Digging through 10 years of federal records we found reports of thousands of airplanes where the faa caught suspected unapproved parts or sups on the planes. One show they fraudulently put car parts on airplanes. A big no no for the faa. Bogus parts are a problem. Reporter of the 172 reports, 17 involved 17 domestic u. S. Carriers including alaska, jelt jetblue and u. S. Airways. There are cases like this one. An faa investigation that American Airlines had a quote lamp installed in their anticollision light assembles after knowing it was a suspected unapproved part. They said their mechanics quote removed the part as soon as it was practicable. Its going to fail. And you have a failure, its going to be a problem and could be a catastrophic one. Reporter in fact the National Transportation safety board investigators found unapproved parts caused 8 deaths and 20 injuries between 2006 and 2015.
