As you can see hundreds of protesters brought this entire meeting to a stand still more than once. I want to show you what happened a few moments ago. You saw protesters there singing in an effort to disrupt the vote that the Pinelands Commission has to make today. This is all about the plan to build an oil pipeline through the pinelands forest. Protesters are concerned about what that could mean f. They feel they didnt have enough time to review Public Comments. The public will not be allowed to speak until a decision is made here. There was a second on a motion to table the vote for another day. That was overruled by commissioners who were ready to move forward today and that was the result. We talked to one of the people who have to organize this protest. Here is what is at stake. Its important because 40 years after the act was passed, to save almost a million acres of open space, its being threatened by this pipeline thats unneeded and necessary and dangerous. Today officials will look for the cause of this fire that engulf a ramada inn. Nbc 10 was the first tv crew on the scene as flames shot through the roof early this morning forcing sleeping guests to evacuate. Reporter two people had injuries from this fire. One was a Police Officer who had smoke inhalation. To the other was a guest staying in the room where the fire believed to have started. Take a look at this hotel. A lot of the damage is here in the back of the building. Take a look at what this fire was like earlier this morning around 1 30, 2 00 in the morning. Much more intense. Firefighters responded to a fire alarm. The fire is believed to have started in a room on a second floor spreading to a hallway and through the attic. It spread through the roof from there. We spoke with some hotel guest who is were sleeping at the time. We had there was way too much stuff going on. Didnt know what was going on. It was the police outside. They said get out of here. All i got was clothes on and wallet. Reporter the vineland fire chief says firefighters pulled up to see guests trying to escape the flames of smoke when they showed up. They were hanging out the window. Throwing their belongings out the window. Reporter 28 people who were affected by this fire are being put up in another hotel. The investigation is just beginning. The guest was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation and burns. Fire ripped through a house up in Montgomery County overnight. Officials tweeted this video. That fire started in a second floor bedroom around 12 30 this morning. No one was hurt. Right now President Trump is speaking at a conservative conference in maryland. Investigators in california are pouring over witness accounts and video like you see here involving a confrontation between an off duty officer who pulled a gun and a teenager that officer fired a shot. Reporter Anaheim Police say this was the First Physical confrontation between an off duty l. A. Police officer and a group of teens after a series of previous complaints about neighborhood kids trampling the officers lawn. The confrontation quickly escalated as the officer and teen argue. I said im going to sue you. Reporter after struggling with the boy for several minutes the officer was surrounded by teenagers and tackled by one of them before pulling a gun, firing a single shot. Police say the officer felt threatened and made the decision to use force. The video shows an adult wrestling with a 13yearold kid and ultimately firing a gun. What bothers me is the lack of funding for music programs. I said im going to start my own foundation. Im going throw my own fund raisers to try to raise awareness and money for arts program. Thats how this came about. So many people were feeling this musician deaths, celebrity deaths struck a cord. Tell us about the nonprofit and how youll be using the money thats raised. Theres a couple of rounds. Its about a month long process. You keep going until you get to the final end. Its about 60 girls. They pick the team from there. Youve been a cheerleader for how long . This is my second season. Two years in youve gotten to do some cool stuff. I was in a military base in the end of the indian ocean. We got to go there during the super bowl to lift the spirits and visit our troops out there. It was really amazing. Sglst its a support mission for members of the military stations there. We got to visit them and see what it was like. We were able to tour airplanes and submarines. What did can you do before you game an eagles cheerleader. I auditioned when i turned 18. You have to be 18 and graduated high school. When that happened i tried out for the eagles. I was a dancer. I was a competition dancer like ballet, jazz. Heavy dance background. Very interesting. Also a dance background. I was on the College Dance team when i was in college and in delaware. Real quick. For people interested, best piece of advice for these auditions for each of you. Our top story, new jersey regulators just approved a natural gas pipeline that will run through the federally protected pinelands. Opponents packed the meeting in cherry hill this morning. Many of those opponents deeply concerned about the project. On the other side south jersey gas that proposed the pipeline, the utility says that new pipeline will address energy demands in the region of cape may an atlantic counties. The company says in addition as the pipeline is being built, that project will also create a significant number of jobs. Thats the story we will be following all day here at nbc 10.
