Take a look at this picture. She has dark curly hair. Last seen wearing orange pajamas with pink hearts and pink socks. Police have been searching the home of webbs father. Good morning. Reporter good morning. I can tell you this is a very active search and investigation. Within the last half hour, four patrol cars sitting here overnight cleared the scene of the girls fathers home where she allegedly lived with the father. Before the officers left two k9 units searched the home from the sheriffs office. And thats the apartment where daphne webb lived with her father. I happened to see the car seat and it was empty. My heart felt for him. Immediately. It was empty. The gentleman who came upon the scene yesterday. Heres what she looks like. 21 months old. Her father john webb reported her missing yesterday around 11 00 p. M. He told investigators he went into a market on 79th and international. He left the toddler with his elderly mother. He went in and when he came out she was gone. The woman is believed to be the toddlers grandmother. At this point, its unclear if the child was snatched from the suv or even in the vehicle to begin with. Police are searching the area around the market. The fathers home and a park area at mlk junior where the family often visited. There are not any witnesses who saw the child. Were not looking at him as a suspect. Were trying to narrow the time line down for the child. Again, at this point they are not saying the father is a suspect. Do want to speak with anyone who knows john webb because they do want to piece together a better time line and last time the child was seen. Seen by someone other than her father, excuse me. They did also see a woman. A witness reported seeing a woman carrying a child that matched the description yesterday. That woman is described as latina or african america with light complex. Her distinguishing look is long black hair. Possibly seen carrying a child similar in description. Ktvu, channel 2 news. Thank you. Ntsb making Good Progress and getting ready to wrap up on scene. First, want to pan over to where the wreckage still sits. What we saw the last 15 minutes was that crane sitting on the back of that flatbed pull on to the run way with an escort. Not sure where they are going to place that. At least the second cra thats been brought out. Pan further down the run way. You can see the wreckage is still there. Ntsb does have more work to do on that today. They are getting close to wrapping this up. Talked to the ntsb this morning in the latest in the investigation. And the chair told me that they have done many more interviews in the last 24 hours with the cabin crew and 6 of the flight attendants as they try to piece together what happened. What do they have left . At this point the investigation kind of shifts. It goes to finishing collecting what they can do out here. Being able to move the wreckage and back to headquarters and put it all together with everything theyve gleaned from this investigation. A lot of work still ahead. Were talking months. As many as 18 months before they are finished wrapping up. One of the things they did learn yesterday and that they revealed yesterday was that the pilots reported seeing a light. One of the pilots said he saw a light before landing and talked to us about what he saw. Were looking at the light issue but again, its a temporarily thing. The pilot said he looked back and could see the strauments just fine. Instruments just fine. You are looking at video of that crane as it was brought on to the run way 15 minutes ago. Sfo saying they are going to work around the clock. The primary goal is to reopen run way 28 left where all this happened as quickly as possible. They said its probably about 50 to 55 flights that have either been canceled, delayed or combined with other flights because of this closure. This run way one of four at sfo. Theres still a lot of work when you talk about the spilled jet fuel and hazardous materials. You have certain repairs the faa needs to do and do test lights out there before they can test flights out there they can open it up. Make sure everything is in line. We reached out to sfo. This morning were getting a look at video from mud slides that trapped 20 drivers on a colorado highway. This is just the latest report of flooding in a Colorado Springs area following last years deadly fire. More than half an inch of rain fell causing mud to flow into 20 houses. Officials have been warning about the potential of flooding in months in areas devastated by the fire. That fire burned 347 homes and killed two home. This Morning Police are investigating what caused a head on crash that killed a couple in richmond. Happened about 8 00 last night not far from the chevron refinery. For some reason the driver swerved into on coming traffic and rolled over into the path of a big rig. The victims a man and a woman in their 60s. Both directions of the richmond parkway were closed from 580 in hensley avenue while police cleared the scene. The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations is holding a hearing on the transition into afghanistan. This is a live picture now. Its report says yahoo fought the government in 2008 when agencies wanted details on information. A top secret court made yahoo comply and that gave the government leverage. Now yahoo wants the court to unseal files showing customers need to know they fought the government and the public would better understand how programs are approved. Several other states switched to a single drug execn me response to legal challenges. There are currently more than 700 inmates on death row. In the meantime, 29,000 inmates in california prisons are continuing to take part in a hunger strike. This is day 4. Protesting the prolong use of colonel teary confinement. California inmates can be held in isolation indefinitely if they are suspected to having ties to prison gangs. They are seeking a five year limit to solitary confinement. 7 18. Late last night police searched a park on the Martin Luther king junior shore line in connection. Webb has been missing for one day. Her father says he left her in an suv with a disabled relative while he went into a market. Police say they are investigating a possibility the child was not with her father yesterday. Oakland police are searching for the person who stole a car at gunpoint last night and drove off with a baby inside. It happened about 10 45 on high street. A family of five stopped there to fill up. A man with a gun walked up and told them to get out. The man drove off with a one year old boy in the backseat. Shortly after the carjacking, the baby was found safe about a mile away. The people that took the car left their jacket. A person walking by saw the baby under a tree and called police. So far, no arrests have been made. Time now 7 31. Reporter a neighbor told me she heard the crash and ran outside and saw the little boy right over there laying underneath that light pole. He was unconscious. She held his hand until a firefighter got out here. It appears his leg was broken. It was twisted. The mother, were told , was found closer here to the sidewalk laying on the ground. She was also injured. The accident happened here on newark boulevard just after 8 00 last night. Officers say a female driving a white suv struck the mother and her child on bicycles. The childs bike was trapped underneath the suv. Neighbors say a man claiming to be the boys father was on the street. He was very distraught and said his son was five years old. Both victims were rushed to the hospital. We were told they had serious injuries. Neighbors are shaken up over the accident and wondering if speeding was a factor. People speed a lot down here. They are going between 50 to 60 miles an hour. They actually race down this street at times. Reporter the speed limit is 35 miles an hour. Its unknown if that female driver was speeding or how fast she was traveling. She did stop and is talking to police. Police are trying to figure out what caused her to strike the mom and the child. We do know that officers say that a field sobriety test was done and doesnt appear alcohol or drugs played a factor in this accident. She has not been arrested. Happening today, closing arguments will continue in the trial of two men accused in a richmond gang rape. 22yearold jose montono and peter. Attorneys for peter have argued he only watched the attack but did not take part. Two men have been convicted. And two others are waiting trial on lesser charges. A jury is getting ready to hear closing arguments in the George Zimmerman trial. He is charged with killing 17yearold Trayvon Martin. What is expected in court today. Good morning, stacy. Reporter good morning. Right now i can tell you the attorneys for both sides are before a judge having a discussion about how the jury will be instructed. We are expected to have closing arguments this afternoon. As the seconddegree murder trial winds down, attorneys will confer with the judge over jury instructions. Prosecutors ask the court to let jurors consider lesser charges. But zimmermans lawyers object. His client wanted to tell the jury what happened the night he shot Trayvon Martin but in the end zimmerman decided after consulting with council not to testify, your honor. The defense rested wednesday after dramatic scenes showed the defense and prosecute for straddling a foam dummy. Demonstrating the altercation between zimmerman and the teen. Would be consistent the 90 degrees if Trayvon Martin backing up and the defendant raised his gun. The injuries on mr. Zimmermans back of his head consistent with someone doing this . Zimmermans Attorney Says there was no way around shooting martin. George had no alternative and did what he believed what he had to do to protect himself from Great Bodily Injury that was already being visited upon him. Trayvon martins family disputes his actions. Were his actions reasonable . The actions dont start in the middle of a struggle. They start from him getting out of a car armed with a 9 millimeter following and running after someone running away from him. Fire works like those during Opening Statements are expected when attorneys make their closing arguments to the jury. Reporter prosecution is expected to begin their closing arguments this afternoon. We are told that will take about two hours. The defense will get their turn tomorrow. Back to you. Thank you. Crews are beginning to remove the wreckage of flight 214. We took new video of the crash site less than half an hour ago. A second large construction crane has been brought in right next to the plane. Workers are starting to salvage operation removing the debris scattered across the run way. Workers will also have to repair the sea wall. Sfo will announce when run way 28 will reopen. The ntsb has turned over the run way, investigators are still examining the plane. They will next evaluate the evidence theyve collected and perhaps visit other cities as part of their investigation. This morning, the head of the ntsb clarified a story that came out from yesterdays news conference. The main pilot said he saw a flash of light 34 seconds before the crash. He was descending to 500 feet and preparing to land when something temporarily blinded him. Investigators do not think it contributed to the crash. He told them he could still see the instrument panel. A group of passengers from flight 214 returned to sfo. San Francisco Police escorted 30 passengers and family members to the crash site. They viewed the wreckage for half an hour. They were not allowed to take photographs. Some people were emotional and cried. Just actually talking to other passengers gives you a fuller picture of what happened. Some people that were in the front more fire and smoke. Others that got out that had their babies and able to get out quickly. The trip was organized by the ntsb. It gave survivors a chance to see the plane before its hauled away. Independent engineering has suggested a fix he says will allow the bridge to open by labor day and possibly even earlier. The proposal calls for a metal shim to tighten the broken bolts. This is a very simple structural operation. Transit Officials Say they still need to study the proposal. They are eager to open the new span as soon as possible due to concerns about the ability of the existing bridge to withstand an earthquake. The California State Senate approved legislation that would allow immigrants who are not u. S. Citizens to help voters at polling places. The bill would allow for up to five noncitizens to help out at each polling site. They would have been permanent u. S. Residents who legally entered the country. Such poll workers could provide much needed help to voters with limited english skills. The bill now heads to the assembly. There is more trouble for an Oakland Charter school. Two federal agencies took new action on the three School Campuses starting yesterday and early this morning. The irs says the schools are not being shut down and no students or faculty are in any danger. The fbi and irs are part of an ongoing criminal investigation. The agent could not say if the warrants are related to earlier problems. Last year the schools former director was accused of funneling 3. 8 million from the schools to companies he owns. Two young teenage girls who robbed and assaults a woman on an muni train have been arrested. This video captured the robbery. Investigators say they gave the footage to fugitive watch who posted the video online. Because of a tip generated by the video, the 13yearold and 14yearold girls are facing charges. Drug teams made one of the biggest hauls in years. 500 pound loads of marijuana. Officers say there were about 10,000 plants growing on public park land. They found out about the operation from a rancher who reported hearing of a gun shot. They had to approach the field cautiously. Another passenger helped him lift the man to safety. No trains were coming at the time. I saw something go over on the tracks. I went to go see and theres a guy laying there strapped to his wheelchair. Officials say the man in the wheelchair moved closer in order to read a sign. The army says he is under consideration for the soldiers medal and an award given for bravery. Attendance at the Alameda County fair was way down this year. And organizers think they know why. About 390,000 people came to check out the fair during a 17 day run. Thats down from the 534,000 last year. Organizers say the drop may be due to the long heat wave last week and the four day bart strike is also being blamed. Speaking of heat, a video to demonstrate how hot it can get in death valley is getting an unwanted reaction. This shows a park staffer frying an egg. Many have started to imitate the staffer however they are trying eggs directly on the pavement. The park says all those cracked eggs are creating quite a mess. And they are asking visitors to stop. I can tell you that this morning detectives worked the fathers home his oak knoll neighborhood. We watched as two k9 units office searched the fathers apartment. At this point they say hes not a suspect. Were not looking at him a suspect right now. Were trying to narrow the time line down for the child. Reporter police want anyone who may have seen 21 month old daphne webb with her father to come forward. Trying to determine when the last time someone saw her to report her. When he returned to his suv after shopping his daughter was gone. Webbs grandmother was in the or webbs mother was in the suv but she suffers from dementia and wasnt much help. She asked me had i seen anybody and i told him no. I said what happened . And he said his daughter had been taken and moms purse had been taken. Just to clarify, that woman is believed to be the toddlers grandmother. At this point, its unclear if the child was snatched from the suv or even in the vehicle to begin with. There are not any witnesses who saw the child taken yesterday morning. Detectives have searched the area around the market. The fathers home and park area where the family often visited. Now, a witness did report seeing a child in the neighborhood of the market that matched the clothing description of daphne and that child was being carried by a woman described as light skin, latina or African American. Long black straight hair. Possibly someone seen in the area but really looking for people to come forward who may have seen the child with her father last. Ktvu channel 2 news. Thank you. 802. Work is underway right now to clear the sfo run way thats been closed since the crash of flight 214 on saturday. That closure and the fog today are causing delays of up to 2 hours and 40 minutes. We should know in the next few days when run way 28 left will reopen. Claudine is on the run way where crews are busy clearing the scene. Is the big hulk of the plane still there . Reporter it is still here. That wreckage isnt going to be moved quite yet. They are close. Made a lot of progress within the last few hours. When we talk about the wreckage, it is still there behind containers. Wefsh seen a lot of equipment in here. I want to show you the video we took over an hour ago as heavy machinery started moving in. Bringing pieces of equipment in as they got the all clear. There is a lot of debris along that run way. Theres also rocks from the sea wall. They have to check all the electrical and get the faa out there. So still unclear how long its going to take before traffic moves along there. As you said, it does complicate things when there is one of our run ways. It makes it difficult so the airport saying the primary is to get that run way open. When were finished doing documentation, the salvage operation will move the aircraft. We need that evidence going forward. The majority of it will stay locally. We have parts of it that we have already taken back and some parts will continue to take back to dc. Thats whats happening next. Did finish up 6 interviews of the 12 flight attendants. The other 6 are still in the hospital and interviews all four pilots and passengers. Now the goal is to put all that together and that will take some time. Many months as many as 18. New this morning two men are recovering after being stabbed at a super market. Police say the violence erupted last night after the victims got into a fight with two other men on grant street. One was stabbed in the abdomen. The other was slashed in the head. The suspects then ran from the scene. Police have not made any arrests. The search continues for whoever opened fire in oakland. It on macarthur boulevard at 6 30 last night. One man was rushed to the hospital. A police chief was one of the officers on the scene. We are looking into the possibility there was multiple shooters. Reporter yes, police tell us there was a Good Samaritan who helped. He was laying underneath that light poll and started performing first aid. It appears that helped but he is suffering from serious injuries. Police say a 72yearold woman driving a white suv struck a mother and her five year old son who were riding their bicycles near russian around 8 00 last night. The boys father was on a bike with them but not hit. Neighbors say the mom and sun were knocked off their bikes and the boy appeared to have a broken leg. He is in serious condition. His mom is also suffering moderate injuries. They also say these neighbors heard the father confront the driver and was questioning her about how fast she was traveling. Its unknown if speed played a factor in the accident. Im not surprised because its actually happened quite a bit in the last two years. Been many of accidents. This is probably the 6th time since living here. It appears the family was in the crosswalk when they were hit. Police tell us alcohol and drugs do not appear to have played a part in this accident. In Sonoma County a car and hit and killed a pedestrian last night. Stoney point road. The chp says a car ran into a parked car and hit the pedestrian. The person later died at the hospital. The driver told investigators he was trying to avoid hitting a dog that had run out in front of his car. And this Morning Police are investigating what caused a head on crash that killed a couple in richmond. Happened at 8 00 last night on the richmond parkway. Police tell ktvu for some reason the driver swerved into on coming traffic and rolled over into the path of a big rig. The victims are a man and a woman in their 60s. Closed from 580 hensley avenue while police cleared the scene. A soud ee princess is facing charges of human trafficking. This is a picture of 42yearold michelle alayvon. She was forced to work 16 hours a day 7 days a week for 220 a month. According to the woman, she was unable to flee because she kept her passport and documents. Also found four other workers being held under similar circumstances. A couple in davis is accused of lewd conduct in a park. Police say a 30yearold woman flashed children and passing bike riders. Her alleged accomplice was nearby videotaping or taking photographs of the incident. One boy was so startled by seeing a naked woman he fell off his bike. The couple faces charges including a lewd acts in public, annoying a child and indecent exposure. Customers were without power last night. Started around 11 00 p. M. 5700 customers were affected. By 11 45, roughly 4100 customers remain without power. Now 120 customers are waiting for electricity. No word on what caused the outage. Check in again with sal and see whats happening. What happened in court this morning is they are discussing how they are going to charge the jury. What the instructions will be. And whether lesser charges could or could not be included. Manslaughter could be included as a potential lesser charge. Thats what happened so far this morning. We are expecting closing arguments to begin this afternoon. As the seconddegree murder trial winds down, attorneys will confer over jury instructions. Zimmermans attorney said his client wanted to tell the jury what happened but in the end zimmerman decided. After consulting with council not to testify, your honor. The defense rested wednesday after dramatic scenes showed the defense and prosecute for straddling a foam dummy. Demonstrating the altercation between zimmerman and the teen. Would be consistent the 90 degrees if Trayvon Martin had been backing up and raised his gun and shot it 90 degrees. Were the injuries on the back of zimmerman s head with someone doing this . There was no way around shooting martin. George had no alternative and did what only that he believed reasonably that he had to do to protect himself from Great Bodily Injury that was already being visited upon him. Trayvon martins family disputes the justification of zimmermans actions. Were his actions reasonable . The actions dont start in the middle of a struggle. They start from him getting out of the car armed with a 9 millimeter running after someone running away from him. The toddlers grandmother was in the suv at the time. Witnesses say she suffers from dementia. Police would only say she has a disability. A man who lives near the market came up and spoke with webb. At this point, its unclear if the child was snatched from the suv or even in the vehicle to begin with. Police say there are not any witnesses who saw the child being abducted. A witness did report seeing a woman carrying a child in the area who was wearing clothes similar to the outfit daphne wore. Reporter police say that woman is described as latina or African American with light skin and long black straight hair. Police also want anyone who knows john webb to come forward.
