This is causing a huge backup right now. We have ktvus paul chambers. Hes live on the scene in burke lee. We understand this crash involves a number of cars. Thaw is correct, alex. Three or four cars involved including one that was overtopped. And this traffic is slowgoing right here. When we pulled up about 20 minutes ago, it was backed up. Aim sure its a little bit beyond that at this hour. Down to one lane. The far right lane which many people call the slow plane. That is the active lane right now. It breaks open again right at the University Avenue exit. Now, we were told no one was transported in this accident. Thankfully, when you see the car that was overturned. Chp officers say no one was transported. No major injuries. It will be slowgoing through this area. It reopens up at the university area. Burke lee exit. Is where we will reopen. We come back out here live. And one streamline right here. It goes from the four lanes to one lane right here. You chp says theyll be out here for a little bit longer. They this the cleanup behind it. They got one of the vehicles. The one overturned vehicle. And its going to probably be another 20 to 30 minutes. Alex savidge will stay on top of this. Here is a look at some of the top stories we are following this morning. San jose police are looking for a group of people who stabbed a man and a woman in east san jose. The victim suffered critical injuries and are rushed to the hospital. Officers say their preliminary investigation shows the suspects fled in a car. A grandmother in fairfield has been arrested on suspicion of drowning her fouryearold grandson in a bathtub. Fiftyone yearold hughs is being she intentionally drowned the boy yesterday morning. Two of her other grandchildren were also at the home. They were not hurt. We will bring you live updates lout the newscast. And a brutal attack on a correctional officer e. The attack occurred inside a medium security dorm unit on christmas eve. The deputy saw an inmate hiding homemade alcohol when the inmate dropped it. And he knelt down to pick up the contraband. That is when awe horthys say a group of gang members. Ed him. The inmates were punching him, kicking him, kneeing him in the head. And everything. He is very, very fortunate, but did sustain injuries. The guard suffered shoulder injuries and possibly damaged to his hips. Doctors are evaluating whether he suffered any head trauma. The sheriff has added more staffing and is a number of inmates out of lock out at a time. Correctional officers confiscated nine gallons of home general made alcohol and a seveninch homemade knife. Police say their deadly confrontation with a mentally ill man on christmas lasted just 19 seconds. Thirtyoneyearold william called 911 from a Residential Treatment Center that night saying someone at the facility wanted to hurt another person. When officers arrived, police say he was outside waiving a nineinch knife erratically. Authorities say he lunged at police and one officer shot him with a taser. Two other officers fired their gun. The suspect was so close to the three officers that the closest officer actually had to sidestep the suspects falling body. Start to finish, the entire incident when the suspect had contact with our officers transpired in 19 seconds. Police has not said how many times he was shot. Nine bun avenue bum ets. Captured on dash cam video from more than one angle. That footage has been turned over to the santa lara county districts attorney office. Pg ande is asking people in Discovery Bay to call and set up an appointment if they still have no gas and heat. More than 6000 homes lost their Natural Gas Service on sunday. Service has been restored to most of those homes, but some families still have no service because they were not home when pg ande crews came to turn the gas back on u. There are now concerns that when a rain could wash sediment which includes chemicals and toxic rescue for the fire into streams that flow to water sources miles away. One example .
