Chp is investigating a rollover crash, south of loving hill near dublin, near stone ridge drive exit. A man in his 40s was driving a silver sedan when his car smashed into the Center Divide and flipped over. For unknown reasons it appears the vehicle may have lost control. At the point we dont know if speed was a factor, intoxication was a factor, we are still investigating. Officers say it doesnt appear any other vehicle was involved in the crash. Time now 7 03, Sheriff Deputies investigating a shoot at a home on river road in forestville. They found a man in the living room who had been shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Witnesses gave deputies a description of the suspects car, they were able to find it at a near by gas station. They took the suspect into custody and confiscated a gun. The Sheriffs Office says two cruisers crashed into one another but the deputies were not seriously injured. Eight families in Pleasant Hill need to find temporary housing after a fire damaged their apartment on the solo drive. Firefighters say two units were destroyed, two others were damaged by smoke and water. Four other units were not damaged but the People Living in those apartments could not go back to their homes. Firefighters say its too early to know what caused the fire. Fire investigator will determine a cause. But at this point we are continuing our investigation. The purpose of his journey powered him through the set backs. His goal was to raise money to help children in africa with medical needs, food and education. You have gotta be able to be so passionate and driven and focused on the different players of why you want to get to the other side that is what will help you and inspire you to be able to drive through difficult times. British Police Released seven people arrested in connection with terror attack in london. Police say the men being questioned were arrested in Central England near the former home of khalid masood. On wednesday police say masood killed four people after driving an suv into a crowd. Masood later shot to death by police. Fbi wants to question this man about an explosion at the cheese cake factory restaurant in pasadena. Kind of give us the insiders perspective on what was happening yesterday as this Health Care Reform was going to a vote, wasnt going to a vote, and then eventually pulled. We didnt know until late. I was back at 1 00 in the morning. But it was the energy of these folks that really defeated this bill. People blogging, showing up to town halls, protesting, it was the activist energy not anything any of us in congress did and at the end of the day they department have the votes. But members of congress didnt want to vote for this bill. Were you surprised the president and the speaker pulled it off the table . I was because usually if the president and the speaker go all in on something they have the votes. But what happened is people were telling their personal stories, the one who had cancer was talking about how they wouldnt have health care if this bill passed. Elderly folks were talking about how their premiums would release and thats why they arent willing to vote for a bad bill. Now what is the focus in terms of health care that people are saying what is next . What kind of reforms will we possibly see or changes even though this one didnt go through. Well i think its important to keep the energy up. Ch its the citizen activism. We still have to be very vigilant because the Trump Administration can take actions from an administrative point of view that the decreases the subsidies for folks on health care. And we still have high premiums for many middle class families. My own view is we need medicare for all and weve got to do something about the outrageous drug prices. So theres still a lot of work to be done and my hope is that this energy will continue. And congressman, talk about just your first three months in washington. What has it been like and i know you kind of threw yourself into the spotlight on immigration when you said im willing to go to jail to oppose the president taking the rights of immigrants families. Youre the grandson of immigrants. Talk about that as well. I said i would stand up for the Constitutional Values of this country and no one would allow the president to do something thats unconstitutional. And i think what weve seen with the defeat of this Health Care Bill is the power of citizen mobilize and my message is that people showing up to town halls blogging, showing up to congressional offices, calling is making a difrps. Were expecting nearly a thousand people at our town hall today in sunniville. I am so inspired by that kind of activism and energy and we need more of it because there are only 193 of us democrats in congress we really need the nations activism to stand up to this agenda. You know as a first round congressman when you look at whats ahead and the issues and how this could all shape up everyones talking about the midterm and how we move forward what do you think your strategy is moving forward and do you think there has to be some sort of compromise if anythings going to be accomplished in that time . I think one area we can come together is jobs. I was in Eastern Kentucky with visiting a republican. They call themselves silicon holler and they invited me because it was a congressman from Silicon Valley. You had coal miners learning Apple Software and Android Software for google l. When it comes to Work Force Development training people for the jobs of the future there is no party and im hopeful that we can move on to creating apprenticeship programs and really trying to prepare the work force. And can you talk about bart getting ever so close to the Silicon Valley, the warm spring station opens today and san jose is right around the corner. California voters approved the ballot last year which has the goal of reducing the states prison population by nearly 10,000 inmates over the next four years. The city would pay 200 million for infrastructure. The remaining funds would come from investors in an nfl seed licensing. It could cost 600 to 700 million. The mayor hopes that will be one of seven reasons. Since this site is ready for construction. Were talking about the 55 acres that right now is a surface parking lot. We can begin the environmental work. The Site Preparation while the raiders do the design work. But what does that mean for the oakland as. And new this morning we are getting new information on this mornings deadly accident on interstate 680 in Pleasant Hill. Shortly after 4 30 in the morning. The chp said a 20yearold man died in antioch after passing three cars. Two of the drivers stopped after hitting the man and are now cooperating with authorities. Chp says the first car to strike him left the scene. Its not clear why the man killed was standing on the freeway. And the chp is investigating another fatal crash. It happened around 3 00 a. M. Near the stone rinl drive exit. Officers say a man in his 40s was driving in the center lane when his car flipped over. At this point we dont know if speed was a factor or if intoxication was a factor. The chp says the driver was the only person in the car and officers say it does not appear any other vehicle was in that crash. After fire damaged their apartment. The fire happened just before 9 30 last night on solo drive. Fire fighting say two units were destroyed. Four other unis werent damaged but two other people couldnt go back to their homes. Firefighters say its too early now to know what may have caused that fire. Our fire investigator will determine the cause of admission. Ful but at this point its going to be under investigation. Everyone did make it out of the building safely. Nobody was injured. The republican planned Health Care Reform is over this morning after coming up short on votes yesterday in washington d. C. But in fact the difficulty was not just from democrats but also from opposition within the Republican Party. Just this afternoon ryan went to the white house telling the president they did not have the 216 votes. Im pleased to believe the legislation has failed because i believe its bad for america. One of the other things i wanted toing ask you about is that i know last year we were doing stories last winter even though it was an okay winter about people saying im going to lee california im going to go ski in other states because the snow there is better i imagine season ticket sales went down. I know several people who didnt buy them. Are you seeing sales coming up now . I will tell you that this winter its been a challenging winter because trying to get up here with the Road Conditions. But with days like today there are so many happy skiers and riders coming back up to the sierras. The entrance level is high and theres all the different activities you can do. Weve talked about snow levels down at the lake. You can snow mobile. You can hike into the back country. So the interest level is still very high for people to come on up to tahoe. I was up there two weeks ago. We ended up skiing at diamond peak. Everything else was closed. I had a weather guy from boston. Another guy from chicago and they said this is the best conditions theyve ever skied in in their life so tahoe is doing it right. I want to say over 50 powder days there year. Wow. And more to come. Where are you headed up to the top of the mountain . Im going to get right on this chair lift right here and i am going to go shred some powder today you guys. You have a wopdful day. On wednesday police say masud killed four people after he drove an suv into a crowd and fatally shot a policeman. Masud worked in saudi arabia for several years. He didnt have a criminal record while he was there. Authorities in france have arrested two people accused of helping a man at a paris airport one week ago. Get the weapon that he put to a soldiers head. Police say the gunman was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when he staged the attack at pariss second busiest airport. They heard him yell that he is coming to quote, die for ala. After an armed burglary at a Jewelry Store happened inside at the belagio casino. Three men all Wearing Masks broke into the store. At first police and some of the hotel guests thought it may have been an active shooter situation because one of the burglars had apparently fired a shot and nobody was hurt. Authorities in Southern California have released a Surveillance Video. The fbi wants to question this man about the explosions at the cheese cake restaurant last month. Inside the restaurant the night of february 2nd. As you might imagine that caused a lot of chaos as people scramble to escape. No one was seriously hurt but the suspect seen here on the video was also seen throwing a piece of dark clothing into a trash can. The fbi is offering a reward up to 20,000 for any information that leads to tips and information that identifies the individual or groups involved in this act. The man is described as about 30 years old. Six feet tall weighing 160 pounds. Federal investigators say they still dont have a motive but they do not blee that this was an act of terrorism. Well the chp is investigating an accident on the interstate 280 freeway. That accident shut down all northbound lanes of the freeway for nearly two hours. The chp is looking for a car thats believed to be struck. Time now is 9 33 a Contra Costa County man is being arrested in his home in discovery bay. Investigators say the victims are between ages 14 and 16 years old. Authorities say burbank met at least one of the girls online and we think there could be more victims. Well this morning city crews in richmond are scheduled to begin work on a stormway. Near el fortal drive. A difrps in both the street paement and the sidewalk following weeks of heavy rain. The problem has affected traffic for the past few weeks. In 2010 a massive sink hole at that location led to a local and state emergency. And a tip from a marin county resident helped investigators catch a suspect. About an online purchase about an Apple Computer that they never made. So investigators worked with an employee at a nearby mail center and when that suspect came to pick up the package deputies nabbed him. Take a look at that pile of ids. 19 of them. Officials say the suspect was in possession of all of them as well as seven new apple macbook Pro Computers and three new irobot vacuums. California prison officials are adopting new rules that are aimed to dramatically trim the new state prison population. And they can do it in several ways including Good Behavior behind bars or if they earn a college degree. Under prop 57. California voters approving the ballot measure. Last year which has the goal of reducing the states prison population by 9500 inmates over the last five years. State leaders voted unanimously yesterday. The rules call for new cars and trucks to average 36 miles per gallon by 2025. Oakland mayor is determined to keep the Oakland Raiders in her city. Right now i have all my energy focused on convincing the raiders and the nfl ownership that oakland is the city to stay in. We are ready to build a stadium. The city of oakland, Alameda County finally unveiled their idea of what is needed to build a new raiders stadium here in oakland. What it shows is oakland has been busy. This plan comes days before the nfl owners are scheduled to vote on the team ys possible relocation to las vegas. Along with mixed use development and a possible expanded bart station. The city would pay 200 million for infrastructure. The remaining funds would come from vesseltors. Oaklands plan claims it would cost less than a stadium in las vegas. Since this site is ready for construction. Were talking about the 55 acres that right now is a surface parking lot. We can begin the environmental work. The Site Preparation while the raiders do the design work. But what does that mean for the oakland as. The as are exploring some areas where we have not already done the environmental clearance and the plan. And thats why they need that full lease term. For now the mayor says shes keeping the faith and hopes the raiders adopt leave oakland but if they do i know two fans that say theyre not supporting the team leaving again. The extended forecast cloudy, cooler, rain moving in tomorrow night chlgt thats what you can expect for your sunday. Monday we may start out with a few scattered showers. Temperatures drop back into the mid 60s by the amp and then were talking about sunny skies and 70s tuesday, wednesday, thursday. Looks like maybe even into the start of the weekend. Bring it on. I want to mention rosemary because i just got a message from cathy peterson. Can you mention. It was a huge deal they took 32 years to get to this point. They did not win the game but certainly we want to congratulate them on it. Fantastic season. Absolutely. The mission boys i think it was for a non private school in the state. Good job. Well it is a onceinalifetime opportunity. Were talking high School Students once again from all across the bay area getting a chance to see hamilton the musical in San Francisco earlier this week. Its a unique field trip that teaches students about the arts and our founding fathers. Its really cool, you know, its a great experience to see hamilton. Its the hottest ticket in town and wednesday afternoon more than 2000 High Schoolers from all across the bay area filed into the orfiem theater in San Francisco. Watching a matinee performance of the hit show hamilton. But this isnt a free ride. The students spent prior last naming the history the show is baseded on. My people dont want me to be anymore. Earlier in the day they showed off their hamilton inspired performances. Maybe for future generations will remember. This is all part of an Educational Program launched last year by the creators of a popular Broadway Musical about the life of our founding father alexander hamilton. The goal is to inspire students to find their own connection to american history. Its pretty cool. I mean like everyone is so excited for me to be doing do hamilton so that makes me excited to be here. Its just really exciting. Bay area native ryan vasquez plays James Reynolds in the show and mcd wednesdays event. Its cool to be able to show kids who wouldnt otherwise have the support system to pursue a career in the arts to be able to do so. Vasquez says its great to give back to the community and thinks the students can take lessons of the past and apply them to the events happening today. This show is going to open a lot of minds and its gong to make people reflect on the fact that our country is a country of imgrapts that built something amazing from immigrants that built something amazing from nothing. And the guilder lairman institute of american history. And if youd like a review, my coanchor here saw it a weekend or two ago. Yeah, and it was amazing. And i will tell you i was talking to someone about it and i said it was like this amazing History Lesson that made you excited to learn more and thats remarkable that everyone was coming out of there going i want to know more and it gives you a different way of looking at things hands down. Last sunday i said was it worth it and you said the most amazing show ever. And i had a friend who said so many things these days are overly hyped this was not one of them and i agree. And theyre all sold out. Yes. Good stuff. Coming up remembering Harrison Ford well you might remember that near miss on an Orange County runway. This morning were hearing how he explains his mistake to the air Traffic Controller. He called himself a smuk. Coming up. And for the first time now we are hearing the conversation between the actor and air Traffic Control. Im the smuck that landed on the taxi way. I was distracted by the. So. Distracted by the airline there moving when i turned to the runway and also the turbulence from the landing gear. I love it how the guy in air Traffic Control is being very formal and Harrison Ford i dont know if you heard it hes like im the smuk that landed on the runway and then he just wanted to tell his side of the story. He doesnt have to act. The 74yearold also said he got confuseded by the jet on the runway. Thankfully no one was hurt. If youre thinking about what you want for breakfast today may be a perfect day for waffles. But every day is a good day for waffles. Its a day that was first celebrating in sweden. When it comes to toppings americans stand united. They love their maple syrup. 62 of people surveyed said they would choose syrup if they were forced to choose just one topping. 10 said butter. That big huge thing of butter. And other popular waffle toppings but wait what about whipped cream. Oh,. I like the central berries with the syrup. Peanut butters good too. Yum yum.
