Right now it is clear, 55 degrees in philadelphia. 55 will turn into about 75 degrees this afternoon, but that brilliant sunshine we saw yesterday, that will be taking a break later today. 50 in trenton, 53 in wilmington, while its 53 in northeast philadelphia. Millville is in the low 50s and 40s north and west for pottstown and allentown. We are completely dry now, but you dont have to look far to see the rain that is heading for our area. Some spots will see it later today. For most of the day, though, philadelphia will be dry and sunny to start with, but the sunshine does not last. Cool to begin with, too. 61 degrees at 9 00. This is new into our system in willingboro, rockland drive at roxborough place, an accident at that intersection. Were also following an accident in carneys point, new jersey. Turnpike southbound approaching the delaware memorial bridge. It happened a few hours ago, but it does involve an overturned tractortrailer, so a lot of cleanup has to go on. Two lanes are blocked in that area, but traffic can get by. Heading to 95 right near the Commodore Barry bridge, you can see cones set up on the southbound side. We have some construction out there. Still out there right now, but as you can see, its not slowing any traffic down. Tracy . All right, jillian, thanks. 4 32 right now. Were following breaking news from overnight. A pregnant woman is shot and killed. Her baby was delivered but did not survive. The man she was with also shot. Nbc 10s katy zachry is live in the ogontz section of philadelphia. Reporter tracy, for the second time in as many weeks, Philadelphia Police are on the scene of a deadly shooting involving a pregnant woman who, sadly, her child who was delivered via emergency delivery has died. Thats the latest word we got from police. Let me back up and tell you when it all started. It was just before 1 00 this morning that police were called to the ogontz section of the city at 20th and nedro. There were multiple calls that came in about a shooting. When police got on scene and im told they arrived within seconds of those calls and the shooting happening they found two victims who were lying on the sidewalk right where you see many of the detectives standing right now. They were between this white chevy impala and the store front. And if we look to the sidewalk, you can see a number of evidence markers detailing evidence. Many bullet casings were found at the scene. Police believe that what happened was over on the corner if we move to the right along 20th street. Two people were sitting in the car right at this intersection. They believe they were shot and then the woman who they believe was in the drivers seat pressed the gas, moved the car forward. It ended up on the sidewalk, and then the victims stumbled out and police found them. They were taken to einstein medical center, only several blocks away from here. Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead there. Her 26yearold, who Police Believe is her boyfriend, is in Critical Condition. He was shot twice. Fortunately, detectives are able to talk to him. Heres what police are saying about the emergency csection they did of the womans baby. The doctors did what they can. They delivered the baby, and they worked on the baby for over an hour, but the baby was pronounced dead at 2 18 a. M. And the information were receiving, its preliminary, but the female was eight months pregnant at the time. Reporter and were told the baby that passed was a little girl. Detectives out here from the Homicide Division have a vague description, im told, of one man who was running from the scene. There are several witnesses in this neighborhood who were the first ones who called police who are being interviewed by homicide detectives right now. There are also, fortunately, surveillance cameras in this neighborhood. There are some businesses here, but its predominantly residential. Police are right now trying to get their hands on that Surveillance Video. And to give you perspective, i said, were just a few blocks from einstein medical center, but were even closer to lasalle university. A lot of students live two blocks from where were standing, so there was a representative from lasalle here, just making sure that everything was fine and not involving any students from that university. So, were in a busy area, a lot of things going on here, and Police Expect to be out here for the next hour gathering evidence. Reporting live in ogontz, katy zachry, nbc 10 news. And this is the second time this month a pregnant woman was shot and killed in philadelphia. Megan doto died september 14th. Doctors delivered her baby girl, but the child died several hours later. Police are still looking for a suspected drug dealer they say fired the bullet that killed both mother and daughter. Authorities expect three people to turn themselves in this morning to face charges in the attack of a gay couple in center city, philadelphia. Investigators say philip williams, Kevin Harrigan and katherine knott, all from bucks county, will face charges of assault, Reckless Endangerment and conspiracy. Sources tell nbc 10 knott is the daughter of the police chief of chalfont. Last week, Police ReleasedSurveillance Video showing a group of possible suspects walking near the scene of that attack that happened on september 11th. There you see the video. The victims say they were beaten because they are gay. Lawyers for those who face charges dispute that. Now, the victims released this statement yesterday after the d. A. Made the announcement about the pending arrest warrants, saying, thank you to the community for their help and support as well as the detectives who did a great job gathering details. We are thankful the d. A. Is working so hard to make sure this doesnt happen again in philadelphia. 4 36. Now the latest on the casino crisis. Revel casino hotel could soon have a new owner. It goes up for auction later this morning. Revel Officials Say it has received multiple bids but only one thats been made public so far. Thats the 90 million offer from a florida developer. The casino costs more than 2 billion to build. It closed on september 2nd. Also, Atlantic City plans to ask the state for permission to lay off some city workers to help balance the citys budget. It also wants to reopen most Union Contracts for city workers to cut costs. It is unknown how many workers might be targeted. Some who support the tax, though, say that a longterm solution for the funding for schools has to be found. Well, a community is in shock this morning because a local gym teacher was busted for his alleged relationship with a student. Hes also a coach. Just last week, the Community Rallied around barber and his family to raise money for their 4yearold daughter who has cancer. Well, the search is over for the philadelphia man whos accused of killing a 15yearold girl when a fight broke out. 19yearold darian person turned himself in around 7 00 last night. This was the scene a few hours earlier than that when u. S. Marshals busted open the door to his home on rowan street when they were trying to find him. He wasnt there. On monday, 15yearold aisha abdurrhaman was walking with another girl on old york road in front of einstein hospital when she was hit and killed by a stray bullet. Her funeral is tomorrow. Clouds will be moving in during the day and will lead to some rain, possibly by late today, right along the coastline and parts of delaware. Thats nine degrees warmer than yesterday at 56 degrees, but theres still some chilly spots out there, including temperatures in the 40s farther north and west. Low 50s in wilmington, northeast philadelphia and trenton, but wrights town, cherry hill, Washington Township in the 40s. Chester springs is down to 45 degrees this morning along with quakertown. Bluebell is chilly at 46 degrees. And its in the 50s this morning but still falling in delaware. Its not going to cool off quite as quickly as it did yesterday morning. 40s for clayton. Mt. Holly is at 48 degrees to start with. There you can see the clouds inching into the area. Theyre thicker to the south. Go farther to the south, and theyre producing rain in parts of virginia already. That will be here later today right along the coast as the clouds take over by 10 00 this morning. Meantime, north and west, sunshine it will be bright, sunny skies to start with for allentown, at 65 degrees, but the clouds will be increasing by the afternoon. Youll see mostly cloudy skies well inland. And the first sign of showers at the shore. So, sunshine to start with, yes. One flood victim took this video of a catfish splashing its way down the road as floodwaters came into subdivisions and sent homeowners looking for higher ground. Passengers on a Southwest Airlines jet had to evacuate down the plane slide yesterday following an Emergency Landing in austin. It happened after the pilot reported an odor in the cabin. There was no smoke and southwest is looking for the source of the smell. No one was hurt. The murders touched off a war between israel and hamas militants in gaza that lasted nearly two months. New charges have been filed in the case of a missing university of virginia student. An arrest warrant was issued late yesterday for Jesse Matthew jr. Police believe he was the last person to see Hannah Graham before she vanished on september 13th. Matthew was considered a person of interest, but hes now wanted for abduction with the intent to defile. This morning, the pastor of a man who killed two people and himself at a workplace shooting in alabama describes the man as being troubled over his work and financial situation. Police say the man gunned down two former bosses at a u. P. S. Warehouse yesterday, then turned the gun on himself. Investigators say the alleged gunman was fired from his job on monday. A grand jury in western new york is now hearing testimony as it determines whether charges should be filed against nascar driver tony stewart. Stewarts car, of course, struck and killed another driver at a dirt track race on august 9th. The other driver had gotten out of his car and seemed to be upset with stewart. Authorities say stewart is cooperating with the investigation. This morning we have new numbers on how many unaccompanied minors are crossing the border coming into the u. S. Heres a look at a statebystate breakdown for where theyre coming in our region. From january through august 31st, 168 children were released to sponsors in delaware, 513 in pennsylvania and 2,200 kids in new jersey. The office for Refugee Resettlement helped compile those numbers. The agency takes custody of children without parents who are detained by immigration authorities. Federal law requires those children to be fed, sheltered and given medical care until they can be safely released to sponsors. Well, police say theyre finding more and more driving under the influence cases that involve drugs, and that includes prescription medication. North Coventry Police say theyve had a rise in alcohol and drugs combined dui cases. Newhanover police say theyve seen more duis related to prescription drugs in the last five years. And lower pottsgroves police chief says hes also seen an increase. The auditor for the city of wilmington will be reviewing police overtime. The news journal reports that payments totaled over 3 million last year. That helps the salaries of officers above the 100,000 mark. They will also be looking at overtime pay in the fire department, which has dropped in recent years. There are a few clouds that have started to move into the area. Thats a trend thats going to continue during the day today. With those clouds, the temperatures are a little bit higher than yesterday. We dont have any 30s this morning, but were still seeing readings in the 40s and 50s. Pottstown, allentown in the 40s. 40s for mt. Holly, while its 53 in northeast philadelphia and wilmington. Here come the clouds. Theyre just starting to arrive in philadelphia. You can see the darker clouds or the brighter clouds with heavier rainfall is well to the south and offshore, too, but the motion you see here is going to continue during the day. Eventually, the clouds will reach well inland. And later today we could actually see some rain at the shore. The future rain showing the clouds taking over to start with, then late this afternoon showers just offshore of cape may. Then theyll move in during the evening hours into the philadelphia area. Thats 10 00 tonight. Then look at the heavy rainfall offshore. Some of that may be coming inland. We could see some heavy downpours. The possibility of delaware getting some of those heavy downpours, but especially in new jersey. Thats 2 00 in the morning. Potentially heavy rain from Atlantic City to just short of the i95 corridor. Then that rain pushes through, but it will still be raining for much of the commute tomorrow morning.
