Right now live in calistoga, anne makevoc, kpix 5. Three bodies have been pulled from the valley fire burn zone so far. One is this man leonard neft a retired reporter for the mercury news. His car was burnedout and abandoned. The family says by the time he got out it was too late. Another victim lived in a trailer. His family scrap Metal Recycling yard. He was likely sleeping and never had a chance to get out. And the third victim 72year old Barbara Mcwilliams found dead on saturday a disabled woman with multiple sclerosis and was trapped inside her home. In the sierra foothills, the butte fire is now 55 contained. The size of the fire in amador and calaveras counties has remained under 71,000 acres. Two people are confirmed dead and 365 homes are destroyed. Investigators say the butte fire may have been caused by a pg e power line hitting a tree. People lined the streets of a camp to thank crews battling a fire. Firefighters from Santa Clara County posted this video saying they were humbled. The work they do is amazing. I guess the environments they are going to work in over the weekend is not great. Reporter we had relief from the rain but the weather pattern is shifting so well have a dry offshore flow. Not great for firefighting conditions but we are hoping the rain at least will give them a little bit of help dampening the area. Lets take a live look outside right now. Meantime, over at the bay bridge toll plaza, it was friday light up until a fenderbender at the toll plaza. All lanes are open but traffic is backed up into the macarthur maze. Sluggish through berkeley and emoryville. The 880 commute rolling steady open in both directions through opened. Reporter their San Francisco attorneys are filing a legal claim against the city of vallejo insisting the statements made by police have kept denise from landing a job and ruined the couples reputation. They were painted to the world as having been involved in a terrible hoax. A police takedown of a teen in stockton is going viral. [ screaming ] police say San Francisco yearold Emilio Mayfield was standing in a bus lane Tuesday Morning and refused to get on the sidewalk. Thats when an officer stopped him. A Bus Passenger recorded the video of of the struggle that followed. When the officer called for backup, nine more officers showed up and took emilio to the ground. I feel traumatized by that and i felt like i was beaten and slammed on the floor. In the video, our officer had his baton out. But the suspect was also grabbing and holding on to that baton. Emilio was cited for resisting arrest and trespassing. Today you may see lawn chairs instead of cars in parking spots. We are seeing backups now, you can see the yellow there that our sensors are picking up delays through the San Ramon Valley and its been a headache of a drive for tracy drivers. Major delays from the i5 interchange because of an accident westbound 205 at 11th street for over an hour. Causing those long delays. So again, youre going to see brake lights leaving tracy from i5, stays heavy down the Altamont Pass through the cities every livermore, pleasanton and it doesnt pick up until you reach the dublin interchange where there is a brief delay as you hit 680 traffic picks up down the dublin grade and we had an accident at the bay bridge toll plaza. Reporter a lot of these people are sick of staying here at the napa county fairgrounds. I cannot blame them. Evacuation orders have been lifted for the berryessa estates. But there are still hundreds of people staying here at the napa county fairgrounds waking up here once again this morning. I 585 homes burned and a lot of owners dont even know it yet. Reporter thousands of people evacuated from the valley fire have been waiting for permission to return home and dealing with grim news. As many of you know already, we have had three confirmed fatalities. I hate to say it, but i expect to find more. Reporter and then perhaps the best news many had heard all week. [ indiscernible ] is on our ray door for repopulation in the next 24 hours. [ applause and cheers ] reporter a timeline for when people can finally return home. Were looking at 7 days. Were looking at 7 days. The command team, the incident management team, we are looking at 7 days this incident being declared control. Reporter there are some people who refuse to wait until their homes are deemed safe. I have news for you. You can put it on the media. Us middletown boys are going home whether the Highway Patrol is there or not. Reporter firefighters cautioned against that. Its dangerous. It puts everyone at risk. Reporter while admitting theres little they can do once people cross the checkpoint. In the state of california if you refuse to leave we will not forcibly remove you. Reporter for two days this week, Sheriffs Officers had been escorting some people back to their properties to see what, if anything, was left. Then the Sheriffs Office suddenly stopped those escorts. Crews assessing damage from the valley fire had to call in the bomb squad yesterday. They came across an old military shell. Bomb technicians from Travis Air Force base removed it. Then later detonated it outside of middletown. Three bay area men are accused of trying to loot evacuated homes in the burn region. Deputies spot them yesterday driving in the Hidden Valley lake area. He says they had masks, gloves, burglary tools and a loaded gun in their truck. Two of the men are from brisbane. The other from San Francisco. And all are in custody. Here are the latest numbers on the fire. Its holding at 35 containment. Just under 74,000 acres have burned. 585 homes burned in the flames but crews say they know of hundreds of other homes also destroyed that they havent counted yet. Almost 7500 homes are still threatened. Everyone got a little relief including the firefighters this week. But i get Mother Nature is going to turn it up. We have an offshore flow. Not a really strong wind. But an offshore flow nonetheless. We are going to dry things out and warm up temperatures. Not great news for firefighters.
