At one point it was about three feet above flood stage. In some neighborhoods the rising water is creeping in to low lying homes and moving toward raised second store yeses. Reporter Sonoma County officials describe the flooding so far as moderate. Especially compared to previous floods in the 80s and 90s that caused more widespread damage in and around gurnville. Crews stilll working to clear the massive mud supplied along highway 17. A hillside slid onto highway 17 early yesterday morning. It forced the closure of bother northbound lanes. There is wires mixed in with tree stumps, boulders and a lot of loose mud, dirt and gravel. The rain also wash away part of bear creek road. About a quarmile north of highway nine . That would be an alternate route normally for people to get to san jose. Certainly not now. A Television News photographer was driving on highway 17 about three yesterday morning. At the moment when that hillside gave way that van it was crashed in that. The photographer was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Also here is an interesting impact resulting from the major storms hitting the bay area. The weather is now created a has created a water shortage in santa cruz. Believe it or not city leaders say the rain and wind damaged the pipeline that provides about a third of the citys water supply. It has been shut down and repairs are expected to take several days. Businesses and homeowners in santa cruz are being asked to cut back on their water use by 30 for the next week. More flooding concerns today because of the rain and also because of king tides. The Stormy Weather is keeping everybody busy at californias office of Emergency Services in sacramento county. The Staff Members work around the clock keeping an eye on rivers across northern california. They are also watching out for possible flood threats. The emergency workers say they will do everything po to avoid a repeat of the disasterrous 1997 floods that wash away homes and roads around the stay state. Jury citizen apings start today in South Carolina many in the federal sentencing trial of dylan roof who was convicted of killing nine at a African American church. Yesterday the prosecution rested its case against roof following the emotional testimony of survivors and the victims families. Roof who is acting as his own lawyer did not call any witnesses in his defense. Last month roof was convicted of shooting killing nine African American church members. Two years ago. He will either be sentenced to death or life. In Orlando Florida there is a desperate manhunt for a gunman who shot and killed a police officer. A sheriffs deputy was also killed in a crash as he helped search for that killer. The 41 yearold is accused of killing Deborah Clayton yesterday outside a walmart. Investigator that the officer confronted lloyd who opened fire. During the manhunt in Orange County florida motorcycle deputy was killed in a traffic accident.
