Now lets talk about his full day of events that he is going to be resting up for tonight. He has a lot on the schedule beginning tomorrow in washington. Beginning in the day tomorrow, with a reception at the white house. 15,000 people expected. Plus an Oval Office Meeting with the president oneonone just the two men. After that the pontiff will join u. S. Bishops at the cathedral of saint matthew. Then he is off to the National Shrine of the immaculate conception, to canonize junipero serra, the founder of 9 california missions. One of the biggest security challenges ever for the nypd, crews were out installing security cameras today along Central Park West and tow trucks enforced the papal parking ban [ no audio ] and its side streets. Its a celebratory event for everybody else, for us this is a security event. One of the highest level. Secret service is actually the lead agency for providing security for the pope. Were in support with them and were pretty tightly coordinated on this. And barricades will also go up at the United Nations and around Madison Square garden. Now, in addition to increased security, major gridlock is expected in and around manhattan. Take a look at the places where the pope has his scheduled events. He will be at st. Cummings from the Cleveland Clinic and co authors recruited 220 patients with alzheimers dementia and agitation. During a preliminary ten week trial, participants were randomly assigned to receive either a combination of dextromethorphan and quinn in a dean or a placebo. The combination had a substantial effect in reducing agitation and far greater than was seen in the placebo treated patients. Reporter the study in jama journal of the american medical association, showed the drug was safe, effective and a boon for caregivers. There was a reduction in the stress experienced for caregivers of the patients who were treated with the combination. Reporter although caring for her parents is sometimes overwhelming, laurie takes comfort in knowing they have lived full lives. Police commissioner bill bratton announced today that he will focus resources in harlem on 125th street where the problem is biggest. Reporter it is a homeless hot spot even after police have cleared it several times, vagrants are still on the blocks around 125th street. They arrive every day after stepping off a bus from the overnight homeless shelters on the island and spend their days roaming the streets . We have two methadone clinics in the neighborhood. Reporter now there will be 3 dozen Police Officers on this one street. Today im announcing the creation of a new 38 officer unit stationed at 125th street. In harlem to deal with the conditions in the community. Reporter those new officers will be trained in crisis intervention and dealing with mentally disturbed people. And advocates for the homeless say its the wrong solution to a growing problem. We cant police ourselves out of the crisis. We need solutions that work. Reporter giselle is working to get more funding from the state for supportive housing, which provides housing and social services to the homeless. Bratton slammed the city council and speaker melissa markviveritos plans to lessen penalties for quality of life crimes. The city council is attempting to loosen these laws even further. Crazy reporter but the speaker points to this letter from bratton back in may where he welcomed a discussion of documented warnings instead of summons and says now, the city council looks forward to a deliberateddive and thoughtful dialogue as we work to keep our city safe while also striving to create a more equitable criminal justice system. It is every womans right to breastfeed in public.
