A large rightwing rally is planned tomorrow at crissy field and several counter rallies are also in the works. There will be several counterprotests to this prayer rally set to take place tomorrow afternoon at crissy field. Some of those are starting as early as today. One at city hall at about 12 p. M. All hands on deck dealing with this rally that will take place at crissy field. Theyre going to fence off a part of the park for those taking part in the rally. The office of Emergency Services will be activated in case anything gets out of hand. The public defender and staff serving what theyre calling illegal observers for protesters who may need assistance. The Public Defenders Office wants to remind folks to express themselves but to do so in a safe way. Express yourself but dont get physical with anyone. You have one group raising thousands of to float this 33foot inflatable trump chicken on a yacht in the bay. A chicken for not releasing his tax returns. Theyre going to start with a flag run with drivers and bikers and will have to take with their bikes and cars. The rally at crissy field is set to start tomorrow at 2 00 p. M. Pete suratos for today in the bay. Hopefully everything will remain peaceful. We have compiled a list of items youre not allowed to take to the rally. This includes weapons, selfie sticks, helmets and coolers. Bay area port workers in San Francisco and as a result the union says there will be an all day work stoppage at bay area ports. This will be the unions third planned oneday work stoppage this year. And live now where you can expect to see some changes tomorrow because of that altright rally. On the San Francisco side where that rally is scheduled, the sidewalks will be open. In berkeley they expect thousands to march in the streets. The city has1ogn a permit for an antimarxism rally but the mayor expects people to show up anyway. The police chief told people in the community his goal is to keep the peace. We want to be ready to scale up or down our approach to manage whatever comes our way. And counterprotesters will likely confront demonstrators at civic center park. Of course this all follows the deadly violence and demonstration in charlottesville earlier this month and a security measure berkeley is removing a number of mailboxes. Reporter churning across the gulf of mexico Hurricane Harvey has texas in its sights and officials in emergency mode. The only thing predictable about the storm is its unpredictable. Reporter a state of emergency in 30 counties ahead of harveys arrival as residents shored up their homes and stockpiled supplies. So i got four things of water and formula for the baby. And some canned chili to see how far we can make it. Reporter texas hasnt seen a major hurricane since 2008 when hurricane ike killed more than 20 people across several states and caused billions of dollars in damage. Forecasters caution harvey brings with it the potential for more mass devastation including widespread flooding. Harvey could stalin land for days, something more than two feet of rain in overly saturated areas. Its going to be a dangerous storm that has the potential to have catastrophic impacts. Reporter and while harvey is likely days away from impacting new orleans, Emergency Managers are scrambling to get turbines and pumps down for repairs back on line to handle expected floodwaters. Officials urging those in neighboring counties to prepare. Were seeing the effects of that in stores. Its difficult to find fuel, bottled water flashlights. Do stay safe. Just yesterday morning the topical Tropical Storm hunters went out there and weve seen this explosive manner on this system that has developed as it continues to move closer to the Corpus Christi area. If you have family in central texas, along the coastline, give them a call. Make sure they have everything they need to evacuate. We are still going to see this getting Even Stronger over the next couple of days before it makes landfall as the possibility of a category 3 which means wind speeds will be over 120 miles an hour. By late tonight it looks like it will be inland and still by tomorrow through the afternoon could be a category 1 and theres the potential this could just sit in the same area or may move back out into the gulf of mexico and intensify once again. It needs that very warm water to become stronger and you may see that even into next week. So this will be a potentially dangerous situation for everyone in this area covered in yellow. Thats where we could see anywhere from 10 to 20 inches of rain and maybe even more in a few isolated spots. So this is something well continue to monitor over the next couple of days. As we look at our forecast here in the bay area we are going to see temperatures today just a little bit warmer, up to 89 degrees today in gilroy and the sevenday forecast at the bottom of the screen looking at low 90s in con and livermore today and in fremont expect a high of 81 degrees. 75 in san mateo as we understand nice comfortable weather there. San francisco will get more clearing today and highs in the north bay up to 85 degrees. The Oakland Fire Department is holding a Memorial Service honoring one of its firefighters who you might recall was shot and killed in san jose. 30yearold jake walter was killed in japantown after going to a music festival. This man was arrested, oliver juneau, for that shooting. They say the entire ordeal was caught by surveillance camera. The motive is still not clear. The Memorial Service is planned for the oakland scottish right center. Crime in dolores park with many incidents happening in broad daylight. Five teenagers were arrested after trying to steal a bike. The victim ended up stealing the suspect. The was not seriously hurt. Earlier this month three people were injured in a shooting during a gay pride incident in june. A fight erupted in the park where a man was stabbed and a woman hit in the head with a bottle. In may a group of young men attacked and stabbed another man. And there are other shootings that happened in february. A large group of skateboarders took over dolores street and started skateboarding down the hill. After all these incidents sfpd announced they will patrol the park on foot every day. Well start to get warm through the afternoon with highs reaching into the low 80s, mostly sunny skies, bring some bottles of water and the festival of the arts in palo alto will be happening on saturday and sunday as well from 10 00 to 6 00 and for that we will have some temperatures starting out at 70 degrees in the morning and then rising into the upper 70s and may hit that 79 to 80 degree mark for the. And its really going to be hot out there at san jose state. The first home game at spartan stadium, check out these temperatures. 93 degrees at the start of the game. It will slowly make it into the upper 80s. Make sure you have your own shade, a hat or something to try to give you a little bit of relief. It starts out with a parade and will be at 80 degrees. Well show you how these options haved. Hurricane harvey is picking up strength as weve been talking about this morning. This is a live look at Corpus Christi where folks are preparing for the worst. The cameraing around way more than it was even just an hour and a half ago. Right now harvey is a category 2 hurricane. Forecasters say it will intensify by the time it makes landfall later today and early tomorrow. It could be the biggest storm to make landfall in the u. S. In more than a decade and certainly since katrina. The Corpus Christi area appears to be in the storms direct path. The city could see very strong winds plus a powerful storm surge as well. San antonio, austin, and the fourth largest city in the country, houston, further back from the water, could get about two feet of rain. The governor of texas already declared a state of emergency for 30 texas counties. That lieutenant said when officers showed up found the driver sitting on the curb talking with witnesses. The driver was only suffered minor injuries and is being checked out at the hospital. Police are working right now to figure out what led up to the crash. New this morning the woman at the center of an east bay sexual that rocked several Law Enforcement agencies is filing a new civil suit. The woman claimed to have sex with a number of Police Officers including some when she was under age. Her attorneys are now filing a claim. This follows a suit filed last week against richmond police. Previously she settled a claim against oakland for 1 million. An arrest warrant issued in a frightening attack. Police are looking for the man you see here on your screen. The woman screamed, got the attention of neighbors and that suspect took off. B. A. R. T. Riders are told to be cautious because investigators believe that suspect traveled to el cerrito on b. A. R. T. His last known address was in San Francisco. And universal health care. State senators inmates approved the healthy california act, would replace with a single payer system.
