Its very important to keep in mind that around the country, certainly in the bay area, people are still very upset about this incoming president and they plan to protest around the bay area, around the country and certainly here. There are large numbers of protesters in washington and were told they intend to be very, very vocal. Everyone, of course, hopes that no one gets hurt and it doesnt get out of hand but there clearly will be very active protests and ive spoken to some of those bay area protesters. And here a march is getting under way in oakland right now, one of several planned over the next few days in response to president elect Donald Trumps inauguration. Melanie woodrow is live with the advice protesters are getting from both Law Enforcement and the aclu. Melanie . Reporter these marches and rallies are expected to be peaceful. But if that changes, if Law Enforcement orders an order to disperse not complying could result in arrests. They are sharing other tips to keep you from getting arrested as you express your First Amendment rights. The bay area saw widespread gathers and protests after the president ial election. San Francisco Police say as long as people maintain civility, they should not expect any civil action. They will have representatives monitoring each gathering. We really want to ensure that the rights of the public to express their viewpoints is protected. Reporter the aclu will be giving out pocketsized guides with your rights when it comes to Law Enforcement. In the event you are cited, the aclu recommends having a governmentissued i. D. On you to make the process go more smoothly. Also there can be immigration consequences for an arrest. Think carefully about that. Snapping photos or videos is within your right but if you int ter fear with our process, thats when it escalates. Reporter while Law Enforcement needs a warrant or your consent to search your phone, the aclu suggests having a numerical passcode for an additional layer of protection. Officials say thats primarily for crowd control. Another group staged a peaceful presentation on the golden gate bridge. The group is hoping to form a human chain across the entire bridge and beyond. They say they plan to, quote, create a human bridge of togetherness. The event starts at 10 00 tomorrow and authorities are warning of possible traffic delays. Reporter today, Contra Costa County signed a proclamation of emergency so they can access disaster funds for all of the rain damage. Behind me on 24, a mudslide along the freeway, everywhere you drive along the east bay you see downed limbs and trees and mudslides like this. It was roots up at Martin Luther king taking down cable lines and absolute absolute absolutely dessimating the sidewalks. One homeowner awoke to a tree crashing through his fence. On the right side of your screen, you can see how it just missed a childs swing in the backyard. Next door, another tree toppled just barely missing a bathroom window. Tree services say they are booked up until february. Bikers from lafayette checked out the road collapse from last week. Yeah, it was shocking to see how big it was and its grown in the last few days. With rain on the way, it doesnt look good. Oshaunnessey will be closed tomorrow. An east bay woman is warning other drivers someone might be throwing rocks at cars on the freeway. Her car was hit on tuesday on highway 24 at the laugh ffayett walnut creek border. Alyss elissa . Reporter there is a fence here but she thinks items have been thrown off the side and somebody could get hurt or killed. It was just such a scary moment and i can still hear the sound. It was awful. Reporter this is her damaged car. The sunroof shattered by either a rock or a bullet. The object struck the top of her suv. This happened as she drove under the overpass right where highway 24 meets up with 680. It was just a huge blast. I said to my son, i think ive been shot. She pulled off the freeway and called 911. They have received between 15 and 25 similar reports since december. The majority of these are in the 680, highway 24 area. Reporter they are see cracked windshields and sunroofs but no injuries so far. We want to let the public know we are concerned about this. Its on our radar. Its not clear at this point why these suspects chose the same address for two different robberies because the people who live there told us they didnt order any takeout. They just surrounded me and started cursing me. Reporter hes a pizza driver, the first of two robbed on two consecutive nights at the same address in one antioch neighborhood. They took my money and the pizza and tried to get my phone but i didnt give it to them. That was monday night. Tuesday, it happened again, this time to a driver delivering chinese takeout. Several young men jumped out from behind bushes, beat and robbed him. He rang the door bell and asked the unwitting homeowner for help. This woman says her family lives in the house near where both attacks occurred. These group of people have violated the sense of security for not only them but for may family in that neighborhood. Shes a regular customer where one of the victimized delivery drivers works. These arent just people trying to earn an honest living to support themselves and families. This shouldnt be tolerated at all. Reporter now police say they are warning delivery drivers in the area to be aware of their surroundings.
