Officials of louisiana called it an ambush carried out, police say, by a lone gunman gavin eugene on his birthday. Its unjustified. Its unjustifiable. The violence, the hatred has to stop. They had hoped that perhaps he was in a hospital in france being treated for his injuries and just wasnt able to alert people to his whereabouts. His father planned a trip to france but then came confirmation he was one of 84 People Killed when a man drove a large truck through a large crowd of people celebrating bass ste bastille day. He was in france as a part of fourweek Study Abroad Program with 84 other students. He was described as talented and kind. Hes the second cal student to be murdered this month. He was in the same truck, apparently scouting out the future route in his van. Authorities also took another man and woman in custody for questioning. An etay fic anpoledoareecorinthd an east Bay Police Officer and police dog are recovering this morning after a wild chase on saturday night. Youre looking at video of the aftermath in walnut creek. Two smashed cars, including the police cruiser. Police say it started as a hitandrun crash in which two people were injured. Once Police Caught up with the suspect they say the suspect rammed the patrol car. Police used taserers, a police dog, and a bean bag to catch the suspect. Officers did eventually arrest him but not before he stabbed a canine several times. One officer was hurt and expected to recover. Police identified the driver as 33yearold gonzalez of walnut kree creek. Hes in the hospital facing felony charges. The name of the dog is shana. Here is a picture of her at a fundraiser last year. Sh her and her handler do demonstrations. Shes expected to make a full recovery. A Historic Ceremony in the east bay lead to a big surprise for the countrys oldest park ranger. But then High Pressure across the southwest gradually starts to build into the bay area. And that will cause our temperatures to warm up. So as we look at the sevenday forecast for the city, we will be at 65 degrees and seeing those temperatures going up near 70 degrees by the end of the weekend. For the inland areas expect the highs in the upper 70s for the next couple of days and look at the end of the forecast well see some of the highs reaching the 90s. So ill talk about that coming up.
