was brought with mass. general last night with possible serious injuries. >> new this morning, new hampshire state police are still investigating an early morning crash but say alcohol and speed were likely causes, happened before 3 a.m., route 16 south in dover, arrested john label for dwi. he couldn't make the curb and ended up overriding it. is due in court next month. >> police in quincy investigating a death of a man struck by a train around 8:30 last night. released. but the mbta says he was trespassing. >> it is now 6:20 02 and happening today, uber drivers are demanding change which means drivers may end up waiting for service this weekend. >> that's right. local uber drivers are planning to strike: live in boston. where the strike could create more problems for people plan to go go to an event today. >> reporter: set to start in two hours, 4,000 people expected to show up. traffic pretty light, pretty smooth sailing on the pike, that's going to change in the next few hours. because parking is limited, uber could be a good option. but some uber drivers say you could be out of luck because they're going to be sitting home this weekend. they started protesting yesterday, they're going to sit out through sunday. one driver told me they're making minimum wage, so $9 an pay for gas, and car upkeep, some of them are having a hard time supporting their families. >> it's coming to a point where guys are going to have to stop doing this and do something else because they're not making enough. >> reporter: now in a statement, uber boston told fox 25 that they always welcome feedback from drivers and say a lot of their drivers are not taking part in this protest and are very happy with their jobs. i also spoke with an uber spokeswoman about potential price surging because of that protest and coming up in 30 minutes i'll have her response. in boston, i'm stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> new this morning, a mother in massachusetts is in state police custody after taking off with her sick baby, tiffany and cavan knee cherry were found after an amber alert issued this morning, you may have gotten that alert on your phone. this all started yesterday tiffany took off instead of getting the baby medical help as instructed. again, both have been located. new this morning, narrowly escaped capture yesterday and hurt his face and leg in the process. it's not clear how he was hurt. but officials say it was not from a confrontation with police. el chapo has been on the run when he broke out of a prison in july. >> more on the killing of a teacher, the state lost its bid to evaluate phillip chism. right now he's undergoing mental evaluation at a hospital in worcester. the judge ordered the check on thursday. during jury selection, he was seen banging his head and talking with invisible people. he's accused of killing colleen ritzer in 2013. another high profile case will be in court on monday. katherine greg will be in court on contempt charges. she refused to testify before a grand jury, whether anyone else helped bulger while he was on the run for 16 years. >> police in new hampshire, are investigating an armed robbery, it happened early friday morning at a gas station on east hollis street. take a look at the suspect's picture. he's a black man, between five seven and five ten. he's accused of using a knife to rob the gas station. in lynn, police are investigating a bank robbery. there's a picture of the suspect, he's between 30 and 40 years old. over 6 feet tall and more than 30 200 pounds. >> time now 6:06, police in everett on high alert after a string of break ins. most of the cars involved were unlocked with no alarm. it may sound like common sense police want to remind you to lock your doors and don't keep anything valuable inside of this morning, the coast guard are working on sea port from hackers, taking too long to improve cyber security from ship and port operations. now the coast guard is of an area of low pressure spinning around the canadian border. that indicates snow, a few 10ths of an inch in the white mountains, new hampshire and vermont as we head through the day today. for us, though, that area of low pressure will drag a cold front in here, behind that cold front as you might expect it gets cold so very chilly overnight tonight high temperatures tomorrow only in the upper 40s, that's it. keep in mind, 61 an average high for this time of year. night into monday morning. where temperatures, again, monday morning will likely be down into the upper teens and -- excuse me. upper 20s and low 30s. that would be sunday night into monday morning. fortunately, after monday morning, things do warm up nicely and temperatures get back to normal as we head into the middle part now, in a statement, uber boston told fox 25 that a lot of their drivers are not taking part of this protest and they are happy with their jobs, they also told us that they welcomed feedback from drivers, but one driver who is striking at the very strong worlds about how uber treats them. >> how can you say something about guys, family members, driving around helping build your empire and then weekend. she told me that it really shouldn't because they do have striking. she said that any price surge customers would be unrelated. and coming up, the three main reasons drivers say they're headquarters in boston and they plan to protest through the weekend. in a statement, uber boston told fox 25 a lot of their drivers not taking part in the protests and they're happy with their jobs. they also said they always welcome feedback from drivers. but one driver who is striking had some very strong words about how uber treats them. >> how can you say something about guys, people, family about price surging and whether this protest could impact prices. she told me it shouldn't because they do have enough drivers who aren't striking. she said any price surge customers do see could be downtown boston, even the cape will likely seeing sub freezing temperatures sunday night into monday morning, that's a lot sooner than you normally would expect to see a freeze in downtown boston. on top of that, a little on the gusty side, both today and tomorrow, with gusts over 25 miles an hour, fairly frequently the north, northwest. that would be the only issue for charles. 42 right now in mixed in there. elsewhere on the radar, it's not as impressive but do have some light returns ark little bit of green here on the north show, likely so light, probably not even hitting the ground. but don't be surprised if you see a sprinkle or two of rain in parts of the north shore this afternoon. north shore, moving into northern maine, notice the white and the blue, would indicate snow currently falling, here we are mid october and got snow not that samed area of low pressure as it moves eventually out into the connecticut maritimes here, will drag a cold front later on today. it's that cold front that will cause the winds to shift around to the north west, around that cold front, as you might expect, it gets cold, awfully chilly later on tonight and very cold when you're out the door tomorrow morning. tomorrow temperatures only in the mid 40s and getting colder from there, sunday night into monday morning. sunday night into monday morning, that will likely be the temperatures, look at this, we've got 34 31 in boston, we've got 30 in providence, 26 in worcester, so very cold temperatures expected monday morning, not quite record breaking but still well below normal for this time of year. if you get through that, it does become a little bit better. 53 by monday afternoon, 64 by tools afternoon. next chance of rain coming wednesday night into thursday reporting a 63 year old man was driving recklessly and suspected of being drunk when he rear-ended another car. the woman in that car was thrown from her vehicle and killed. no word this morning on done knells, also show the state is so far paying the contractor hired to repair those leaks between 5 and 7 million $, but mass dot told us most of the leaks happened between april and february of this year, the time. when it had record topping snowfall. >> it makes me comfortable that they're taking care of it. >> i would say that the leaks are within the federal guidelines. >> governor baker said he'd like to get to the point where the state is not just been federal guidelines and isn't spending this money to just patch holes. it all raises questions about who the state would expect to sit to the expected cost, for 12 and a half million dollars by march of 2017. >> when you're talking about tunnels they either run along the bottom of body of water or underneath the body of water. in investigating an early morning crash that say alcohol and speed were likely causes. it happened before 3 a.m. along route 16 south in dover. arrested 27 year old john la bow of marshfield massachusetts for dwi and other charges, couldn't make the curb and ended up rolling over it. he was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries and due in court later this month. new this morning, a mother is in massachusetts state police custody after taking off with her sick baby. >> they were found in the boston area after an amber alert was issued early this morning and fox 25 stephanie coueignoux is live in boston with more on how -- >> and i actually believe we just lost audio. but what i can tell you is that the two and a half month old baby is now at a boston hospital under emergency care after police say that he was found severely dehydrated. and, again, the mother, tiffany cherry, now in police custody. this all started friday afternoon at around 4:30 in wilkes-barre pennsylvania. officials told tiffany to take her child to the hospital, because he was severely dehydrated. instead she drove off in a dodge intrepid like this one around 2 this morning, massachusetts state police issued an amber alert after getting information cherry could be in the waltham area about an hour after that, they cancelled the alert after finding cherry and her son. we are asking exactly what hospital the two and a half month old son is at. how he was doing and any charges that cherry herself might face. in boston, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 news. >> happening today uber using may ends up waiting a while for a ride this weekend. fox 25 is told local uber drivers were planning to strike. it's part of a nationwide push for higher pay. one worker tells us, some of his coworkers have having a tough time supporting their families. >> it's coming a point where guys are having to stop doing this to do something else because they're just not making enough. >> uber boston sent fox 25 a statement, writing did she company always welcome feedback from drivers. the company says many of the drivers will not be taking part in the protest. no word when the fugitive drug lord, el chapo guzman narrowly escaped catture yesterday and heard his leg and face in the process. el chapo has been on the run since tunnelling out of prison in july. >> more now on the trial of a teenager accused of killing his teacher. the state lost its bid to appoint its own expert to evaluate chism. chism is undergoing another mental evaluation at a hospital in worcester. the judge ordered the check on thursday because during the jury selection, chism was seen banging his head and talking to invisible people. chism is accused of killing danvers high school math teacher colleen ritzer in 2013. another high profile case will be in court on monday. greg refused to testify before a grand jury about whether anyone else hurt bulger while he was on the run for 16 years. bulger serves two life sentences for his role in 11 murders. >> it is now 8:046789 police in hollis new hampshire are investigating an armed robbery. it happened friday morning at a gas station on east hollis street. police say he's a black man between five seven and five ten. he's accused of using a knife to rob the gas station. in lynn, police are investigating a bank robbery, happened tuesday, in market square. this is a picture of the suspect. he's between 30 and 40 years old. over 6 feet tall and more than 200 pounds. >> time now 8:05 and police in everett on high alert after a string of car break ins, happening around elm street. most of the cars involved were unlocked with no alarm and may sounds like common sense here this morning. but police want to remind you to lock your doors and don keep anything valuable inside of them. this morning, the coast guard working on new way to frequent sea ports from hackers, the move comesly of a government audit found the guard is taking too long to improve cyber security when it comes to ship and operations. now outlining plans to work with ports to address cyber threats and come up with new ways to boost security. the audit hiker who has been missing for a week. 64 year old claire is from westwood on october 5th, she left for a five day, 26 mile hike in the white mountain national forest. when she doesn't show up for work this week, her brother reported her missing. a body was found two miles from a trail head. officials say she may have run into bad weather. in heavy rain or heavy flood waters you're at to get swept down river. >> right now it's not clear how she died. but we're told she's an experienced hiker. clean up continues today in california after heavy rain caused mud slides that trapped two cars if you have plans outside, those sensitive ones need to come indoors. freezing line everywhere except downtown and the came. tomorrow night, into monday morning, will be even colder. even the usual warmer spots like downtown and the cape, even those areas will dip down below freezing, by the end of the weekend, everyone is below freezing, also on the gusty sides. wind gusts up around 25 will be very common, that will be about the only issue for the races ahead of the charles, those rowers will have to dig deeper, depending what direction they're going, you're wondering the most, how low it will go tonight, down to 34 tonight in, 28 in brockton, 44 in vineyard, downtown, the cape, the island, no freeze, but yet a little bit further inland and a freeze is and, again subtract a couple of degrees from those numbers to get to tomorrow night's temperatures, so by then, everyone is down below freezing, currently got 48 in boston, 39 in norwood, 48 in the vineyard, a little bit earlier this morning, did have heavy rain, even pea sized hail reported there. that shower, unfortunately, has moved out of the area. here are those winds, at one point, most of these numbers are down around calm. now seeing the numbers pick up a little bit. and gusts up around 25 miles per hour common as we head into the afternoon hours. finally getting rid of this thunderstorm, not produced a pea size hail, convenient yard haven about 6 a.m., produced lightning over nantucket sound, that's moving out into the atlantic ocean. behind that lighter rain, across i 59 stoughton area. these areas light. don't be surprised if you see a few sprinkles along the south shore in the next few minutes. but behind that skies start to climb out. partly sunny skies in the evening hours. low pressure spreading around the canadian border, just past north of bangor and eventually the canadian maritime, as it does, it will help to drag that cold front, it's that cold front that will help to switch around the winds and create those gusty winds later on this afternoon. and as you might expect with a cold front, it gets cold. so even colder weather expected tonight into tomorrow morning. high temperatures tomorrow afternoon only in the mid to upper 40s. keep in mind, 61 would be normal for this time of year. we're not going to get out of the 40s tomorrow afternoon. despite a decent amount of sunshine be and overnight sunday night into monday morning, that's when things really start to get chilly. so here are low temperatures for monday morning. boston. 28 won't quite get there, down to about 31 to still below freezing, 39 in providence, 26 in lowell, 26 in worcester, a lot of mid 20s on that map. if you can get through that, it does warm up a little bit. 64 by tuesday afternoon. >> new this for massachusetts state police officers. simmons was hurt in the explosion during the water town shoot out. he died last year from a brain aneurysm. the memorial is important for not only the families and other officers but also our community. >> they are permanently on this wall, so generations to come won't forget that they gave up their lives to make sure they're citizens of this great city and across the state are safe in their homes. >> governor charlie baker attended the event and spoke there and called simmons a hero. a city of new hampshire is backing off plans to end force a citywide curfew for anyone under the age of 16. now they only have to worry about the curfew set by their parents. fox 25 reported earlier this week, the city wanted them off the streets by 9 o'clock on weekdays and 11 o'clock on weekends. the city decided not to enforce it. >> a jury says a new york woman her young nephew for actually breaking her arm. this story had everyone buzzing all week long. jennifer says the boy, son of her cousin, leaped into her arms, after shouting auntie, i love you. >> it happened four years ago, and it's not clear why she decided to sue now. at first she said she and a half month old son left pennsylvania yesterday afternoon. police say cherry refused to take her son to the hospital, even though he was severely dehydrated. and that's when police issued she was last seen driving a dodge intrepid with new hampshire license plates. then around 2 this morning, massachusetts state police became involved after getting information that she could be in the waltham area. they issued an amber alert. they eventually found cherry and her son around 3 a.m. this morning and cancelled that alert shortly thereafter. again, we are still reaching out, trying to get more to artesani park. a few parts of manchester by the sea are without water this morning, after a water main break yesterday morning. and for a while, water was cut off for the whole town, now areas of dead, another in custody, after a deadly crash in westport. happened along route 6. the herald is reporting a 63 year old man is accused of driving recklessly and suspected another car. the woman in that car it was thrown from her vehicle and killed. people involved. four teenager unless custody this morning and officers trying to figure out if they're connected to a series of car thefts and break ins. one of the cars was stolen in walpole and involved in a police chase through several local towns. it continued until the personal driving the car be barrelled into this man's car in samples sent to the office. receives about 750 case as month but only has the veries ors to process about 500 and many of those samples are coming from two places. >> nashua of man chest are, so we're seeing a vast majority of heroin be and federal submissions from those two cities. the lab is working towards 60,000 dollar grant to hem them process more samples, right now, one lab will never be to upper 40s tomorrow afternoon. get further north, burlington, con cords, they should stay above freezing at least during the day, but some of the higher elevations, some of the green mountains, white mountains, fact, our primary weather maker today, what's driving all of this, area of low pressure spinning around near canada, pass near bangor maine and canadian maritime, has that draws down, coueignoux is in boston. she just got an update on this story, stephanie. >> reporter: yes in the last 20 minutes, boston police have confirmed the baby and tiffany cherry were found here at boston children's hospital. we're also being told the child is now getting emergency medical attention. police say when they found the two and a half month old baby he was severely dehydrated. they also say this all started yesterday afternoon in will,bury pennsylvania. she refused to take her son to the hospital there for treatment and instead drove away with him. that is when pennsylvania state police issued an am we were alert. then at around 2 this morning, information came in, cherry and her son could be here in massachusetts. state police here became involved and issued an amber alert. they did find the two at 3 in the morning again here at boston children's hospital. cherry now in police custody. i also just spoke with massachusetts state police who told me time of course always a factor but especially in this case, because they didn't have photos of cherry or her son. they weren't available. all they had was information about the car they were last seen in, but of course at any point, cherry could've ditched that car. and we're also digging deemer into the mother's history. we'll have that information coming for you at 9:30. for now in boston, stephanie coueignoux, fox 25 this morning, new hampshire state police still investigating an early morning crash that say alcohol and speed were likely causes. happened just before 3 a.m. along route 16 south in dover. police arrested 27 year old don la bow of marshfield massachusetts for dwi and other charges. say la bow couldn't make the curb and hit a guardrail and rolled over it. treated at the hospital for and due in court next month. >> police in quincy investigating a man struck by a train on the old colony line last night. the man's name and age not released but mbtaed says he was trespassing when he was hit by across the state are safe in their homes. >> governor charlie baker also attended the event speaking >> here's what you need to know as we head through the weekend. two opportunities likely to see a freeze. most of us will see a freeze tonight. the exception will be downtown, the immediate downtown boston area and the cape and the island. but tomorrow night will be even colder, cold enough that even those unusually warm spots will get. there. freeze everywhere. bottom line, anything you have outside that might be sensitive to the cold, those plans need to be brought inside. other issue, winds, a little on the gugssty side, with winds today and tomorrow. 49 current until boston, 47 in portsmouth, 48 in lawyer wednesday, 44 the current temperature right now in worcester. and it's a little bit on the breezy side, so 44 actually feels like 37 in worcester right now. and there's not going to be much of a warm up. highs there only in the upper 40s. that's about it. so you factor in the wind, it will feel even cooler than that. so bottom line kind of a cool day and getting even colder by the time we get to tomorrow. there are the current sustained winds right now. in general, about 10 to 15 miles per hour. but gusts up to about 25 will be fairly common. on the radar, watching for showers, fairly strong ones earlier this morning. right around martha's vineyard, now a little bit of light rain approaching plymouth bay. that will cross cape cod bay and might see a sprinkle at p town later on this morning. but that would be about it. behind these showers, if you look at the radar, satellite and radar, gray area watch the cloud cover, clouds start to break up a little built. those move out, clouds break up and get partly even mostly sunny skies through the remainder of the day. now all of this is being driven by a big area of low pressure. currently centered up here, right along the canadian border and that will move through norththern maine. through the canadian maritimes later this afternoon. as it does, it will help to pull a cold front through here and it's that cold front that will help to bring in some of the bitter cold air as we head into the overnight reporter: the baby now receiving emergency medical attention after being found severely dehydrated. we can let you know that both boston's children hospital at around 3 this morning. police say when they found the two and a half month old baby, again, he was severely dehydrated. police in pennsylvania actually issued that amber alert yesterday after they say the mother, tiffany cherry, refused to take her son to the hospital there for treatment. instead they say she drove away with him. around 2 this morning, this information came in to police, tiffany and her son found here in massachusetts. an issue of amber alert in massachusetts. boston police found chairry and the son again here at children's hospital. they arrested her on three default warrants out of massachusetts and now she's facing a number of charges, including endangering the welfare of a child. police do plan to extra indict her. i also spoke with massachusetts state police earlier this morning. and they say any time there is an amber alert, time of the essence, especially in this case because they never had a photo of shiri or of her son. so after they may have ditched the car, they wouldn't be able to identify them. thankfully. they found them here at boston's children hospital. the son now receiving emergency medical attention. for now, in boston, i'm stephanie coueignoux fox 25 news. >> happening today, water this afternoon after a water main break yesterday morning. a pipe at school and central streets broke. and for a while. the water was cut off to the entire town. now only the areas of pine, the busy commute, it started as a location of jamaica plain and then spilled outside. no one was hurt and no word on the suspect's name this morning. police have a student in custody this morning after finding a gun in a school locker in pittsfield. the berkshire eagle reports a small caliber pistol and clip of bullets were found. students sheltered in place during the investigation. no word at boston logan airport. even there, i expect the temperature will dip sunday night into monday morning, which will be the earliest that happened since october 10th, 1979. right now 46 in norwood, 48 in lawrence, 49 in current temperature right now in boston. and will little bit gusty out there. which makes it cooler, sustained winds on the order of 10 to 15. but frequent gusts up around 25 miles an hour. see the treetops from the fox 25 studios waving in the wind behind the camera, that will add to the chill. actual temperatures generally in the mid 50s this afternoon. but look at the difference between the high temperatures for tomorrow. only in the upper 40s. little bit further to the north, afternoon. burlington about 43. but some of the higher elevations, some of the mountains up in parts of new hampshire, parts of vermont are actually seeing snow at this hour. show you that in just a second envelope the meantime, first things thirst first, a few sprinkles across cape cod bay. outer cape. bind that little bit of rain, skies actually start to clear out. and that's basically what we're looking at for the rest of the day. partly, even mostly sunny skies but a little further to the north, not that far to the north, all of the white, all of the blue across northern maine, northern vermont, north'thern new hampshire, higher elevations the green mountains and the white mountains, that is actually snow, part of an area of low pressure kind of spinning around here and that is help to go drive in the cooler weather down here into southern new england. now, if you're thinking about heading north to maybe check out the leaf color, don't worry, notice the decimal point. that is crucial here, this not to po 3 inches of snow. just enough adjusting, just enough
