Train delays with switching problems at rockaway parkway. And the l. I. E. Westbound really bunching up now at jericho turnpike with an accident being cleared and its a gridlock alert day. Who attacked a High School Student on her way to school. 16yearold girl recovering with serious wounds to her face and her neck random assault. Eyewitness News Reporter kala rama is live now in whitestone with a look at the suspect. Reporter lori that 16year old girl was slashed twice in the face, one from the left ear all the way down to her throat leaving major scar. It all happened while she was walking to school on this very street. And the worst part about this the attacker is still on the loose. Hes last seen wearing a surgical mask and white gloves and Surveillance Footage of the attack. Police say he didnt say anything to the girl, but followed the teen whos a Foreign Exchange student from china while she was walking to whitestone academy. Just offcamera he pushes her across the face with that box cutter. He then drops the box cutter and turns the other way and takes off running. The victim was able to run home and call 911 covered in blood. It appears this is a random attack and the girl and suspect dont know each other. This has the community worried. Theres no excuse for a young girl whos going to school to be attacked. And they shouldnt feel fearful of the torts authorities, we comfortable just working with assailants. Reporter the victim has eight months here. Studying. She is now in the hospital in stable condition surrounded by family and hopes she can feel safe again. And new this morning, an off duty nypd officer is facing 33yearold jacob sabaw was arrested in sun is the park yesterday after an internal affairs investigation. Its unclear where exactly the abuse took place. The officer will be arraigned brooklyn criminal court. In new jersey, we are working to learn more about the man charged with killing a mother inside her home. 36yearold Roberto Grillo is old yolanda vega. She was found dead inside her home on december 7th in rahway. Family police say. But they have not yet released a motive behind the killing. 6 04 and now a developing story and lawyers in the gray death case will meet with the judge today to discuss dates for a possible retrial. Declared a mistrial. The same Baltimore Neighborhood that exploded in riots after gray died in april remained relatively calm overnight. Well, new this morning, three nypd officers are being credited for jumping into action to save a life. These officers knew exactly what to do under some very extreme hectic circumstances, very important they move quickly because there was a speeding train moving in that mans death. They were wrapping up conducting bag checks here at the times square station on 42nd street last night at around 7 00. When they heard someone yelling that a man has palmen onto the 2 3 express tracks, one officer used his flashlight to signal the train conductor to slow the train down to a crawl. Meanwhile, lieutenant moore and officer tufano reached down and pulling him off the tracks in the nick of time. The man who had fallen onto the tracks told the officers he had no idea what happened what cause him to lose his footing and fall onto the tracks. On the east 19th street in paterson at about 12 30 this morning. Some of the the heaviest fire was at the back of the building and no one was hurt and unknown number of people have been displaced. A disturbing story. A teenaged girl is recovering this morning from a random attack carried out police say by the man you see there on your screen. Hes accused of stalking and then slashing his victim. Simply as she walked to school. And it happened about 24 hours ago near 147th street and 13th avenue. Nine months after a toddlers sudden death in east harlem, authorities are now revealing he was murdered. 2yearold rashid washingtons mother called 9 1 from their east 126th street apartment back in march. She told police he had fallen and later found him not breathing but autopsy results show internal bruising and bleeding as well. Arrested. And were seeing our first images this morning of two men wanted for a road rage shooting in the meat packing district. The man in the hat is the suspected gunman. The one in the hoodie is considered a person of interest. In a car accident on the street last week. The suspected gunman tried to rob the other driver and then shot him during an ensuing struggle. The victim did survive. Of 35 and can be 6 35 and one of the men involved in a highly Controversial Police shooting death is being promoted today. Nypd officer kenneth boss is being elevated to detective. The 21 year veteran was one of four officers acquitted in the 1999 shooting of amadou diallo. He was killed in the vestibule of his bronx building as he reached for his wallet. M. Aponte used the light to signal an on coming train to slow down. While the other two cops reached down and pulled the man to safety. He couldnt explain what had happened but he declined any officers and then simply left the station. In nebraska sheriffs deputy put his life on the line when he jumped into a moving truck to save the driver. The whole thing was caught on dashcam. Officers were surrounded the semi was the driver was having a medical issue and lost control of the vehicle. When it slowed down enough the deputy jumped into the truck and was able to hit the brakes. The driver was having a diabetic episode and is recovering now. Well done officer. That 16yearold girl is now in stable condition in the hospital after surgery. She has deep scars and her attacker is still out there.
