Oakland police say that neighboring Law Enforcement agencies have been alerted of tonights demonstration just in case Oakland Police do need backup. The Sonoma County deputy who shot and killed teenager andy lopez will be back on patrol duty next week. Deputy Erick Gelhaus shot lopez is 7 times when he mistook the 134yearolds toy gun for a real one, the 13yearold boy. The District Attorney decided not to charge gelhaus. He has been on desk duty since last year. A man who posed as a tsa agent at sfo will not be facing charges. Eric slighton was arrested after he reportedly took two women aside to be screened. Prosecutors say they dont have any Surveillance Video and the two women have not come forward. While its illegal to impersonate a police officer, three no law against impersonating a tsa agent. She was a senior at high school when we first met her. Her father was an attorney in guatemala but was kidnapped and tortured during the civil war there. I was never expecting to go from playing with barbie dolls to, you know, holding a bill in my hand and saying how are we going to pay for this, this months . Reporter together they taught her mother to walk. We worked so hard. After three or four doctors telling us she would never walk again, it was like, wow, you know, like, we did it. Reporter but her fathers Health Problems got worse while lorna was at saint marys college. She almost quit at one point. If not for her adviser, barb hendricks. I would actually counsel her and say the reason that she is getting her education is so that she has a better ability and opportunity to help them once she graduates. She was definitely that light at the end of the tunnel that i needed to see again because my tunnel had become very dark in those years. [ crying ] reporter what would she say to you . She told me i cant quit. Reporter and she didnt. She got her masters, her parents here by her side. Her dad has dementia now and lorna still supports her parents financially as well as emotionally. Regarders will of the struggle they had been through, they, uhm, i am a product of the way they raised me.
