Kpix 5s Jessica Flores went back to the scene today. Reporter a year later theres a memorial here at webster street where the two men were killed. Their murders are unsolved. Oakland police dont know who shot and killed the 22yearold and the 20yearold. But investigators and the victims families are hoping someone in the public comes forward with information to help solve the murders. Somebody knows something. All we ask is that you just come forward so, you know, we can have justice for these boys. Reporter the two victims, Berkeley High school graduates, were shot and killed after an altercation at an Art Gallery Party in downtown oakland. Police say around 1 a. M. On august 14th, 2016, craig was shot defending his girlfriend, who was being harassed by a group of men. Craig stepped in to let them know that, hey, shes with me and as a result of that, he got jumped and attacked by this group of individuals. And ultimately it cost him his life. Reporter the shots fired inside then spilled into the street. Police say that terrence wasnt a target but he was shot and killed outside. We can get them back but we can have closure and justice for these boys out celebrating, you know . Having a good time. Reporter police say an estimated 300 people were at the party. Theres a 25,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest. In oakland, Jessica Flores, kpix 5. A developing story in San Francisco. A boat sinks in an area popular with swimmers. Susie steimle is live at aquatic park in San Francisco. Whats the latest . Reporter well, kenny, swimmers have been told to stay out of this area as well as boaters for the time being as they figure out whats going on and if there are any Environmental Concerns at hand. We are near fort mason. The boat is out of the water and on the way back to dock. We have video from this morning showing it under water. This happened around 7 a. M. And you will see some divers moving around there, putting inflatable bags into the boat to lift it back up. They are still trying to figure out what Environmental Concerns they are dealing with. They have about 50 gallons of diesel on that boat. So police put out a protective barrier just to be sure. They do tell us that they dont see any signs of leaking at this point in time. They are just putting up the boom as a precaution. The boat belongs to the sea scouts. Thats a Youth Program. Its a nonprofit. They tell us this boat was in use last night and what happened is a mystery. We do operate a Youth Program here. And we do have kids, teens, between the ages of 1 and 21 operating the boat between the ages of 14 and 21 operating the boat. Thats what we do. We havent made any mistakes that would cause this. We have no idea why the boat was sunk this morning. Reporter they are hoping to get a better idea of what caused this boat to zipping when they pull it up back to the dock and get a chance to inspect it. The best news, of course, known was on the boat at the time that it sank. They are still trying to figure out if theres anything suspicious that took place here and again, they did tell us that the good news is, they have a handful of teenagers coming by today for this Youth Program. They are going to get some free labor to repair this boat. So they are saying, um, thats the good news. There are several zones on californias coast where drilling and mining are banned and those may be at risk under President Trumps executive order. The greater farallones, the president used parts of the coastal u. S. In other ways. Our country is blessed with incredible Natural Resources including abundant offshore oil and natural gas reserves. But the federal government has kept 94 of these offshore areas closed for exploration and production. And when they say closed, they mean closed. Reporter that was what President Trump said back in april when he signed an executive order to review marine sanctuaries as potentials for offshore oil drilling. That put political leaders like nancy pelosi and environmentalists in a panic they believed that more than 15,000 square miles of marine sanctuaries in california should stay as sanctuaries. The foolishness of degrading the protections of these waters will have broad and long lasting consequences. We have reason for concern. This is not a drill. We need these sanctuaries. I mean, ocean protection is critical to my members to their fishing operation, to their jobs and to the coastal way of life in california. We have a huge abundance of marine life. And if we were to have oil drilling or a spill in the area, all these animals could be destroyed in one fell swoop reporter but the president views marine sanctuaries like the farralones, cordell bank, monterey bay and areas for wealth the administration wants to tap into. So many things sound absurd, but were serious. So we have to fight them. We have to remind them californians and environmentalists are not going to stand for this reporter in the past decade, president obama and george w.
