In his behalf. Cohen, before learning his fate, he told a judge i take fords possibility for each actor that i pled guilty to. Life oxime coverage free t4 has correspondent john roberts is on the lawn of the white house pray lets go back to laura ingle outside the federal court and lower manhattan. Laura . Hi, harris. Its been a very dramatic day inside the federal courthouse where Michael Cohen, the president ial fixer onetime president ial fixerturnfelon not only learn his fate of 36 months in prison but also received a very hefty fine and forfeiture list that he will have to get to as he moves through the next few months. In addition to the three years that he got today, he was ordered to forfeit 500,000 and pay restitution of nearly 1. 4 million. And, pay 50,000 fine and 800 assessment fee. Also, those are connected to the eight charges from the Southern District of new york. As for the one charge of the special counsels office of lying to congress, he got two months for that in prison to be served concurrently with the Southern District charges. Also, three years of supervised release. We want to get to some of his statements. He spoke for 8 minutes in front of the judge today. He said i stand before your honor humbly and painfully aware that we are here for one reason. As you mentioned. I take full responsibility for those acts, including those in booking the president the United States. He teared up at one note, moment, apologizing to the public, saying you deserve to know the truth. Lying to you was unjust. He mentioned the president s recent treat on, calling him week. He said his weakness was a Blind Loyalty to donald trump, adding he felt it was his duty to cover up his dirty deeds. They explained to the judge that his cooperation with the Southern District of new york in which he has pled guilty to those eight charges the reason he did that, he said, is that cohen was wary of a longterm Cooperation Agreement for personal reasons, asserting that cohen wanted to keep himself and his family from the glare of the cameras. Adding that mr. Cohen had the misfortune to be counsel to the president. Special counsel prosecutor that had the floor, telling the judge that cohen provided them credible and valuable information regarding any links between the campaign and foreign government. Prosecutors with the Southern District of new york hit back next, saying that cohen cant have it both ways. Referring to the fact that cooperated with Robert Muellers team but not with theirs. I did mention it was emotional and we didnt see tears at first, but are producers that were in the courtroom said that Michael Cohens family members were in tears. Especially his children. In fact, we saw them leaving his daughter sitting in the front seat of the car. As she went by us we could see that she was definitely very emotional and having a very hard time with todays proceedings. He will be turning himself in on march 6th, so hes got time before he heads off to prison. Harris a lot of talk of what he could be doing, especially with Democrat Members of congress, in the months to come before he has to report. Laura ingle from outside the federal courthouse here in new york. Thank you. The white house reacting lets go to chief White House Correspondent john roberts with that from the north lawn. Dawn . No official reaction from the president just yet, nothing on his twitter feed. Although im sure that the president will likely have something to say about this at some point this afternoon. Harris, i think what we saw there, in the statements that Michael Cohen made before judge william pauley, is the wave of the next three months before he actually has to go to jail are going to unfold. Because, in court, he doesnt blame it on himself prayed he blamed everyone. He said yeah, i did, but the reasons i do that was because a President Trump. When it comes to the idea of an Illegal Campaign conjugation, we heard from the present yesterday in an interview with raiders in which he said number one, it wasnt a campaign contribution. If it were, its only civil. Even if its only civil, there was no violation based on what we did. To add a fourth thing to it, Michael Cohen is a lawyer. He supposed and it was a do. Thats what you rely on people for, thats what you pay lawyers for. Michael cohen should have known what he was doing. I hope he did. My lawyers say, frankly, that everything he did was fine. Its likely that Michael Cohen is going to continue his cooperative deal that he signed with the special counsels office on that guilty plea to lying to congress for which he got two months to run concurrently with the three years that he will spend in prison. And, his attorney, who is now just his Communications Advisor lanny davis indicating in a statement that Michael Cohen has got a lot more to say about all this. Saying Michael Cohen, former attorney to donald trump, continues to tell the truth about Donald Trumps misconduct over the years. At the paris time, after mr. Mueller completes his investigation and issues his final report, i look forward to assisting him publicly. All he knows about mr. Trump. That includes any appropriate Congressional Committee interested in the search for the truth and the different between facts and lies, the repeated lies, cannot can don not contradict stubborn facts. He pointed out he doesnt have to report until march 6th. That gives them a lot of time to explore this deal that hes there with Michael Cohen. To squeeze him, to say you know youre going to jail. March 6th. Three years. But if you cooperate with us, well, maybe the office of the special counsel can put a good word in with judge pauley and get a reduced sentence. Now is the time where theyve got a lot of leverage. We will see what comes of it, harris. Harris john roberts, thank you very much. I want to bring in the guest robert rae, a former federal prosecutor who investigated the clintons when he succeeded Kenneth Starr as independent counsel. Think of her being with me today. Nice to be with you. My question about the cooperation deal. Have you seen anything like this . How would it work . Its unusual because hes cooperating with have an agreement in part to provide assistance to bob mueller about stress office and the district of new york didnt seem to be overly impressed. And if your hand, with any assistance that he had provided. So, its unusual. Its without the protections of a Cooperation Agreement. I think we have to take him at his word that the reason he did what he did is because he was anxious to give us over and done with and behind them. For some, this may be seen as a lenient sentence. My view of this as a former prosecutor in dominic and a white lawyer defense lawyer, try serving three years in prison yourself and tell me if you think its a light sentence. Its not a light sentence. Harris any of the money on top of that, 500,000. You have some fees. What you make of the total package, if you build . You talk about the present time. I think if there had been a representation by the government that he had been and are mostly helpful, meaning, the full throttle, donna cooperation. Harris they didnt say that with him. No, they did not. You would think they would do a year in prison or less. I think you have the and understood that there were six of one and half a dozen of the other. Yes, hes been nominally cooperative, but there were also serious crimes here and there are and shes holding back. Its clear from what the government is saying, there are limits to what he was saying. I do think that hasnt locations i do think their applications. I know guy petrillo very well, i think the one think he will face if he has to step down i testify before the hill is that he will have privilege prayed there as it thinks you might about it. Harris im trying to wrap my brain around that, because this is also somebody that has trouble telling the truth. Hes guilty of perjury. Lets out with that. The republicans have a field day with this if the democrats decided to call Michael Cohen as a witness sometime between now and march. Harris is interesting, too, to get your opinion on the political side. When you were investigating the clintons and the whitewater developer develop an scandal and whether or they had done anything illegal with antebellum and company , you are looking for sheer evidence of a link between them on crime. Thats always the case. How difficult is that in a situation with someone who was this close to the present . Record them surreptitiously, did a list of things to may be question his truthtelling prayed even before he said he lied. I think im a surprisingly to the public, even in those situations is very difficult to prove in a criminal case that someone knowingly and willfully violated the law. Just because Michael Cohen says i know that i committed a Campaign Finance violation and that i did at the direction of President Trump, doesnt mean that President Trump can be Proven Guilty of anything. Indeed, the president , you have already seen, has raised the specter of an advice of counsel defense. Listen, this guy was my lawyer. This is what i hired him to do. I dont know Campaign Finance laws. I expect my lawyer to know that. He told me this was lawful. Harris is that fair . Thats totally fair. Unless you can prove that the president actually knew that it was a Campaign Finance violation, you are not going to be able to prove that he committed a criminal offense. Ask anybody, with regard to Campaign Finance violations. Harris john edwards, weve been down this road before with the democrats. Heavenly . I will give you one last thought on this. I think thats exactly right. How difficult is it to prove . I think all the news of the prosecutors closing closing in on President Trump with regard to this Campaign Finance violation first of all, its technical. I dont think it is provably criminal as far as the president is concerned. Are you going to take on an impeachment proceeding with regard to the president of United States over a Campaign Finance violation . I dont think so. Harris do they ever say these things about you . Like oh, hes wrapping up were people reading tea leaves back than the way they are now . Of course, nobody really knows other than the person who was charged with making a decision. I think my expectation given the fact that these three individuals are Going Forward to sentencing, it suggests that we are closing in on the end here. How much more time will elapse before we finally get there . I dont know. But you even heard from lanny davis, i think he expects that there is going to Mueller Report prior to the time that Michael Cohen has to surrender to the bureau to begin serving his sentence. I think thats about right. I think you should expect a report in the First Quarter of next year. Harris will you come back . Of course. Harris i enjoyed talking with you. Thank for being on the program. For more reaction, lets begin john dermody of california. Great to see you, congressman. We often talk about a sundry of things. We will talk about Michael Cohen when the new reaction. Amounted all surprised. He has nine different indictments, pled guilty to all of them. From tax evasion to perjury, all of those, and Campaign Finance paid all of them added up to very serious charges and some very serious time that he will be spending in jail. No doubt about it. Where this goes from here, it remains to be seen. I suspect he has far more things to talk about. Whether he will or not, and whether thats part of the investigation, we dont know. What theyre doing in the seventh district of new york. Harris i dont know if you could hear my conversation with the former whitewater independent counsel, robert ray. He took over for Kenneth Starr. He said you know, you dont look at an impeachment situation based on what is indicated. We dont know the whole truth, but what is indicated by medica medical and paying off mr. So on and so forth. What will democrats do . Its a Risky Business to go after a sitting president. Politically. Politically, believe also had a lot of history. What has been done. At least twice in the last 50 years. Its certainly not a good thing to have to do, but if the Mueller Investigation shows that there are clear violations of the law, the issues that are now before the courts in the proceeding. If those show clear violations, i think there is no option but for congress to carry out its constitutional responsibility of holding the president accountable. Harris will you allow me we are about to get some breaking video now of Michael Cohen arriving home to his new york city apartment. So they will be a time gap between today and march 6th when he has to report to federal prison. He will do 36 months, unless he does something according to a cooperation deal, which we dont have all the notes on, but the cooperation deal would mean that perhaps he could get a reduced sentence if he gives further information. So, as we look toward march 6th, this is Michael Cohen and his family returning home after the Sentencing Court today. 36 months, about half the time he was exposed to former whitewater independent counsel robert ray. He just told me thats a significant amount of time, dont poopoo that. He was exposed to the fine. When you look at what he is facing now, coming up and just about three months or so, again, i get a reaction based on what democrats might do. Youve got a lot to do as you take over the house in january. Do you anticipate spending a lot of time with Michael Cohen, a criminal lawyer . Well, i just dont know the answer to that. Clearly, there will be hearings. That is already, i think currently being scheduled. Not scheduled, but being planned. For the schedule to be laid out. Youre quite right, there are many other things we want to do. We made some commitments in the campaign. For health care, for ending the insurance discrimination, for dealing with the cost of drugs. All of those commitments we intend to carry out. The first bill, we will put out on the floor. It deals with the corruption deals of the openness of congress, the way in which we operate so that people are not a place with the situation they had back in december of 2017. A massive tax bill brought to the floor without one hearing. Without anybody. We want that openness, to do with Campaign Finance reform. This is hr 1. We have a lot of legislation. Also we do have a constitutional responsibility to look at potential crimes, misdemeanors, that the president may have engaged in. Harris congressman, it will be interesting to see what Michael Cohen what role he could play in any of that. But you point out, health care, so many issues that americans are hoping that lawmakers on capitol hill will actually do their job to get moving forward. Great to see you, sir. Thank you yes, structure, too. Thank you. Think you. Harris tomorrow, dont miss tower about numbered overtime special. President donald trump will join me for what is sure to be a wide ranging interview. 1 00 p. M. Eastern time ill be at the white house on fox news channel. Keep. Meanwhile, along the atlantic, theresa may is fighting for her political life. Facing a noconfidence vote. The debate over brexit . The deal has come to a head. Harris a developing story at this hour, a federal judge has sentenced President Trumps former personal attorney Michael Cohen to three years in prison for tax evasion, bank fraud, and Campaign Finance violation. We just got reaction from a democrat, John Garamendi in california pray lets hear from republican, congressman annie diggs of arizona. He serves on the house judiciary committee. You and i have been talking about this leading up. Is this what you expected 36 months for Michael Cohen . Im not surprised. I thought they would give him more because thats what mueller was asking for. I think he got a little break because another prosecutor was asking for a lesser sentence. So, this is probably about where it would land a little bit. Harris do think Michael Cohen is someone that mueller or democrats on the capitol hill can really lean on in terms of getting more information . Hes got quite a gap between now and march 6th before he has to report to federal prison. Well, they are going to continue to try and squeeze him. The question is and this is what i keep wondering youve got prosecutors who said he is inherently unreliable in the sense that his veracity can be questioned on anything. So, thats what you have going on here a guy who is not truthful, apparently, and at the same time they want to rely on what he says to try and impeach President Trump or indict him or whatever other objective they have. This is the problem i have. Harris so, as we head into 2019 and the house changes hands in terms of majority leadership with democrats, how concerned are you that they are and, cumbersome and garamendi said they can do both, they can look at investigations and they can get stuff done. If it pollutes relation ships across the political aisle, if youre going after the president and you are trying to get health care done. Itll be tough. The first of all, i havent heard any of my colleagues across the aisle come up with one policy idea that they really want to get after this time. Not with any specificity. What i have heard them say is jerry nadler wants to conduct investigations. He wants to impeach President Trump. You want to impeach bret kavanaugh. Maxine waters wants to open up a whole bushel full of investigations. Thats what im hearing. Im not hearing an idea that we can advance some policy that will benefit the country. Instead when im hearing is we are going to investigate, we are going to impeach, its going to be highly contentious. That is really not going to be good for the country, and probably not good for this institution. I dont know how good it will be, reaching across the aisle, to try and work together. Speech harris thats my que. Congressman garamendi is saying he wants to get health care and infrastructure in these everything is done. But to want it, you are going actually have to do it. Democrats often say they can walk and talk and chew gum and all this stuff at the same time, but we know from the recent history with mueller that these investigations remember, there were six of them in the beginning into any russian collusion or connection. Conspiracy is really the word we want to use their more than collusion, because thats the crime. Lets talk about where you are in terms of looking forward. And what you can do in the house to make sure things stay on track. We got to challenges. Weve got a few weeks left of the majority, and weve got some things that we should be doing, whether its to build the border from the border wall, take care of this spending bill, et cetera. When you move into the minority and what im hearing when i hear the chairman of committees that im going to sit on not talk about policy issues, but rather talk about investigations it makes me believe that we are going to have to play defense in a very aggressive manner. There might be some places where we can find some mutual accord, but i would say we are going have to be very aggressive in defending the policies and priorities and principles that we have. Harris you know, i want to take us a little broader now. You said we have to play defense in an aggressive manner. Did you see that sit down with pelosi, schumer, and the president yesterday . There was some defense and offense being played there. What is your take on being able to get the border wall system that the president wants . Irrespective of whether they do it before the end of the year or next year. I would say, first of all, we can do it a couple ways. But the house needs to do it. I think we need to do it as a separate standalone bill, and not part of a funding bill. Another way we can do it is to actually pass out the budget itself and it do it a reconciliation. There are some ways that we can get this done. It would take a lot of work, it would take some time. We might have to stay here a little bit longer than people want, but im willing to do that and i would urge my colleagues to be willing to do it, too. I think this is important. Harris i dont know if you saw across the chamber yesterday, Senate Majority leader Mitch Mcconnell said you might have to work between christmas and new years to actually get some stuff done. I thought oh, boy expect the Senate Working during the holidays. Its great to see you. Thank you very much. Thanks, harris. Harris other we know the fate of michael coyne, at least for now, because he did do that cooperation deal. If he did, bob mueller or testifying to the democrats in congress there might be another way to ben entering his time. For now, 36 months. Live, learn and get luvs. Harris the president s former attorney, Michael Cohen, today was sentenced to three years in prison amid questions now about whats next for the Mueller Investigation. The attorneys for Michael Flynn asking to await a prison sentence for him for lying to investigators. The sentencing is set for next week, and former trump 2016 Campaign ChairPaul Manafort is expected to be sentenced in two cases early next year. Chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge is live in washington with the news. Catherine . Thank you, harris, and good afternoon. According to this 178 page sentencing memo, the attorneys want probation with 200 hours of community service, citing his extensive cooperation with counsel investigators including 52 hours of meetings and the production of thousands of records for the justice department. It reads in part, as the government has made clear, his cooperation was not grudging or delayed. Rather, it preceded his guilty plea or any threatened indictment. It began shortly after he was first contacted by were assisty the councils office. The filing also has new details but has generally 2017 fbi interview that is part of the plea. The filing states that former deputy fbi director andrew mccabe, who was later fired from the bureau for fraud, calls flynn at short notice, sending to aidens including disgraced agents peter strzok to interview flynn with about the russian ambassador. It also says he didnt have a lawyer president , they didnt warn them that false demons could be prosecuted. Flynns lawyers point to what they describe as disparate treatment, sing fbi warned George Papadopoulos and that lying investigators is a federal offense. In a separate develop income a federal judge wants more information from counsel investigators whether Paul Manafort violated his plea agreement. The allegation is that metaphor lied about his foreign contact and communications with the administration. Special counsels sentencing and memos filed friday were heavily redacted to protect sensitive information. The federal judge has full access to the evidence and still wants more information. The court did come as you mention, is set for january but is expected both sides will continue their private negotiations. As you also noted, his sentencing is set for tuesday of next week, harris. Harris cap and, thank you very much. Youre welcome. Harris republican senator john thune joined me now. Incoming senator majority whip, good to see you, sir. Lets talk about the politics running this. Bret baier told me last around outnumbered that the president has had unsavory people around him. There are politics involved in that. It is not a good look. We talked about, for the president. What say you on capitol hill when he got to negotiate some of the politics of this . Everything in this city is about politics, and the president has experienced in his first two years in office a lot of politics. The other side attacking him. I think that what we know so far is an incomplete picture. Until we actually get all the evidence and everything is out there, and the Mueller Investigation wraps up hopefully soon, we will have a more complete and full picture. Then people can start drawing conclusions. We are getting in bits and pieces of information that its really hard to draw any hard fast conclusions until we have the full set of facts and all the evidence. Harris if there is a gap that is usable for democrats, according to a couple cooperatl with Michael Cohen from the sentencing we signed hours a le while ago 36 months behind bars. This gap between march now and march 6th, will you do on the hill . Lets talk to Michael Cohen . I think it wouldnt surprise me at all, actually, if the democrats on the house decided to do that. Obviously we control the majority in the senate. I doubt that the Senate Democrats are going to be able to call witnesses, that will be the republicans that would do that in the senate. Thats a real possibility. There is a gap there, its something that they might entertain in terms of trying to trade draw more attention to this and embarrass the president. Frankly, a better use of a time would be to work with the republicans and be the presiden an agenda that would help the make up people prayed not wasting their times attacking the president and launching investigations. I think thats counterproductive in the best interest of the country. Harris would you may may be put up anything oppositional to what they do in the house . I think i got a little bit of that from you. I want to move on and talk about democrats now. The president is sitting down with nancy pelosi house leadership, and Chuck SchumerSenate Leadership yesterday for democrats. It was pretty confrontational at times. How to get something down for this president that includes a border wall system either before the end of the year or beyond it . I think its going to come down to the continuing discussions between the president and nancy pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Clearly, in order to give the government funded and to get funding for the border wall, there is going to have to be some agreement. It takes 50 votes in the senate to do anything. That is the fundamental mass we have to deal with, that requires a number of democrat votes. If we are going to reach a conclusion here that keeps the government from shutting down, everybodys going to have to be at the table. I hope the discussions that started yesterday will continue in a constructive way. Obviously, the democrats now are resisting any amount, it seems, of Border Security funding. When, in fact, in 2013, many of them including senator schumer voted for billions of dollars in Border Security. Harris absolute, and 2006 26 they started allocating funding to build that reinforced fence line to be referred to as the board a while. Lets hear from Chuck Schumer and i have another question. No president should ever say that he or she would be proud to shut the government down. No president should so glibly use the American Government and the millions of workers who work so hard as a bargaining chip. But that is where President Trump is headed. Harris do you feel thats deeply rich from a man who, earlier this year, shut down the government to help out Daca Recipients . We had a schumer shut down earlier in the year and they didnt end well for him. They ran a rush open up the government again prayed honestly, in this case, harris, the democrats the burn is going to be on them. Because the house republicans, senate republicans, the president of the United States, all support 5 billion for Border Security. While funding, whatever you want to call it. And its the democrats who are standing in the way of that. I think the American People will rightly judge that, if and when the time comes. But i hope the better solution is that they can come to an agreement about how to protect our borders, secure our borders, keep americans safe, and keep the government open at the same time. Harris the president says they need ten people across the aisle to join him and join you to get something done. Itll be interesting to see if there are ten democrats that will do that. Harris fox news alert, we are awaiting an outcome of a noconfidence vote underway right now and the British Parliament. That will determine whether theresa may will remain as Prime Minister. Lawmakers in her own party triggered a vote amid criticism that she mishandled the brexit deal. She will be forced out if she does not receive a simple majority from conservative Party Members in a secret ballot. The british Prime Minister warns that ousting her will have consequences. We shouldnt risk handing control of the brexit negotiations to Opposition Mps in parliament. That would mean risking delaying brexit or even stopping the brexit. None of that would be in the national interest, so i think we need to get on and deliver a good brexit for the country. Harris steve hilton, host of the next revolution on sunday night. Watch. Former director of strategy for Prime MinisterDavid Cameron you have, my friend, told me on many occasions that this cost him his job, too. Thats exactly right. He lost the referendum. In the immediate aftermath of that, he resigned much too quickly. Thats why you have ended up in this terrible mess. Because the conservative party two years ago had to scramble almost overnight to find a leader to replace David Cameron. They ended up with theresa may. Remember, she campaigned against brexit. She voted against brexit. And yet she ended up having to try and deliver it, even though she didnt believe in it. That is the root cause of the mess we have today. Because she has put together a deal with the European Union for britain to leave, which doesnt actually deliver brexit. Thats why nobodys happy with it. Thats why she is facing this leadership challenge today. But the real problem, harris, frankly it looks like she is going to win this boat albeit, by a very small margin. Then you are left with the bigger problem, which is that there is not a majority of support in the British Parliament for the plan that she has put forward. She cant get it through. Harris here is what im reading it is a disingenuous plan, and not just because she was against brexit before but because she doesnt believe even in what she has negotiated as the plan going forth. Are you really going to sell it . The questions that are being asked behind the scenes. Are we seeing a little swamp in the u. K. . Oh, yes. I think thats right. Youve got the whole of the establishment, they were against brexit in the first place. Then, once the referendum went through, they have been trying every single day since then to stop it. To water it down, to stop it, to block it, to backtrack. Thats whats been happening. The establishment, the civil service, the bureaucracy, the media establishment, the Business Establishment theyve all been against it from day one and are still trying to stop it now. Theresa may is part of that. Harris really quickly, do you like this deal . If you do or dont, why not . I hate it. It doesnt deliver brexit. It overturns brexit. It is the opposite. It harris our people being told that . Do they know it . The people who voted for brexit no. Thats why you have the challenge of theresa may, because she is pretending this delivers brexit even though it doesnt. What its really doing harris but are they being told the truth . By some people. Youve got conservative lawmakers like boris johnson, for example, who have been very clear that this deal doesnt deliver brexit. Its the opposite, it keeps britain not as it doesnt make britain an independent nation setting its own laws, doing its own trade deals. All the people dont make things promised in brexit. That doesnt happen with her deal. Boris johnson and a few other bricks that leaders have been saying that. Thats why you got this challenge to her empowerment today within her own party. There arent enough of the challengers to topple her. It looks to me like she is going to stay. Harris yes or no, is brexit dead . [sigh] i think what we are headed toward, friendly, is another referendum. That will determine whether he lives or dies. Harris wow. In a lot of political careers and the balance, every time the referendum comes up, the people get closer and closer to knowing who is really leading them. Very slumptastic, it sounds like. We are live in kentucky talking to distillates about the impact of the tariffs on that allamerican beverage prayed up next, on the daily briefing. Harris fox top story. Judgment day for Michael Cohen. The president s former lawyer and confidant sentenced to 36 months for tax evasion, lying to congress, and Campaign Finance violations. Legal power panel now. Judge burns, former president prosecutor, richard st. Paul as a defense attorney and a former prosecutor as well. Gentlemen, thank you for being here. We have had a lot of looks now not speculation, because we have the facts of the sentencing. Your first reactions . To be expected, doug and i were talking up back there we were saying thats right in the middle. There is no jail time, which was coming from the mueller cooperation, there was more jail time, coming from the seven district. We didnt cooperate with as much. It was between no jail time, to five years, he got three years. Right in the middle. Harris are you listening to Robert Miller . What are you listening for in terms of i wont give him no jail time but ill less than that. But i sentence, i come up with three results when i come in. I tell the clients, i have the lenient, the harsh, and down the middle. Here, the guidelines were 5163 months. Start with that. The government is recommend and 42 months, which is pretty reasonable. Often they come in harsh, give them the top of the range. He did cooperate a little bit. And judge pauley, who i know, went a little bit below that. As richard explained, and i agree with him, this was basically down the middle. The lenient one would have been like 18 months. The harsh one, 50 months. This was down the middle. Harris you are closer to being on the same page as the former special counsel for brightwater. An independent counsel, robert ray, we had on the program earlier. He said this is not a walk in the park, 36 months pay 500,000. And fees on top of that. So, give you some room to negotiate if youre going to hear from a ry donnette guy between now and the time he is good prison, march 6. Thats actually right. There might be some other information. Interestingly enough, mueller recommended a lenient sentence because his cooperation was tied to the investigation dealing with the Campaign Finance violations. Harris robert ray says you arent going to impeach anybody on that. Harris and his mistress, so on and so forth. I dont consider that a high crime and misdemeanor. What robert ray was saying sorry to interrupt you it was a slight of hand. Cohen went in and admitted something which is by no means a settled thing. Harris thats exactly right. Im not defending anybody or condemning them. Just explaining the law. He goes in, heres the sleightofhand. I did that, and by the way, he directed me to do it. The present is guilty of two felonies. By the become a little message for me. But he is guilty until they plead guilty or convicted by a jury. So lets not hear that rhetoric that hes guilty of felony prey thats ridiculous. Harris when i point out that hes a criminal lawyer and democrats may put themselves at risk politically early in the year, if they trot him out as anything other than that. Is that overplaying it . Absolutely not. There is no credibility with him. He wanted to seek a specific result by testifying against the president prayed but he didnt cooperate with the seven district because there were other crimes in other clients he would advocate that he did not pay thats what he did it. He didnt want him look at anybody else. Harris i dont mean to look away from you gentlemen, but Rudy Giuliani attorney for the president has just gotten off the phone and give this reaction. The sentencing hearing revealed by President Trump thinks this is a witch hunt. Cohen said very dramatically in the hearing that he was blindly loyal to the president. We know that because we have reporters there. If Blind Loyalty is surreptitiously recording or decline, not telling him about it, then revealing the contents of that recording, it stands as a stark contradiction to what cohen has said about being loyal to trump. I see you nodding, and what do you say . I say the environment is so toxic. Harris oh, wow. I watch you cover this all the time, harris. Michael cohen this is flat out comical and they cant wait to hear your action hes horrible, hes terrible, hes alive. He says that the minute he hears a narrative that helps him, he will be the bastion, the citadel, of truthfulness. Through the comical. Harris gentlemen, richard and doug, i have to run.
