Thousands of hopes are threatened tonight as the king fire grows larger. Officials say the fastmoving fire started one week ago and has burned more than 120 square miles. They say it traveled six miles over last night. Theres no stopping this fire. They dropped retardant and water on it, and the aircrews were. Its sickening and horrifying. Its awful. I dont know what else to say. Over 20,000 structures are threatened. Assessment teams will be checking to see how many structures have been damaged so far. Family and friends are mourning a 43yearolds death. The man was hit on the head with a steel bar inside the Fitness Center and later died with the injuries. The driver who hit and killed a pedestrian in San Francisco this morning has been arrested. The accident happened just before 10 00 this morning. The driver of a toyota suv was heading west on sacramento street and turned left southbound heading into the tunnel. Thats when he hit and killed a woman in the intersection. The driver was arrested for vehicular manslaughter. A family of a rich the Funeral Services held today. He loved people around him. He wanted to do nothing but help people. The familys lawyer said perez was unarmed and did not try to take the officers gun. The officer who shot perez is on leave. Santa rosa police are asking for help in finding a missing teenage girl. The men escaped from the jail in the Central Valley friday night. They were serving time for different charges. Investigators say they arent sure how the men made it out. They were last seen wearing orange jump suits or white tshirts with blue shorts. The u. S. Army evacuated 40 americans stranded after hurricane odile caused major damage. The u. S. Embassy told the stranded tourists to make they are way to the airport as soon as possible. Lots of devastation from hurricane odile, one of the strongest hurricanes on record. Most of the activity has been taking place to the south of highway 50. The king fire is on the north side so there has not been too much effect. The thunderstorms can help in that they drop heavy rain, which can douse flames. But they also create lightning which can spark more fires. Thats what were seeing for tonight, at least the lightning, spotty heavy rain and a few lightning strikes and some showers have actually made it into the bay area for tonight but that has wound down this evening. Reporter these are the pictures showing some of the eight malnourished dogs found by San Francisco animal care and control, dogs suffering from parasites, lots of reporter the dogs are in the care of city officials. Animal care officers tell us the dogs former owners were evicted and left them behind. No animals deserves to be treated like that. Reporter the eviction took place on wednesday and later that day the dogs were found abandoned, meaning the owners of the an mess kept them malnourished. The dogs that have a long ways to go but they believe they are going to be okay. Were more focused on bringing the animals to health. So theyre away from that situation and theyre now in our hands and getting the care that they deserve. Reporter the investigation is ongoing here.
