Schools in the area go on lockdown. Big bear later shuts down for the day. Then early this afternoon. Swat team members in fatigues are lowerd in helicopters into the mountainous terrain of the big bear region. They continue the dangerous search for Christopher Dorner with rifles drawn. The attempt apparently failed when the boat malfunctioned. A few days later, items belonging to dorner, including his lapd badge, were found here near lindbergh field. Then. Two days later, 90 miles to the north in corona, two la pd officers were involved in a shoot out with dorner around 1 30 in the morning. One of the officer was injured and dorner escaped. A short time later, two riverside Police Officers were ambushed while waiting in their car at a stop light. One of the officers was killed and the other seriously injured. And finally, on thursday afternoon, a truck believed to belong dorner was found burning in the trees near big bear, a mountainous are about 100 miles east of los angeles. In the meantime, almost a year ago on march 6. Another 13 Year Old Girl was found dead in a park. Just 50 miles away from fairfield in the community of rosemont. The body of 13 year old Jessica Funk Haslam was also discovered in rosemont park. Her body was located in the dugout of the parks baseball field. She died of trauma to the head, asphyxia and a stab wound. Now this case is unsolved and detectives with the Sacramento CountySheriffs Department have reached out to Fairfield Police asking if they want to share information.
