Prosecutors will call more witnesses in the misconduct of a Gloucester County police officer. Washington township officer bonaventura faces charges. The officer claims moriarty you see him here was driving drunk. The case though was thrown out amid claims the officer falsified reports. Moriarty believes he was targeted by political opponents. We have new information now on the trial of a former music teacher accused of molesting his Young Students in Chester County and tom fullman was scheduled to plead guilty in two cases hes facing. Prosecutors say he molested six students while teaching at the Malvern School of music. His new attorney said his client never agreed to that plea. Instead, hes ready to take the case to trial. Fullman is accused of abusing several young kids during private piano lessons. In Burlington County police are looking for two men who robbed and roughed up a man inside his home. You see them there. The Home Invasion took place sunday night in medford. Police say the men came through the victims home duct taped him to a chair and beat him with a pipe. Were told they got away with some cash and stole his cadillac. Its scary, you know when its right here because that type of thing doesnt happen in medford. Now look at this. Investigators found these two bicycles in the woods near the victims home. They believe thats how the robbers arrived. Some sad news at cbs this morning. Longtime 60 minutes correspondent bob simon died in a car accident in new york city last night. Police say simon was riding in a car that collided with another car and then hit metal poles on manhattans west side. Simons career spanned five decades. He covered everything from the vietnam war to selma. Bob simon was 73 years old. Were learning more now about the criminal history of that man accused of attacking a woman at a center city train station in broad daylight. We have this photo of officers arresting reginald green. They know him well. Police say theyve arrested him at least ten other times including for charges of indecent exposure and shoplifting. This time attempted rape robbery and assault. Surveillance video was the key to catching him yesterday. Hes accused of sexual assaulting and attacking a woman at the station on monday. Philadelphia police say theyve caught the man who was wanted for a series of hotel holdups. We brought you that story in december about that chain of hotel heists. Police arrested George Meriwether last friday. Hes charged with robbery, aggravated assault and other crimes. Investigators say meriwether was caught on surveillance cameras during several of the robberies. Hes accused of hitting hotels near the airport and in Delaware County during a threeday crime spree last december. Plus in bucks county are trying to solve the mystery of this empty atm. They say someone found this machine behind a Shopping Center on lincoln highway in falls township. Police believe the atm was stolen probably a safe bet. In North Carolina authorities are trying to determine if the murders of three College Students were a case of parking lot rage or a hate crime. Last night the university of North Carolina held a candlelight vigil for the victims who were all muslim. Hours earlier, the suspected gunman, craig hicks, was given a public defender in court. His wife who was seeking a divorce said religion played no part in the killings. Her lawyer said hicks was angry over the victims parking hacketthabits at their condo complex. The trial of the former marine accused of american sniper chris kyle is under way in texas. Kyles widow fought back tears as she being too the stand on opening day of testimony yesterday. Prosecutors say Eddie Ray Routh killed kyle and his friend at a gun range two years ago. Yesterday Defense Attorneys showed a text kyle sent to littlefield shortly before they died. Kyle texted quote, this dude is straightup nuts. Routh has admitted to killing the men. The jury has to decide if hes guilty of capital murder or whether hes not guilty by reason of insanity. An Italian Court has found the captain of the Costa Concordia guilty of the deaths of 32 people. The captain abanded the cruise ship as passengers and crew were still on board in 2012. The Court Sentenced him to 16 years in prison. Well the future of the keystone xl pipeline is now in the hands of president obama. He has told us what he is going to do with that. The house passed a bill to build that Controversial Oil pipeline which would connect canada with Gulf Coast Oil refineries. President obama has threatened to veto the bill amid concerns it could raise emissions linked to global warming. It doesnt appear the house or senate has enough votes to override that veto. President obama has asked congress to formally authorize the use of military force against isis. The proposed authorization would be limited to three years and would allow the u. S. To take the fight to wherever isis goes. But it does not call for Ground Combat at least not a ground offensive. A senate panel will hold hearings at the end of this month, and a vote could come in march. A Philadelphia Community came together to voice its frustrations with police. We know where you live. The goal of the town hall meeting last night was to improve relations between police and the community. There were several heated exchanges, though. One was generated by the mother of brandon tate brown. Trying hard to show a different side. I believe were in a good place now. Weve done a lot of positive things, and were doing a lot of positive things in the community. Now, police shot and killed brandon tatebrown last december after police say he reached for a gun. The officers involved in that shooting are on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. More police may be hitting the streets in wilmington now that a state panel approved grant money to temporarily pay for increased patrols. The attorney general requested that money. Six officers will get overtime pay to work night patrols seven days a week in some of the most dangerous neighborhoods. Wilmingtons homicide rate jumped 53 from 2013 to 2014. There have been seven homicides so far this year alone. Wilmington reassigned nearly 30 officers to highcrime areas last month. The city is also getting help from Newcastle County police. This man entrusted with protecting the law said he broke it on purpose to prove a point. Northampton county d. A. Says he did not pay a recent parking ticket in easton because he said the ticket had no instructions on how to appeal in court. The mayor said tickets in his city are appealed through the police department. But he said instructions will be added to the tickets now. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf says his proposal for a new tax on Natural Gas Drilling will help boost education in the state. Governor wolf kicked off his schools that teach tour in Chester County yesterday. Nbc 10 was at callan Elementary School where wolf said his tax proposal could generate 1 billion a year. He said the money would help restore Public School funding that was cut under former governor tom corbett. You cannot continue to disinvest in our education system. This is our future for all of us. President Vladimir Putin Just Announced during a News Conference a ceasefire has been brokered for eastern ukraine. It will go into effect midnight saturday. Now, russia as you know has sent troops into that part of ukraine one year ago, last february. A lot of fighting there. Rebels had seized control of that part of the country, prorussian rebels. And remember the malaysian airliner was shot down as those two sides fought. So again, the big news this morning, russian president Vladimir Putin announcing a ceasefire will take effect midnight saturday. Putin is still speaking. Officials have now issued a warning to commuters after a person with measles has apparently been riding on a Bay Area Rapid transit or b. A. R. T. , thats their version of septa. Officials believe that person also at at a popular San Francisco restaurant and may have exposed his coworkers at linkedin. Experts are now trying to trace that persons movements and alert anyone who had contact with them. Officials at a college in the poconos are trying to figure out what caused dozens of students to become sick. At least 42 students at East Stroudsburg university came down with a stomach virus. The school doesnt think this has anything to do with the Dining Service on campus there, but workers did disinfect the dining hall just in case. Were doing everything we can to minimize the spread so well be doing extra sanitizing in some of those spaces where people are more in close quarters like the Dining Service, like in our residence halls. The university is now coordinating its efforts with the Pennsylvania Department of health. Doctors and researchers have reported a major advance in the treatment of strokes. Stroke experts say brain stents similar to the ones used to open heart arteries. Stroke patients treated with stents were less likely to die or become disabled. The treatment was so successful in three recent studies that researchers actually cut those studies short so they could offer stents to more patients.
