Workers will be advocating for a number of issues including better immigrant rights, living wages and antieviction foreclosures, Police Brutality and waters. Thousands of people will unite with with picket signs. Last year demonstrations were peaceful in both oakland and in San Francisco. Certainly that is what police and everyone else are hoping for today, that energetic but peaceful protest. We know this group says they are particularly focused on a certain issue and from here, we know that they are going to march to different locations throughout the city and there they will set up pickets and chants. Now the latest developments on that wildfire down in San Bernardino county. Mandatory evacuation orders canceled for more than 1600 homes that were in danger. The fire began yesterday morning north of Rancho Cucamonga, quickly spread because of the strong santa ana winds in the area. Because of the weather conditions, firefighters have not been able to battle the flames from the air. As soon as the winds die down, we will bring in the firefighting aircraft. Fire burned about 1,000 acres so far. At this point theres no estimate on the containment. Four high schools in the area will remain closed today, though. So far, the only structure reported burned is a fence. Meanwhile, some smaller fires, though, have been burning elsewhere in the Southern California area. Well, books of course a part of everyday life for a student but a Charter School in vallejo, well, they didnt have a library. Until a group of students worked together to start one. That makes Mare Island Technology academy this weeks cool school. Reporter Mare Island Technology academy has its share of triumphs and its share of challenges. We dont have a gym. We dont have a library. We dont have athletic fields. So we have to be very creative and make do with what we have. When you dont have a library at your school, it kind of you dont feel like you should read. But you know, you still have to. Reporter so this group of three freshmen in a Leadership Class came up with a plan to start a library. Through facebook and book drives, they urged students, parents and the community to donate. Reporter with 800 middle and High School Students spread out in different buildings on campus, the challenge was to find the Perfect Place for a library. So the plan . And the weekend is going to be a whole lot cooler and back to normal. High pressure though holding on for now but beginning to slide a little further to the east. And by the afternoon, well see the sea breeze kick in along the coastline bringing the temperatures down. We are going to see something we havent seen for a few days, low clouds and fog forming tonight and moving along the coastline early tomorrow morning and more of the fog and low clouds as we head in toward the weekend. So everybody right now is experiencing this current heat wave. Now, what do you need to know to beat todays heat . Well, it sounds so simplistic. It sounds easy. But we cannot jump up and down enough to remind you. First off, hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. That means stay away from Morning Coffee or caffeinated beverages during the afternoon hours because that certainly does add to dehydration. Secondly, please be mindful of the elderly, children and pets. Thats why they call it the dog days of summer, right . Third and just as important, make sure you exercise in the earlymorning hours when things are cooling off now or in the early evening hours because during the heat of the day, you want to heat stroke or any kind of cramps. Meanwhile, the cities that will be taking a stab at record highs today will be livermore, 96 degrees, that was established in 1947. San jose 96. Gilroy 99. And kentfield at 93 degrees. It happened late last night at Escambia County jails booking facility. Part of the building actually collapsed. All of the injured are either inmates or correctional officers. No word on what caused that explosion. But investigators say it might be connected to all the flooding caused by all the heavy rain in the south this week. Theres been another explosion involving a train hauling crude oil. Three tankers burst into flames after a dozen cars jumped the tracks in virginia. An industry publication says the train was carrying bakken crude. Its the same type of highly explosive oil that we have reported is heading to the bay area. The u. S.
