Ambassador mcfaul, by his comments the last couple of months and even yesterday, he said, yes, i think it was russia, but nobody really knows for sure, hasnt President Trump boxed himself in . Hasnt he given Vladimir Putin the perfect response to any accusations . Theyve already reacted to those comments, in the kremlin. One of his spokesperson said, we agree with President Trump, that it is not clear who did this. And maybe other countries were involved. That was a very inopportune moment to say that, precisely because i agree with jeremy, if he wants to win putins respect, he has to be tough with him. He has to say, i know what you do. When im president , youre not going to do it again. Ambassador, youve been in the room many times with meetings with putin. We were in with obama and putin. I wasnt in the room. You were. What is it like . Is he a poker player . A chess player . What is trump walking into . Hes been doing this for 17 years. Our president , this is his Fourth Meeting with an american president. He always comes prepared. He always does his homework. He has an agenda. He does his psychological work about his hes a kgb operative. He used to do this for a living. A first class passenger allege think assaulted a Flight Attendant and forced the beijingbound plane to turn around. Miguel almaguer has the details for us. Hi, miguel. Good morning. Reporter initial reports that the passenger tried to storm the cockpit are untrue. This is a serious situation. One Flight Attendant and a passenger were injured when another passenger got out of hand in the air. Tense moments thursday, after an unruly first class passenger forced a Delta Airlines flight headed to beijing, to return to seattletacoma airport. A man aboard delta flight 129 assaulted a Flight Attendant. Several passengers then helped restrain the alleged attacker until the plane landed back in seattle. Sources tell nbc news, plastic handcuffs or a device like zip ties, were used to restrain the passenger. With the incident creating frustration and rattling nerves, the airport released a statement overnight, reading in part, two were treated and transported to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. The subject was taken into custody by police. The seattle fbi says the 23yearold man is from florida, and was removed from the aircraft shortly after 7 00 p. M. Local time. Law enforcement Officials Say the incident is not considered to be a National Security threat. This morning, the fbis investigation is ongoing. President trump and russian president Vladimir Putin met for the first time just a short time ago at the g20 summit in germany, where protesters have been filling the streets. Now, putin and trump will sit down for a oneonone highly anticipated meeting a little later this morning. A frightening scene played out in a delta flight from seattle to beijing on thursday night. A first class passenger allegedly assaulted a Flight Attendant. Other passengers worked to subdue him as the plane was turned around and two people were sent to the hospital. The same day her attorneys are battling in a court of law, over a fatal crash involving the tennis superstar. 78yearold Jerome Barson eventually t lly died from his injuries. The key contention, black boxes in both vehicles. Williams won an emergency protective order this week from having the cars further inspected until after the hearing. Lawyers want to examine williams suv. Ms. Williams lawyers are attempting to stop us from getting the information. Reporter williams Attorney Says he wants a judge to establish a protocol that will govern the inspection that will ensure extraction of critical information from both parties in a way that preserves the evidence. Nbc news has learned that police have security footage related to the accident but wont release it. The Police Report says williams was at fault for violating the right of way in the accident on june 9th in palm beach gardens. The barson family has filed a wrongful death suit against williams. In a statement, her attorney called the case an unfortunate accident. And williams posted a message on her Facebook Page saying, im devastated and heartbroken by this accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and i continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers. Right now, shes playing at wimbledon, getting emotional when asked about the accident at a press conference earlier this week. Im completely speechless and its just n reporter now, williams is trying to focus on her game, while her lawyers take on her legal trouble. Im going to a story that may give hope to millions of americans to this nations powerful prescription epidemic. A new report shows its not too late to stop the ep demmepin its tracks. Stephanie gosk has that. Reporter for so many opioid addicts in this country, the beginning starts with a prescription from a doctor. One of the ways to slow down the epidemic is to slow down the prescriptions. The cdc is making progress. But opioids are way over prescribed. And people dont realize how easy it is to get hooked. This morning, the cdc says the number of opioid prescriptions is still too high. Enough for every american to be on opioid meditations around the clock for three weeks. Thats just too much. Reporter they have fallen 18 between 2010 and 2015 overall, in one in five u. S. Counties, the numbers are actually up. Mainly, lowincome White Communities with high unemployment. And higher rates of diabetes and arthritis. In an extreme case, oklahoma doctor described 1,800 pills in a single month. She is expected to plead not guilty to seconddegree murder charges. More 33,000 people died of overdoses in 2015 alone. In the war against opioid abuse, some states have promising results. Between 2010 and 2015, prescriptions decreased by 85 in ohio. 80 in florida and 82 in kentucky. Things like a broken leg or a kidney stone, dont require opioids. Reporter this Medical Center started a program to replace opioids with alternatives. People are saying im in so much pain, i need Something Else. What people are discovering is that effective pain management, specifically the first couple of days after an injury, can be accomplished with different medications. Reporter a slow by ke but k change in the medical community that can save lives. Its a challenge to overcome challenges that they need opioid medicines to manage their pain. Reporter the cdc refers to doctors when to take opioids. Its never good to take the painkillers to take them for long term. And to give them for acute pain like surgery and latestage cancer. I talked to someone this morning who got a jar of pills last week from the doctor. And the doctor did not sit them down and say, you need to be careful with this stuff. And this, to me, is alarming. This is a shakeup in the fastchanging retail environment. Sheinelle jones is here with that this morning. Qvc will take over hsn in a 2. 1 billion stock transaction. The merger will create a company with 15 billion in annual sales. But is there still room for qvc in the age of amazon . The two biggest players in the tv shopping game are teaming up. Together, qvc and hsn produce more than 55,000 hours of shopible video content a year. And i press. Reporter hocking everything from juices to jewelry. This is included because it is the birthday surprise. Reporter over the years, turning celebrities like suzanne sommers, joan rivers and lisa renna into saleswomen. Theyre the perfect pant. Little lemon juice and chili. Thats chipotle in there. Worcester sauce. Oh. Southern coming out and garlic. Whisking that right nup. What you do is continue adding a little oil. It will be a nice emulsifiy eie chipotle dressing. I like my caesar whole leaf. Its fun. You can pick it up or eat it with a fork, one way or another. This past week, members of our armed forces came together in an annual event known as the department of defense Warrior Games. Wounded from all branches of the military took part in a little friendly competition. And the games proved, once again, the healing power of sports. 265 athletes representing all branches of the armed forces, battled for gold in the eighth annual Warrior Games. Consisting of eight different sporting events, the Games Showcase the fighting spirit of these active Service Members and wounded veterans. This years Opening Ceremony was especially starstudded with performances by Blake Shelton and kelly clarkson. Because we belong together now this event is a really cool thing because its focused on overcoming such hurdles and celebrating them. Its about celebrating the individuals who have, you know, been through so much and are on the daily having to fight. Reporter one such individual is christy gardener. In 2006, just two years into joining the army, christy was injured while overseas in asia, leading to a brain injury and spinal cord damage. When you meet with the doctors and they tell you all these limitations, that part was especially hard. When i first heard that i wasnt going to be independent or do any of the things or achieve any of the goals i had for myself, i believed them. I was so depressed for years. Reporter another member of team army going for gold is retired Sergeant First Class david uhly. David retired last year after being diagnosed with a heart condition. The transition from the military life to civilian life is harder than i thought it would be. Doing something for so long, to not doing it anymore, puts my mind and my body in shock. Reporter but participating in his second Warrior Games has helped david with the transition. Give me something to focus on. The goal was to make it to the Warrior Games and do the best that you can. Ultimately, you want to win gold. But you see the faces and the people that are here, the journey alone is just really helps you. Its an avenue for our soldiers to get back to normal. Reporter as this years games come to a close, it is resilience that makes every participant a true warrior. You fight for what is right. Continue the fight for your team and never give up.
