They Want Congress to appoint someone less close to trump, like melania. [ laughter ] President Trumps soninlaw and adviser Jared Kushner reportedly met with executives from a russian bank that was under u. S. Sanctions during the 2016 president ial election. But im sure theres a perfectly treasonable explanation. [ laughter ] the white house said today that President Trump has turned down an offer to throw out the first pitch on opening day for the washington nationals. But they said he would be happy to throw out some of the nationals. [ laughter and applause ] you go. You go. You stay. He dont want to throw out a first pitch. Baseball looks like a big ol bowling ball in his hands. [ laughter ] ford announced today it will create 130 new jobs in michigan. Is one of them president . Asked hillary. [ laughter ] a Catholic High School in illinois recently held a ceremony in which the boys of the school randomly chose their prom dates names out of a hat. I got mary, said everyone. [ laughter ] a kansas man was recently honored for donating 32 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross over the past 64 years. Said the man, some of it was even mine. [ laughter ] that guy is a hero and im joking him down. A North CarolinaJewelry Store has apologized for putting up a billboard saying sometimes its okay to throw rocks at girls. Look at this. Even worse is the billboard they replaced it with. [ laughter ] a new study has found that female athletes have a higher concussion rate than men. They get one every time a man explains sports to them. [ laughter ] [ audience ohs ] aww. I gave some people a concussion with that joke. [ light laughter ] the u. S. Coast guard recently seized 420 million of cocaine from canadian ships. To give you an idea of how much cocaine that is, here is a picture of aerosmith. [ laughter ] and finally, in a powerful speech on the house floor last night, representative Maxine Waters stated that she does not respect donald trump. Today fox newss Host Bill Oreilly reacted to a clip of her speech on fox and friends and had this to say. I didnt hear a word she said. I was i was looking at the james brown wig. If we have a picture of james its the same its the same one. Seth here to comment is one of our writers, amber, in a segment we call ambers minute of fury. [ cheers and applause ] fool [ laughter ] couldnt listen to her because of that james brown wig, huh . Its the same wig, you say . Well theres only one problem. James brown didnt wear a wig, you idiot thats his hair. Thats his hair. And even thats his hair. [ laughter ] thats the hardest working hair in show business. You clearly dont know what a wig is. For all you know, this is a wig. And it is. [ laughter ] but either way, it doesnt matter if shes wearing a burger king crown. You listen to her because she is a United States congresswoman. [ cheers and applause ] okay . And why are you criticizing her appearance . It certainly cant be because she looks bad, because lets be clear, wig or not, bitch stay looking tight. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] meanwhile, yo ass can use a wig. Like this one. [ laughter ] and what the hell is wrong with your eyesight . Was it the hair or the fact that theyre both black . Do you think im Maxine Waters right now . [ laughter ] doesnt make a difference . We think the exact same thing. Both i oppose this president. Thats not a radical statement. Most people do. [ laughter ] and how is it hard to listen to someone with this hair, but its easy to listen to someone with this hair . [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] looking tight. Now, bill oreilly apologized earlier today. So i would like to too. Bill, im sorry. Please accept my apology, and this wig. This has been ambers minute of fury. [ cheers and applause ] seth give it up for amber ruffin, everybody. [ cheers and applause ] weve got a great show for you tonight. She is the star of ghost in the shell, Scarlett Johansson is here tonight. [ cheers and applauase ] they are the cohosts of morning joe on msnbc, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski are here tonight. [ cheers and applause ] also, well be cooking up some razor clams and shrimp with the great, one of our favorites, mario batali is here tonight. So [ cheers and applause ] youre here on a good one. Before we get to all of that, congress is supposed to be investigating the Trump Administrations alleged ties to russia. But today, there are new questions about the republican leading that investigation and whether hes capable of doing his job. For more on this, its time for a closer look. [ cheers and applause ] seth every day it seems like theres some new revelation about the trump teams russian contacts. The Trump Administration keeps failing to disclose them, and then giving us shifting explanations for why they happen. And now even the president s soninlaw has been caught up in the story. New questions about a newly disclosed meeting between trumps top adviser, his soninlaw Jared Kushner, and the head of a russian bank that is subject to u. S. Sanctions. And Jared Kushner had this unexplained and previously undisclosed meeting with this guy who is the head of a russian governmentcontrolled bank with very close ties to president putin and to the russian spy services. Seth at this point it would just be easier to talk about people at the white who didnt meet with shady russians. For example, heres mike the white house groundskeeper. [ laughter ] and before that, he was lets see, the head groundskeeper at the kremlin. Son of a bitch. [ laughter ] and clearly trump is starting to feel the heat over all these russian revelations because he took to twitter last night to lash out and suggested the media should be focusing not on him, but on Hillary Clinton. The president has once again taken to twitter, saying in effect theres nothing to see here on the subject of russia. Quote, why isnt the House Intelligence Committee looking into the bill and hillary deal that allowed big uranium to go to russia, russian speech money to bill, the hillaryrussian reset, praise of russia by hillary, or Podesta Russian Company . Trumprussia story is a hoax. Make America Great again. Seth do you know why congress isnt looking into Hillary Clinton . Because every day youre presenting them with a thousand bigger problems. [ laughter ] if godzilla is rampaging in the street, its not the best time to say, we need to fix these potholes. [ light laughter ] and by the way, that hillary story is false. She didnt approve a uranium deal with russia. The state department was one of nine agencies that approved the deal and theres no evidence clinton herself got involved in the deal personally. But i guess i cant expect you to understand the details of a uranium deal since the only metals youre familiar with are irons. [ laughter ] now, trump tweets aside, there are obviously serious questions about his teams alleged russian ties. And as you may recall, congress is supposed to be investigating those ties through the House Intelligence Committee, which is chaired by a republican congressman named devin nunes. Nunes of course looks like every guy you dont remember meeting. [ laughter ] really . Were you at lindas barbecue . All right, if you say so. [ light laughter ] nunes caused a firestorm last week when he held a press conference by himself and claimed mysteriously that he had seen evidence that Trump Officials were legally surveiled by the government. And then, nunes ran to the white house to tell trump about it before he told the members of his own committee. A move so egregious it shocked former officials from the Intelligence Committee and justice department. This is a chairman who is suppose to be doing an impartial, bipartisan investigation of the president and his inner circle. And instead he goes and basically tells the president and his Team Everything he knows. Ive got to believe that other members of the committee are horrified at what they just witnessed. I have never seen a Committee Chairman come out in front of the press and just kind of pour gasoline all over himself and light himself on fire. [ light laughter ] seth you havent seen it yet but i feel like were one more russian story away from sean spicer trying it as a diversionary tactic. [ laughter ] of course nunes is supposed to be investigating trump, not working with him. And whats worse, trump took nunes stunt as proof that he actually was wiretapped by the obama administration, a claim that has already been debunked repeatedly including by the fbi director. In fact just after nunes held his press conference last week, trump claimed hed been proven right telling time magazine, devin nunes had a news conference. Did you hear about this . Where they have a lot of information on tapping. Did you hear about that . A lot of information has just been learned. So that means im right. He just got this information. This was new information. If youre having trouble following that [ light laughter ] here is a condensed version. Ive got information, man. New [ bleep ] has come to light. [ cheers and applause ] seth you know, now that you think about it, the dude and trump have a lot in common. They both have bathrobes. [ light laughter ] both obsessed with their rugs. And they both love white russians. [ laughter ] [ audience ohs ] so nunes has been very cagey about where he got this information, with some speculating that it may have come from the white house to try to give trump cover for his false wiretapping claim. But the story only got weirder last week when details started to emerge about what nunes was doing the night before his wednesday press conference. It was tuesday night here in washington, dc when chairman nunes was riding in a car with a staff member. Thats when he got some type of message on his phone and abruptly got out of that car and into an uber. He then seemingly disappeared into the night. Seth what . [ laughter ] he got out of his car in the middle of the night and disappeared . This whole thing is starting to turn into an episode of dateline. [ laughter ] a congressmans phone tells him his uber is arriving now. But Something Else arrives first. Murder. [ laughter ] so nunes apparently disappeared from a car and didnt tell anyone where he was going. How could this story get any more bizarre . Well, now we know a little more about where nunes was earlier that day. Beginning with breaking news this hour about a mysterious night, something of a secret rendezvous that led to the controversial announcement that President Trumps Communications May have been intercepted. The republican in charge of the House Intelligence Committee, one Key Committee investigating the trump campaigns possible ties to russia, is now revealing he was on the white house grounds the day before his big announcement. Seth so he was on the white house grounds. Whats so suspicious about that . [ gasp ] the groundskeeper [ laughter ] on monday, nunes pushed back on all the criticisms and suggested that the Trump Administration wasnt aware he was on white house grounds the day before his press conference. Did you have other meetings at the white house . Did you meet with the president or any of his aides while you were there that night . No. And in fact im quite sure that people in the west wing had no idea that i was there. Seth thats actually the one thing about this story i do believe. That the Trump White House would have no idea who was on the premises at any given time. I bet the white house now is like the play boy mansion in the 70s. Its just a weird combo of clist celebrities and exotic animals. Hey shayla, scott baio just jumped in the pool with a boa constrictor. [ laughter ] and by the way, what could be so important, so explosive about these documents nunes saw that he had to switch cars and scramble around dc in the middle of the night to view them . Well right now no one really knows. But cnn reported yesterday that one gop source, who has been briefed on what nunes has seen, said these conversations were primarily among diplomats and was almost like the kind of trivia you would pick up in gossipy conversations about trump and what he was doing, such as where he was having dinner. So nunes has been running around dc like hes james bond just to find out where trump had dinner . That surveillance feed must have been pretty boring. Ill have the 12piece bucket, extra crispy, in fact it should be the same color as my skin. Thank you. [ laughter ] i hope i hope this isnt being tapped. Now all this bizarre behavior from nunes and his apparent interest in helping out the Trump Administration while supposedly conducting an independent investigation has led democrats in congress to call for nunes to recuse himself. Chairman nunes has compromised his ability to lead this investigation and he should step aside and let somebody else lead it. Representative nunes has created a real problem for himself with all of this unusual scurrying back and forth with the white house. Whatever it is hes done, it has been at the white house. It appears to have been in the service of the white house. Its bizarre. Its loopy. And jumping in and out of cars. You cant make this stuff up. If this was a movie, you would turn it off because you wouldnt believe its believable. Seth actually if it was a movie about this guy, then id definitely watch that. Steve carell stars as a bumbling congressman turned spy in the new comedy, high nunes. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] now, today today the committee was supposed to hold a hearing with former acting attorney general sally yates who played a key part in the investigation surrounding former National Security adviser michael flynn. But the Washington Post reported that the Trump Administration sought to block sally yates from testifying to congress on russia. And then nunes said he would not go forward with the public hearing. Today nunes was asked as he walked through the capital whether the white house had asked him to cancel the hearing and whether he could continue to run the investigation fairly, and to be honest, he seemed a little overwhelmed. Are you gonna stay as chairmen and run this investigation . Well, why would i not . Can this investigation continue with you as chairman . Why would it not . But theyre saying that it cannot run as you as chairmen. Youve got to go talk to them. That sounds like their problem now. Is the Trump Administration speak to have sally yates not testify before your committee . Look, you guys are just speculating. Im sorry, whenever theres time well do a press so did they ask you to cancel the hearing yesterday . Come on, guys. Seth come on, just i hate this so much, you guys. [ laughter ] its like, answer your question and then i walk and you keep following me and asking me more questions and i dont think my uber is ever going to show up. [ laughter ] and the white house is clearly growing frustrated with the mounting scrutiny over its russia ties. And today White House PressSecretary Sean Spicer tried unsuccessfully to push back. Youve got russia. Youve got youve got wiretapping. Youve got no, we have that. You you i dont investigations on capitol hill no, no, i get it. But you keep ive said it from the day that i got here until whenever that theres no connection. Youve got russia. If the president puts russian salad dressing on his salad tonight, somehow thats a russian connection. [ laughter ] seth of course the most suspicious thing about that scenario is the idea that trump would eat a salad. [ laughter ] i would like a salad, russian dressing, hold the lettuce, no vegetables. Put it in a bucket with 12 pieces of chicken. [ laughter ] [ cheers and applause ] now look, people deserve to know that congress is actually exercising serious oversight over the president and investigating his ties to russia. And nunes weird behavior is undermining confidence in that investigation. He disappeared in the middle of the night, called a press conference, and basically said this. New [ bleep ] has come to light. Seth this has been a closer look. [ cheers and applause ] well be right back with Scarlett Johansson, everybody. Im so happy when freds here, because it gives us a chance to catch up. But i will say, fred. I sometimes feel like you say things about your life because you want attention. Fred i dont think so. Seth okay, but i [ laughter ] well it always seems like you are kind of somethings in the news and you try to make it about yourself as well. And i feel like you dont have to do that. Were all very interested in the life you live. Fred thats coincidence. Seth okay. [ light laughter ] because i heard you backstage telling people that you think youve been wiretapped. Fred oh, definitely. [ laughter ] definitely. Seth yeah, you dont have to make this up. Fred it is for real. Okay, so, in my place, im just like walking around, you know, trying to make coffee. So, all of a sudden theres like theres a cable out of the back of the coffee machine. [ light laughter ] who knows where its going. [ laughter ] my charger for my phone going into another like just into like there are cables everywhere, seth. They are everywhere. Seth now are these youre sure these arent the plugs . [ laughter ] fred it could be the it could be. Seth okay. Fred but there are a lot of wires, is all im saying. Seth because i think like historically, when people wiretap, they dont leave the cables out, because that would defeat the purpose, because fred got it. Seth when you wiretap fred got it. Seth you want fred got it. Seth the person to not know fred got it. Seth that. Fred right. Seth youve been wiretapped. Fred that youve been wired. Gotcha. Yes, i see what youre saying now. But seth so now, you think they its likely that they are. Fred i still think that theyre trying to wiretap me. Seth okay. Fred im sure of it. Seth have you had embarrassing conversations, youre worried about them hearing . Fred its recipes. Seth oh, okay. [ light laughter ] fred i have very embarrassing recipes. Seth you have embarrassing recipes . Fred humiliating. Seth what makes an what makes a recipe embarrassing. Fred its mostly mustard. [ laughter ] seth give it up for fred armisen, everybody. Were so happy to have him here. [ cheers and applause ] our first guest tonight is Tony Award Winning actress you know from films such as lost in translation, her, and the avengers. Been good, how are you . Fred wow, good hi. Seth now, you grew up in new york. I did. Seth we were talking backstage. Yes. Seth and you were saying how much new york has changed. It has changed a lot. I mean, its always changing. I think thats the both the you know, the quality and tragedy of the city. Because you know you have like your favorite whatever shoe lace store, and suddenly its a starbucks. I feel like that you know its definitely seth its very hard to keep a shoe lace store open these days. [ laughter ] with the rents in new york, it turned out that one of the first things to go were the shoe laceries. [ laughter ] but heres my question, because you have a two and a half year old. I do, yes. Seth so shes going to obviously grow up and spend time in new york. Yeah. Seth and are you worried that youre going to turn into one of those people thats like, new yorks changed, it wasnt like this before. I already am one of those people. Seth youre already like that, yeah. Yes, i am. Im like a bitter old i dont know, shoe lace store owner. [ laughter ] seth yeah, you go into a starbucks, youre like, i dont want a coffee, i want shoelaces. I want ya laces [ laughter ] yeah, i know. No, i definitely you know, i think like certain neighborhoods are really just totally different. Like Greenwich Village is totally different. I actually went to school at ps 41, which is right on 11th street. And, you know, i just remember like it was very kind of i dont know, it felt sort of it did feel like villagey then. Seth yeah. There was a dirtiness to it. Well, i mean, it wasnt filthy dirty but like a little dirty, dirty, you know what i mean . Seth yeah. But now it feels really like its kind of chic and like seth mmhmm. Bobo, they say, i guess. I dont know. Seth theres i lived down there, and there was a sex store. Like that just sold like i miss that one. Seth i know, but it just the sex store seth but it just closed. I was like, how did this stay in business this long . It was me, yeah. Thats right. Seth they were like, if we cant get scarlett, to pay her tab, were gonna have to shut down. [ laughter ] yeah, i was crazy about that place. But yeah, what is it now . Seth its nothing now, they razed it, and i think they have to like i think there are like ghosts they have to get out of there and they can build Something Else. So this film what kind of ghosts . Seth sex ghosts. [ laughter ] a lot of people when they die, before they go to heaven, they have to work out all their sex stuff. Thats gross. [ laughter ] seth no, its interesting, its sad, actually, because theyre stuck in the place between the place between where . Seth living and heaven. And they just have to like, they have to like have sex with other ghosts. [ laughter ] its a long have you not . Its like right at the end of the bible. My gosh. [ laughter ] i never made it that far. Seth yeah, a lot of people dont, and then thats why they get them at the very end, its crazy, theres so much sex at the end. [ laughter and applause ] sure. [ cheers and applause ] im realizing that definitely wasnt the bible, i was reading. Oh, yeah, okay. [ laughter ] seth so this movie, the clip does not give any sense of how active you are in this film. Because thats no, i was lying down seth yeah. In that clip. Seth you were lying down in the clip. But this is you are, and i mean it as a compliment, kick ass in this film. Thanks, yeah i do a lot of movement. Seth a lot of movement, a lot of kicking. Kicking. And there are some asses also. Seth yeah, the asses that get kicked. And you have now avengers and films like this, are you does the stunt training is it Second Nature to you now . Well, some aspects of it. I mean you kind of like build this sort of physical vocabulary, i guess. I mean, i really know what a barrel roll is now. I never do that. Seth and have you have you brought kicking more into your life, your regular life . [ laughter ] yes . Seth yeah, i would imagine. No, i mean, i actually started recently taking a selfdefense class. Because i well actually its because i was giving an interview and the interviewer asked me if i could beat him up in the interview. It was such a weird interview. Seth yeah. And i was like, right now . Seth yeah. And he was like, yeah, could you beat me up . And i was like, i want to, but i dont know if i can. Seth yeah. And then like, on my walk home i was like, ive got to do something about this. Seth right. Just so i could like kick the ass of some misogynistic journalist. [ laughter ] but i started from yeah, i kind of made a promise to myself that i should not just know look like i know how to kick ass. But i probably should seth oh all right. Thats good. Well dont try to hit me, though. Seth no. I just started, so. Seth okay. Like a little fragile, still. Seth thats one of the first things they tell you in selfdefense class. Is you always want to let the attacker know where your level is. [ laughter ] so that they dont hit you with something that you cant handle. [ laughter ] i want to ask about this, because i feel like i am very familiar with your films and whatnot, but i had no idea that you were in a bob dylan music video. I yes, i was. Seth how did that come about . Well, my friend bennett miller. Seth guys a great director. Yeah, hes a great director and hes a just a very good friend of mine. And he i dont know how the video, the offer came to him to do this video. And originally he had this concept that dylan and i would kind of do this sort of like felliniesque like, zampano, like clowns on the street, kind of performance thing. Which sounded really cool. And so we were all prepped for that. And then like the day before, or the morning or whatever. Dylan was just like, i dont want to do that. Which i get totally, because it would have been kind of crazy. But i was really sad. And then so we kind of had to just figure out, you know, something to do. And so we kind of seth but you did the video without bob dylan . We did it without bob dylan, which was fine. And we, you know, did this kind of fun sort of fun nostalgic video together. Bennett and i. And then i met i didnt, i never heard from him at all. Which i was really bummed, you know, i was like, what the hell, bob dylan . Seth yeah. You know, i just seth i did all the work for you. I did all the work. Yeah, i was like, i really, you know, i spent hours emoting for him. And then and then i met him backstage at a concert at terminal 5. And yeah, he was kind of like, hes like [ as dylan ] oh, hey, you were in the video. Or whatever. Sorry, thats a bad dylan impression. Seth no its good. [ laughter ] i knew who it was right away. Thank you. So embarrassing. Youll cut that out later, right . Seth yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. And you know he was like, oh, hey, you were in the video. And i just did it again, im sorry. Seth well, its impossible to do bob dylan. And bob dylan came over and said, i just want to give you my sincerest thanks. [ light laughter ] yeah, so and then i thought he would Say Something like, wow, you know, we should have dinner sometime. And he was just like, that was cool, and then he just kind of passed on to the next person. And i was like, i felt sort of bad about it. Then i was like, no, its dylan, its cool. Seth yeah, youve got a bob dylan experience. Right, and as he passed me, his something on his lapel snagged my sweater and i kept that snagged sweater for like two years. Id be like, you see that, you see that hole right there . Yeah . Dylan. That was dylan. So dorky. Seth yeah. But yeah. Seth im going to go home and pull one of my sweaters, just on my own, and be like, dylan. [ light laughter ] thanks so much for being here, its always such a pleasure to see you. [ cheers and applause ] seth hi, guys. How are you . How are you . Awesome. Seth very good. Very happy to have you both here. Great to be here. Seth you talk about similar stuff to what i talk about in the morning. I do it at night. Mmhmm. Yeah. Seth 67 days. Is it what you expected, worse than what you expected, better than what you expected . Hmm. Its far worse. Seth far worse . Yeah. Yeah. Its almost yeah. Its almost at the point of no return. Seth beyond comprehension . Yes. Its dogs and cats living together. Seth yeah. Its as bad as it gets, to quote bill murray. No, i mean, its been shocking. Like, weve known the guy for 10, 11, 12 years. Seth mmhmm. And we never expected it to be quite this bad. Seth yeah. So seth you he recently you mentioned youve known him for ten years. Yeah. Seth you guys had a relationship with him, a friendly relationship, he came on the show. Well, yeah, i mean yeah. Seth you interacted with him not a physical relationship. Seth no, thats true. [ light laughter ] but we had a relationship. Seth you had a relationship. And a friendship. Friendship. We had a good friendship. Seth did you he recently unfollowed you both on twitter, was that harmful . Did that hurt you guys . It was actually a highlight a highlight of the month when he unfollowed us. I think it actually, in all seriousness, it shows that we got in his head. Seth and where what was the turning point . What was the moment because, you know, he watched your show. Right. Seth that was one of the shows he consumed. It seems like that has maybe changed. What was it that you said that made him no longer want him to be a morning joe viewer . Ive got to say, one of the things that upset him the most is when we went on the air and i just said in passing because people were saying, oh, you have trump on for higher ratings. I go, you know, at the beginning it was sort of an interesting thing, sort of a freak show. But as time went on, people knew the act. So i said, you know, Chris Christie and Bernie Sanders actually gets higher ratings than trump does. Seth yeah. He went crazy. Seth yeah, thats he doesnt want to hear that. Sent me a letter, had a spreadsheet, talked about how his ratings were higher than ours. [ laughter ] so so, mika said he needed, during the campaign, psychiatric help. He called theres nothing wrong with that. No, no we all need a little help. But i thought he needed a lot. Seth yeah. He really needed a lot of help. [ light laughter ] a lot of help and we attacked him. I mean, said he could start world war said all of these horrible things about him during the campaign. Said he was a racist, a bigot, every it all rolled right off his back. The second we said Chris Christie and Bernie Sanders outrated him, that was the end. [ laughter ] seth you actually kind of called this. In that you said, the issue with repealing obamacare will be that over the course of eight years, it is entrenched, it is a thing that exists now. And its very hard to take something away from people. You give that benefit, and it is tough. And the second it got passed, we both knew it was going to be hard to take it away. And it was, and it has been. Thats why its easy to talk about repealing it, but what are you going to replace it with . Its even tougher for trump, because the voters that helped him win wisconsin, michigan, ohio, and pennsylvania, theyre people that are on obamacare. A lot of em are. So a lot easier to talk about that and brag about that and say how youre going to repeal it and replace it. A lot tougher to do it. Seth so one of the things he seems to have in his rhetoric now is the idea that it will it will destroy itself on its own and then people will be happy to replace it explode. Seth itll explode. Do you think that is his way of saying, i am going to do everything in my power to hasten the demise of obamacare . Well, you know, interesting today, actually steve bannon came out and said that he was going to work with the house and they were going to repeal it. And then Mitch Mcconnell basically said, no, no, youre not. Seth yeah. And mitch i mean, you know, its very interesting. Mika and i both have been surprised by the people who we think in a time of crisis have actually stepped up. People who weve been really tough on in the past Mitch Mcconnell, john mccain, lindsey graham. These are Senate Republicans that have said, no, youre not going to question judicial review. Youre not going to call the press enemy of the people. So there are, there are a lot of people to be really disappointed with. But a guy like Mitch Mcconnell, i never expected that we would be looking at mitch going, okay, wait a second, hes not going to put up with trumps b. S. I never thought id be saying that. And hes not. Seth do you think well see more people like that if his Approval Rating stays at the 36 its at now . Does that give the republicans who maybe havent been prone to standing up to him a little bit more courage . Honestly, the fact that republicans are still sucking up to him at this point is kind of pathetic. The whole thing has turned into lies and misinformation, calling the news fake news, undermining the judiciary, undermining practically every branch of government. I dont care if youre a republican or a democrat, theres a right and theres wrong. Seth mmhmm. And this guy is wrong. [ cheers and applause ] and i think it helps and i do, i mean, i really think it helps when republicans stand up to him, and say, enoughs enough. I remember you said something early on, you said hes president , we need to, you know, respect him and lets hope it works out well. Its the same thing i said to a lot of my family and friends when barack obama got elected. I said, you know, you cant cheer against the president of the United States without cheering against the country. So i hope that donald trump becomes the donald trump that and well say it, that weve known privately. A guy thats a hell of a lot more gracious in private than this sort of Reality Tv Show president that he plays on tv. Because thats the thing, you talk to Hillary Clinton, you talk to nancy pelosi, you talk to chuck schumer, you talk to the biggest democrats that have known him for a long time, they will tell you off camera he can be a charming guy, he can be an engaging guy. And instead of like, for instance, we invite him you know, we used to invite him to our book parties. He never talked about himself. Hed come in and go, hey, Mika Brzezinskis book, knowing your value, the greatest book since the gutenberg bible. It is, by the way. [ light laughter ] seth you know he you know he didnt read it, right . Im just i dont want to break your heart. Thats okay. Its branding. Which makes it even but it is very interesting. We actually could tell a lot of stories about how this guy was genuinely kind very kind. Helped immigrants, actually, that mika knew. Did all of these things. But for some reason he cant show it on tv. Seth thats such a weird thing it is bizarre seth everybody else in show business are nice on television and then ass[ bleep ] behind the camera. Right. [ laughter ] seth and hes like, im going to let the public know im gonna switch it. Seth im gonna switch it up. You know, i always tell people the story that actually tells you what trump can be behind the scenes as long as youre not doing business deals with him, or you loan him money. Seth yeah. Other than those two areas. I remember one time saying, like, five years ago, you know, you got the nicest kids. And i judge people by their children, because that talks about their character. Seth sure. With nobody looking, behind closed doors, with nothing to gain by it, you goes, you know what . He said, anything that you see in my children thats good is because theyve got a great mom. Theyve got a tough mom. Theyve got somebody that raised them right. I owe that all to ivana. And i sat there, what an awesome guy. We were telling him that story about a month ago and he said, hey, thats a great story, ive got to remember that one. [ light laughter ] seth thank you both for being here. Seth thats fantastic. But it doesnt come this fast at the restaurant. No, you probably have to wait a few minutes to find a waiter. [ light laughter ] seth there you go. We have waiters all over the place seth its never the kitchens fault. It comes out very quickly because these are small plates and theyre meant to be shared. Seth its very simple and very wonderful.
