The suspects identity hasnt been released by police. He is undergoing a psychiatric evaluation. A 100,000 heist caught on camera. Now San Francisco police need your help finding the crooks. It happened october 17 in a residential building on channel street in the citys soma neighborhood near at t park in the afternoon. It shows three men working their way through the apartment going from room to room looking for expensive goods. You can see them packing computers and other electronics into a bag on the floor. The whole thing lasted several minutes. The guys eventually walk out of the bedroom with bags in tow before going right back out the front door. Tech shuttling are crowding San Francisco streets. There are traffic tangles with muni buses and a rise in rents where there are stops. A solution is in the works. Kpix 5s Jessica Flores tells us what the San Francisco board of supervisors have in mind. Reporter campos likes the idea of a dozen tech shuttle hubs around the city. He says residents have been complaining that tech shuttles are crowding residential streets. Even if it means you have to take a bus to get to that or, you know, walk a little bit farther. Its part of, you know, what it means to be a good socially responsible citizen. Reporter but according to a new sfmta study moving hundreds of stops around the city into central locations would lead to tech workers opting to just drive to work. It would probably add more cars to the streets and less people taking the shuttle and less safe with more cars on the road. Reporter the board reviewed the study today. It finds under the plan, tech workers car usage would increase by 24 to 45 . I i would hope that that its not as bad as as its projected. That to the worker who is, you know, going to be inconvenienced, because they have to walk farther go parter to catch the shuttles, that i would still hope they dont drive. No decision until next year. But for now, they say the Pilot Program in which they have issued citations to shuttles on restricted streets is working. Sfmta says theres a 91 decrease in the number of shuttles operating on restricted streets. We dont have control on whether or not they can operate in San Francisco but we can regulate how they use our streets. Reporter in San Francisco, Jessica Flores, kpix 5. And were following breaking news out of southern california. Crews are battling a refinery fire in torrance. Youre looking at live pictures now coming from the Torrance Refinery Company facility. They are pouring water obviously on what looks to be some piping at this refinery. The crews have been on the scene dousing the flames for an hour. It appears the flames were coming out of some sort of a supply line. No injuries have been report there. And theres no word yet on the cause of the fire. People protested the Dakota Access pipeline in San Francisco. The demonstrations lasted for five hours. At one point the protestors shut down market street. Some sat in the middle of the road while others linked arms. It was just one of 200 protests around the country. This all comes after the 3. 7 billion dakota pipeline was approved this summer. It is set to run through five states including the dakotas. Protestors say it is harmful to the environment. I do not believe what were doing is right. I do not believe i cant believe obama hasnt finished this already. During the demonstration, oaklandbased musician michael [ indiscernible ] gave a performance. [ music ] he sang east to the west as protestors cheered him on. He says he took part in support of the Standing Rock sioux tribe that relies on the lake and river for drinking water. The pipeline is raising environmental concerns. Still ahead, an unusual discovery under a bay area bar. The piece of gold rush history they just unearthed. This morning fishing crews were up before the sun even came out. They are hoping to financially recover after last season. You remember it was delayed for several months after Dangerous Levels of domoic acid was found in the crabmeat but now, things are looking up. Feel great. Glad everything is on time. Hopes are up. Right out of the pot, thats it. Sweet enough, doesnt need anything else. Hm. Many fishermen we spoke to think the crab will price out betweenup to 4. 50 so vendors selling it for about 8 a pound. United announced today its starting selling a new kind of low cost ticket. Kpix 5s veronica de la cruz on what passengers will get and what they wont. Reporter the fares are lower and forget about perks. United airlines is launching basic economy service. It promises cheaper tickets but with significant restrictions. Its one of these perfect examples of you get what you pay for. Reporter travel analyst henry says the restrictions include limiting passengers to just one carry on that must fit under their seat. No using the overhead bin. No advanced seat assignments. No changing your tickets once its been finalized. No matter what. You trade off a lot of convenience and control for some additional savings. Reporter delta started a similar strippeddown Program Last Year also called basic economy. Its only available on some flights and routes usually ones that tend not to sell out. New at 5 00, a condo is going up to one of the oldest bars on the west coast. It was built on top of a spot where ships anchored during the gold rush before it was all filled in. During construction, crews struck part of a sunken ship. John ramos has the story. Reporter the old ship saloon on pacific street is one of the oldest buildings in San Francisco. Legend said it may sitted above the remains of a clipper ship called the arkansas. So in september, when developers began clearing the land next door to build condos, they called in archeologists to dig around. Sort of like fact and fantasy but we had a lot of information to justify really looking for it during our testing. Reporter they hit paydirt. Or in this case, wood. They found a large timber called a false keel that once protected the bottom of the ship. The mystery of the arkansas had been solved. But how it got here is vintage San Francisco. When gold was discovered in 1849, the citys population increased by 25 times in one year. There is a lot of sort of, um, ramshackle structures in the beginning and reporter so all the ships in the harbor were real estate it was converted into a store and saloon and eventually as the city grew the area of the harbor was filled in with the old ships buried where they sat. But since the soggy timber has been in wet mud for 150 years and would have crumbled in the dry air, the developer returned it to its watery grave with unanswered questions. It may be solved by future archeologists if the site is redeveloped. Its still there. You know . [ laughter ] in another 100 years, right . Yeah. Yeah.
