks so much. Always good to be with you maria thank you very much. Secretary tom ridge coming up may begin to springlike temperatures two days before christmas he real sector certain is not. We will tell you why next. I am a Material Girl ubiquity. Maria welcome back, thousands of inmates in Washington State released early because of a computer glitch, about laurie with that and headlines. Laurie listen computerize glitch in Washington State casing as many as 3200 inmates to be released early, again all because of a computing error governor ordering immediate action to fix this glitch, was it a bird a plane or superman turns out a shooting fireball that lit up the skies over nevada and california. Maria thank you so much, anthony a lot of retailers on holiday rush as always do, but i guess people dont want to shop when it is beautiful out. Well, so, on the break i just was talking to my Research Person at skybridge, the sales are already starting, and the prediction now is that there is going to be margin compression on earnings rotsdz posted back end of january you have to be worried on retail side given what we are seeing. I dont buy the weather thing though. Maria you dont. I dont. You just think a slow economy. Exactly cold weather not coming index hot weather not coming in, they are not coming in, because what we were talking about earlier in the show, there are other aspects of things have to do health care, extended they have to pay for not showing up in stores. Zpapt shift from shopping in the store to shopping online so that is nothing do with weather you can spend money where you want, online. Maria online was doing well, amazon reporting some good numbers, but still, the economy is under overwhelming. 5. 6 savings number. The highest in the average family. Higher right now average family in america has not gotten a pay increase in six years. You are right. You make a point that the Balance Sheet is better of the individual so some point when youve got that money saved you will spend it. I did see you taking piers of that jewelry send to go. I did yes, i did. Hoping thjohn will boost retail sales. Get. You will spend it only if you feel good about what your situation is where job security is you dont feel good about it going to save it that is to your point savings right as high as ever. Maria welcome back oil prices climbing Third Session in a row opec says it sees demand slowing the rest of the decade the cartel cease Oil Prices Rising to 70 dlargs a barrel by to 20, acadecme group. Oil prices are getting very close to 37 dollars a barrel, right now, that opec story is very interesting, if you read into those numbers, it is really pessimistic they are losing production war with u. S. , that they are going to lose market share for that oil, and that is a big blow to the cartel, you know also saying listen we are going to need a lot of investment, over the next 10 to 20 years, to meet energy demands they also kind of laughed off electric cars big thing for oil today the copy to that rally going Oil Inventories we saw report last night from api showed 3. 6 million barrel drawdown if that is met, in the report from Energy Information administration today, we could see that oil price get back above 37 dollars, back to you. Maria phil thank you so much phil flynn, opec going to 70 by 20, 20. Yeah i mean i think just saying that is, you know one of those process most interesting thing maria that we are in a new paradigm whether we like it or not robotics, automation lower Energy Prices due to Innovation Technology side at break dominique and i were talking about peak oil he theory we learned about years ago ring out of oil in 2010, now we have a glut of toil, of oil driven by technology, the lesson for our viewers about this stuff is that you have he evolve thicking Boone Pickens priekd oil would be 70 dollars by the end of the year one of the smaest oil guys in the in the community, getting this wrong because of the new paradigm we have to shift thinking, net, net i think positive longer term for economy as savings start to build up people tend to go out and spend that. Maria we will see about that what you think did energy with regard to to investing. Look, the good nice here is that he consumer 70 economy, has more dollars than ever dreamed of, in their in any ever manldz we would see, gasoline under 2 dollars a gallon a positive. Maria knockon effects to cheap oil fews it, it can create job cuts, it can put a lot of pressure on the oil company, that is where growth is. Decimated the sector the economies around there local municipalities states tax revenue huge there so a negative side of it but we have to look at this there are industries, pharmaceuticals braindead here Airlines Talk about ups fedex the benefit from lower Energy Prices, that is going to add. Too early to apply that sector also if a distressed admirer too early to buy bonds in that steshth maria particularly on emp side i think a long ways before they become attractive. Jeopargeneral consensus lowe longer i dont see goldman call 20 dollars i really dont unless event puts there it could we see mid 30s mid40s. 36 right now. Okay, lower for longer we heard that about the fed lower for longer now about oil, and so, what are we learning . These thing were good 25, 30 years ago, lower Interest Rates Lower Oil Prices they are not good today, it means there is a inspectorer of deflation out there have people concerned. Looking at for some inflation. Two sides to equation, the fed loser longer great if a borrower if a corporation, you are looking to important money fantastic, buy hows fantastic but if a saver money in a bank account applying a 6 bond you are can i get killed this everyone. I dproo he with everything you said except for the debt piece what the big problem, with a deflation on debt side wages going down ability to sell goods and Services Higher price are going down if you are a borrower debt says constant imagine afternoon american 50,000 dollar income 50,000 dollars debt if hit on wages, then cant repay debt worrisome in sprierm. For sure take a look at economy moments away from key economically reports including durable goods orders that come, in about 4 minutes got the numbers after this break. I built my business with passion. But i keep it growing by making every dollar count. Thats why i have the spark cash card from capital one. I earn unlimited 2 cash back on everything i buy for my studio. And that unlimited 2 cash back from spark means thousands of dollars each year going back into my business. Thats huge for my bottom line. Whats in your wallet . Welcome back, were about a minute away from a slew of big Economic Data this morning. Were expecting durable goods orders coming out, and theyre calling for durable goods orders to be down. And numbers out momentarily. Personal income and spending out. Expected to be up 2 10 of a percent and consumption is expected to be up 3 10 of a percent. Look at the futures headed into the numbers because were expecting a higher opening, the Dow Jones Industrial average expected to open up 90 points, but the durable goods report is typically a market mover and were 15 seconds away from that, anthony, with the market expecting a decline again. Durable goods has been under pressure for some time. So when you look at that dashboard, youre look more of the same, its a slow, steady sluggishness to the economy. The 2 number probably still intact for the First Quarter. Maria unchanged, unchanged. Unchanged, a little better then, but in that zip code of sluggishness and steadiness, maria. Maria you think that the steadiness in terms of the durable goods report will sh show were muddling along, and we cant trace back to historical norms. I maintain that society is still suffering from the Great Recession aftershocks. Even on the spending side, were talking about that after the break. Youve got extra money in your savings account and you still have the post traumatic effect of the Great Recession so youre holding onto that money. Same thing is going on for american business. Maria, where is the catalyst thats going to change the status quo . We dont have anything a new president would do it. We get regulatory reform, tax reform and possibly more discipline on the fiscal side and infrastructure. Youre a year away, anthony. Maria certainly income and spending a bust or in line . Income is up 3 10 of a percent, that was fractionally better than the expectations and spending was up 3 10 of a percent, that was pretty much in line. Durrables were unchanged, which, you know, just like you said, you know, muddling along. I think that janet yellen sees that and doesnt anticipate a big rise. This is going to muddle along. Will she raise again . Possibly in march. They say four times, what do you think the odds of that are . If these numbers stay like this, i think its two to three times, i dont think shell go four. Maria the next rate hike you think is in march . I think thats built in the marketplace already. In terms of isis, the global threat of isis and the Syrian Crisis have president obama on the defensive, but the president so far has been unwilling to concede that a change in strategy is necessary. Listen. I think that theres a legitimate criticism of what ive been doing and our administration has been doing in the sense that we havent, you know, on a regular basis, i think, described all the work that weve been doing for more than a year now to defeat isil. Maria my next guest says that one in every ten Syrian Refugees are loyal to isis. I want to bring in Hoover Institution research fellow, a former air force officer and economist tim kane. Thank you for being on the program. Great, thanks. Maria how do you come up with the numbers, one in every ten Syrian Refugees. I didnt source that, that came from a poll of Syrian Refugees, Something Like 11 of Syrian Refugees are sympathetic. That doesnt mean theyre all terrorists, but that shows why so Many Americans are reluctant to accept refugees. At the same time they recognize we need a strategy and need to be engaged in the middle east and right now it feels like were half engaged and waiting out the next year. Maria we know that the questions on the vetting process application were as follows, are you a terrorist . Do you sympathize with terrorists . I mean, pretty ridiculous stuff. Obviously theyre going to say no and satisfies exactly what malik said so she entered the country in 2014 and proceeded to kill 14 people in california. So, how do we change the vetting system . Well, i dont think the vetting systems possible to be changed. You know, when somebody is a dedicated agent, that comes with the cold war and were worried about soviet agents. This is a tough game, but just accepting in that many refugees, i think we should accept refugees, look, america is the most open country in the world, thats one of our great strengths, but we need to focus on vulnerable populations, the children in particular. But really, the numbers are so overwhelming. Theyre looking at over 11 million refugees out of syria alone, and americas debate over how many we accept or not is a token side show. The real question, how do we stop the syrian war and rise of ice sit, to contain it is not enough. Tim, if you were advising the president today and trying to get to the intersection of making society open and making each and every american feel safe, what would your recommendation be . I think it would be smart to say we will have an open program for refugees, but realistically that has to focus on the neighboring countries. Well keep encouraging and supporting, which the president has already done, our allies in turkey, but that word is key. We dont hear enough talk about an al list and counter model to isis. What countries are in the middle east that we want to see prosper and grow, sort of how we had the nato strategy in the cold war. Whats the positive growth story . Its not just about destroying the enemy, not just counterterrorism, thats what i think the president needs to talk more not just talk more about, but do more. Maria dominic. To be mentioned, working with our allies. We dont seem to have great relationships with some of our strongest allies any more. Look at our relationship with saudi arabia. Turkey isnt exactly our best they dont want to join this fight. To talk and work with our allies, weve done a horrible job with our strongest allies and havent done a really good jo be with anybody else. Maria good point. So how do we work with these people . Youre making a criticism i would echo. This is after seven years of drawing red lines and not following through, not trying to take a cheap shot, its just, its hard to advise this administration when a lot of damage has been done, but i would say, you know, look back at libya. If were going to be engaged in trying to do regime change, you cant just break it and leave. You have to be engaged in trying to build something. Frankly, i think we could do something if we were a reliable partner and our allies are waiting for that. Our approach should be to go to jordan and turkey, how can we support you and support your security and support your growth . That message i havent heard. Maria we havent even heard that message to france, by the way. France gets this 9 11 type attack and hollande is looking for support all over the place. Let me ask you this, tim, there are new reports today that isis has been making authentic looking syrian and iraqi passports. They have a passport making machine. Yeah. This is really disturbing. Because so many of these cities were overrun, we have to, i think, wake up and realize it is a state, that the president and the Administration Like to call it isil. They call themselves isis. Now theyn islamic state. Own, you know, former places that had passports from that we cant distinguish. Theyre completely legitimate passports, it raises the danger level, but i think it really exposes this denial that were just fighting terrorism. Were not. Were fighting jihadism and were fighting jihadism with territory. We have to deny that territory. Maria yeah, they own banks. Theyve got an entire oil ministry. Refineries. Maria refineries. Tax collection system. Maria do we need to attack them like they are a country . So it feels like they are a country. I mean, the way theyve set themselves up. The reluctance to have boots on the ground to me is inexplicable. That reluctance to be engaged, i think to be engaged in iraq has now blown back. Maria tim, thanks for being on the show. Thank you. Tim kane. Dont forget mornings with maria begins 6 a. M. Eastern. As before we go to break, a look at some moments you may have missed in the program. Thats one of my main recipes, thats how i cook, the diner and dominic and anthony need to come up here because theres some shopping to be done for your wives, gentlemen. Or for yourselves, some watches for you. People must understand donald trump to be the nonpc candidate. I dont know how many of these we have to go through, he said this, he said that. Hes never going to be the pc candidate that media wants him to be. And 27 of americans are cool with regifting. Maria im cool with it, too. Youve got it, please send it my way. Im one of those that manufactures and does everything in the United States so im penalized against that. Im competing with companies with far lower tax rates. Another day, another headline for star wars, the force awakens. Lori rothman with the details. Red carpet alert. Sta stars star wars breaking near record. Chewy, were home. Oh, didnt that bring a tear to your eye, that scene with han and chewy returning . The north american ticket sales after opening, according to the hollywood reporter. It looks like steve harvey will return to host Miss Universe despite his epic slip of the lip. He signed a multiyear contract days before the pageant aired sunday. Good timing. And during the broadcast harvey mistakenly named miss colombia as Miss Universe when it was supposed to be miss philippines. And thanks to last minute shoppers, starbucks sold nearly 2 1 2 million gift cards, december 24th throughout u. S. And canada. And a new study says nearly 82 of americans think that gift cards are too impersonal. What do you think, maria. Maria we all know what i think about gift cards. I said i basically poohpoohed the gift cards last hour. Im going to have to see my therapist about getting a starbucks gift card now that im the last person that they thought about. All i get are starbucks gift cards. Maria are you a coffee guy . Coffee, and one of the sponsors. Maria i know what to get you next time. And we have the november durable goods cards coming in unchanged, compared to a year ago as well. Personal income spending up is 3 10 of 1 . The chief investment officer, jim, thanks for joining us. Good morning, maria, thank you. Maria were looking at a rally at the opening of trading and we did have the numbers on the durable goods story. Whats your take on the Economic Data of the day and what does that tell you about the markets . I think its no doubt a positive. The durable goods go flat. And the estimates were for it to be down. 6 , so, its important to our forecast of 2. 7 increase in gdp in the Fourth Quarter and were looking for, you know, its slow, but steady, 2. 4 , 2014ment so those numbers are supportive, as well as the numbers that weve seen from the consumer side, on spending, its. 3 . So, some positive support for the economic back drop that we have, but i think that the markets here are more acting on what weve seen in support and Energy Prices and crude oil the last couple of days. Maria do you worry that this economy is so weak going into the new year and it should be at a faster pace here . Well, weve been wishing for a faster pace for some time, but what is holding it back . Say again . Whats holding it back . Well, there are a number of concerns, Global Concerns on Economic Growth in general, but if you look at the u. S. Economy, some of the factors, autos, housing, the consumer, all positive here. The missing piece has been Capital Spending by corporations. We have seen much more on the m and a side than Companies Investing in hard expenditures, particularly the energy side. A number of those factors from the business side we have not seen, but the other side of the economy is not so bad. Im wondering the view of the fed given the data points . Do you think the fed is steady as she goes or a rate increase. Our forecast for 2016 is for three more additional increases. The fed has four. I think the interesting thing for the market is going to be sort of this raise and pause cycle, which will be difficult. I think its sort of a full employment act for fed watchers, to determine exactly what the fed will do in between meetings. But our forecast is for three here and i think theyll hold to that gradual increase in rates over the next 12, 24 months. Jim, the last two years weve had the First Quarter be pretty lousy numbers and i think we may have had negative numbers or flat this last year. So, assuming we kind of have the same kind of cycle in 2016, it seems pretty difficult to me to believe that the fed will raise Interest Rates in that environment in march. I think its very possible, like you say, that they could skip the march meeting in that environment, but it will be, again, all eyes on sort of the data, how employment does, what activity is. Theres been some effort, as you know, to better seasonally adjust those First Quarter numbers. Maybe with the winter weve had so far, we wont have this, the negative effects of the brutal winters weve seen the last couple of years, but time will tell and well have to see where oil is and where Global Economic environment is, particularly china as we head into the end of the First Quarter. Jim, what are you expecting the 2016 markets to look like . Probably keep your expectations low, though weve had a flat year and its traditionally followed maybe by an up year, i think we would look for low single digits, and medium single digits, that 7, 8 range on the markets. Earnings will be a bit of a question mark going into next year. We have sort of a 3 or 4 increase in earnings. Maria yes. And what the markets will pay for that, but i would keep your expectations low going into 2016, particularly the back drop of a president ial election year. You guys at pnc have this christmas price index which measures inflations using the 12 days of christmas song, the report the cost of a partridge in a pear tree is up 3 1 2 . Turtle dove up 11 1 2 compared to this time last year. Interesting report. Tell us about it. Well, weve been looking at the cost of christmas in the 12 days of christmas for the last 32 years, maria. So, its a fun thing for us to do at this time of the year, it does interestingly enough track overall government cpi over that time frame. This year its only up. 6 . The cost will be about 34,130 and that matches what weve seen in the overall Consumer Price index of. 5 through november. So, very little increase in inflation absent not only in the overall economy, but in the christmas price index as well. And the only Wage Inflation we saw were in the lords aleaping up 3 over last year, we see some wage increase, but not much. Maria jim, see you. Merry christmas. Thank you, same to you. Maria coming up, the futures are looking higher. Check it out. Dow industrials are expected to open up 90 points. First, check out the video out of italy. Nicole petallides on the floor of the new york stock exchange. Nicole its up 37 this year and they came out with numbers after the bell. Watch this one, closing value 131. 85. Thats the bidask at 135. 90, puts it back into record territory again as that comes to few i gos fruition. They had ecommerce sales on the rise and in addition to that, the future orders surged 20 and in greater china, more than 30 . So nothing is stopping nike and yet the analysts are jumping on board as well. And this is on track. They had a record run and moved back 13530, thats the alltime high hit late in november and is likely to be a winner. As they squeeze out a positive. Nike has it going on. Up next final thoughts from Anthony Scaramucci and dominic, what you need to be on the lookout. Back in a few minutes. A look at santas robotic reindeer, this is disturbing. And st. Nick is out about high sleigh drivers. Im not liking it, guys. Creepy. Opening bell about 35 minutes away. Anthony, let me get your final thoughts. You want such a high yield . Yes, the sectors got decimated. Rightly so. Theres an Energy Component of high yield. Unfortunately, sometimes the baby gets thrown out with the bath water and the rest of the sector appears to be as little as 1 to 2 . Historically had he average around 4. This might be an opportunity where you can be selective and find a money manager to be selected. After the third avenue blowup others are worried that high field funds are not having contagion. Often times, its not go out by tomorrow, there could be opportunities there. Well, i would you know, i agree with the high yield and staying away from it is selective, sure. I think theres more wreckage coming. You do. As the rates go up, these Higher Quality bonds, maria, they become more attractive on a relative basis to the stuff that youve been racing for on the yield side. Just quickly though, one of the things they say at the end of over year, we survey our Investment Community hedge funds. Its very bearish. Maria on the market. Bearish on the market. What does it typically mean . The market will trade higher as a result of that. Maria you look at that as a contrary indicator . Theyve positioned for bearishness so that means the inventory has been sold out into the marketplace. Maria thats interesting because youre right, the edge had funds are bearish on the broader market. Last year bullish. Maria they were bullish last year, thats why so many did not do well this year. How many just in the last quarter . The larger ones, i would say little, but of the intermediate ones, many closings. Its a 10,000 community so 500 is 5 . They made big bets based on what the markets were going to do. Maria what were the bets that they blew . Why did so many go under . Some of it was in high yield and some in energy, decimated, but remember the valeant trade over the summer, the Health Care Markets went totally uncorrelated to the rest of the stock market, particularly with valeant, so a lot of these larger hedge funds were in those positions and suffered there, but again, they seem to be a good contraindicator. You come out of davos in 2009, everyone is trif bearish and went in and you have the ability to see the hedge funds what theyre thinking about and we do the survey the ends of the year and this is our conclusion this year. Maria i like it, Anthony Scaramucci and dominic, thank you for seeing you both. Coming up tomorrow, well hear from doug shone, and former new york senator al damato. And the markets are closed early at 1 00 for the Christmas Eve holiday and friday the markets are closed for the Christmas Holiday. Coming around the mountain. Guys. That will do it for us, Varney Company is next and stuart, have a good show. Stuart ill take it, thanks, maria. Front runner versus front runner, the battle is joined, head to head clash, donald trump and Hillary Clinton. Yes, on this eve of Christmas Eve, that political fight, it doesnt seem like christmas does it . Trump says his vulgarity was misinterpreted.
