Well that roughly doubled from 2014 to 2015. Thats double the nearly 100 reports filed in 2014. We revealed every one of those formal transcripts dating back to 2013. They covered issues such as the jail environment, lack of appropriate medical care Prescription Medication and officer mistreatment of inmates. Since july 2013 there have been 22 different officer involved treatment related issues including specific allegations of official abuse. There are some things that concern me greatly of course. We caught up with sheriff smith after the auditors public live released their reports to the commission. You heard a lot about culture. What was your reaction to that . Give me a chance to really take a look at the report and everything. I heard a lot of disturbing things today. Does that start with you and your organization . The entire organization. We flup needed to be a lot of reforms. This man serves at a O Organization meant to advance the civil rights. It became this eclipsing issue that would keep coming up every week of a family saying im really concerned about my son or my loved one. Oo. We shared the Jail Observer Program. This idea that this is a new problem that had no history is it just a false narrative. I think the data here proves that come planets had been surfaced that they had been communicated. The county needs to take some serious considerations, looks into who they got running their james system. Shes not the right person to run this organization. Actually, i think shes running it into the ground. Now the sheriff dispults this and she and the count each also dispute allen as claims filed in his lawsuit. Sheriff smith did confirm to me that she and her administration knew about all this data and the complaints compiled by the Jail Observer Program dating back years. Shes said shes not sure why there has been an increase in the last few years, especially about officer treatment of inmates.
