Task force recommendations focused on Law Enforcement training as well as Community Outreach and new youth programs. The board will discuss plans for a proposed park called andys unity park. Nity park. Plans are in the works for major safety changes on one of San Franciscos most dangerous streets. Today the citys transportation board is scheduled to vote on a 12 million Safety Improvement plan for franklin street famous crooked part. It is the part in the Marina District that leads to the entrance of the golden gate bridge. The plan is to widen sidewalks to protect pedestrian and more productive crosswalks. There will be more places to park. It technically is an extension of high 101 as drivers come to and from the golden gate bridge. 80,000 pedestrian a day walk along or cross this stretch of lombard. This road is on the High Injury Network making it one of the most dangerous in the city. San francisco municiple Transportation Agency studied this road for a period of five years and found 150 crashes happened on lombard killing two pedestrian and injuring 20 others. The board will vote on the changes on this stretch of road that include widening sidewalks, creating Three Islands for pedestrian in the middle of the roadway and creating bus boarding areas and more visible crosswalks. Trade off Street Parking along all the major intersections would have to be cut back. 50 Parking Spaces would be lost. The board is scheduled to formally approve these changes at their meeting at 1 00 p. M. This afternoon. The cost of the project is 12 million.
