You see them standing on the porch here in the 5200 block. His mother told me the last time she saw her son was at the conclusion of the eagles game last night. Im talking because i want people to see from my eyes that he was a good guy. Reporter Tonya Dickerson says her 26yearold son had a jovial spirit despite a difficult past. Brandon tate brown spent five years in prison for beating another man but since his release family members say he had gotten a job with hertz rental cars and recently moved into his own apartment. Earlier this morning tate brown was killed in an officer involved shooting in mayfair. Investigators say two 15th district officers pulled him over for driving this dodge rental with no headlights. They also noticed a handgun wedged inside the front seat and console. Now, they ordered him out of the car, and that escalated into a fight. Police say tate brown then ran back to the car, reached for the gun that was wedged in between the Center Console and passenger seat prompting one of the officers to fire. I would like to know why the police, law enforcement, has the right to kill instead of disabling . It has to stop. This is enough already. Dickerson and her family say they have already contacted the naacp to help with an external investigation. The officers involved in this Police Involved shooting are on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. One of the officers was transported to a hospital. Hes in stable condition. He suffered a stress attack after this incident. The family very dubious about the report, at least the early one, from police that their son was driving with no headlights on a rental car and that is what prompted the police stop. Within the last 90 Minutes Police stormed a cafe in downtown sydney where gunmen had been holding an unknown number of people hostage. Police are not releasing any other details. We do know that several people were taken out of the cafe on stretchers. Police have identified the gunman as a man born in iran, is known to police in the area. Investigators are not giving a motive for the attack. Police in belgium have arrested three men after reports of another hostage situation. Officers stormed an Apartment Building this morning after someone reported seeing three armed men go inside. Today a Delaware County family is getting some help from the red cross after fire destroyed their home yesterday. The family of eight was able to escape after the basement of their home on 22nd street in chester caught fire. Crews faced extra obstacles after a hose broke and they had to run back to the truck to get another. The fire was under control in 15 minutes though. The family includes two babies and two toddlers. A friend of the family talked with nbc 10 and said a lot of familys possessions were destroyed. Just really clothing for the babies would be our main concern because they said there were smoke damage so a lot of the baby stuff was damaged. The cause of that fire is under investigation. Meantime, donations are pouring in to help the family left homeless by this house fire in Delaware County that killed a woman and left a man in critical condition. Three children and their father were hurt. The father was trying to rescue the kids. The kids are expected to be released from the hospital in the next two days but their dad is in critical condition. Investigators think that the fire started on the back porch. The Bike Sharing Program will begin in the spring, but nbc 10 got a sneak peek of what the bikes look like and how they will work and there will be 700 bikes docked at various locations around philadelphia and riders will buy a monthly membership pass that will cost a few dollars a week. The easy way we describe that is if its too far to walk, if its too short or inconvenient to ride transit or its going to be too hard to park, its a perfect ride for bike share. Riders can keep the bikes for about an hour. Lax enforcement of traffic laws means more dangerous drivers are on the roads. Police cite far fewer drivers right now than they did 15 years ago. It says there were more than 818,000 outstanding arrest warrants for moving violations in september and about a third of those were for serious offenses. Police commissioner Charles Ramsey acknowledged his focus has been on Violent Crime because drivers with outstanding warrants must be arrested. The clouds though right over center city are hanging in there with a light breeze, and temperatures in the 40s right now. Were watching, weve seen a break or two of sunshine, but mostly it is just gray and dry until tomorrow when well see a cold front arrive with a possibility of some light showers during the day. For now all that activity is way to the west, moving through the midwest. The heavier showers are in the south, mississippi and alabama. Just some light scattered showers in illinois reaching into wisconsin. Not a very impressive system, not for our area. You can see the heavier downpours just moving into northeastern mississippi heading into alabama. The temperatures for us today climbing only into the upper 40s this afternoon. Thats typical for this time of year however, and tomorrow well be in the upper 40s as rain drops move in.
