In her First Press Conference as fed chair, janet yellen may have accidentally given traders a time table. Yellen hinted to traders that Interest Rates could rise, sometime next spring. Thats six months after the fed plans to wind down its bondbuying program, in october or november. Yellen added that the fed will reduce its bondbuying purchases by 10 billion dollars next month, and that conditions continue to improve in the labor market. Despite some softer recent data, the fomcs outlook for continued progress toward our goals of maximum employment and inflation returning to 2 remains broadly unchanged. The fed threw another curve ball. Yellen says before hiking Interest Rates, the fed will look at a variety of factors, not just the unemployment rate. Another Investment Bank is cutting back its commodities business. Jp morgan chase is selling its commodities unit for 3 and a half billion dollars. The buyer is the fast growing swiss energy and Commodity Group mercuria. Jp morgan is believed to have decided to sell it because of rising regulatory and political pressure and so it can concentrate on its core business lending money. The new York Attorney general has put highfrequency trading in the news. Eric schneiderman says regulators have to look at what he called the unfair trade advantages some traders have. Lionsgate made a name and made money with the twilight and hunger games series. This weekend lionsgate is opening with divergent. Divergent which is a chicago based, dystopian future film Science Fiction thing that theyre hoping is going to be the next young adult franchise. The thing that we have seen with these studios who have been trying to create these franchises is that for every one that succeeds like a hunger games or a twilight theres usually about four or five that fall flat on their face. May i quote you in your review to me . Absolutely. It sucks. Yes it does. Its a terrible movie. If hunger games is sort of the 10 on the scale of the young adult franchise and twilight is the 1, divergent is a very strong 2or weak 2. So does lionsgate have a lot riding on this . It does. In the potentail for the future it does. There are other books in this series they hope to make further films from. The budget is only 80 million which is pretty reasonable for a film of this type so they dont have to do as much money as some of these other big budget films to come back in the profit. They probably will. All they need is a really strong Opening Weekend and i think theyre going to get it. Here are the numbers for the box office for last weekend you think the muppets should be the number 1 movie. It should be. Its the best movie opening this weekend. It might not have the same heart and nostalgia of the reboot that jason segel did but all of the players are backjames bobin, the director, Burt Mckenzie writing the songs, the same writers. Its so much fun. I was filled with joy watching the muppets movie. That and the lego movie are 2 of my favorite movies of the year so far. If theres any justice in the world the muppet movie will be number 1 this weekend. But all of the people who read the divergent book are going to go out and see that. Just go see muppets people the last one thats opening that you want to talk about is bad words. Do you have good words for bad words . I do have good words. Its Jason Batemans directorial debut. Its played a couple festivals and its expanding now. Its going to expand even further next week. He plays a 40 year old guy whos entering the childrens spelling bees that we see on television. This is not for kids. It is not. It is absolutely for adults. He has a very foul mouth throughout the movie hes swearing at children. Hes playing psychological warfare with children. Its a very funny movie especially the first twothirds of it. The last third is sort of weak and predictable but the first twothirds are really funny. So adults go see the muppets with your kids and then leave the kids at home and go see bad words. No matter what you say about divergent you still think it is going to be the number 1 this weekend. Yeah unfortunately it will be. I dont think its going to hold on. It doesnt have the strength that the hunger games has. So i think its going to die out very quickly especially with noah and captain america opening in the next couple of weeks. And thats the carry over audience so you think word of mouth is probably going to bury it. The fans are going to be there but its not something thats going to reach out to people who dont know the book. It just shows you how strong the Risk Appetite has been in this market. They didnt get punished and i think people are thinking this is the company that on paper, bad weather is really going to affect them. Ground is about 75 76 of their business so a big effect with Winter Weather. We should see is this stock going to break the 140 level or is it going to sell back off. Is that your resistance level then . 140 . Yeah it is. I think this company is really priced for perfection. They didnt say anything in this Earnings Announcement that would make me think the stock should go higher. Repeatedly there have been sellers at the 140 level and i think thats kind of the magnet right now. And these Delivery Companies like ups are bellweathers for the overall economy because if theyre moving more stuff that means theres more stuff being made and people buying more things. Absolutely. Its something definitely to keep an eye off of but i dont think that i would touch this stock. Maybe for a trade if it goes down to 130 but i think break 130 and we could even go lower.
