You will have some spots where we dont see much rain at all. But it gets heavier through this evening. The bright yellows and reds show intense rain and the possibility of thunderstorms too. And it starts to make it into the north bay. Late tonight and early into the morning where we not see much rainfall accumulation in those areas. First of all, the weather is holding off here. The rain that was predicted has not come to treasure island. Thats a very good thing at this point. Behind me you see the new bridge and the old bridge. And the boxlike structure. Thats whats being taken down. So far the rain has held off. But moving a 2500 ton boxshaped truss is no easy feat. If the wind picks up or if the rains turn heavy, it could force a delay. Cal trans moved up the project due to the storm. Onto barges that took it to dismantli dismantling. Its a matter of assessing before it gets here whats going to happen. Reporter the bike path is closed from the oakland side. But cameras will provide Live Streaming video on the cal trans website. One thing environmentalists will be watching, birds. State protected comeerants. If your old home is still there, why would you leave it if youre quite comfortable . But about 200 of the birds didnt budge. Now cal trans must move as quickly as possible while maintaining its demolition schedule. That schedule also now includes the implosion of two more piers this fall. Similar to the implosion of a pier last november. Now, tomorrow cal trans wants boaters on the bay to stay away from this general area. The traffic on the bay bridge will continue both sides back and forth as normal. This shooting happened just before 10 00 yesterday morning. The Public HealthDepartment Says the Homeless Outreach team was trying to get a homeless woman to the doctor when they encountered another homeless man brandishing a knife. They called police. Responding officers say they fired bean bags at the man. But they had to use their guns when they say he lunged at them. It does conflict with what witnesses say. He puts up the thing showing it was not a knife. What was it . It was like a cake spraying tool. They start launching bean bags at him. He blocks it. He could only take so much. So he gets up and starts to run. We have been working very hard to try to figure out ways to contend to folks with etched weapons or other weapons. Protesters demanding reform in the department hit the street last night. This comes as the city considers arming some San FranciscoPolice Officers with tasers. The issue drew a packed house at the commission earlier this week. Proposed a limited Taser Program that would provide tasers to specifically trained officers. Chp is working hard to stop the violence that left drivers in the east bay feeling fearful. Since november, officers had investigated 16 freeway shootings in contra costa and alameda counties. Three are being investigated as homicides. They say all of those are gang related and none are random. Began targeting known members. Also increased patrols along the i80 corridor. Last week officers arrested one gang member in connection with the shooting on highway 4. A murder suicide on a Texas Air Force base. Authorities say two bodies were found inside a room at joint base san antonio lackland. Officials say the airman shot his squadron demander. There are yet no details about what led to the shooting. The air base was on lockdown but that has since been lifted. We are learning more about a deal that was worked out between Cal State University leaders and its teachers. Looking at the temperature, its 61 degrees in the east bay and south bay. 62 degrees in the peninsula and San Francisco. Lets drop in on the east bay where its 61 degrees in oakland. We will see the temperature slowly rising today. And if youre planning to head out to at t park for the giants game, it will be soggy at times. Turning now to a disturbing investigation in Contra Costa County where a dental assistant is accused of child molestation. We have just learned that two more alleged victims have come forward. Alejandro saro works at laquinika monument. An 8yearold girl came forward claiming she had been molested by him during a recent visit. Detectives went to his home and found hundreds of photos and videos revealing extensive abuse. Parents would be in the waiting room while he would bring them back to the exam room. And thats when he would do these disturbing acts. Concord police say saro documented himself assaulting many other young female patients. It may have also happened at his last job where he worked as a dental assistant. A palo alto man has been charged with four counts of murder in europe. Kevin dahlgren is accused of stabbing his aunt, uncle, and two cousins during a visit to the country in 2013. He is now awaiting trial. A man behind bars facing murder charges is now faces charges in another homicide. Santa clara county filed murder charges against balam gonzalez. He has been in jail since 2013 for a different killing. San Francisco City leaders want to strengthen the citys sanctuary law even after that came under fire. The man accused of killing steinly was supposed to be deported by federal authorities when the jail released him to the streets. Nbc bay areas Jodie Hernandez has more. No injuries in the incident but d. C. Police say one of their officers was recently struck. They made contact with his bike and dragged him. In fact, nearly 600 adults and more than a hundred children die each year in atvrelated accidents according to government data. It doesnt feel like spring just yet. This week if your kids were on spring breaking with it would have been a perfect day a couple days to go to the beach. But now it definitely feels like winter. Its hard to figure out what to do with the kids when you have rain off and on. You can see those low clouds over the top of the mountain. We are seeing low clouds, spot ji showers. At times it does take a break. It is chilly though. Close look at San Francisco as the rain starts to move over the Golden Gate Bridge and over towards san rafael. Much of it has been light though. Now the temperatures are in the low 60s. All across the bay area, 64 degrees in sanaraita. 63 downton. 63 in willow glen. If youre heading out to the giants game today, pack some rain gear and some warm clothes. Now, our temperatures will be in the upper 50s to low 60s. And combine that with the gusty winds, you know how windy it can get. Winds out of the west southwest at 20 miles an hour. Throw in some rain and it may be a little bit uncomfortable at times. But looking at all of our climates, low 70s in some spots. Our temperatures will be slightly warmer there in fairfield today looking at about 72 degrees in the trivalley. Upper 60s to low 70s there too. A look at the future cast. This is whats going on. We will continue to see the spotty showers moving in by early afternoon but not everyone will see the rain at the same time. But it does get a little bit more widespread and a little bit more intense this evening as we start to see those yellows and reds showing the potential of some thunderstorms along with some heavy downpours. That happening this evening. And then it starts to taper off into some lighter rain by early tomorrow morning. There will also be some breaks tomorrow afternoon. At any point you could see showers dropping down. On sunday, another chance of those showers is developing. Especially in the east bay as we go into the afternoon. So a lot of rain off and on. So the potential of rainfall looks like most of it will be from San Francisco over to oakland and then farther to the south where we will see a lot more rain. The possibility o at least an inch or an inch and a half. Then look how it drops off for the north bay. Santa rosa looking at. 05 inch. Not much going on in the north bay as well see in the south bay. Its because the system were dealing with is moving in from the south. A childs eyes are open but you cant wake them up until the episode is over. Its like a light bulb. And suddenly just goes, hi mommy and daddy. Reporter they say they panicked when their daughter had her first night terror. She was just 14 months old. It sounded very much like she was in pain. She would sit up and twist her body around. Reporter they tried waking her up before she would have the night terror. But sometimes it would be too late. Then they tried the sleep guardian. The vibrating device under the mattress and connected to an app that learns the childs sleep patterns. About 4 million americans suffer from these episodes. He says it helps by 80 . Abnormal sleep happens before the night terror occurs. If you can get the child out of that pattern, you can prevent it from happening. Dont stay up too late.
