Verona park police releasing this image of the car as it sped away. If you look carefully its a white sedan, possibly a toyota or honda. Police say the car and the driver were outside of a best western inn right there on redwood drive last saturday night. The Motel Manager and her son thought the driver looked suspicious, so they con front him. Thats when he tried to run them down. They thought that was going to be the end of the conversation and they began to walk away. The vehicle backed up, looked like it was going to maneuver to leave then suddenly accelerated rapidly forward and purposely struck the manager and her son. Police go on to say the car likely has front end damage. The Motel Manager is still in the hospital. Her son is okay. The sierra snow pack is dwindling. Today survey revealed el nino is not living up to expectations. January looked promising. We had plenty of rain and snow. All that started to melt in february due to clear and sunny conditions. Right now the sierra snow pack is 85 of normal for this time of the year. Chief meteorologist Jeff Rainieri joins us ho look at how drastically different this is from 2015. The good news is Going Forward the next 10 to 15day outlook across the sierra shows the potential of maybe two or at least three feet of snow. So that is great news. But when we get a look at conditions at least currently compared to 2015, despite the most recent snowfall melt we are still doing better. You can see a year ago today just 4. 9 inch average snow depth. We had snow across the sierra. But again it just wasnt super thick. Currently right at 16. 3 inch average depth. We have a water content of 5. 3 inches. So once again, its all about this changing weather pattern that still looks very promising to happen as well see not only one storm but possibly three to five storms as we head throughout the next ten days. A man swept out to sea near Half Moon Bay is still missing. Michael dwyer of brisbane hasnt been seen since yesterday. His family call authorities last night and said he went to dunes beach and never returned. The coast guard has been searching since yesterday afternoon. His Jeep Wrangler was found parked at nearby venice beach. Well, inside the courtroom the first day of a controversial wrongful death trial for four San Francisco police officers. Outside the courtroom, a vocal demonstration in support of alex nieto, the man who was shot dead. Nbc bay areas Mark Matthews has the details of this civil trial in San Francisco. Mark. Reporter it is a civil trial. Thats an important notation. These four officers dont face any criminal charges. But they could be held civilly liable for damages. This morning even before the jury was selected, a crowd of 150 rallied at the courthouse on behalf of the family of alex , nieto. Two years ago he was shot and killed by police in vernal heights park. Reporter apparently weve had some technical difficulty with the story. I can sum it up this way for you. The attorney for the nietos focused on 59 shots that were fired. Alex nieto was hit 14 times. But the four officers fired 59 shots. Some of them emptying their clip, reloading and firing again. The defense says, well, they felt that alex nieto was pointing a weapon at them and they are trained to fire until the quote unquote threat is neutralized. They felt that they had to take down this man who was pointing a gun at them. The gun turned out to be a taser. Alex nieto is dead. His parents suing the officers for damages claiming excessive unree Unreasonable Force and wrongful death. Thank you for that welldone explanation. She says he matters. That word today from the sister of michael tyree, the inmate found beaten to death in the santa clara jail. The deputies appeared in court today. On the second day of the preliminary hearing, juan perez whose cell was not far from tyrees took the stand. He told the judge he saw the defense enter tyrees cell. Moments later he heard tyree screaming for help before the cell block went silent. Tyree was never seen again. His sister described him as a kind man who suffered from mental illness. Michael tyree was loved and he mattered. It doesnt matter what these guys did to him. Nothing changes that. Tomorrow another inmate is expected to testify about being attacked by the same deputies on the very night that tyree was killed. If convicted, those deputies could face life in prison. Well, it is all clear at west vail college in saratoga. The tap puss evacuated today and all classes canceled after a bomb threat. Campus police say they found a handwritten note saying there was an explosive device in a specific building. That building was searched but nothing was found. Now that threat is under investigation. Reporter its been a big night for Hillary Clinton and for donald trump solidly securing their leads as front runners for each of their parties. That said its been a pretty bad night for marco rubio. Also rough for Bernie Sanders and ted cruz. Theyve only had a couple of wins. Lets break it down here. For Hillary Clinton were talking about South Carolina all over again. These have been landslide wins in six states now. Shes taken all of these states. By taking them we mean by 60 or more of the vote. Texas, tennessee, georgia, virginia, arkansas and also alabama. Theres only one state right now where sanders is keeping pace with clinton. Lets take a look at the numbers here. This is in massachusetts right now. 51 to 47 right now. So a fairly close race there in massachusetts, which by the way saw record turnout today at the polls just a narrow lead there for Hillary Clinton. Taking a look at how donald trump is holding up five states right now. Clear gop frontrunner. Alabama, massachusetts, georgia, virginia and arkansas for him. We have yet to see a single lead in the polls for marco rubio tonight. A single win there for him. Lets look at arkansas here where rubio is neck and neck in the polls with donald trump. This is really the one state that we are watching closely to see if theres any sort of chance there for rubio. Back to Bernie Sanders though and ted cruz. You could call them both second place winners tonight. The silver medallist sanders won his home state of vermont which was expected. Cruz also his home state of texas. And the board says that they are deciding on whether the Chabot Gun Club in Castro Valley would get a sixmonth lease and extension before shutting it down for good. The parks district says the range on public park land is violating state lead regulations, specifically they say that the lead from spent ammunition is polluting streams and soil. That result from the latest Indoor Air Quality testing on some floors at epa headquarters in San Francisco. Last week the nbc bay area Investigative Unit first reported on the elevated levels of the chemicals formaldehyde and caprolactin. A survey found that nearly 100 employees reported feeling sick after working in the building. The latest testing conducted by an independent contractor on february 8th found the chemical levels increased on five floors ranging anywhere from 10 to nearly double. The epa spokesperson acknowledges that more work needs to be done and says the agency is working with the building manager and the gsa to adjust the ventilation. Apple against the fbi.
