San mateo bridge from hayward to foster city, youre moving for about a 14minute drive there but i can see traffic starting to slow down. Theres a high wind advisory across the span into the peninsula. Now, into belmont that crash, southbound 101 before ralston avenue a solo car crash and a spinout and it has an interesting series of events here so its the solo car crash spinout happened sideways in the left lane. Chp a lot of responses to this because the lights were out on the car so it was very dark out there. Could have been a very dangerous situation and to avoid a second accident fire crews made it there on time to light up the area and protect the vehicles. So chp made it on scene and says the vehicle is damaged, everyone is okay and they are clearing it. If you are heading out into the south bay youre looking good on 101, 280 and 87. Thats your traffic. Ill send it to you. All right, roqui. Thank you. The storm is causing some problems for drivers. Right now, a road in San Francisco is closed because of a possible rockslide. With president obama walking out of the white house tomorrow now is a good time to think about the economy under his watch. Cbs News Business analyst Jill Schlesinger is here to explain with her analysis. So lets start with jobs. Growth and jobs. How do he do . Reporter well, if you look at growth we measure that with gross domestic product. And if you look back to 2009, we sank by an annualized 2. 8 . That was a rotten year. Now, there was progress from that low point. But there is truth that the pace of the recovery that we have seen, about 2. 1 annual growth under the two obama administrations, that has been slower than the average of about 3 which we have seen over the past 50 years. On the labor front, in january, 2009, the economy lost 741,000 jobs. The Unemployment Rate was 7. 8 . It was on its way up to 10 . Since the market bottomed out in 2010, the economy has added more than 15 million new positions. The Unemployment Rate is now 4. 7 . Of course, there are still problems in the labor market. The broader unemployment raid is higher than it was before the recession. Too many people have left the labor force. Incomes are not where they were 15 years ago. But i think that analysis of this has to consider the depth of that recession and really come to the bottom line that we have come a long way. Theres been great progress. Jill, what about the stock market and housing in this country . Well, if you look at the close of trading, the day that obama was inaugurated in 2009, the dow was at 7949. Two months later it closed at a 12year low of just over 6500. Now we are close to 20,000. Thats about a 250 total return. So stock investors have done phenomenally well over the last eight years. Housing . Not quite as good. Of course, it was the center of the financial crisis. It has been slower to recover. Remember, house prize peaked in 2006. They bottomed out in early 2012. Now i know the bay area is different. From talking about national numbers, okay, nationally prices have climbed above the previous peak. But when you adjust for inflation, National Prices are 15 below the bubble peak. So i think spottier record when it comes to housing. For more on the obama economic legacy including the administrations bailout and stimulus scorecards, go to jillonmoney. Com. Definitely right about that. The bay area being an anomaly in terms of housing prices. Jill schlesinger this morning, jill, thank you. 5 43 right now. [ music ] this man on a freeway had drivers confused.
