Do students want to pay more money for sports or do they simply say, no . And then sports could potentially be gone. The ucsanta cruz banana slugs arent known for their athletic prowess but they could be known as the first school in the uc system to do away with its athletics departmental together. These are tis when the university has to make hard choices and athletics is one of the hard choices. We are here to educate students to provide them with Research Opportunities and to serve the state and athletics isnt core to that mission right now. It depends on hasnt determined what that student fee would be. It depends on whether the opinion poll says yes, go forward. They voted on this last year. 60 40 saying no way were not paying. Those fees were going to go from what they are now which is 15 a year to 117 a year. What those numbers are going to be if they vote yes has yet to be determined. After four years of lawsuits, the fight over san joses measure b appears to be over. Back in 2012, 70 of voters approved the measure that would have reformed the citys pension plan requiring workers to contribute up to 50 of their retirement costs. But union sued the city and in turn the city backed away from measure b, and today a judge ruled that san jose can resolve the pension debate by reaching a settlement with the unions. The judge as of today said measure b tentatively is gone and done with. That really paves the way for rebuilding this police department, making us competitive and starting to for the first time add Police Officers, something we havent been able to do in many, many years. San jose will now move ahead with a new pension reform plan negotiated with the citys unions. People are riding around in a car thats a ticking time bomb. Reporter rosemary shah han of consumers for Auto Reliability and safety says the repairs arent being made quick enough because takata cant keep up. Bay area drivers just began getting their notices in the mail in the last few days for the february recall. This letter obtained by kpix 5 from a honda fit owner sent by a honda dealership explains the parts wont come until this summer and that honda dealerships are offering to give customers a rental car to drive in the meantime. Thats a very positive thing that honda is doing offering loans. We are definitely encouraging consumers to take them up on that. Reporter one bay area honda dealership told kpix 5 the first wave of parts from the february recall should arrive in the bay area by friday. A total of 35,000 will be shipped throughout the u. S. And they expect to get a majority of the nearly 200 affected customers out of rental cars back into their hondas but some affected customers arent getting replacements at all. A potentially deadly mistake, says rosemary. What happens is that the metal fragments spew out into the car and they are blinding people. Reporter and rosemary says if you do get a loaner car make sure its not part of any other safety recall. She says she has seen some instances of that but she wouldnt say which car brand or car rental company. Maria medina, kpix 5. Caltrans is trying to solve another bay bridge problem. Reporter taggers are definitely getting more aggressive here in san jose both in the number and the size of their tags and also how they deal with anyone who may try to get in their way. Tagging has always been an eyesore but it became downright dangerous for eva alonso. They put stitches in my elbow. Reporter alonso says she was savagely attacked by two men actively tagging this wall near her homeless camp on the sidewalk of north 5th street. The reason . Because the tagging. I attempted to stop them. I got involved. I didnt think it was that big a deal. Reporter the taggers hit her multiple teams with a lock attached to a rope. She intervened partly for selfish reasons. She didnt want to get blamed for the mess and be forced to move. Made them mad i guess that i had the nerve to tell them not to do what they do. Reporter turns out, taggers were running rampant. Two hours earlier at city hall the walls around the main plaza were hit for the fourth straight week and across the street at 4th street pizza, fresh tags covered the length of two buildings. The largest tag we have ever had. Reporter the owner is frustrated there seems to be no stopping it. Definitely aggressive. And for nobody to see it at that time of night seems impossible. Reporter surveillance cameras captured a group of taggers from across the plaza last week. But even after this happened, no one at city hall stepped up patrols to stop the repeat offenders. While it is not enough to clinch a nomination, kpix 5s Elizabeth Cook tells us still, a lot at stake here. Liz. Reporter absolutely. The numbers are just coming in right now. Lets start with the republicans first. Cbs news is declaring texas senator ted cruz the winner. He has 50 with 5 of precincts reporting. Donald trump has 34 . And who Governor John Kasich has 14 . As for the democrats, Bernie Sanders is hoping for his fourth win in a row. Right now with 4 reporting, the vermont senator has 57 . Former secretary of state Hillary Clinton has 43 . Heres a live look at the Cruz Campaign headquarters in milwaukee, wisconsin shaping up to be a big night for the Cruz Campaign. Cbs projecting cruz winning. Well keep an eye on the numbers. Thank you. Kpix 5 political analyst melissa caen joins to us break down the results. Huge night for ted cruz. Really a big night for cruz and how much damage does this do now to donald trump . Reporter potentially serious damage i mean, he really needed these delegates in order to have a sort of an easy path to getting the nomination. If he doesnt get the delegates here it becomes much more difficult for him to wrap up it before the convention. A loss here tonight makes it extremely likely there will be a contested convention with no candidate coming in with the majority. So 42 delegates. But this isnt a winner take off. How do they divide them up and is this going to stop trump really . its winnertakeall a hybrid. 18 of the 42 delegates go to whoever is the overall statewide winner. Thats the winnertakeall piece. Wisconsin has 8 Congressional Districts. Each of those districts has 3 delegates at stake. And so the winner in each of the eight Congressional Districts also gets three delegates. So its mini winnertakeall and then a statewide winner takeall so trump could technically win a Congressional District or two and come away with three or more delegates even though he is losing overall. John kasich not doing well. Is this the end of the line . No way he is no way kasich is in it. His campaign has said repeatedly they really believe if it gets to a contested or open convention, that everyone will turn around and go kasich. My love, youve been here all the time. And yet we did not recognize your greatness of. Please be our candidate. He really believes. After today if trump loses john kasich will be more motivated to be in it because an open convention is guaranteed so he wants to be everyones compromise candidate. We want to switch to the democratic side and talk about Bernie Sanders. Because another big night for Bernie Sanders. He has done well. Where does the clinton camp go from here . Well, they have to they have already sort of decamped. They didnt stay in wisconsin. She knew things were dicey there. They moved to new york the much larger state where clinton is polling well, 11 points ahead of Bernie Sanders right now. So you can look for her to focus there. Its a delegaterich state. Even a sanders win is going to be a close one. The polls are showing it would be close. Democrats award delegates proportionally so even if sanders were to win say 52 and hillary wins 48 she will still get a good chunk of delegates so i think she will be just fine. Is it mathematically possible for sanders to pull this out . No. But he would need to get some superdelegates to come to his side at a contested convex. Right now his campaign is saying, lets prevent hillary from getting the majority that she needs and then get to the convention and then have that conversation with those superdelegates who would be the deciding factors. So that one could also be an open convention, as well. I cant wait [ laughter ] so excited. Thank you. Well, tonight we are finally learning just how donald trump plans to pay for that wall with mexico.
