Reporter Winning Tickets were also sold in florida and tennessee meaning the big payoff will at least be split three ways. California state lottery officials plan to head to the 7 eleven in chino hills today hoping that the states winner comes forward. And frank and michelle, theres another big winner here this morning. This is a chevron station at 404 so cal avenue. Workers didnt know the store sold the Winning Ticket until we told them last night. And a store in vacaville sold the Winning Ticket. Purchase happened at a 7eleven on nut tree road. Other Winning Tickets were sold at lark field union on old redwood highway in santa rosa and quick stop on north cloverdale boulevard in cloverdale. Each one is worth just over 138,000. Each ticket is worth just over 638,000. We had a few winners. Last night, i bought my ticket at 7eleven but not in chino hills. Not in vacaville. That game starts at 7 30. So 880 will be busy as you work your way through there. Probably just after 5 00. Today bart officials responsible for maintaining security will face tough questions from the board of directors following a deadly shooting saturday and information from our own sources that many cameras on the trains are fake. Kpix 5s anne makovec is at the west oakland bart station where still photographs of the suspect were taken right after the shooting. Anne. Reporter there are some pictures so we do know that some of the cameras here at this station are functioning. Lets take a look at those photos showing the suspect in saturdays murder show him leaving the west oakland station right after the shooting. He is accused of opening fire on a man right as the train doors were opening and then taking off on foot. He is described as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s, 62, scruffy face, long green trench coat over a dark hooded sweatshirt. Now, the shooter and the victims had been riding on the train heading westbound to the San Francisco airport. Cell phone video taken afterward by a stunned passenger. This all happened at 7 45 on saturday night. Now bart police are facing tough questions about their security protocol. We have a number of bart personnel assigned to patrol every couple of stations. Along with, we have pay special team funded by the federal government. As far as which ones are on the trains, platforms and stations, thats security information im not willing to give out. Reporter we do see what appear to be cameras in every train but some of those cameras might be fake just for show. Those are going to be some of the questions asked by the bart board of directors at their meeting today. As for the victim in this case, he is not identified. Anne makovec, kpix 5. Today the San Francisco Planning Commission will discuss a proposal to place temporary controls on a development in the mission district. In july the Commission Voted to allow that development to move forward despite heated opposition. Many residents say the property will displace residents because of rent hikes. The meeting starts at noon at San Francisco city hall. Today uber may be hit with a fine by state regulators. An Administrative Law judge says uber should pay more than 7 million for failing to meet reporting requirements. The state puck had requested the data to see if uber provides trips to all neighborhoods or if it discriminates in how it offers rides. The puc will vote today. Amazon is setting up shop on the ucberkeley campus. Starting today, Amazon Students and prime members can get free same day pickup on over 2 million items at the Amazon Student union. Its in lower sproul hall but theres one catch. Same day pickup only applies when orders are placed by noon. Reporter a group called the San Francisco restoration Bay Authority says if we dont do anything, by the end of this century, much of the bay shoreline including this spot right here could be threatened by rising sea levels. Its happening already with the king tides that floods local streets especially during heavy rain. The authority says this king tide will be an everyday occurrence by the year 2030. Thats just 14 years from now. And so the authority is going to the voters in all nine bay area counties. The first time its ever been done. And this june they will be asking for a 12 annual parcel tax on the ballot to try to raise half a billion dollars over 20 years to be used to fortify levees, restore wetlands and build floodplains to protect the shore. The areas in red show 200 square miles of shoreline that will face flooding if the bay rises by 56 which the authority calculates will happen by the year 2100. Here senator Dianne Feinstein appearing in a Public Service announcement released by the authority recently. Hundreds of thousands of hopes are at risk of flooding. Our airports, freeways, infrastructure, is going to be threatened. Headquarters of Tech Companies the lifeblood of our regional economy, will be forced to relocate. And our Natural Resources could be drastically altered. Reporter and the vote is on the june not the November Ballot and it faces a tough hurdle to pass. It needs a twothirds majority. The combination of all the votes and all nine bay area counties to pass. In alviso, kiet do, kpix 5. The mayor of San Francisco says he still hopes to tear down a portion of interstate 280. Ed lees proposal would end the freeway at mariposa street. Everything north of there would be demolished including ramps connecting the freeway with king and sixth streets. Lee says the demolition would clear the way for more development. He told kpix 5s phil matier he would also like to move the nearby caltrain tracks underground. That stretch of 280 is often congested. Lee hopes its removal would convince people to drive cars less. Time for traffic now. 5 16 on a thursday. Lets check in with gianna. Were doing all right. So far no delays exiting off king street. 101 in and out of San Francisco, your drive times through there if you plan on taking 280 north from 380 to 101, the james lick freeway, that will take 10 minutes this morning. Moving nicely in and out of San Francisco. Same for marin county. Havent had any major snags. At least a portion of 101 southbound as you head between 580 and the Golden Gate Bridge toll plaza, thats an easy 14 minute ride. Bay bridge metering lights are off. We are seeing more cars on the roads but so far no delays just yet. Traffic very light off the eastshore freeway out of the maze. 19 minutes. If you are coming off 80 from the carquinez bridge to the maze and no delays across the upper deck into San Francisco. Same for the san mateo bridge. Its quiet this morning across the span. Heads up though. Tonight 880 might get a bit busy for the lakers visiting the Golden State Warriors at oracle. That gets rolling at 7 30. Expect busy conditions there. So far though 880 both directions look good along the nimitz freeway near the coliseum. Of course, we are seeing a few brake lights westbound 580. Mostly out of tracy. But once you get to the top of the pass things are clear all the way to the dublin interchange. It will only take you 16 minutes. More importantly right now the roads are dry. Time now 5 33. New this morning, a man fell to his death in a cemetery after running from alameda sheriffs deputies. Deputies say they tried to pull over a suspected stolen car around 12 30 a. M. The driver tried to run away. Deputies say the fatal accident happened when he climbed a fence and fell 30 feet hitting the ground. Its being touted as a regional effort to prevent flooding in the bay area. Voters in all nine counties will decide on a new parcel tax to pay for it. Its life care. Francisco drug store armed police are trying to find a man they dub the makeup bandit because he went into a San Francisco drugstore armed with a knife and stole cosmetics. Police posted this video on youtube hoping someone might recognize him. The robbery happened the morning of december 18th at a walgreens on chestnut street. Investigators say the man threatened workers with a knife as they tried to stop him. Only on 5, a bicyclist claims he was beaten by San Francisco police. Some viewers may find these images disturbing. This is cell phone video of the incident that happened january 3 when an officer pulled donovan reid over for talking on his cell phone while riding his bike. The situation appeared to escalate after reid says he didnt have his drivers license. Rushed me grabbed my shirt collar and start punching me in the stomach and my legs were being held and beaten. Reid says he believed the officers involved should be fired. The internal Affairs Division is investigating. They have told the office of citizen complaints. A bay area plumber being rescued is speaking about his experience. Rojelio esparza was working on a sewer when the ground collapsed. They worked for 13 hours to free him from the mud and debri esparza saying he is grateful to be alive. [ speaking spanish ] i cant. I dont have words to repay what they did for me because they would never be adequate. I thank god they got me out. Thats all. Thanks to them and god. Rojelio credits his smartphone for keeping him calm during the ordeal. Since his arms were free he played games to distract himself during the 13 hour ordeal. Very sad news just in this morning. Legendary bay area broadcaster al hart has died. Hart was with kcbs radio in San Francisco for 34 years before retiring in 2000. He worked for many years with the late Dave Mcelhatton who later became a longtime anchor of course right here on channel 5. Harts voice was instantly recognizable. His family says he died in hospice care in walnut creek early this morning. Al hart dead at the age of 88. A park in San Francisco will stay closed a little longer than planned. The south side of dolores park has been closed for a 20 million renovation. But todays reopening event has been postponed because of a rainy forecast. So far theres no new date announced for the reopening. We got a little bit of rain coming in after the noontime. Around lunchtime in the afternoon and the east bay during the evening commute. So you will have a mess later today. A tough commute home. But right now not bad. We have a couple of things but its been easy so far. Northbound 280 right at saratoga. A multivehicle accident possible spectator slowing. 280 out of the south bay not too bad. We are seeing yellow on our sensors along 101 northbound out of san jose. We are 14 minutes northbound 101, 280 680 to 237. Again 280 despite that accident not seeing any delays yet. So far, so good on guadalupe parkway. Tonight sharks at the tank. They are taking on edmonton. That starts at 7 30. So you will see delays around downtown san jose. Bay bridge metering lights are on. Youre backed up almost to the maze at this point. Lets just say the foot of the maze right now. So far your approach off the eastshore freeway still very quiet. And quiet conditions along the san mateo bridge. We havent seen any troubles this morning between 880 and 101. And the Golden Gate Bridge looks pretty good. Its an easy ride southbound 101, 580 towards the pay gates. That will take about 14 minutes right now. We are seeing a few brake lights westbound 4 as you head through antioch. Looks like things are bogging down a bit. A bay area daredevil died this week doing what he loved, base jumping. 29yearold Matthew Kenny was an experienced wingsuit flyer from santa cruz. Kenny had even done tv interviews about the thrill that comes with base jumping. The accident happened tuesday in a remote wilderness area near the arizona utah border. The sheriff says he slammed into a wall about 600 feet down from where he jumped. His death is the first linked to base jumping in the area known as the Arizona Strip district according to a blm spokesman. As drones rapidly become more common, lawmakers are rushing to come up with ways to regulate them. One proposal comes from a state assemblyman mike gotto. The los angeles democrat is calling for all drones to be registered and insured. It would require small license plates on all drones as well as gps and automatic shutoff features to keep them away from airports.
