Islamic state remnants across the region. Those demonstrators storming the embassy upset that the u. S. Conducted those airstrikes on sunday. Yesterday, u. S. Secretary of state mike pompeo was on fox talking about really how all of this started on friday of last week. There was a rocket attack against an iraqi base that houses american troops. One American Contractor was killed. And four u. S. Service members injured. This was the reason that President Trump decided to launch this operation within iraq. But it has been controversial with iraqi leadership. Iraqi Prime Minister called it a violation of iraqi sovereignty. The iranian government who does back this Militia Group said this was support of terrorism by the United States. So the big question now is how is all of this going to affect future americaniraqi relations moving forward. What we know right now hundreds of iraqi demonstrators in baghdad have stormed the u. S. Embassy there are some reports of rubber bullets and tear gas being fired. Right now it does appear that those u. S. Embassy security guards are completely overwhelmed. This is set up to be a very difficult situation for u. S. Forces. And moving forward, we are going to continue to monitor this story throughout the day to see what unfolds at the u. S. Embassy in baghdad. Back to you. Griff trey, i want to ask you a question, as we watch this unfold, reports that the u. S. Ambassador and key staff have been evacuated. Do we have any indication when that has happened and sort of what the u. S. Response has been to security preparation . We are working to confirm that information at this hour. We do know back in may the United States put out an order from the state department to remove all nonessential personnel from iraq. This as demonstrations have rocked the country this entire year against the government. We actually sought Prime Minister resigning earlier this year and he stayed in that role really as a symbolic thing to try to keep the calm and keep some structure and order in the Iraqi Government. Again at this hour, we cant confirm the evacuations that have taken place. There are reports that all of the essential Embassy Staff has been ordered to leave the country. We are working at this hour to confirm that information that has been reported by reuters. As the a result of Iraqi Security officials who have spoken with that organization. One other point of note though, the United States has tried to maintain some presence there following what President Trump has described as the defeat of the Islamic State. All of this really has been ernesto twinsd because when you step back and look at the larger picture, this Group Hezbollah that was targeted in iraq and syria over the weekend by u. S. Airstrikes has previously helped to liberate the iraqi city of mosul during the height of the fight against the Islamic State. So moving forward this was a group that was supported by the Iraqi Government and, again did, have ties to Senior Leadership and still does today within the government in baghdad. Embassy in iraq and must be held accountable for it and the safety of every american serving. Get in students faces. Sadly that has become the norm. Many times these things just arent captured on video. When you are unaccustomed to hearing ideas that you havent ever heard before and on a College Campus thats conservative ideas. Naturally you are not going to know how to respond to them. For some conservative students, they want to set up a conservative group and go out and ideas and often met with intimidation peers have never met a conservative student. They dont know how to react.
