Bill lived here in the neighborhood for 22 years. Still he has yet to receive anything from Carolina Water Service notifying him one of his neighbors had elevated lead levels in their drinking water. Amazed they did not notify us especially with all the attention that they have had over the last few years. He is not the only one waiting on the company for more information. This woman asked to not be identified. One of the things we did ask communication. Because it seems to be lacking as well. And for us not to be communicated bothered me. Levels. We reached out to the epa to see if others could be at risk and they said that lead exposures happens most frequently in older homes, apartments because of flushing systems and homes with to protect your family the epa recommends flushing your pipes 1530 seconds before drinking only consuming cold tap water and getting your water tested if you have concerns. As far the families here in fox wood, Carolina Water Service says it is sending out notices and will do more sample testing for three years to make sure lead levels meet requirements. If you ever thought about suicide and ever entertained that notion or considered suicide as an option, three words dont do it. That just a short clip of a personal video posted on facebook today by our david whisenant. Personal because 29 years ago today david lost his dad to suicide. David is live in our salisbury bureau and you have been open about your story a message so many people should hear. I appreciate that. It for the last five years because i felt led to tell people how serious this is. And frankly, i feel like the guy that runs out and goes down the road and see where the bridge is washed out and i want to turn around and wave my arms and say the bridge is washed out. Do not go down this road of suicide. Folks sometimes think it is a noble act or sacrifice. Its cold and brutal and ugly. In the case of my father, his suicide took place 29 years ago tonight. Literally three blocks. His office was on the same side of this street up the road. And i am convinced that if he had known for a moment how bad that act was going to hurt me and my brother and my sister and my mother and the rest of our family and friends he would not have done it. No doubt that he loved us. But i think sometimes people who dont consider the damage that is going to be left behind a tremendous burden that friends and family and loved one are going to face and that is why i felt like in the last few years i needed to be out front and tell you dont ever look at that as an option do not consider it and comes down for me, three words.
