Fire department got the call just before 2 45 this morning to a home long the 2600 block of manton street with three people trapped inside. Fire fighters were able to rescue two adults and that baby. Just an incredible job accounts great rescues tonight by our fire tighters, outstanding patient care by our medics, as they always do. Reporter according to the Red Paw Emergency Relief Team one cat did not survive, one pit bull displaced but everyone including the baby are in stable condition. They arrested a 27 yearold man last night for stolen computers. Neighbors say that smash and grab happened all the time in that area. Eyewitness News Health Reporter Stephanie Stahl tells us more about amanda. Hi. Reporter amanda jordannellie, shes a nurse with the special insight and long history with st. Christophers hospital for children. I only ever wanted to work here. Reporter shes 22 and just got the job. Her journey here started 14 years ago when she was diagnosed with leukemia. But now, nurses that took care of me i wouldnt be here. Reporter many of them are still around and reminisce with the scrap book made by amandas mom. That is when my hair was falling out. Reporter she was seven battling blood cancer and spent countless hours getting treatment at the hospital. I remember one of the first nights she was diagnosed i remember it. It is wonderful that she grew up to have such a wonderful life after what she went through as a patient. Reporter now 11 years in remission amanda is paying it forward. I have to give back what the nurses gave me and a sense, and and we want them to know that we are here to take care of them. She want bring something to this job that in of us can do because she has been through it, she has a personal story. Reporter cancer survivor who knows what it is like to be little, sick, scared now helping the next generation of patients. I know how to talk to them, i know what they are scared of because i was afraid of the same things. Reporter having to just start her nursing career amanda is working with a variety of different patients new and she hopes to go back to school to become a nurse regard, and eventually work in oncology, with young cancer patients. About 10,000 showed up to celebrate cities veterans and just a few hours were hoping that more will show up this year but as you can see, set up is already underway, even though parade doesnt start until noon. We have volunteers and workers setting up the stage here at sixth and market. There will be bleachers where dignitaries will speak and then over on fifth street leading to third street there will be a veterans festival. Look at the video of the parade which includes 150 different veterans groups from all arms of the military, they will begin marching at noon today around 16th and jfk. They will come down, around city hall and at the same time they will march all the way down market, and right here at sixth and market at 12 30 the all veteran paratrooper group will do a spectacular paratrooper jump and land in front of the independent mall and then a flight of a10 aircraft will fly east west toward starting point of the parade. There will be 300 met or cycles that will speak down Market Street and once parade is over there is a festival with the Rock Climbing Wall food vendors and dozens of Veterans Service organizations, and were hoping thousands of spectators come to show some appreciation to those veterans, according to terry williamson, president of the philadelphia veterans parade.
