Well, they wanted to hit me with brass knuckles on a blind side. Hit my twice. Once when i was getting up. Its sad. Reporter then more fights broke out in front of officers in Civic Center Park. Police made some arrests. But the Police Strategy stopped working after both Trump Supporters and antitrump protestors left the park to fight on the street. Officers were outnumbered. They had to watch the fights from a distance. The dualing rallies grew to a large crowd of roughly 1,000 to 1500 people. And there were fights all over the place. Are you okay . Ill be okay. What happened . I got pepper sprayed and hit with a bunch of sticks. Reporter aside from fighting, people threw m80s, rocks and bottles at each other. Some of the peaceful demonstrators left fearing for their own safety. Theres a difference between free speech and free action. This is turning to action. Reporter a demonstrator brought these eggs out here. They were confiscated and from my observation, some of these folks did not come out here with the intention of having productive conversations with each other. They came out here ready for a fight and thats exactly what we saw, a lot of fights. Ely police said earlier this afternoon they arrested about 15 people. Im sure its a lot more right now. What was it like being in the thick of the protests . Reporter it was dangerous for us. We had 4 cameras out here. Some of us had helmets on. Because people were throwing rocks, were throwing sticks. Bottles. It was just very dangerous. After we had enough footage, we had to step back away. Some photo journalists, from photographers were caught in the middle of it and got hurt. Chopper 5 captured fight after fight and what looks like teargas or pepper spraying being used. Its unclear what this was trop. At one point, protestors started a small fire and started rolling a big garbage bin around. Antitrump protestors smashed a skate board on top of a Trump Supporters head. We asked the folks taking part if they were intentionally trying to provoke a reaction by bringing a protrump message and gathering to the heart of liberal berkeley. Isnt that poking the bear to come here well, it is in a way, but were not doing it to be gleeful about it or to deliberately upset people who are against us, but we have every right to be here.
