Ones are gone as well. Medical examiners are continuing to work to identify the bodies and notify the families who have been desperately searching for answers, including one woman, Edie Hallberg who came here looking for any information about her 87yearold mother. I just want to find my mom. Somebody needs to tell me where she is. I want to know if she is dead or alive or still in walmart. We are learning more about some of the victims including a husband and wife who doctors say likely died protecting their two month old baby who is now recovering from broken bones. 26 people who were shot are still recovering from their injuries. Several remain in critical conditions ranging in age from 2 82. Many expected to survive. They are pursuing cases against the 21yearold gunman from allen texas, outside of dallas nearly 600 miles away. El pasos District Attorney claims they plan to file capital murder charges and seek the Death Penalty because he has lost the right to be among us. They said the Justice Department may seek the Death Penalty as well. We are conducting a methodical investigation with our partners, but with a view toward bringing federal hate crime charges and federal firearms charges which carry a penalty of death. I would be remiss if i didnt mention the incredible outpour of support from the community. The hospital and blood bank said out a request to donate and hundreds of people lined up to donate in over 100degree weather outside to be able to do that. This morning before 6 00 a. M. , there was a line of folks outside. At this point they are saying anyone who wants to donate, please make a reservation because they have been so overwhelmed by people looking for any way to help. Thank you. Its tough to hear those details but we appreciate the update. Just a couple things i want to say about this. Then we will get some perspective from congressman matt gates and lisa booth who are here with me tonight in new york. Every time there is one of these terrible mass murders we seem to replay the same loop tape. One side screams about the nra and accuses the country of having blood on their hands and the other hits back and says you dont understand the issue and you dont understand us. Thats not going to get us anywhere. Just because you cant solve everything doesnt mean you cant do anything. It seems to me one thing most people do agree on is that these murders are carried out by sick, evil individuals who absolutely should not have had access to guns. Lets start by focusing on that. Policies like red flag laws to get guns out of the hands of those who shouldnt have them and lets have a conversation in a calm and respectful way. We now know the el paso attack was terrorism. The fbi has opened a terrorism investigation and this is what they said. Hate has no place in our country and we are going to take care of it. Judging on what we are learning, it was ideologically driven. It was radical White Supremacy targeting hispanic people. Just as we stood with our jewish brothers and sisters, so we stand with all hispanic americans tonight. And as ivanka trump said today, White Supremacy like all other forms is an evil that must be destroyed. We been hearing a lot today about President Trump and his base. Let me tell you about trump supporters. They are good, decent americans who love their country, love their community, above all love their family. They are as disgusted by this White Supremacy filth as everyone else, and i know for sure if President Trump condemns this radical supremacy his supporters will be right behind him, cheering him on. I will be talking a lot more about this aspect of the weekend events tomorrow on deep dive on fox nation. But what i want to do now is, as i mentioned, just focus on something practical and trying lower the temperature. Theres a lot of inflammatory language around and i think weve got to try to be positive impractical. A specific thing, i just want to highlight, this red flag policy is something very interesting that i want to share with you. This is from last year from march 12, from the white house and this is President Trump getting behind this idea of red flag orders, lets just be really clear about what the president was supporting here. They were directly department of justice to provide Technical Assistance to states, allowing Law Enforcement to remove firearms from individuals who are demonstrated threats to others and very importantly, doing all of this in a way that ensures the Due Process Rights of lawabiding citizens. This seems to me a very, very promising area for us to pursue because, actually, the governor of arizona is trying to implement a version of this law that actually has the support of the nra, and i think this could be the practical thing that we ought to focus on. We need to discuss all of this tonight. Lisa booth and florida congressman matt. We asked you to come on to talk about Something Else which is your thought on environmental policy. We will get to that later in the show. What you make of this idea of red flag laws being an area where we might just get some agreement. Youve got the nra behind what the governor of arizona is doing. That sounds encouraging to me. It most certainly is. Americans need to know that lawabiding gun owners are not their enemy. We have millions of lawabiding gun owners who actually contribute to a positive environment for safety all over this country. I think with technology and by empowering Law Enforcement we can do a lot more to identify these extreme cases and ensure they dont explode into these tragic events of violence. You are so right call this out as an act of terrorism and to explain that we do not have any place for White Supremacists in our country. Im proud of the work that happened in my state of florida after the tragedy at parkland. Legislators responded working alongside gun advocates, parents, Gun Control Groups and they crafted solutions that allow us to be able to keep guns out of the hands of people that we know are mentally ill, and i really think this is a statebystate approach because in different states you have different ways to access the courts. Some states have state based Law Enforcement, others rely primarily on local. [inaudible] altogether i think we will have to try a new approach. There so many people, theres this other conversation that goes on, but it seems to me. [inaudible] i think part of the challenge with all of this is there is not really a complicit approach to solve the issues. Many of them are different, and its very challenging because these are complex problems. To be honest, i think a lot of the challenges we face are societal and much differen deeper than what government can address. I think it happens on the community and family level and a lot of it is much deeper than this. The parkland shooting was an impetus for the state to take action. Theres 15 states that have red flag laws, singular Lindsey Graham tweeted that Something Congress needs to take a look at. I know ivanka trump was getting behind that and focusing on the Mental Health provision. I keep going back to, im a virginian and i keep going back, there was a state senator with bipolar disease for his son and he was concerned that his son was increasingly facing challenges. There were no beds available so he had to bring his son back home. His son then turned the gun on himself. He had gone out looking for help and could not find it at that time. I think there are probably a lot of parents like him around the country that are trying to seek help and facing those challenges. Theres not one simplistic approach we can take. Its multidimensional and theres a lot of different aspects to this. I do think the broader concern are things that congress and government cant reach which is the societal breakdown as a country. I think we are broken society right now. Tim ryan had a great point on that. In the president ial debates, he has highlighted the utility of social Emotional Learning in our schools. It is harder for young people to cope with regular challenges now with the amplification and bullying that occurs on the internet and social media and the scalability of some of that evil. If we focus more on coping skills, ensuring that young people are ready to face the world, maybe it wont lead them to think that their only way to get attention for their personal strife is to bring such pain and anguish to the lives of others. As you both pointed out there so many different aspects. As i said were not gonna solve it here but i think theres something in this rhetoric. It seems to me you could get a coalition behind that that could be practical and effective. Coming up more on yesterdays tragedies. We will have a live update from dayton, next. This is the averys with the support they needed to get back on track. Well done guys. team member this is wells fargo. Welcome back. We are learning more about the tragic shooting in dayton ohio that claimed the lives of nine people and injured more than two dozen. Steve, its amazing how quickly things change. Listen, 24 hours after a night of barhopping turned into senseless tragedy, bloodshed and grief here on the streets of dayton. We saw a show of unity on those very same streets as the people gathered for a candlelight vigil that has just wrapped up. Among other things they tacked about was the bravery of the Six Police Officers who stop the deadly rampage of the gunman. Police are showing security video on which you can see this 24yearold gunman marching up these cobblestone streets where i stand firing round after round. Six Police Officers were patrolling the district, stopped him during the deadly rampage, killing him as he attempted to enter a crowded bar. Had this individual made it through the doorway of that bar, with that level of weaponry, there would have been catastrophic injury and loss of life. Of the four women and five men killed, one was the gunmans 22yearold sister. They lived with their parents and nearby belt broke and drove to dayton together in their parents car. She was one of the first killed in the rampage. The ar15 used by the gunman was outfitted to hold drum clips capable of holding 100 rounds. The police chief said it was purchased legally and there was nothing in his past that would have prevented him from buying a weapon. Thank you. That Police Response was so incredible. We saw the same in the gilroy shooting last weekend in california. All right, Fox News Contributor lisa booth is still with me and we have some new gas, former senior Economic Advisor and alexander hutton. First time on the show, i wish it was in more positive circumstances but here we are. Steve, what is your take on this, again bearing in mind i think people are looking for something positive, constructiv constructive. First of all, donald trump is no more responsible for this kind of shooting then Bernie Sanders was for this police shooting. You have crazy people out there. I think its not enough for the president to put the flags at half mast, when you have to ask people about the shooting and they have to ask which one, we have a big problem in this country. We should advise the president that we should have a national commission, a Bipartisan Commission of leaders who know a lot about how to reduce violence in this country and dealing with issues like Mental Health. Reasonable gun restrictions and weapon restrictions. Issues of security. How do we keep people safe at malls, schools, sporting events and these kind of thing. Youre right. Theres no easy solution but im sure experts can come together and find some Reasonable Solutions to keep america safe. I think, its interesting, you have to do it with a deep respect and understanding of the gun owning community. I think thats where this often goes wrong. This outrage is very understandable. Its a tragedy of epic proportion. Two shootings in 24 hours and three this week. The outrage is understandable. What lisa said earlier is correct, there is no simplistic understanding or solution to this. I think that its important to condemn this for what it is, domestic terrorist, violence of white national, molde motivated by White Nationalism and i think this is also indicative of a broader trend that we see today of the existential crisis of meaning that we see motivating the Opioid Crisis and the suicide epidemic and anxiety and other despair that americans are suffering from and finding meaning in all these misplaced radical ideology. I think its important have a more comprehensive discussion about these social problems and again, not approach it with simplistic policy. I was going to say again with the complex nature of this, you look at the el paso shooting and as you rightfully said it look like it was hate dripping shooting but they dont all necessarily fit that box in this white supremacist viewpoint. Even the shooters manifesto which has been out there has complex viewpoints of himself. He talks about Climate Change and we need to rid the earth of less people. The complex nature of all this and you go down the line you can see even for the dayton shooting we dont know the motivation. You can look at the Las Vegas Shooting you dont know the motivation but you have a white guy gunning down people at a music concert. You go to another shooting in texas, the dallas shooting, an africanamerican man who wanted to target white Police Officers. Go to Virginia Tech, the Virginia Tech shooter is an asian man. Again carrying two handguns with hits to the bigger problem of how complex this is. We have people saying lets take away guns like the ar15. Ive never owned one. I probably will never own one in my entire life but that being said, what happens the next time theres a Virginia Tech shooting in the person uses two handguns. We then take away handguns . Of your gun owner i can clearly understand. First of all, the police. The police were on this and saved hundreds of lives in both these instances. I get frustrated with some of my friends on the left who demagogue against the police. Youve heard them say that throwing people in jail and they shouldnt be, i know theres some of that, but come on, the First Responders are the heroes. First of all, i was tell my kids, they want to sit in the middle. People emma given how widespread these attacks have been in the shootings, people just have to be aware. I say sit on the aisle because you never know when this kind of thing is gonna happen. People have to just be aware that this is a new environment that we live in. Its a pretty grim and depressing note to end it on but im afraid we have to end it there. Thank you for all those perspectives. We have to change the topic and get back to what we had planned to talk to you about tonight. Coming up, three ideas that President Trump could usefully steal from the democratic debate. The accused killer is in custody. Investigators say that is the case of domestic terrorism meaning the suspect could face the Death Penalty. Now back to the next revolution. All right, welcome back. I have had a lot of experience with election campaigns and heres what a smart candidate does. If your opponent has good ideas, steal them and leave them. [inaudible] there were a lot of them exposed like decriminalizing the border and taking Health Insurance away from a hundred of millions of americans but amongst all that loony left nonsense there were a handful of good ideas. President trump should shamelessly steal them. Here is the first one. My plan is to create a chief manufacturing officer so we could actually start making things in the United States. This person will work in the white house and report directly to me. We will start making things again. Chief manufacturing officer. I like the sound of that. Do you think theres already too many people working in government and instead of adding positions we need to streamline things and get rid of people . I think theres way too much bureaucracy in government. If you look at how much more streamlined campaigns are in capitol hill. I think bureaucracy. [inaudible] whos done more for manufacturing . Hes created over a Million Construction and mining jobs in two and half years so the irony of this, yes we should do something help manufacturing but wait a second, he knows people want to Green New Deal. We wont make anything in america. Are you sure you dont want a ministry of love or peace. [laughter] , not a great start. Lets bring in elizabeth warren. She has a Green Investment thing, she can explain it herself. I have a plan for a green industrial policy that takes advantage of the fact that we do what we do best and that is innovate and create. I propose putting 2 trillion in so we do the research. We then say anyone in the world can use it so long as you build it right here in america. So that sounds very much like what President Trump talks about in terms of by america. We dont need the government to do it. Think about what happened in energy with the fracking revolution. That was not done with any government money. Google, apple, amazon, those companies didnt need a Government Agency to tell them how to do it. Im not too high on that idea. Can i piggyback on that as well. Part of what is baffling to me when democrats want to move Something Like the Green New Deal and kill off fossil fuel is part of the reasons we have reduced emissions is because of natural gas in the private sector yet they want to kill that. I guess theyre making up for the damage. Even joe biden whos apparently supposed to be a moderate wants to get rid of fossil fuel. Oh yes, and he was very clear about that. Do we have any clarity about how this would differentiate from the Green New Deal . My concern with that is that its very highminded and wellintentioned rhetoric but the devil is in the details. I wouldnt give them the credit. I think the Green New Deal is basically about state control. Last one. Kamala harris on healthcare. Generally healthcare its as bad as the others and terms of ending up with the abolition of private insurance but theres one particular element of what shes talking about that is worth considering. I have met so Many Americans who stick to a job that they do not like and are not prosperous simply because they need the healthcare that employer provides. Its time we separate employers from the kind of healthcare people get. I think thats really interesting. Still private sector but the concept of separating healthcare from employers, still doing it through the private sector. We do have more Labor Mobility and flexibility, i think it sounds like a good idea. Ive run businesses here and i think if people had their independence back that would be better. I agree. If you look at the history why are hi healthcare is so distorted and expensive to begin with it dates back to this world war ii wage freeze where they were not allowed to increase wages. They had to compensate their employees in different ways. And today, even today healthcare employerprovided is not taxable which incidentally does not benefit, it hurts independent contractors, Small Business owners and its just this set aside thats another involvement in our Healthcare System to know who the proponents are . These incredibly Generous Health benefits. The last thing they want to d do its a burden on business. Theres an old joke about gm, theyre not a car company there Healthcare Company that just happens to make cars. It is true that the incredible high cost of healthcare has burdened american manufacturers. When you talk about ideas they should steal from the democrats, they can say we can cover everybody in the United States with healthcare but we can do it at much lower cost, not through obamacare or medicare for all but by providing all sorts of choices, letting people buy insurance across state lines, things that would provide universal coverage but at much lower cost. Thats a great version of this. What she is advocating for is the government, which i study her plan, shes talking about the government taking people of off, hundred 56 Million People, this is government control and she says she allows room for the private sector but it would be heavily regulated. Again, hundred 56 Million People will lose their employerbased care so this is the heavy hand of the federal government. I think if theres one contracting aspect of what weve seen in 2020, its how much will the government be involved in your life versus the opposite. Everything they are talking about is centralization. Tax the rich. Intellectual incoherence, shes talking about breaking up countries and power of the people but when it comes to government its all about centralizing power rather than distributing it. Before we take a break we have another swamp watch victory to share with you. A couple of weeks ago we told you about the bailout between amazon and the department of defense over a 10 billiondollar Cloud Computing contract. We called for it to be stopped. I worked on this contracting issue myself in government, giant monopolized contracts like this are bad policy, putting all of our defense Cloud Computing in one basket allows more corruption and security then dividing it up into multiple, smaller contracts. That also produces Competition Among the contractors, incentivizing intimidation. We are happy to report that they have decided to hit the pause button after reexamining the contract. That is great news. Coming up, everyone says she is loony but on one issue Marianne Williamson made more sense than any other democrat on the stage last night. We will tell you what it is, after the break. I want it that way. I cant believe it. That karl brought his karaoke machine . Aint nothing but a heartache. Get the lowest price guaranteed on all Choice Hotels when you book direct at choicehotels. Com. Welcome back everyone, listen to what Marianne Williamson had to say about healthcare last week. We need to realize we have a sickness care rather than a Healthcare System. We need to be the party talking about why so many of our policies are leading to people getting sick to begin with. I really agree with that. Guess whos back, its Musical Chairs tonight. I thought that made a lot of sense. Who wouldve thought that the greatest moment of clarity and sanity in the democratic debate would be brought to us by over spiritual advisor Marianne Williamson but she sounds a lot like republicans before we got power, before we took over the house of representatives, we talked on the campaign trail about the need to have a Healthcare System that actually triggered before people got sick, to focus on wellness, to focus on ensuring we had a healthy population. Then we got power, then we went and solicited millions of dollars from Health Insurance companies and all of a sudden. [inaudible] i was just gonna say, look, the truth is that about half of healthcare and medical problems are due to lifestyle decisions, whether you smoke, do you get enough exercise, do you get enough sleep, your diet, all of these things. Any kind of policies that reward people for good Health Behavior would be a very good thing, but thats why having obamacare where everybody pays the same insurance rates regardless of your lifestyle decision is a bad way to go about it. Its actually going the other direction. The trigger for example which is a big problem. A lot of companies are doing this. Theyre giving rewards to their employees if they get exercise. In some states thats illega illegal. We have government standing in the way in some instances of the private sector trying to create a healthier workforce for the benefit of themselves in our country. Whole foods is doing a great job on that. One of the most clinically devastating things that democrats are doing is the healthcare debate that theyre having on the president ial debate stage, primarily for the reason they lost the house, 63 seats in the house, six seats in the senate was because obamacare was a terrible politically. That was the big challenge. You have democrats continuing to go down that road, talking about things like medicare for all, talking about Kamala Harris plan between Bernie Sanders and joe biden, kicking a hundred 56 Million People off their employerbased plan. How do you think thats going to go down with americans, particularly when you look at the fact that 96 of americans are already injured. I totally agree. Thats why think its so much more constructive what shes talking about, promotion and preventing from getting sick in the first place. Technology is making it easier than ever before to target your resources and be smart about that. We already have the technology to target peoples genes and those who might have higher notion for cancer and Heart Disease but we cant access that technology for the betterment of people because we cant possibly tell someone early in life that they might have limited potential as a result of a health consequence. Give me a break. Lets harness the great opportunity that lies in our technological capability and lets help live better lives. Heres one of the problems about this. One of the things that disturb me the most is the demonization of our drug industry. These are the people who are going to create the cures for Heart Disease and multiple sclerosis and cancer. You opened up a whole can we can harness love. Lets get the ouija board out and lets call Marianne Williams right here. You did a deep dive on Marianne Williams. She was an advisor for the clintons. [inaudible] if you can get steven tyler sober and keep the clintons together, you can probably solve a lot of our problems. Hes been very positive impact practical all night. He has up positive thought on the Green New Deal. We will hear what it is, after this. Great riches will find you when Liberty Mutual customizes your Car Insurance, so you only pay for what you need. Wow. Thanks, zoltar. How can i ever repay you . Maybe you could free zoltar . Thanks, lady. Taxi only pay for what you need. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Liberty. Welcome back. We all know about the democrats loony left Green New Deal and its ridiculous price tag. Just this week they showed the average household would pay 17000 a year for it. Being against the Green New Deal doesnt mean youre against the environment. Congressman gates has a positive and practical alternative and here he is to talk about it. This is the original reason youre here tonight but youve got Something Else. I havent vision for american. [inaudible] it is unlimited in its potential to solve our environmental challenges and unrivaled throughout the world. The answer is not to question american jobs and to make hardworking american taxpayers shoulder the burden of generations of poor environmental decision. The right answer is to unlock innovation and protect american innovators when we go sell our goods around the world. America, we were the foundation of solar but then china stole our technology, replicated and replaced us. Theyre doing the same thing with electric vehicles and i think President Trumps trade policy and intellectual property policy may be more relevant than even the regulatory policy. Your idea, you called it the green rea real deal. What would it do specifically. Shirt. The element of my plan involved improving our electric grid for everyone. What could be more populous than that. The electric grid accommodate a broader. Its crazy that we burn dirty coal. We also need to use our federal land better. There should be a blank canvas to go tinker with Battery Systems or renewable energy. Right now we have so many special regulations that bind our access to federal land. You have to hire six lefthanded eskimos to do something great. Country. We also have to have a more Inclusive Technology doctrine. Regulations stifle access to hydroelectric power, wind power, all types of clean, renewable energies. If we have a doctrine that embraced module nuclear and insured that we didnt disproportionately negatively affect clean energy, i think we could have less government, more innovation and thats what the world will copy. The world will not copy our regulations that kill job. The copier innovations if we do it right. It seems like theres an element of deregulation. This administration has already done that but it sounds like theres more proactive in this as well. Its not just saying hands off. Youve got a proactive role in mind. Absolutely. We should go avenge every innovator who gets ripped off and we need aggressive policy in doing so. We also have to appoint the right people to the Nuclear Regulatory commission so we can scale cleaner power to rule america. Rule america is running too much on coal. We can transition to nuclear if we didnt have special interest running the pics. President trump is making progress and implementing terror tariffs on china when he catches them stealing our stuff. How can we move toward, how is this going to happen. Theres a blended approach and im grateful that i have colleagues filing legislation with renewables. Senator barrasso working on the next level of Carbon Capture technology but what we really need is a doctrine that says were not going to punish hardworking americans because we havent made sound environmental decisions. We are going to empower americans to lead the world with innovative solutions. I long for the environment, it ought to be a conservative issue and lend itself to this kind of thing. Its not enough just to be negative and say the Green New Deal is ridiculous of course it is. Its important to younger voters. Im a younger republican, i see that among my fellow Young Conservatives there is a desire to actually conserve some stuff and so, by embracing this we can solve these problems. Thank you. We will keep an eye on it and hopefully talk more about it. This seems to be turning into the joe biden comedy section. It appears to be no exception.
