The National Security agency Surveillance Program survived a close vote on capitol hill. The house voted last night to continue collecting americans phone records in the fight against terrorism. The vote was 217 to 205 against an amendment to the defense bill. If it had passed, the nsa would have been required to identify specific targets before collecting data. And it looks like student loan rates will be going back down. The u. S. Senate has passed a bill to cut loan rates for the fall. Its similar to a bill the house already passed. The bill would link Interest Rates for federal Student Loans to the financial markets. President obama says the bipartisan vote is a major victory for american students.
