Good afternoon. Im tori campbell. An investigation is underway into the death of a man who was killed after he fell onto interstate 880 in hayward. Tara moriarty joins us live to explain why investigators are trying to figure out what happened in the moments before the lan landed on the freeway man landed on the freeway. Tara . Reporter police say the man jumped from the freeway overpasses but the reasons behind why he jumped could possibly determine if this will be classified as a suicide or homicide. It snarled traffic for three hours and a gruesome scene on 880 southbound after a man fell from the industrial parkway overpass. Authorities say he jumped but they are not yet sure why. If he jumped because he was trying to evade someone who was trying to harm him, then you could have a potential homicide charge. Reporter the man was immediately struck by a big rig and killed. Officers say they have a witness. They are looking into whether some sort of fight took place before the incident. He was unsure. There might have been some kind of verbal confrontation with somebody. I dont know, which resulted in this gentleman going over the overcrossing. Thats still under investigation. Reporter police have not revealed the maents identity. There is a homeless encampment nearby. But wont say if thats linked to the case. We did speak with Hayward Police moments ago. The end to the toddler killed in a hitandrun accident in San Francisco friday night is now in police custody. Officers arrested lorysha gage in the tragic incident of her niece because she was spongessible for the toddler at the time of her death. They say she walked in the middle of the crosswalk with the little girl against the light, then left the little girl unattended in the middle of the busy Mission Street to go back to the curb and get the toddlers twin brother. The investigation showed some evidence that there was some child neglect that resulted in the death of the 2 yearold toddler. Gage has been looked into county jail on felony child endangerment charges. Police are still looking for the hitandrun driver. They say this is a picture of the car. Its a light colored toyota camry, honda or lexus, the car has dark colored bumper and rims. Fen in with information is asked to contact police. A patient remains in quarantine in a sacramento hospital after possible exposure to the ebola virus. Brian flores has an update. Good afternoon. Hospital officials didnt say much, only that this patient is being tested for possible ebola. At this hour it remains unconfirmed that the patient has it. Were learning thatpation is being isolated in a specially equipped negative pressure room at the kaiser South Sacramento memorial center. In a statement to ktvu, hospital Officials Say trained staff are using personal proeffective equipment and are coordinating with Infectious Disease specialists. The cdc is testing blood samples. It remains unclear if he traveled to west africa. But they say the tests are likely a precaution. Experts also say not to pan zblik people who have been in the region or in contact with people in the region are being supervigilant. They are going to the hospital with the slightette sign of illness. Another woman in new mexico is being tested for possible ebola as well. Shes also bebe quarantined at a hospital there. Police in fairfield are searching for a man who they believe is responsible for three Sexual Assault cases in two days. On august 2nd, police say a man made sexual comments to a woman walking near northwood drive. About 15 minutes later, a man came up behind a 16yearold girl who was jogging near oak brook drive and sexually assaulted her. The next day, police say a woman jogging near summer grove drive was also sexually assaulted. Here is a Police Sketch of the suspect. In all three cases, victims describe the man as white, 18 to 20 years old, and about 57 to 58. He has a slim build, short light brown or reddish hair and a thin beard. A San Francisco grandmother is recovering this afternoon after being hurt in an Early Morning fire at her home. It started around 1 30 this morning at a home near the intersection of miramar and ocean avenues. Firefighters say the 77year old woman, who owns the home, suffered smoke inhalation during the fire and was taken to the hospital but later released. Four family members were sleeping in the home when they heard what sounded like an explosion in the garage. Everybody is okay. You know, we pay the bills and we got insurance, of course. Everything will be all right. The familys dog also had to be rescued from the house. Firefighters gave the pet oxygen after it took in smoke during the fire. Firefighters are not calling the fire suspicious but an arson investigator was called into the scene. Crews have the fire about 40 contained. A wildfire burning north of bakersfield has grown to 4300 acres. It begannant the Sequoia National forest. Some buildings are threatened. This weather system has been dropping down to the south, down towards Southern California keying the temperatures on the cool and mild side. Well warm things up a little bit as we head into thursday. He shot it of a he claims a coyote came after his 6year old daughter luna. He said he managed to scare the animal off. But he came back a second time so he scared it off again.
