We had witnesses say it was about two seconds they had cracking to the time it hit the ground. So there wasnt a lot of time to react, and luckily theyre injuries arent too serious. Lathem is a professor at northwestern university. Pretrial hearings are expected to begin tomorrow in one of the most high profile cases in the area. Sanchez is accused of hitting, shooting and killing her. Sanchez is an undocumented immigrant and he allegedly stole the gun that was used from a federal agents car. On friday a judge was selected to preside over that trial. Hes been working in the San Francisco superior court for almost a decade. The murder trial will not only be watched closely here in San Francisco but also around the country as it touches off the debate over sanctuary cities. Another attack on a train involving a group of teenagers. Witnesses say a teenage girl used pepper spray and tried to rob one of the passengers. The passengers were not hurt. Police are still looking for that teenager. There have been similar cases of people robbing bart passengers in recent months. We first reported this last night. Investigators say the person who called 911 had broken english and was speaking spanish, giving dispatchers sort of broken information about the situation. First responders thought they were heading to a medical call and then it turned out the man inside the home was armed with a 12 inch knife. They tried to resolve it without violence but the man eventually threatened there police officers, and one of them opened fire, killing him. A team of 20 detectives were called into to investigate. An autopsy will take place tomorrow. And a dramatic truck theft in the east bay. The thief there ended up opening fire at the trucks owner. Experts warned that could cause another fire. Our particular unit is doing the best it can to assure that doesnt happen. Reporter hes heading up an agency thats been faulted for lax over sight of refineries. Today he says things are better at chevron in the 15 lefineries statewide thank tuesday more staff, new rules and an unprecedented inspection. Its a powerful tool for us when were looking at what refineries are doing and more importantly what theyre not doing. Reporter richmond mayor says he meet with chevron regularly to track progress at the refinery. It still has risks. Reporter but five years after the fire, michael is still paying for his own medical expenses. And since then it certainly has. This twoweek summer camp in oakland run by one of 11 black girl code chapters across the country, plus one in south africa, reaching 8,000 girls.
